From the success stories of members in this forum who went through the NSE route, I feel the NSE route is better cos of the way application is being expedited, 20 days as far as you have the requirements (Mybank Statement Certificate of $30,000 CAD & IELTS with the minimum required band score)

You can read the contents in the links below for more details on that

NSE route
https://www.nairaland.com/5818588/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/705#97124448

Update on NSE route
https://www.nairaland.com/6321900/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/71#97773070

The Regular Channel is also ok, the only present downside of this Route is the Processing time for Nigerian Applicants ,35 weeks

So you know that, it's the same way you will apply for the Regular Channel you will apply for the NSE route, the only difference is the way NSE route requires you to do Proof of Funds i.e MybankStatement Ticket & the amount $30,000 CAD & the English test (IELTS) requirement.

Am sure you noticed that towards Late October 2020 till date, some members who applied via the Regular Channel got NSE request, so those who have the required additional documents sent it to expedite their application, some decided not to cos they don't have the required additional documents and opted for their application should be processed via the regular channel.

Thanks for this informations... I have two more questions please. How many months of bank statement is required for the regular route and for NSE, is it the sponsors account that is required (like in my case, my mother's) or the applicants account?

And are you required to make your account in specific way, asides having 30k cad in account.

If you are going via the NSE route to apply for Canada Study Visa, you need to submit a valid IELTS result.

If its via the Regular Channel, IELTS is not needed

If you have no TRAVEL HISTORY, you have nothing to worry about

For Admission purpose , the Letter of Confirmation of English Proficiency is enough

Thank you... Which is a more advisable route to use for application?

Resumption is in September, and i have just started building my account. I'm not certain on how long it takes to process the application via normal route. Should i just take the ielts exam, since i hear NSE is faster or use the normal route and build the sponsors account?

From previous threads i observed almost everyone was applying with Ielts... In my case, i have not written one, but the institutions I'm applying to only require proof from my undergraduate school that the language of instruction was in England. I have gotten a letter from the registrar of my undergraduate university with letter headed paper and all stating that i have full capacity and English proficiency.

Is this enough going on to apply for my student visa? Also, i have no travel history. Is it advisable to go on and take Ielts since i still have time till fall.

Note: schools I'm apppying to are fine with the letter from my registrar, I'm simply concerned if that would be enough for the visa application.

Hi,

Although the image is only apart of the decision letter, I can conclude a few things from the "excerpt" as follows;

The letter is writing by an admission committee or admission unit of the university.

This admission team/unit are charged with communicating admission decision to applicants.

In this particular instant, the decision is negative and they are letting you know it was based on recommendation of the department you applied to (hence, that is your prospective "academic unit"wink

I cannot see anything in this communication that suggests the decision was due to your referees (same as the people you used for recommendations)

Rather an admission decision is often the result of several factors taken together including your academic and/or research profiles and quality of other applicants in that cohort compared to you.

Although quality of your recommendations may be score you some good advantage, but I doubt it can really compensate for or weigh more than other (academic/research/work or community development experiences) factors.

It shall end in praises!

Seeking advice here... My application process for admission requires two reference letters... Got a great one from a lecturer... Is it advicable to use a senior work colleague (in the industry my masters program is about) for a second or seek out another lecturer. Ps: applying for course based masters.

how is the phone like, please rate, especially the camera and the battery life

I got it for my mum and had just about 45 mins of use with it, setting up and all. I had watched a number of online reviews and they were good.

My personal experience, well, it was actually really smooth. The build quality felt not too different from my note 9 pro ( in other words, it had a nice premium feel). The speed was satisfying. Came with the latest android... The screen was sharp. Though it didn't come with the type c charging port ( so, no fast charge when compared to the one i personally use ), but with a 5000mah battery(could last a day of heavy use with no sweat) , not much of a worry. No finger print scanner too, but a fast and accurate facial recognition system in place.

Finally, the camera... Its just one camera, but honestly, for the price, i think its perfect... Gets the job done...Its sharp.

Would say, go for it if you're not intending to game heavily on it (intensive games). I hope i covered the basics.

Hushbingo, i just came to tell you you're a stupid man. Someone betrayed you and you beat the person unconscious... Lol.

What seperates a man from the beasts in the forest is his ability to put his feelings aside and have mental fortitude when needed. You think this would be the first and the last time someone would betray you? Are you a baby?

Once again you're a stupid person. What if she died? You will just throw your life away.

Why even get so emotional to a point of hitting her. Something is lacking in you, just like in her, and you need to work on yourself.

And PS: Walk away.

Crime / Re: Are Crossbows Illegal In Nigeria by FrostyButter: 4:47pm On Jun 09, 2020
Yes, no mention at all of it... Apparently its not seen as a threat. I want to try ebay, since they have a refund policy. With security issues in Nigeria, this is something people should be able to walk into stores and aquire.

