Hey, learn to make your opinion without attacking people. I gave my opinion based on my knowledge and experience about the visa process. If you disagree, you can as well state your points, rather than attack me.

sorry if I came off rude.

You have to understand that there are persons in STEM courses taking online classes currently. STEM courses requires practical sections, if they don't do the practical sections they won't graduate. I know a dude that was able to pick non practical classes for this first semester. That is another point someone can tell the V.O.

This is not a case off "since your school has option of online classes" like a dude here mentioned for his MBA.
It's impossible to take STEM courses online because you won't meet the requirements to graduate. For people in other courses, cogent reasons can also be brought out aside the ones I stated initially.

Differ your admission till your program is back in class !!! Don’t take classes online when you don’t have a visa. That’s enough reason to deny your application. The VO will think if you can take classes online then why do you need to get a visa.
You people will just come and make unnecessary generalizations and factless conclusions.

You can always tell the V.O that your school doesn't offer online classes for your course but that was 'only' made available for fall due to the Coronavirus and it won't be available by spring. The V.Os knows this. Like the case of Havard and other big schools.

Apart from that you can always Google why in person classes are better than online classes and tell them one.

Taking online classes has it benefits. it proves that you're financially bouyant to be able to have covered your tuition and you might most likely focus on school and not planning to use F1 as a devious means to run.

Nobody treats us unfairly. These people are paid to do their jobs, so don't blame them. Get into a good program, make sure your finances are in great shape, prove your genuineness at the interview, and get your visa. What's so difficult about it??
there's unfair treatment actually. A student from Nigeria with same stats with one from Europe is more likely to be denied if they answer same things to the V.O.

Hi everyone,

I nees your input on this .

I got admitted earlier this year with no funding(I submitted my admission material s late )..so, I got a mail from graduate coordinator advising me to defer my admission till next year so
That I would be consider for funding next year..my question is does that necessarily mean my admission would be coming with full ride next year?
it simply means you'd be considered for funding with the next applicant pool. It doesn't guarantee anything but at least next pool, you'd be considered for GC unlike this pool. Best you'd do is try to do something this period pertaining to his department or anything that would enhance your competitiveness. Also try and apply to other schools too.

I have explained that in my recent response. Also , an hold will be placed on your account until you register courses , once you register it will be lifted and since the school also has some things done with ICE already, easy pissy. Someone was turned back and what they said to her was they couldn’t verify that her classes are not fully online ( she isn’t Nigerian by the way ). I also attached a mail from the PDSO’s deputy in my school and FAQs to schools from ICE.
thank you very much for the information

Please don’t try it if your classes are fully online , you will be turned back at the port of entry. People were denied entry. Also avoid Air France , they will not allow F1 /J1 students to board. I and a friend who is on a J1 visa got to the airport and were not allowed to board. Currently they are still holding on to a huge dome of money from us
in my school, on the I-20 of international students. It's written that our classes would be hybrid. A student from a European country got her VISA last week and entered last week, currently she registered all her courses online. How was she able to do that? Did they check the exact courses you registered online?
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by Friedpotato: 1:09am On Aug 19, 2020

Please don’t give him that advise , they have ISS representatives in schools. They had people turned back at the entry , even my friend who had an exception letter for his J1 visa was taking into another room and was questioned over 25 mins. You don’t want to risk flying for that long and get turned back. Please just do the right thing. Register for as many hybrid or in person courses as you can.
really? Thank you for the information.

How did they know you're going for in-person classes? And what is the full meaning of the ISS, different from the DSO?. Plus is the ISS under ICE?

How did you depart Nigeria to the USA?
I finished my registration from here only to realize my courses are online, I don't know how CBP are to people entering the USA just to do online courses. Is it safe for me to travel with my courses completely online, I already have my student visa.
My school also has available in person classes which am trying to get at least one so I can travel.
I will appreciate responses to anyone that has answers to this questions.
if "online" is not written on your I-20, you should be safe. Another good thing would be to request a new I-20 from your school stating your classes are in person. That way, you're cleared of any uncertainties. I don't think anyone would check what you registered just what is on your I-20.

It is not the spirit of poetry but emotional blackmailing. You want everybody to see you from the prism that you're suffering and facing challenges so all of us can rally round you and give our maximum support but it doesn't work like that. I that I'm typing this lost my mum when I was teen(js3), stay at home for three years b4 I went to uni, hustle(i write project, assignment and test for my classmate) to feed my self thru uni, currently serving I paid for passport from my first 3months allawee, paying for my GRE with the next three month and I'm paying for application fee with the next three months.

