3rd Interview

May 12 Abuja (In my mind i was like if this one no work. na to say bye bye to USA. I no fit kill myself because of the stressed that i passed through that day. I had to travel across four states before i get to lagos and fly to Abuja)

Nothing changed in terms of schools and course. I just defered my admissions. I applied to MTSU but got denied. I got promoted at work and also had a change of Job role.

Before i got interviewed, One woman got denied. The woman almost scattered embassy that day ooo. She was just shouting that they must tell her the reason she was denied and she won't leave until someone explained to her. She said she has travelled to US more than 25 times and all her kids are citizens. They called like 6 security personnels for the woman but she no gree at all. It was until one nice american woman came to talk to her. That was when she decided to leave. Anyway. It was the same Visa Officer that denied the woman that also interviewed me. grin

VO: Good Morning
Me: Good Morning
VO: Why are you going to the US?
Me: I'm going to the US to pursue masters degree in Management information system at bowie state university Maryland.
VO: Why did you choose the school?
Me: I chose the school because it is affordable and because of my research plans which is based on restructuring the power industry in nigeria using information technology. I will be working with professor Azene zenebe whose research focus are based on information systems security, crime in electronic business solution and business intelligence and data mining. This will help me to achieve my aim of revamping the power industry in Nigeria. I'm currently working in the power industry and i know the problems we are facing ( VO cuts in)
VO: You started working there one months ago?
Me: No Sir. I actually got promoted and also had a change of Job role. I have been working there for 4 years I was formerly ....... now I'm ..........
VO: Okay. Sorry about that. I didn't see that
Me: So i continue with my explanation on why i chose the schools. I can't remember what i said but the VO was just nodding his head
VO: Who is your sponsor?
Me: My dad. He is a businessman with investment in agriculture and real estate. He started a feedmill factory about 15 years ago when he retired from Nigeria Customs Service. He has about 3 properties in Oyo State, He is living in one of the properties while the other two are being managed by me and twin brother. His properties in lagos is managed by my elder sister. He was typing when i was saying these.
VO: He just brought out that dreaded blue paper and gave it to me. Infact USA consulate don dey make me hate anything blue. Blue used to be my favorite color but not anymore. The color don break my heart too much. I wasn't really heart broken compare to the first time because i sacrificed a lot of things that first time. I did everything possible to get the visa. I wrote GRE, Duolingo and also did wes. I applied to several schools but I believed my time has not come yet. So i will take a break from anything USA for now and focus on my career. Thanks everyone. God bless you
Third Interview Was really good

Not trying to disagree, but I got accepted for an undergrad biochemistry program with a $26300 scholarship without taking standardized tests. You can get accepted without taking the SAT or even the ACT.
Taking one or both of these tests will improve your chances and give you a slight edge over other applicants who did not take them but it does not guarantee acceptance(please still take it if you can). Ensure your O'levels or A'levels are wonderful, submit your secondary school transcripts, get your teachers to write superb recommendation letters and write a killer personal statement. Include supplementary essays too if necessary and hope for the best.

Also, it would be a good idea if your brother uses the Common App to apply. He can apply to as much as 20 schools and even get the application fees waived if his counselor or principal can attest that he will not be able to afford all of them. It is a wonderful platform, just sign up, fill in your information and pick the schools you want to apply to. You will be required to fill in your O'levels or A'Levels, standardized tests scores(if any) and GPA. Your teachers will also need to send the recommendation letters on the website. Upload your personal statement(you will be given a prompt) and supplementary essays(if any is needed) and fill in your extracurriculars.
It is a long process sha but it's worth it. Search Google and YouTube for more info.
For spring or Fall?

VISA APPROVAL TESTIMONY
No Funding
No GRE
One admission in the US

On the 10th of June 2021 I was denied US visa at the Lagos embassy. I couldn’t say the exact reason why i was denied. This was my first attempt.
I was so frustrated and I left the embassy in pains.
When I got home I paid for another visa fee and started looking for date. I didn’t see date in Lagos so i moved my search to Abuja. I saw October 24th in Abuja, I picked it and applied for Expedited appointment, it was approved within 24 hours and I got a new date for 9th of August, 2021.
On the 8th of August I got to Abuja via Arik Airline and lodged at St. Matthias Hotel.
My interview date (9th of August) came and I went to the embassy. I was interviewed by a slim white lady with blonde hair.
See my transcript below :

V.O : you are going to **** for masters in computer science
Me : yes please with focus on Information security.
V.O : what do you do currently?
Me : I explained
V.O : what will you do after the degree?
Me : I explained
V.O : who’s your sponsor ?
Me : My Maternal uncle. He works as a Business project manager in New Jersey
(V.o cuts in )
V.O : but during your last interview you said Cousin
Me : (I was already shaking) I can’t remember maybe that was a misrepresentation but my sponsor is my mummy’s brother that’s my maternal uncle
V.O : typing….. she looked at me and said he lives and works in New Jersey
Me: Yes
AND THE VO GAVE ME WHITE PAPER…….
I bursted into joy ……God showed up for me. To say I was denied 2 months earlier. I’m grateful I didn’t give up.
This is to encourage everyone here to keep pushing and I want to advise that not everything you read online is correct information, if I asked people they will say don’t reapply immediately after first denial, some will say if you have family abroad don’t fill it on your Ds160. My elder sister is a US CITIZEN and I filled in her details and my sponsor lives in New Jersey.
Don’t listen to people, fill your ds160 truthfully.
God will always show up, he makes all things beautiful in his own time.
See you in America . To God Alone be all the glory .
Congratulations brother

You are spot on!

