gurus in the house, isn't this a problem? Choosing regular despite being denied within the last 2 months.

Hello @fairheart, I just joined naira land because of this platform. All of your advice has been quite helpful, but my visa got denied on Nov 6th. I truly didn’t impress the VO cos, my chest got heavy as he asked the questions and all I could do was only answer with a word or a sentence. I studied hard for that interview, Buh I guess that wasn’t my time. I tried scheduling another emergency interview Buh got refused on the condition that if a person has been denied once, they can’t schedule another interview until after 6months.
Luckily for me, my fiancée was going through their website of recent and saw January 13 opened for interview, so he instantly called me to pay for my visa fee and now I’d be having another interview on the 13th of January. Please I need your help. I wouldn’t mind having a mock interview as well so as to prepare better and overcome my fear
did your fiance choose regular or previously denied?

Hello Guys

My emergency appointment request was granted (previously refused visa in Lagos on 6th November), I applied on 25th and got a mail about an hour ago saying it’s limited to those that has not been refused within 6 months. I got another mail saying it has been approved and then another mail saying it has been refused. I then login to my account to reschedule and I was able to schedule for December 4. This is Abuja, I just received a confirmation mail (I hope they don’t turn me back at the gate).

So for guys like me, you can try. My program start date is 19th January. I hope I get favored this time.
After my denial. I applied for expedite last week Saturday and was denied on monday. Reason stated was that I was denied within the last 6 months.

Hello guys, a quick one, I got my first interview, denied on the 20th of November and whenever I tried to apply for a new date, I still got the old DS-160. Should I register as a new user to get a new DS-160 or I can proceed with the existing one (I'd like to make some adjustments to the old DS-160?)
have you been able to book another date?

Being denied Visa does not really mean someone should be heartbroken because it is just the beginning of the adoption of the new normal.Travelling abroad is just giving you the opportunity to work hard and see your rewards as against Nigeria system where hardwork is rarely rewarded. However, travelling abroad has uncertainties attached to it. I would say it is the process of adoption. So, get use to it; rekindle , restrategise and bound back!
all you said except your first sentence is good.

I noticed that the previously refused which was 6months is now two months. Dates are filling fast so I picked a date on April, when dates comes for the previously refused, I will reschedule. I have been checking how dates are filling from January to April and the never bring back those months back. I told my brothers over there and they said it’s a smart choice. What do you think?
I honestly don't know what to think. I've scheduled a date for April too, hoping they bring out dates for previously refused soon.

Even after changing location? How about sending an email to the consul requesting for a date to retry ? Like applying same procedures used in requesting expedited Interviews. When they deny applicants, they expect them to reapply, they can make provisions for a second trial.

My thoughts!
expedited request was denied because I've been denied within the last 6 months. I've sent an email too, nothing yet.

I can't say I understand how this can feel cos I honestly don't. But I know it won't feel easy. Your pain is clearly reflected in your post. Sorry about that denial. Please get yourself together and reschedule. Prepare some more and get someone to do mocks for you. You'll be alright in the end.
The schools do a lot to help matters sometimes. Find courage.
Good luck on your next attempt!

sad part is that there are currently no dates for previously denied applicants

Bro look at the answers to WHY you choose the school ? You based it only on scholarship, I feel you should be telling VO the knowledge or what you will end up gaining in the school that other student gained. Do you get ?
yes, I would work on that. Thanks for your input.

I remember your transcript vividly. Seems you were on suit. The guy in window 11 turned on the volume of his mic (more like putting it on loudspeaker) and said anyone getting close to any other person should have their mask on to avoid infecting others. I wish you all the best, man.
yes that's me, I wasn't on suit though but he talked about putting on the mask loudly for everybody to hear.

Did I say anything out of point from what you heard? Because I con dey think say baba nor really hear me.

Status: Denied
Lagos consulate, Nov 20th 2020

My interview lasted about 10 minutes. Here we go:

The moment I entered the hall, I noticed that there were three VOs interviewing people at the counter, two females and one male. I realized immediately that the male was the guy who denied me last year and started praying that I should not come across him again. He had already denied about three to four persons right there in the hall. Unfortunately, I came across him again.

