IngeniousLeez: I thought Shazam 2 vs Avatar 2 was smart programming. It's Avatar vs Aquaman 2 that was the scary comparison.
Shazam plays to a different audience and is a counter programming for Avatar. It's also a family and Christmas movie in the first place. So it'd easily hold its ground. No it won't. Both are PG 13. Both are made for the same demographic. Moving Shazam 2 forward was a smart move by WB cuz it would lose the revenue battle if it squares up against Avatar 2. IngeniousLeez: You peeps are also forgetting this same Shazam had already gone toe to toe with Endgame and Captain Marvel in the box office in 2019. Its box office was kneecapped but it still made 4x it's budget. Especially being a relatively unknown superhero with no previous cameo whatsoever.
That Xmas date would have bettered its chances at the BO imo. Using the term toe to toe is only valid if Shazam had put up a fight, but it didn't. Endgame completely obliterated it. WB obviously still has some lingering PTSD, and don't fancy a repeat. |

Baddestguyp: About to rewatch Knight and Day...someone here recommended it... Can't remember anything about it so I'm rewatching
No Mercy was recommended by someone here. A Korean movie... But there seem to be 2 different movies by that title... A 2010 own and a 2019 own
Can the person clarify, I can't find the post. Which one? No Mercy (2010) is a SICK sick movie. It's even more fvcked up than I saw The Devil. |

pu7pl3: why do people on Nairaland always pick a hill and decide to die on it despite glaring facts and evidences of how wrong their hill of choice is
Even on Twitter people always find a middle ground or concede to a new school of thought after evidences have been brought forward on how wrong you were previously.
Na wa o So are you for Japan or Korea? Your post is too cryptic. |

abduleez1: While you may be right in some ways, I don't think Japan Cultural influence is gone. It seems to have waned a bit in terms of live action but it's still solid and well respected.
True, we're in Korean's pop culture reign. But more of it has to do with Korean content gaining more audience and spreading globally. And it is yet to reach its peak unlike other regions below that had reached their peak popularity.
It's an interesting topic/argument you brought tho. Makes me reminisce on the days when South American (Mexican) soaps held sway. Indian too at some point as well as Chinese/Hong Kong movie industry. Bollywood seem to adapt and keep a sizeable audience with Zee World content. Each region has its time of dominion but lack of adaptation to current zeitgeist may affect an industry. You're learned. I respect your contribution. |

Stop quoting me if you have nothing meaningful to contribute. Bro, don't waste your time on these weeaboos. You might as well be flogging a dead horse. Korea pop culture has been silently influencing the world for close to 20 years but no, they'd rather bury their heads in the sand and pretend it's a recent occurrence. |

NaijaMemes: Why? You must be a gen z to make this blasphemous post.
Hollywood churns out more movies than Korea. Secondly, there is a reason why Hollywood is the most popular movie producer in the world.
The matrix, predestination, Avatar, Inception and Avengers alone should tell you that Hollywood no get mate I'll forgive this thoughtless squib due to your ignorance. Watch the titles in the screenshots, after which I'll take you seriously. Also, go learn the meaning of pound for pound. |

NaijaMemes: That is a blasphemous statement.
Some of the best horror movies are japanese.
The best animated movies are japanese.
Japanese film industry has a deeper history than Korean.
You are hereby banned from watching movies for 2 days.
Go and sin no more. Japan pop culture renaissance has come and gone. Before that, it was Hong Kong. This things seem to come and go in waves. Right now, we're in Korea pop culture renaissance. Started in the early 2000s and has grown from strength to strength. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_waveJapan still reigns in anime though. |

Baddestguyp: I understand why you feel that way... I also felt that way when I watched tons of Korean movies...
But then I remembered that the ones you find are mostly their top movies ... Korea also has thousands of wack movies that you will probably never hear about or find or find subtitles
So in terms of who makes better movies, I'll say that they're about equal Korea has meh films too but even their meh films like Bloody Reunion tend to be more entertaining than their Hollywood counterparts because these films have unique ways to keep the audience hooked. They tell a compelling story no matter what. Not knowing where the story is going or where it will end up, or not afraid to hold back, is really refreshing. I always use MyDramaList to pick korean films to watch and so far so good, every korea movie rated average to high has been a banger. |

