The figures you put up there are wrong OP. The richest among them is just about 7 billion in worth even he didn't become rich just from medicine... Entrepreneurship and his pharmaceutical company he sold. Entrepreneurship is still the way if money is your passion. For those that want to be professionals, don't get carried away with these figures. |

Just look at how people opened alternate accounts just to make this silly campaign on nairaland ... Someone that made the country the poverty capital of the world. What other level of failure do you need. Years from now you guys will be looking back, and I hope the bag of rice and the 10k APC shared to you guys will be enough to wipe away the tears. Someone will say I'm pained... Yes, I am. |

The extra judiciary killings are terrible... I watched the documentary by New York times. And now, I can easily believe when biafrans were saying they killed many of their peaceful protesters. God bless those people(new York times) for good journalism. To think that we have media houses that refused to cover this. It took white people to do so and not burry it. That alone shows how evil the nation is. How would you use high caliber weapons to shoot unharmed people. And the useless military would say they were armed with sticks...what sort of evil lie is that. I saw young girls get shot at. Even when they ran away, they were still being shot at. What the hell! Reading GEJs book (my transition hour), where he explains how this bokoharam thing escalated when they were just a small organization and their leader was killed in police detention just made me wonder... These Shites they are killing, those that lost their complete families and have nothing to live for...if you tell them come and join boko haram, wouldn't they? The military has always been the problem in this country. Ever damn military "ruler", even the ones that come back under the guise of democracy. Screw all of them. Screw burhari too. This is not a military govt. Behaving like animals. Modified: for the ignorant nairalander saying those people carried stick... Go and watch the video... No one carried any stick... They started throwing some stones after the military shot a couple of them on the chest. A man amongst them peacefully approached a soldier to talk to him and he shot him in the chest. Those that thew stones where running and defending them selves ... Why would you guys support murder... Gruisome murder 29 Likes 1 Share |

Even those of us that went to private schools are planning for our children to go to Havard and have a better life... Smh... Your reasons are even sad and pathetic at the same time... So many poor Nigerian women are trapped in marriages to men like you. Married to stubborn men that make stupid decisions at the detriment of their families future. That said, I really hope she breaks up with you. And I hope you marry your kind with your kind of mentality...but then again... I'm in romance section. 2 Likes |

jizbaba: Honestly, you can't... You can still make a sound 2:1 if you are serious. I feel with such a low GPA, you are missing something... Ask your self honestly, it is a course you're passionate about and want to follow through with. Cause if you're doing this to get job alone... The market out there is tough o, for you not to be passionate, and worse peddling a bad grade. If after long and deep thoughts. It's your life and youre not running race with anyone, I advice you start again and repeat the level, get your shii together, if changing school would help and youre sure, good. Cause let me tell you something, I have a friend, she was doing just as poorly as you are right now. She eventually changed school and department to something she was passionate about and fi ished first class accounting. It might be the course you're studying, and it might just be you slacking... Get your shii together. |

Normally... CU actually prepares like crazy for anything... You have no idea... Very serious school... Every competition they participate in, worse case they win second... From Enactus, to CODET, just name it. A school where almost all the graduating sets in departments like accounting already have ICAN, 19 year old teenagers o. As for the ones above changing conversation, better go and work and make money to send your kids there. Stay there and be shouting like cheap education is your birth right, ku ku go and protest at Havard gate that you want cheap education... Illiterates. 22 Likes 1 Share |

And guess what, even the rich these days suffer from all these harassment. Didn't senetors get harassed the other day? Now way to be safe in my country. Now way to keep your family away from harm. And CU has come to distrup the system positively, and its nice that you acknowledge that. Tithe is not a scam by the way, but if we drag that one and I start quoting Bible we would just derail this thread. Nice conversation. |