The moment I passed my passport and i20 to him, he looked at me and said, "I denied you last year and sorry I cannot interview you this time." He then directed me to another VO, an elderly woman. I can't remember the window. Now the interview proper.

Me: Good morning ma

VO: Good morning, pass me your i-20 and passport then place your hands on the scanner for the biometric capture.

Me: Okay ma. (I passed the documents to her and placed my hands on the scanner)

VO: Where are you going to?

Me: I am going to MSU, Starkvile, to pursue my PhD in Sociology with concentration in Criminology.

VO: I see. So, why this university?

Me: I settled for MSU because I was able to find a wonderful Prof. in the person of Professor XYZ who not only shares my research interest but believes in my abilities to excel at graduate school. For me, that's priceless. I also settled for MSU because the program is fully funded.

VO: I see that you've got full tuition waiver. Who's paying for the decifit?

Me: Please check ma, I do not have any deficit. The stipend from my assistantship covers my living expenses.

VO: Okay. Alright (kept typing into the system)

VO: What other school did you apply to?

Me: I also applied to Northeastern University, Boston, but I was not admitted.

VO: Did you write GRE score? (I was asked this same question the last time by the male VO)

Me: 300

VO: Where do you work? (I asked the last time too)

Me:I work with XYZ, a Lagos based NGO

VO: Have you travelled out of the country before? (Was also asked the last time)

Me: No

VO: Sorry bla bla bla and hands me a green paper.
Me: (dumbfounded)

PS: Gurus in the house, Fairheart, Walspring, Chonco, and the rest what do you guys sense as the reason for my rejection? I'll appreciate your views because I intend to reapply. Thanks.
I'm not sure but I think I was there when this happened. It's the guy you avoided that denied me.

I was so surprised.

How old are you?
Do you have a Bsc already?
I'm 22. I don't have a BSC. I stated in my DS-160 that my dad had an accident and my 2 elders brothers were in school that period. That took a lot of money from the family so I just had to chill until they want to finish before I started making college plans.

So sorry about your denial...

As e de go so matter don de change, so like this once they ask me why I'm going to the school, the best bet is to start talking about the course of study and its impact in ur career of why you chose the course....

If possible why this school should not mean u talking about the admission process or scholarships cos I'm sure he can see that on ur i20.

We might not have the opportunity for another question like why this course so let's just take any opportunity and sell ourself.

I wish the rest of us goodluck..

I talked about my funding where he said, who would be funding this program not why the school. In the why the school, I talked about the honors program which has been used in approved transcripts I've seen.

VISA DENIED
Window 11

As I was going towards him, in order to speak better, I lowered my nose masks and he instructed me and other persons in the hall to raise it back up.p

Me: good morning
V.O: good morning
V.O: where are you going to?
Me: I would be going to continue my undergraduate degree in biology
V.O: who would be funding this?
Me: I got a full ride presidential scholarship that would cover the entire cost of my tuition, feeding, accommodation, books, extra fees and a laptop. Also I was able to get 2 external scholarships this fall. $5000 for aidsmemorial and $2500 yearly scholarship from the United Negro College Fund. The rest of the costs would be taken care of by my uncle.
V.O: Are you married?
Me: No
V.O: Do you have any kids?
Me: No (laughs a bit)
V.O: So why did you choose this school?
Me: as I said I got a full ride scholarship, then when admitting me, EWC put me in their honors program. Which means that I get to pick a professor in my major that I can carry out summer research with, I would be given priority access to research and internships and I would be assigned an excelling senior in my major that would Integrate me into the Edward waters college community.
V.O: I cannot issue you the visa at this moment, this letter would explain more.

I was so so surprised.

I filled my dad as my sponsor, my interview is in two weeks, but my dad is presently not in available to get the SOA. my uncle who is a medical doctor is willing to help with his SOA and with a written note regarding that as my sponsor but my dad's name is reflecting on ds160. Will this affect in any way?
this is not hard na. Fill another DS-160 and put your uncle as the sponsor.

I've heard of someone trying to fight the security officials there(after denial) and at the course of that fight, the Consular General was just arriving and accidentally, he saw what was going on, immediately, he instructed the VO to issue the man visa o
maybe, but this one is a troll.