My issue with thr compound bow is draw... Even the crossbow i have in mind has a wheel to take care of the draw.

Thanks a lot for the tip, I appreciate.
Jakumo:

From reading the entire 26 pages of Nigeria's firearms law, there is no mention of crossbows or compound bows at all, meaning that you ought to be able to import either type of bow into Nigeria. The pistol grip of a crossbow would likely raise eyebrows on arrival at Nigerian customs, but a compound bow cannot be mistaken for any type of gun.

To further my stealth hunting tactics, I do own a compound bow that I dismantled and took to Nigeria in my suitcase, but the damn thing is too heavy to lug around all day hunting, so now it is gathering dust. No, it is not for sale. My online life shalt NEVER intersect with the real world.

For home defense, I can see the utility of a crossbow as a short range sniper weapon, especially if string silencers are added to quieten the shots down a bit. If visibility is good enough to take accurate shots, you can deploy a crossbow to dispatch threats out to ranges of 80 meters with surgical precision and in total silence, such that the invaders will have no idea what is dropping their colleagues in sequence like so many vermin.

You can even acquire a collapsible (folding ) crossbow that can be folded up to look like a piece of surveying equipment.

This is all the more reason why man pikin must pasture several live cows at all times, so as to grease the wheels of progress as needed by the police.

http://nigerianlawguru.com/legislations/STATUTES/FIREARMS%20ACT.pdf

Nigeria's official firearm statue of 1990, which is currently in force in 2020, can be downloaded for perusal at the link above.

Even a lawyer would need to read the convoluted prose of this statute several times, before the passage legalizing air rifles without the need for permits, can be identified. In the above PDF document, Page 13 contains the primary direct reference to air rifles, as Item 3 of Part II "Personal Weapons".

On Page 25 of this 26-page PDF document, item 51 spells out the exemption of air rifles from licencing requirements.

Here is the cut and paste of that paragraph 51 : 51. Without prejudice to the application of the Act to air rifles and air pistols, no air gun, being a
smooth bored weapon designed to discharge a pellet by means of compressed air or inert gas and having a barrel of more than nine inches in length, shall be subject to any of the provisions of the Act or of these Regulations.

In layman's terms, the above boldface sentence means that air RIFLES with barrels longer than NINE INCHES in length, do NOT require any permit by Nigerian law. All PISTOLS, including air pistols, remain banned in Nigeria.

I wouldn't build a crossbow locally.
But it makes a little sense as a last resort and should be easy enough to do if the right materials are used. Just be sure you use imported arrows for it for maximum accuracy and penetration.

I think the best thing is to import a small toy crossbow first. If custom asks you tell them na Halloween toy for your nephew.

More, crossbow is not air gun. Also, there are companies on Instagram based in Lagos that sell Katanas. I don't want to buy from them though cos I want to buy what I want, not what's available in their stock.

I don't know if such companies also sell crossbow. However, there's bound to be Nigerian firms that sell bows and arrows. I'm talking modern bows and arrows, including compound and recurve bows.

Search for such firms if you can. Or send a mail to customs asking if it's ok to import crossbows for hunting bush meat. If you get no answer import an inexpensive toy crossbow. If nothing happens then import the real thing and hope for the best.

Thanks, would try just that. Saw very amazing ones on amazon.
Crime / Re: Are Crossbows Illegal In Nigeria by FrostyButter: 11:01am On Jun 08, 2020
Nothing seems very straight in this country. I researched items the customs wouldn't let into the country and I saw airgun. I spoke with someone in the customs and I wasn't provided reasonable answers. Spoke with a lawyer, same thing. So I made up my mind to just use a blueprint, books, tutorials, and have someone build one for me, if I have to go that route.
GabrielYulaw:
OP I feel you. I have long wanted to get Katanas and crossbows from AliExpress, eBay or Amazon cos naija is just not safe.

I don't know if these are legal, but I don't really care since I will be using them in the house, rather than carrying them around. I just wish Naija is a place where you can easily get guns and gun license, cos security is very poor unless you live in highbrow areas. Only bad guys have guns and mostly unlicensed ones at that, and they use these to rob, rape and oppress.

Buy your crossbow. But if you are importing it be sure it won't be seized on arrival. When transporting it home, if police stop you just tell them you need it for a movie or want to hunt bushmeat with it.

If this is true, you don't know what you're dealing with.

You think your brother is repentant. Someone that raped a child and went to the couch and sat like nothing happened.

Your brother is a sociopath. Even if you drive him away, he would rape someone else or worse, kill the person to cover his tracks.

You two are acting like this cause the girl had no one. You're covering a crime. You are worse than your brother if you let him get away with this.

What kind of woman allows something like this go just like that? Where is decency? Asides, you're endangering another innocent child.

Do the right thing. Let him serve time.