The average monthly salary for my current role in the US is btw 6-7k monthly. That is about N3m in Nigerian currency: my LinkedIn profile couldn’t have been the problem. I detailed my job and employment history (from 2009 till date- my past employers, role and responsibilities ) as it is on my CV and LinkedIn while completing my DS 160:

Recently, my current employer was quoted on NSE and my name was submitted to the capital market through the equity firm. So, if he had googled my name, he would have found very interesting stuffs about my profile.

But, I guess yesterday was not just my day. I am going to reapply.

My thought exactly what if one applies from outside Nigeria, I believe it will be different and better
most times you’re told to go back to your country and apply. If you’re not a resident or have valid reason of stay in the new country, it’s not advisable to apply.

Let’s say you’re going to Ghana. Your passport would show your date of entry to Ghana and if the purpose of entry is realized to be the Visa, you’d most likely be sent back.

Let me be sincere with you. The date issue in Nigeria is handled by the Nigerians who work with the embassy. I started to suspect this rubbish stuff when they removed date from the right side screen. (Note My another country account still shows it). The Nigeria time manager just fix date as they like. (In my other country account, you will still get july because they follow it serially).

Nigerians are the problem of Nigeria.
This should be true. It was in the New recently that people were paying 200k to secure interview dates.

1. Find a better reason why you chose social work or at least, rephrase what you wrote up there.

2. In why you choose the school. Since you’re going for undergraduate, I don’t think you have any business with research not to talk of thesis, that is mostly for advanced degrees.

3. 2014 till now is 7 years, what are the other things you were doing?

4. your reason for returning to Nigeria has to be stronger.

Please I'm seeing conditional admission on my admission letter stating that I will have take a course to get a full admission, please hope that won't be hindering my school for issuing my I 20 form and I also hope it won't have any negative impact on my visa processes.
conditional admission is a red flag but if it’s not stated on your I-20, I don’t think you have so much to worry about. Prepare a back up answer should in case it comes up tho.

Anyone that Fairheart has helped and has Fairheart’s contact or is on any Fairheart groups knows the amount of people he does mock interviews for. If you also see his status you’d know that he has a target of 60 F1 approvals for the past 2 admission seasons and whenever someone is approved, he posts it. From this, one can make an educated guess. I honestly don’t know how defending someone makes me him.

Do you know how many people lagosismyhome have helped directly or indirectly on this thread. Do you ever see her brag about it or charge people for it? Even with her tight schedule as an employee, mother and a wife. And several other people like that on this thread. It’s people like fairheart that frustrates those truly kindhearted people effort.

I’m disappointed you had the confidence to type and post this and even backed it up with statistics. Shows you guys both eat from the same plate. SHAME ON YOU.
I will not like us to go on and on about this. I have never met Fairheart in my life and I’ve never done any transaction with him. I commend people that come here and help people for free but please don’t castigate them if they want to charge any fees for their personal time especially when you can easily ask on this thread and get a reply. Also, the seldom times he charges should not remove all the ones he has done for free. Lastly, coming here once in a while to help one or two people is totally different from trying to help 200 in a season. Thank you.

Chairman, this statement is very wrong. Nobody gets visa simply because of any moniker here. He might have helped but it ends there. The person who applies for the visa puts all the effort actually .

This is why t.woods always hammer on doing ur research by ur self and getting appropriate help from the right authorities. Lest , someone can wake up and claim to have "singlehandedly" given u visa
bro I’m sure you understand what I meant. Obviously no one can give you visa here, they can only help. You have to do the final work yourself, but the effort of helping you increases your chances.

I know the fairheart issue has died down but I must say I was utterly astonished when I got to know this guy is still on this thread extorting people (as if Nigeria isn’t hard enough). He has been doing this since 2019 and probably before then. I’ll repeat what I said in 2019 again — “If previous people that graced this wonderful thread were charging for every piece of information they were dishing out, how many of us will be where we are today ?”

To everyone supporting the guy, SHAME ON YOU.

Shalom.
A lot of you on here are heinous and bitter.

1. Fairheart clearly stated that if you reach out to him personally you can be charged.

2. At least 200 persons reach out to Fairheart every admission season to help with mock interview. How do you expect a grown man to waste his time helping people for free? If he had a job, do you know how much he’d make during these times? And about 80% of the 200, he does them for free while he charges the rest. Still, you people that can’t sacrifice your time to help other people are bent on spoiling his name.

