Empiree: You would be surprised that surgery could cause this thing. This is why it is not always recommended unless as the last solution. It changes things. A while back in America, African American guy slipped into coma and was rushed to the hospital. They placed him on anesthesia and performed surgery on him. He woke up from coma few days later and started speaking spanish He never spoke nor understood spanish. When his family was talking to him at the hospital, he recognize them but they dont understand what he is saying. He doesnt understand them either. Took him few days before he regained himself. So it is very possible the surgery has effect on him and it could also be other thing. Speaking another language after surgery is normal. A Christian in Jigawa following surgery she started preaching oneness of Allah and other Islamic preaches. When she's back to herself, the first thing that come out of her mouth was "Jesus" as she stretched. My point is anesthesia reaction is temporary and doesn't last for too long. The bookworm guy is either bookworm before the surgery or he has suffered surgical consequences (not necessarily from anesthesia). |

PRESIDENT BUHARI THANKS PLATEAU PEOPLE, SUES FOR GREATER RESTRAINT IN FUTURE CAMPAIGN STOPS
President Muhammadu Buhari extends heartfelt appreciation to the people of Plateau State, who turned out in innumerable numbers to welcome him in Jos, during his presidential campaign visit on Saturday. The Rwang Pam Township Stadium, venue of the event, was completely overrun by a sea of humanity, made of ecstatic supporters of the President, who kept hailing the man they love and admire. So much was the tumult that the President could not eventually address the crowd.
After waiting for about an hour, with the melee not receding, but rather increasing in tempo and fervour, President Buhari received illustrious Plateau citizens who were crossing to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from other political parties, waved at the appreciative crowd, and left for Abuja.
The President lauds Plateau people for turning out in their thousands to welcome him into Jos, lining the roads right from the airport, defying the boiling sun. He thanks them for their steadfastness over the years, and for continued faith in the administration, which was indicated by the turnout at the stadium.
President Buhari sues for greater restraint from teeming supporters and appreciative Nigerians in other campaign stops ahead, pleading that they allow the campaign programme run as planned, since it is also an opportunity for him to give a stewardship report.
"We have been serving you for about four years, we want another four years mandate from you, it is needful for you to allow us give you a report. You deserve it," the President says.
Campaign visits resume on Monday, as President Buhari is resolved to get to all parts of the country, before the February 14 deadline.
Presidential election holds on February 16, 2019.

Later, the crowd, believed to be mostly supporters of the All Progressives Congress, surged toward the podium while some climbed the top of vehicles in the entourage of Mr Buhari.
As security personnel battled unsuccessfully to push the crowd back, Mr Buhari left the venue of the rally without delivering his speech.

President Muhammadu Buhari, saturday called on Nigerians to vote back the All Progressives Congress, APC, so that there completion of more projects and construction of a new ones.
President Buhari made the call when he commissioned the N6 billion new Baro River Port Complex, executed by Chinese firm, CGCC Global Project Nigeria Limited.
He said if the Baro River Port project had continued with the comprehensive masterplan for the development of the Nigerian Inland Waterways spanning over 10,000 kilometers across 28 states of the country, designed in his days as Chairman Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF), the carnages on the road of Lagos-Ibadan express way as a result of road accidents and insecurity would have been minimized.
He said while other governments come to organize, others come to destroy, assuring that the Baro Port will be upgraded, the railway revived and dual carriage way provided to improve the economic activities of the Port but on water and on line.
Also speaking, the Niger State Governor, Abubakar Bello said the people of Baro town were happy because the projects will provide jobs for both skilled and unskilled youths of the community.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Nigerian Inland Water Ways (NIWA), Olorunnimbe Mamora, said the Port is the realization of the masterplan done under Buhari as Chairman PTF.
He said that considering the huge benefits of Inland water transportation and Baro’s strategic location for the evacuation of farm produce and other commodities, the present administration vigorously pursued the completion of the Port hitherto abandoned by previous administration and ensured the provision of the required equipment for its effective and efficient functioning.
He said, “It is yet another of President Buhari’s promise made and promise fulfilled.
“The Port has quay length of 150 Metres, Cargo Stacking Yard of 7,000 square meters, a Transit Shed of 3,600 square meters and estimated capacity of 5,000 TEU at a time.
“Some of the installed machinery are the 84-ton mobile harbour carne, one reach stacker, and three forklifts of varying capacities. Other facilities in this Port include the administrative block, water treatment plant, power generating plant and staff quarters among others. It is indeed a Morse right Port.”
In his remarks, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha, under whose watch the project was project, noted that the Baro town is rich with history of country and first housed Lord Luguard before he eventually moved to Lokoja.
The SGF recalled that Baro used to have a thriving river port and a railway line during the colonial era, used for evacuation of farm produce and mineral resources.
He said the opening of the Port will bring to life economic activities.
The minister of transport, Rotimi Ameachi said the project was completed following the matching order handed down by President for them to complete all abandoned projects.
He expressed hope that the old rail lines used in the colonial days will be revived even as the road network linking the port is already being upgraded. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2019/01/vote-apc-for-completion-of-more-projects-buhari/Mynd44 Lalasticlala |

