He floods the market with the goods. He delays your production. He is able to produce one hundred containers to flood the market monthly at cheaper rates. He gives you higher rates for the few containers that you buy. He employs more workers in his factory. He visits Nigeria, bringing along with him one or two sales persons and they remain here. The Nigerians lose grounds, shops close and they are out of business because of the unfair practices of Asians. That’s the issue.

The Chinese manufacturer has no economic reason to inflate his price to the middleman distributor, it's because of the greed of the distributor increasing prices and making their product less competitive that has caused them to establish their own retail outlets in Nigeria to cut out the middleman.

The manufacturer wants his product to be price competitive and if a middleman is taking unfair advantage the manufacturer would do something about it.

And to add to your argument, those high prices also slow inventory movements.

The Chinese want their goods sold as fast as they can be made and shipped to stores.

Those greedy businessmen having 100-300% profit margins are slowing down trade.

We are talking about unfair trade practices that affect all Nigerian importers, who sell Chinese/Asian manufactured goods in various retail markets across the country. It has to do with Chinese manufacturers, who make importers purchase at high rates in Chinese factories to sell in Nigeria, while the same Chinese manufacturers, seeing that their products move in the market, seize the opportunity to bring in their own staff and flooding the markets with the same goods at far lower prices, therefore putting Nigerians out of jobs. Oga, Nigerians take the risk a lot of times, importing unknown products into the market to advertise. Manufacturers notice the rapidity of sales and plan how to bypass those who made the effort.

Many years ago Asians used to have well spelt out trade agreements with Nigerian importers. They put an end to that. Now the same products are found in the market, manufactured by the same factories, but with other brand names, taking advantage of OEM as the manufacturers.

Oga, the Chinese retailers that you see in the streets are direct representatives of factories in their home country. They are not looking for jobs. Go to trade fair, Alaba and Lagos Island markets to see for yasef. The same happens in the SE and NW.

So oga, no one is talking about immigration or your imaginary edict. We are talking of protection for Nigerians. We are talking out of personal experiences and not what APC wants us to pretend to say, as they tell you people.

Nigerian traders cannot be competing with foreign traders who have the advantages of economies of scale and a more favourable support from their home government. Any competitor should put their money where their mouth is by building their own refinery in the country and crashing down prices.

Before now, it was the Indians in the garment and plastic industries.