3. I agree that his assumptions are sometimes bogus and he has this incorrigible “I know it all” complex but that shouldn’t negate all the good works he’s done. A lot of people on this thread have gotten visas because he chose to help them for free.

4. Information is being posted here everyday for everyone to read and all questions are answered, but if you still feel the need to inbox someone to help you and the person would spend at least 30 mins of his time, especially a grown man with bills to pay, then you must be ready if he decides to charge a fee for his time.

Shalom.

Good day all,
Great Job what you guys are doing.

Quick one, i applied for a F1 visa, sadly i was denied few days ago, before my interview date, i noticed my school made a mistake in my i20, by putting "personal funds" instead of family funds,as my source of funding. The interview was going well, until i was asked how am i going to pay for my trip, and i said my dad, immediately she typed for some seconds and handed me the blue slip.

Now, i have been working as a banker for about 3 years, i have saved some funds, and my bank statement shows a tranx count of about 30mill in about 1year, although closing bal is about 2m now.

Should i fill a new ds160 and maintain the personal funds and maybe i can expalin to the VO that i will he funding the trip then my dad can help out id need be? Or i should mail my school asking them to change my i20?

Please guys your inputs are appreciated.

Profile background:
Bsc Economics
Graduated 2015, (2.1)
GRE 300
TOEFL 98
3 years work experience
Intended coursw of study: information systems.
my I-20 also had personal funds along with many people I know what had their visas approved. Personal funds just means money that’s coming from your end (weather family or your money), then assistantship/scholarship is money they’re giving you.

Hey Guys,

My first attempt. Help me thank God, my visa was approved June 3.

Thanks to everyone that posted their transcript here because I used it to practice.

My transcript:

VO : Your passport and I-20
Me: Good morning ( I passed it)

VO : Why did you choose this course and this school?
Me : I have been an ardent follower of professor xyz and he happens to be a lecturer in this great institution. Also, I have a couple of previous and current colleagues who are graduates of this institution and they have amazing reviews about the standard of education.

VO: what do you do currently?
Me: I’m a senior software engineer

VO: I can see you have a scholarship of 17k why is your sibling still sponsoring you with 32k?
Me: before the scholarship, she has already promised to sponsor me with that amount.

VO: What does she do?
Me: She was formally an accountant with xyz oil and gas Ltd but she currently runs her own company and she’s doing absolutely well.

VO: How long has she been running this company?
Me: 2 years now

VO: Are you sure she can afford the amount since she’s been running this business in this country for just two years?
Me: Oh yes, she makes a lot of profit and she already has a staff strength of 22 employees

VO: (Turns off mic and types for a long time and takes my i-20 to another of her colleagues to confirm a couple of things)
Me: (singing in my heart Moses bliss song titled faithful to fail me, also praying that I’ll not leave here with a blue paper)

VO: (closed my passport and returned I-20 slide her had into the pile of white paper)
Me: (singing in my heart JudiKay song titled Capable God)

VO: you’d need this 1-20 blah blah blah...(hand over my 1-20 with white sheet, said a lot of other instructions then said)
I wish you a safe trip to the United States of America.
Me: thank you.

When I stepped out, I was actually crying, a lot of people were telling me don’t worry you can try again, without realizing that I got an approval.

Guys, you need to pray, your visa is totally dependent on the person interviewing you, his/her mood and what ever they feel at that time.

A lot of people were more prepared than I was, answered better that I did, where asked more technical questions and they gave amazing answers but were also rejected.

I’m not trying to scare anyone but trust me, when you get there you’d see for yourself.

This is my first time and when I entered the hall, I was gripped with fear, but I had just one confidence, and that was God has gone before me and He was also with me.

I wish everyone success and thanks to Everyone sharing there experience.

this is the total truth sha. Prepare and pray because the mood of the V.O is 50% in determining your approval. That’s why you’d see some people talk rubbish and they’d still be approved. Prepare very hard nevertheless.

However, my dept reached out to me on Thursday last week offering me a GA position in the department - someone else previously awarded had cancelled. However this is coming quite late and I reached out to my International Student Office on Friday to revise my I20 but I haven't heard back from them and it might be too late already, since my interview is tomorrow at Lagos. My GA offer letter from my department comes with full tuition waiver plus $21,000 salary for 1 year employment, leaving me with about $3k deficit. My mother will sponsor the remaining deficit.

Is it advisable to go with my GA offer letter to my interview as proof of my GA funding? Has anyone been in this situation before?

Thank you in advance.
Cancel and reapply o. there's still a lot of time. if you can reschedule please do. if its to pay another 67K please do.

Y’all should stop littering this thread with mock or proposed transcripts

We need actual transcripts
I don't know when some of you joined Nairaland ooo but posting mock transcript is a very big part of this thread, I don't know why it even reduced over time. Before, almost everyone going for interview posts their proposed transcripts for the gurus of this thread to review. Till 2019, it was still extremely common on here, so please don't shame people from posting their transcripts here, you might be blocking them from the help they need.