To come back Jan 14 for another test run. Minister for transportation Amaechi has directed CCECC to complete Iju-Agbado section of Lagos-Ibadan rail in 2 weeks. The minister gave the directive on Thursday while taking a train ride on the ongoing Lagos-Ibadan rail project from Lagos-Abeokuta and Ibadan sections.
He wanted the Chinese firm to speed up ongoing work between Iju in Lagos and Agbado in Ogun, due to the high volume of passengers. The minister pledge to come for a test-run on Jan.14, to ensure that the sections were completed. “The problem the contractor has now is the civil work between Agbado and Iju which is critical to me because I don’t think passengers should go and board train from Agbado. “I believe that it is important that the closer we are to Lagos, the better for the rail. “That is what we are battling now because I want them to use the same speed noticed in some sections in the construction of Agbado area to Iju. “They want us to flag off from Agbado but I don’t want because I feel Iju will be more appropriate to flag off and they said they will be ready with that axis in two weeks. “ I think we should get to Iju because it will not be wise to drive from Lagos to Agbado to board train,” he said. According to him, the slow pace of work witnessed on the project was due to inadequate equipment and manpower. “They argued that lack of equipment was responsible for the pace of work because the equipment were not on-the-shelf equipment that can just be picked and paid for. “What is causing the delay on the Agbado to Iju axis is equipment related. “The equipment have to be applied from overseas, we will have to wait for the processing and then ship them down and if we wait for those equipment, we might be finishing the job when the equipment will arrive. “We are expecting 30 passenger coaches mixed with locomotive wagons, 300 wagons and two sets of Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) made up of ten coaches each and two motorcars will arrive Lagos before the construction work is completed,” he said. On the ongoing Itakpe-Warri test-run, the minister said it would extend to May after which it would commence commercial activities. Politics › December-Deadline: We'll Hold The Entire Nation Stagnant - Nigerian Student by FriendNG(op): 8:23pm On Dec 22, 2018 |
we are going to hold the entire nation stagnant. By that time ,we will shut down airports and major roads across Nigeria THE National Association of Nigerian Students,NANS,has given the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU,a December 31 deadline to resolve their differences and call off the ongoing strike, vowing that it would mobilize members to disrupt the 2019 general elections if both sides remained adamant after expiration of the deadline.
The body also vowed that unlike in previous elections were politicians used its members for elections for their ulterior motives, the forthcoming elections will see a different students who are not ready to be used anymore.
Addressing the media in Abuja,NANS Zone A Coordinator,Umar Faruk Lawal, regretted that after several meetings, both government and ASUU were yet to reach agreement with a view to calling off the ongoing strike.
INEC prepared for credible poll in 2019- Yakubu
To this end,he warned:” Today,we want to announce to the federal government, the ASUU and to the whole world that very soon,we are coming out in full force. It’s not a threat to the government neither is it a threat to ASUU,we are not afraid of anybody that wants to jeopardize the future of the Nigerian students or the Nigerian masses. We are coming out and we are going to hold the entire nation stagnant. By that time ,we will shut down airports and major roads across Nigeria
“We are warning the federal government and not appealing to them because it’s our right. Most of our leaders, from the president to the permanent secretaries went to school free of charge but some of us go to do bricklayer work to come and pay our school fees while some hang around in campuses to do one or two printing work to pay their fees.
“The greatest surprise to us is that some people are celebrating that the federal government is doing well in education,it is not doing well at all.
“I want this message to reach the table of the president that 2019 is around the corner. All the PVCs of the Nigerian students are not meant for the government that is not taking good care of our educational sector.
“If they don’t call off this strike before the end of December 31,2018,we as NANS are going to resolve it for them,”he said. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/12/strike-nans-gives-fg-ASUU-december-31-deadline-to-resolve-differences/amp/lalasticlala mynd44 |
Politics › Vice President, FEC Members To Ride On Lagos-Ibadan First Week Of Jan. - Amaechi by FriendNG(op): 4:40pm On Dec 19, 2018 |
* as Amaechi, lawmakers embark on one-hour test-run drive
The ambitious Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge project is on the verge of coming to fruition as Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is expected to embark on a train ride from Iju in Lagos to Abeokuta, Ogun state next month.
This emerged on Tuesday as the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, alongside members of the House of Representatives Committee on land transport embarked on a test-run drive from kilometre 41 to 73 within the Ogun state axis during the routine inspection of the project.
The team alongside journalists rode on two rail cars for over one hour which moved on some of the already laid tracks.
The 156- kilometre Lagos-Ibadan fast rail with extension to Nigeria’s premier port in Apapa is a three-year project but the contractor, the China Civil Engineering and Construction Company (CCECC) is being pressured to deliver the project in less than two years.
While there are some challenges over the right of way in the Lagos axis, work has progressed in Ogun state axis with the contractor working day and night in line with the government’s marching order.
An official of the CCECC told Daily Trust that personnel have been deployed to work 24/7 in addition to the massive equipment and technologies mobilized to the sites.
Amaechi however lauded the performance of the contractor on the Ogun axis and charged them to speed up from Abeokuta to Ibadan, stressing that by the first week of January, the Vice President and some members of the Federal Executive Council would embark on train ride from Iju in Lagos to Abeokuta.
He said after that, a free ride for passengers on the axis would be declared for people living in the area.
The Managing Director of the NRC, Engr. Fidet Okhiria, disclosed that eight locomotives and wagons would be deployed for the free test-run service.
The excited Amaechi after the ride which almost extended to Abeokuta, said, “When we started, it was a huge forest. In fact, as we traversed this place, most places are no longer known to us if you remember. In fact there are now bridges in the little water we used to drive across. There are now valleys in the hills we used to climb. There are changes.
“We are gradually coming to the end of the project because we are six kilometres away from Abeokuta and I have been assured that we would be able to ride from Iju to Abeokuta at least by the first week in January.
“The idea is to bring the Vice President and some ministers to join us in the ride.
“When we do the ride, we will then allow passengers to use it up to Abeokuta. Our target is that by the end of the month, we should get to Ibadan by rail; then we can begin to put the pressure on them to build the stations.
“They are working on the stations but they are slow. But I have told them the emphasis should be on the tracks. In fact today, I will tell them to focus on one track to the end so that while we are using that one, you are building the second one. But as you are building the two, it is slowing down the construction period.”
The Chairman, House Committee on Land Transport, Rep. AbdulMumin Jibrin (APC, Kano) said the committee is impressed with the level of work done on the project, saying many Nigerians were not aware that a project of such magnitude was going on. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/osinbajo-ministers-to-ride-on-lagos-ibadan-train-next-month.htmlMynd44 Lalasticlala |