paxonel: So sad that the international community would applaud this and the black man wouldn't. Do you know the engineering principles that went into that? I can't even begin to deal. People are moving forward, you're talking about coal iron. It's a massive contribution to science and his name is well recognized and marked in the sand of time in engineering. Be that as it may, it's good to know you share some positive views about the future of Nigerian education. About pastors using poor people's money bla Bla Bla, that's something we hammered on over and over. 1) it would be very ignorant to say the universities are built with poor peoples money. So members of living faith are poor and it's their 10 naira offering that built the church? How would poor people give what they don't have? Is there sense in that? Or did you see where anyone was forced to give offering? Infact, living faith is the first church I would visit that collect just one offering, you tithe and everything as one. And after offering time that's It.no one begs you to bring your money. 2) there are so many very very very wealthy people in winners 3) those that cannot afford the fees of CU, and are members are open to a lot of scholarship opportunities. 4) even those that are not member, as a student you are open to the David Oyedepo foundation scholarship. I know over 50 people personally that benefitted from it. 5) would you rather have the rich people travel abroad to avoid the public school system or put the money back into the economy and industrialized areas like Ogun state that have benefitted greatly from having Covenant University close by 6) CU has been highly subsidized cause it is managed by a genius. Compare to any private university in Nigeria or abroad. Many are even packing up. 7) finally, let me tell you what inspired CU initially. A student with drug problems from the US where he was schooling was brought to cananland for prayer and rehab. The bishop was very sad that about the lack of discipline in universities, the perversion as well as waste of huge amounts to send a child abroad when we can do it here. The bishop is already a teacher, and teaches in a Bible school as well as as an architect in his spare time. If it were you, wouldn't you go for that? It's sad the way we Nigerians antagonize people trying to make a difference. Also, most of the things you see the man enjoying are gifts. When you have wisdom and you solve problems, one way or another, the consequence is wealth. Shalom. 3 Likes |

paxonel: Lol, calm down and put your thoughts together. All I see here is hate and lack of logic. But I would address some poorly thought out points you raised. You spoke about the stadium and how sporting facilities affect a the intellectual development of the students and Nigeria. Every sane individual knows that one has to balance the physical body with the mental to be a total person. I don't see why you're stressing this. All the top universities in the world are regarded not just for intellect but sporting facilities. These colleges end up producing some of the best athletes in the world. Little wonder why countries like the USA perform well at the Olympics. Also not that ivy leauge schools are called that, cause of the ivy leauge sporting event that takes place amongst those private universities in America. This is the standard CU is modeling. Why are you refusing it? Hate? How does it affect Nigeria? Are you not sad that we have no good stadium to host sporting activities in Nigeria other than the one in Uyo. This opportunity from that structural edifice is endless. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/ccap/2016/08/09/sports-and-university-academic-reputation/amp/ That's just a source to back information I have provided to you. Cause unlike you, some people don't rely on beer palour gists. You spoke about the webometic ranking and how sad you are about it. Yet you are sad about the significant achievement of the university to reach such heights. Are you not contradicting your self. Now about the webometic ranking, CU had done exceedingly great when you look at how far they have come and how old they are. In conclusion, you based your whole baseless argument on the stadium which in my view is a plus and shooting your self in the leg. But it would interest you to know that like Havard alumni and other great institutions around the world, CU has produced great achievers, the likes of : Ayokunle Adeniran, a US-based Nigerian mechanical engineer, invented an iron that works without electricity, Odunayo Eweniyi, Co-founder/COO at Piggyback, CEO of softcom Yomi Adedeji, even entertainment, the likes of simi. Even here on nairaland, the likes of darkid1 that was 2018 CODET (An engineering competition for all best projects and best graduating students in engineering, all universities in a Nigeria offering engineering are represented) winner and awarded by COREN. This is a university that is just 15 years old. They are doing just fine and deserve the spot, by merit and achievement. 6 Likes 3 Shares |

PrecisionFx: So sad. Clearly you have never left the shores of this country. And work on your spellings. Not that I'm trying to 'disgract" you in public. You are one of those people that would rush and go and do post graduate program abroad (that's if you can) and end up picking a shitty school, hoping to get employed abroad only to find out the school you did your post graduate program is not recognized even over there. There are so many universities in America (I'm talking from experience), and most of them are not good. You can find a storey building and it's one university of arts. It's so easy to start a university in the US, that's why many of them are shitty and why rankings like these are made to point people in the right direction. But sadly, the black man must show his inferiority complex. If you like do research and find out, (you don't need to travel to the US, the internet can help you find out), and if you like, sit in your room and refuse to add knowledge. That's your problem. I wouldn't argue with you. 7 Likes 1 Share |

PrecisionFx: You cant just make this kind of statement with so much confidence and not have facts to back up. OP stated his source, Times higher. Have you tried to validate this? Did you just say this out of emotion? Do you really feel Nigeria is so terrible and lack the intellectual capacity to achieve such feat? Are you in the academic profession? How knowledgeable are you about things involving this? When last did you fact check your 'knowledge' to be up to date? Do you know OP to be a poster of false news before? These and many more questions are questions you should ask your self. 6 Likes 1 Share |