The essence of my story is nobody is obligatory to help you no matter the condition you're passing thru or what you've experienced in life and if you eventually get help be grateful and know how to talk in polite manner to your prospective helpers.

Moreover we all have a dream or dreams but the thin line btw having dream and turning it to reality is by cutting one's cloth according to his/her material. There is no law that said all u want to become cannot be achieves if you study ur undergraduate in Nigeria and graduate with good grade which we eventually qualify for PG admission in any IVY you want.
To me your dream is vague to you and there is a different between having a dream and knowing how to achieve it. You need to go back to your drawing board and have a concise step of how you wanna achieve your dream else you live the rest of your life in mirage.

Peace.....

lol I'm not friends with him on Facebook, but do you think that's a good way to test authenticity? I have 2 FB accts one i created while I was in jss2 another I created in ss1 so I can simply change my FB name details, and upload a picture of my pastor, even if you want to meet me& pastor in person, i could come with him or even ask my dad's apprentice to come with me dressed like a pastor, I guess you'd ask for his certificate of baptism lol I don't think that's a good way to test authenticity, bro I'm ready to defend myself.

If u want to help me pls kindly do, ok I'm sorry let me ask if the college that admitted asked you sir, to prove the authenticity of your essays LORS and all that got you admitted pls will u gain admission?

I totally understand u though, the world is full of scammers and fake ppl. Pls if you want to help me kindly, if otherwise it's doesn't affect my future rather it's make me stronger more confident and bold.

The person that asked for your FB account is not dumb. He knows how he would verify you.

your last sentence is never how you ask for help from someone that knows nothing about you and is not obligated to help you.

Hey bro, this is too much. I understand what loyalty is, but I think you're sharing too much information about me. There's no need for this!
You need to understand that no matter what you do, even if you're spotless, some people would just never like approve you and see you for who you're; let alone being fallible human being. But do you care? You don't stop being yourself!
Thank you.

might be. But you've really helped a lot of people and that's highly commendable. You don't really have to be modest about it, he really appreciates all what you did for him.

Thanks ❣️ Sir, I totally understand you but my mind is made up, and besides I've got plan B, one of
the main reasons of me wanting to study in the US is to explore the field of robotics.
The interdisciplinary programs offered by US universities meets my needs, I'll design my curriculum to consist of 60% mechanical engineering, and 40% robotics.

I met students studying mechatronics here in Nigeria, I asked the how it is taught, all their response was pratical sessions are nothing to write home about, so tell me who would like waste 4 yrs studying without being able to build a functional robot, just only to code and program. Solve calculus learn CAD but no avenue to utilse your skills.
Absolute waste of time and resources!!!
Yes yes yes we know the advantages of studying in the US that is why we are here in the first place.

Personally from my experience. I would say don't give up. Take the SAT first. The person that advises you above, advised you according to his experience. Not to contradict all the truth he said but i've seen
a different experience. I know people that had nothing but got full ride. One got into Minerva with 70k+/year scholarship and Minerva called the US embassy to put him on the opportunity funds program after the deadline of application has passed. One got full ride to Franklin and Marshall, another to Rochester, another to Fisk.

Anything can happen, Just take the SAT first. If you get a full ride, good. If you don't get, then you'd continue here.

I have this notion that if I take the SAT, then I would need no evaluation.
Is this right?
for admission. You need SAT and a transcript (this can be either a high school transcript or an evaluated WAEC result)

It's the same way you need WAEC and JAMB. What you said up there is like saying "since I have WAEC then I don't have to take JAMB or vice versa"

Is is usually SAT or Evaluation, or both?
What advice do you have for a NECO result holder?
I don't really get you but SAT is alone. Evaluation can be done for both WAEC/NECO.

While all naces.org members evaluates WAEC, Some naces.org members also evaluates NECO but you'd have to check them yourself.

I was shortlisted from the school's district, considering academic performance, participation in National & Lagos State competitions, I also attended NNPC science competition, pz cussons chemistry competition, cowbellpedia, also numerous essay and debate competitions, code Lagos.
I also work with a charity Organization that teaches STEM to students from the rurals of Lagos State, I aced the scholarship interview, I met the WASSCE requirements, I aced the scholarship exam, I was awarded best in chemistry district v Lagos State e.t.c

I'm 16
Infact we hosted a zoom meeting with sanwo olu today and the minister of education.
with everything you wrote here. One of these persons or organizations you work it or have done something with. None of them can give you 35K for SAT?