DontBullshitMe: I don't disagree, Infact whenever a Targaryen woman copulate outside the Targaryen-Velaryon family duo, their gene does not always survive.
But casting Aemma to look 100% a Targaryen is the error. They should have either kept up with it or not do it at all. Immediately I saw it in the first episode, I was shocked. Terrible idea. In hereditary, hair coloration is a toss up. If a black haired guy copulates with a fair haired maiden, their offspring will either be dark haired or fair haired depending on the dominant gene, or red haired if one or both parents have recessive red haired gene that runs in their respective families. |

Ishilove: Pete is the asshole, hence the title of the movie. His friends are also assholes, though, but he is the bigger asshole. I think it's all a prank. When Pete's girlfriend said the problem with him is that he can't take a joke, that singular statement explained quite a few things. In a way, it's a plot twist. They pulled a practical joke on him, but it went on too long and even got out of hand. |

Ishilove: All My Friends Hate Me-
Most people will find it slow, but it is perfectly relatable. Twenty friends cannot play together for twenty years. People will change, and often times not for the better. What I love most about the movie is there is a dark presence hanging around the whole atmosphere that you can sense, but can't actually see. We are watching events unfold entirely from the main character's perspective, which is very relatable because every individual first of all sees life through their own perspective before anybody else's.
The movie will keep you on the edge of your seat. Brilliant movie So who's the asshole? Could be Pete but the last line in the film got me thinking that maybe it's all an elaborate scheme cooked up to make him think he's being paranoid. |

ShaqFu: This has slasher horror written all over it. Judging from what we've seen from slasher horror movies, that is from Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, Mike Meyers etc, I'll hold my breath and hope it's not a waste of data. It's nothing like that. It's more arthouse-sey. If you like nudity, old people sex, and hanging dongs, you'll enjoy it. |

abduleez1: B- is a good score for horror movies, B- for an A24 horror is some premium fvvking good rating.
The way people have been hyping up this movie as well as Mia Goth's performance as Oscar Best Actress worthy. Hmm, something's cooking... Nigga Puleeeeze. Mia Goth won't get an Oscar sniff talk more of winning. B- is mediocre for Horror. The first film is nothing to write home about and it rates higher in Cinemascore and RT. |

IbrahimMav: I assume you're playing the devil's advocate, so i'll bite.
The jetfighters, the countries, and top gun school are real, yes. However, being based on real life doesn't in any way undermine a fictitious element. Fiction by definition is something possible but not true. Where as fantasy = fiction, fiction ≠ fantasy. Many fictions are based on real life but their plots are fictitious, and this is where it matters.
Can you draw historical parallels to the plot lines of the Top Gun movies? If you can, I'll humbly submit an apology for my grave error, But if you can't, then I see no reason why you would even attempt this question. I concur. For example, Ted Lasso has real life elements like the character is inspired by a real person, but the story itself is a work of fiction. |

Thor: Love & Thunder.
Taika Waititi had to have been on hard drugs when he wrote and directed this piece of fvcking garbage. How else could he have thought it was a good idea to turn a bunch of kids into mini-Thors, or to have Thor fanboy Zeus? And who the fvck approved this nonsense and thought it was worthy of release, ffs?
Taika Waititi used to be a man I admired for his ability to successfully blend tragedy and humor, until I learned that he left his wife, who also served as his co-writer on many projects, for an English bimbo. This expose didn't sit well with me, but I was like, "Okay, I'll try to separate the art from the artist," but 10 minutes in, I could tell it was going to suck just like the man who wrote it. I realized at that point that I couldn't separate that shiteel from his work if my life depended on it. In the space of a few days, that fvcker has become my most despised director/writer in Hollywood.
Fvck Taika Waititi. May he never be asked to direct another high-profile project. Scum. I hope he claws back to his native New Zealand in shame. Hopefully, the shitstain will fade into obscurity and be forced to make low-budget porn movies to make ends meet. |