Politics › History As Ameachi, Lawmakers Test Run 32km Segment Lagos-ibadan Rail (pics) by FriendNG(op): 4:15pm On Dec 19, 2018 |
It was a mere 50-minute ride, yet it was historic in many ways.
The first standard guage rail line between Lagos, Nigeria’s business headquarters, and Ibadan in the heart of the Southwest was test run.
The 36-kilometre journey was the result of a project that began in June 2017.
Leading the group of select passengers was Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi. The 150km per hour speed will be realised early next year when the job is completed. It is comfortable inside the rail car.
The minister had, during his routine visit on December 4, insisted he must ride a rail car on the tracks by December 18.
With him on the 36-kilometre journey were members of the House Committee on Land Transportation, led by its chairman Abdulmumin Jibrin, officials of the ministries of Transportation and Works, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) and representatives of the China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC), as well as a consortium of engineers and consultants.
Amaechi said Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and other members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) would ride on the track in the first week of January, next year.
He dedicated the success of the project to the media, who according to him, kept a tab on the project since it started in June 2017.
The minister commended the contractor for bringing the project to fruition within 18 months. He challenged local engineers to rise to salvage the nation from foreign domination.
Amaechi said: “While praising the Chinese for their engineering prowess which has turned a rain forest into an emerging city, our engineers must see this as a challenge and save Nigeria from the clutches of foreign domination in the area of construction.
“This project is nearing completion. Right now, work has advanced and we are six kilometres away from Abeokuta. The contractors have assured me that we would be able to ride from Iju in Lagos, to Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital by the first week of January, 2019. The idea is to bring the vice president and some ministers to join in the ride.”
He said that once the track is flagged off, the route would be opened for passenger traffic, while efforts would be doubled to ensure that the standard gauge be taken to Ibadan.
He said work would begin on the construction of stations immediately the project gets to Ibadan.
The minister said: “I directed that they should stop work on the stations and concentrate on the tracks. They should thereafter return to the project once the tracks have been laid to Ibadan.
“If the train gets to Ibadan by January, the government would continue to run free train ride from Iju to Ibadan, whether or not election is on, in line with presidential directive.
“We will start putting passengers as we test the tracks and they can stop anywhere they want to stop on the corridor up to Ibadan.”
He disclosed that the NRC would mobilise locomotives and coaches from the Abuja-Kaduna line, while the government awaits the delivery of the coaches from China.
Amaechi said the government already anticipates heavy traffic on the Lagos-Ibadan Standard gauge, a fact he said was responsible for requests by his ministry for the purchase of more locomotives and coaches to service the corridor.
Jibrin told reporters that the Transportation minister deserve commendation from the Federal Government on behalf of Nigerians for the extent of work achieved within the short period of time.
The lawmaker, who expressed excitement at the speed and pace of the project, wondered why the project has been under-reported, promising to personally make his impression known to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Jibrin said his committee was happy to have acceded to the minister’s invitation to witness the test run of the tracks.
“We want to assure the ministry and Nigerians that we would continue to support this project and do everything within our powers to ensure it comes to fruition,” Jibrin said.
Project coordinator Leo Yin said the CCECC had been working round the clock on the track.
“Since November, we have been working more at night, to ensure we meet the demands of the government,” Yin said.
He disclosed that the Chinese firm already employed over 9,000 workers among whom are engineers, and artisans on the project.
The minister stopped the tour at Odeda, Section III, Ogun State, where he went into a closed door session with the technical committee that went far into the evening. http://thenationonlineng.net/history-lagos-ibadan-standard-gauge-rail-line-test-run/