I'm glad Mr fairheart is looking to help out but alternatively, also look at the opportunities you wrote above.

Send an email to: NNPC(their quiz organization arm), PZ cussons, Cowbellpedia, all the numerous essays and debate competitions you won. These people have corporate social responsibility and might be interested in your case. Who knows they might decide to sponsor everything. Send them an email, I'm sure at least one would be willing to spare $100.

Some of your responses are inconsistent and the sanwo olu poster you posted seemed like an open event but I really hope you're genuine.

then do the international passport. Next SAT is in October and December, a lot can happen before then. Prepare your other documents and start your applications while you hopefully await your SAT scores.

You have been enveloped by your dream, but tip the flap and try to look outside so you can see your realities.
Having a dream is not really hard, paying the price is. In my 20s, I learnt that if you want to help anyone who want to pursue their dreams, ask them what they have committed first. You know, what have they done for themself towards this dream? I can support one way or the other, but how far have you gone in supporting yourself to achieve this dream?
Let me guess you're from the grassroots. Life is very, very hard for youths who have beautiful dreams from this social class. But you have to look at the realities, so that you will be guided and not miss out.

Now, read this carefully. Getting admissions in the US entails many things: morale, consistent finance, academic soundness, focus to finish what you start. The financial aspect is the reality I want you step out of your dream to assess. As an undergraduate student, you have to apply to 2-3 schools at least, especially since you need full-ride scholarship and you don't have 100% assurance that if you apply to only one school, it will offer you that. Hence, 2-3 school is the best.

We'll use $/N400 for the calculation below.
Let us say each school application fee cost $40 X 3= $120 (N48, 000). SAT=N50, 000
Let us assume you manage resources and apply to schools that only ask for WAEC scratch card for admission. So, no WES or ECE.
Let us assume admission then came for fall 2021. SEVIS FEE = $350 (N140, 000); Visa fee =N70, 000
(God forbid that you're refused once, you will need another visa fee).
Let us say you need flight ticket in the fall, which would cost approximately N300K to 350K.
TOTAL: N608, 000

That's more than half of a million Naira. This is the reality I want you to partially remove the veil of your dream to see.
My dear, how do you plan to raise this money? How much can we give to support you from here? If you need moral and professional support, from the scratch to the end, I'm in for you. I will even try to support you with application fee, and get you people you can stay with in the States if your school is around them, for free. If someone here help you with 50K SAT fee, how will you get the 558K to run this race successfully?
If I were your mentor, these are the questions I'd ask you.

Now, sit down quietly and think. What can you do? How much can you raise? Who can you ask to help? Anybody in the family? If none, as that may be the reason you come here to ask for support, please focus on studying in Nigeria.

Nigeria is a wicked country and its entire system has been made hostile and shaped by difficult hands against children of the poor at the grassroots. It is what it is! But you have to fight for your dreams anyway. How you fight for this dream is now left for you to device...
You can study in the US, but it seems the best time for that is not now. Maybe Master's is ideal.
Got your request for DM. We will talk better.

exactly.

If you've taken the SAT and have your international passport. It's easier for you to convince someone to sponsor you. If you score high in the SAT, people would be more empathetic to help you one way or the other.

Help yourself first, it would motivate others to help you.

Thanks ❣️
But it's expensive I'm just a poor boy, seeking for greener pastures!

I lost my job my parents are only supporting me with prayers no financial support from them, but I've got a sponsor for only my Visa and flight he just needs me to gain admission by myself

I'm too broke to take the SAT, firstly I don't have an international passport, no money to pay for the SAT.

won't you need the international passport for flights eventually?

You have to make commitments. You have to have international passport, SAT score and extra money to do one or two things aside evaluating which is optional.

If you can borrow and believe you'd ace the exam, please do. Its a dead end you're heading for with 0 funds for this process, unless a good Samaritan here chooses to help you.

I wish I was as wise as you. When I was younger, I was arrogant and wanted to show or prove how smart I was. Had I known, I would have chosen a better environment rather than a place where you would work very hard to be average. I could have been a valedictorian at most schools. I remember a professor saying, "we may fail you, but you are still the best".

please, what school did you do your undergraduate?
