Lmaooooo!!!! Wahala for who dey selfless o!!!! Noh vex ehn!

I still don't get why you need information about the school I am going to, the university I attended and where I work, or how it translates to being selfish.

But it's fine. your opinion is yours and you have every right to it.

Thanks for sharing.

While they were overly insulting in their responses to you, i think you should have shared the name of your school. And yes you know why they need it.

Pray for favor!
Prepare well! Do mock interviews with friends...
Get there 1hr before the time. (I stayed in a hotel close to the embassy the night before)
Put on comfortable shoes.

If you need possible questions to prepare you, please reach out to me here.

It is not for you to prepare to lie or arrange your story ooo.. no! It’s just to be better articulated and coherent when you’re in front of the VO. Cuz those nerves!!! so they don't embarrass you.

All the best guys!!!
Congratulations. How much did you pay for the hotel?

Further note for those who have began their program online this fall. When you get to the interview session, not much is asked once you have started your program. I had my VISA interview last week. Once the VO asks' what school do you intend to go? You begin by telling the VO that you are a masters/doctorate student of x and y at the university of x and y. That you intend to return in-person this coming spring. You will need to show the VO a colored print out of a proof of your course enrolment, tution and fees payment and school's unofficial transcript. This was what I did. My interview was not up to a minute. Reasons why I found it difficult to forward my transcript here. It was so brief and fast. I was extremely surprised. I was not asked any question like the others... questions like why the school, financial justification etc. All these was not required from me. As they have always stated on this platform, be confident enough that you are a scholar and you know your worth. Bodily countenance really matters. I ended up speaking when I was not asked any further question by the VO, more like a conversation with him. I was confused as he kept on typing and remained silent as if he already had all the information needed. Apart from what school I was going to attend, he asked about my marital status and that was all. It was that simple but it may vary for others though. Just make sure you have every of your original documents to proof all that you stated on your DS-160. They did not need all that from me sha. But thank God I was able to present my school's tuition and fees payment receipt, unofficial/non-graded transcript and my course enrolment print out. Immediately, I showed him this. That was what made it for me. This should help those awaiting interview that have already started their program virtually this fall and returning in-person for spring 2021. My regards to every one in the house. You guys are really doing a great job here and that is what motivated me to drop this here. Gracias
Thank you very much for this.

It was actually the answer he gave plus the fact that the VO wasn't enlightened enough. 50% GA in his case means half-time assistantship which is equivalent to 20 hours per week. Some schools have it that way. I blame the school for assuming everyone will understand the ambiguous term
I don't think it's the answer but the funding information on the I-20.

Anybody
as far as there's 6 months validity period after your Visa application, then there's no problem.

Meaning if your passport would expire expire in February next year, you can still use it.

Where exactly did you get this info
normally that's how expedited works. But someone on this thread got an expedited date even without getting an interview date. It's like they've loosened the modalities due to the peculiarities of these times.

Also, you can only apply for expedited 60 days to your resumption in spring.

Admitwithschola, I saw a post about you and your friends helping guys with 320+ GRE score by returning some of the fees. I will like to ask if that offer is still up. I have written my GRE, and I had 324, I wouldn't mind getting help to finance my TOEFl because my NYSC allowance I am currently using for it is kind of stretched thin now. Any Nairalander who also will like to help me in any possible way, I will be grateful, thank you.
my friend had 329, I would love this opportunity for him.

I understand brother, but my concern is about the sevis number they generate for me, will the school with funding generate another sevis number for me or it I’ll have to use that sevis number that was generated by the school without funding? Please your response is warmly appreciated
it would not affect anything. The school with full funding will generate another SEVIS ID for you. It's no issue at all.

According to the email, they didn't even mention new I-20. They said even if the start date has passed, they'll need the hard copy. So it means the fall 2020 I-20 is still valid. What you have to do is make sure your new start date has been updated with SEVIS by your school. With a new I-20, whether e-copy or hard copy, your start date has been updated automatically. So I'll advise going with both the old I-20 and a print out of the new one.
no, According to the email from the Lagos consulate.

"electronic I-20s would not be accepted".

What is the source of this new email and when was it put out?

what is wrong with my account embarassed embarassed embarassed?...i am seeing no slots available
most likely, the slots are all filled now.

I said here that Abuja would open soon. Just that this time they didn't announce it.

As it stands, those that Haven't got dates should try to be monitoring this page and the visa page closely. They would keep releasing dates small small like this.

Most likely after this first round is over or close to it's ending.

From my guess, I think they were just 30 slots per day. When I chose my date, I saw 7:00am (9) which indicated 9 slots left. When I booked and got the appointment pdf, I saw 7:00am (22) which I feel the 22 indicated I was the 22nd person to book that day slot.

Note: all these are assumptions.
you are right actually. Same thing I was thinking before I saw your post.

When I was about booking I saw 12 slots left. In the stuff I'm number 18.

No need to rush anything, so you'll not make expensive mistakes that you jeopardize your chances.
They just opened the site, and I am sure that before the end of the day, those who need dates will be able to book.

The 6-day slots are more than enough for all F, J & M applicants in Nigeria. I am sure that during normal operational hours, the U.S embassy interviews more than 100 applicants per day. So, if that figure is close, that is like 600 F, M, J applicants for the entire slots. Guys, all of you will have date! Relax. Also, I think they only want to interview in Lagos, which I think is fine.

If date is not showing on your appointment-scheduling profile yet, give it time, or wait 7PM or tomorrow.
The dates will not finish.
I hope this is the case but personally I don't think it is.

The slots are not 100 per day considering the speed at which it was getting filled.

What i'm quite certain of is that they'd open new appointment dates after this one. Abuja too would open.

Everyone should keep hope alive. Those that have not gotten I-20 should make efforts to do so and pay the required fees. Most likely, they'd continue this format after November 20.

Hello,

You are receiving this email because you requested a student visa interview through our EmergencyLagosNIV inbox during a time which the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos was closed to student visa operations. We have not yet resumed full student visa operations. However, very soon we will publicly release an extremely limited number of student visa interviews, which include the visa classes F, M, J and their derivatives.

These appointments will be on a first-come, first-served basis and are not transferrable. Any attempt to reserve blocks of interviews will be cancelled and the applicant will be blocked from applying in the future. The dates of these interviews are below:

16 October at 7:00 A.M.

23 October at 7:00 A.M.

30 October at 7:00 A.M.

6 November at 7:00 A.M.

13 November at 7:00 A.M.

20 November at 7:00 A.M.

We will be releasing these appointment slots at 9:00 A.M., West African Time on Monday, September 28. At this time, you will be able to go online and schedule an appointment for the dates listed above.

Prior to this date, please complete the following:

Confirm that you have the original I-20 or DS-2019 that was mailed (not emailed) to you by the university or academic institution. An emailed copy will not suffice. Even if the program start date listed on your form has passed, we will still need the original document. If you do not have this document, you visa will be refused.
Pay the SEVIS fee. If your SEVIS fee is not paid and/or you cannot be located in the SEVIS system, you visa will be refused.
If your program start date listed on your form has already passed, you will need to contact your learning institution to update your start date in SEVIS. If the SEVIS system shows that your program start date has passed, you will be refused.
Fill out the DS-160, choose the appropriate visa class and pay the visa application fee.

Please note that these interviews are extremely limited in number, so you will not be rescheduled for any reason. If you can get an appointment, be prepared to present on that date and time with all your paperwork in order.

Additionally, please note that all queries to this inbox seeking clarification or additional information will be deleted and ignored.

Respectfully,

U.S. Consulate General, Lagos, Non-Immigrant Visa Unit
