Impressive. Earlier today the news was about a the first US flight instructor from Kano, now its an aircraft innovator. Kano state is taking aviation personal these days. Kudos to our worthy ambassadors. |
Most of us are happy to try a spot of DIY but there aren't many who would take on the challenge of building their own aircraft. These unusual looking planes are the creations of amateur engineers in Africa who have made their own jets - often just using scrap metal, a book guide and a lot of improvisation. Despite their lack of material, training and money, these determined aviation-enthusiasts have managed to build their own machines. But there are a few success stories - 24-year-old physics student Nigerian Mubarak Muhammed Abdullahi being one of them. He spent nearly a year building a 12-metre (39ft) long helicopter out of spare parts sourced from old cars, motorcycles, and even a crashed Boeing 747. He used money he saved from repairing cell phones and computers. His bright yellow contraption with a salvaged Honda Civic engine could actually reach heights of seven ft. His invention helped secure him a scholarship to study aircraft maintenance in the UK. https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/06/25/article-2348222-1A80294A000005DC-446_634x468.jpg Handmade: Mubarak Abdullahi, 24, stands next to the helicopter he constructed in Kano, Nigeria. https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/06/25/article-2348222-1A80290C000005DC-78_634x422.jpg Creative: Mubarak Muhammad Abdullahi, a 24-year-old physics undergraduate in northern Nigeria, used old cars and motorbikes to build his own helicopter in his back garden https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/06/25/article-2348222-1A80292F000005DC-870_634x423.jpg Starting out: Aminu Abubakar can be seen welding the skeleton of a his helicopter out of scrap metal. https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/06/25/article-2348222-1A80295E000005DC-25_634x423.jpg The homemade plane, which Abdullahi completed in 2007, earned him a scholarship to study aircraft maintenance in the UK. https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/06/25/article-2348222-1A802996000005DC-131_634x423.jpg Innovation: It may look like a car, but Abdullahi, pictured sitting in the front seat, used old car parts to make his own helicopter. amusadele:Fear and diplomacy are two distinctive concepts. |
thekingsmen:That's kindergarten trash. President Muhammadu Buhari directed the National Security Adviser to convene an investigative committee on the procurement of hardware and munitions in the Armed Forces from 2007 till now. Until it is convened an inaugurated, nobody is under probe yet so the statements are valid. Keep in mind the 2007-2015 scope includes the late President Yar'adua. In case you have not noticed however, Jonathan cannot escape a comprehensive and extensive probe under Buhari for reasons the President has made clear severally. We are waiting to see what you claimed would happen when he does. |
WailingWailer00:A self-acclaimed wailer talking about spewing trash. Maintain your lane. |
thekingsmen:PMB has instructed the probe panel to investigate arms purchases from 2007. We are waiting to see what will happen. |
thekingsmen: calebo101:These were the wailers antics just a few hours ago. Now they are whining after a probe panel has been set up. Don't worry. |
thekingsmen:Is this a response to my post , if you have an article stating what the OP claims to have been stated, then you can open a thread with such an article. Mind you for it to be relevant and qualify as news, then it has to be recent. |
Closecall:Yes we are very happy in fact, but don't be a coward about it by lying about who said what. |

thekingsmen:Show me where the "North" stated it was happy about the power-shift? That assertion was the conclusion of the OP, and not the statement of any northerner. Of course, it was also convenient for you and the divisive OP to ignore this part: Closecall:The Northern elders were exposing the lack of sincerity of the GEJ government regarding the failed national conference which he never implemented, highlighting that it was a veil for their 2015 agenda and the North will have nothing of the sort. The basis, content, and intention of this thread is baseless, completely false and in contravention of RULE 8 of this forum. |
thekingsmen:The title is completely false and misleading, which betrays the ulterior motive of the OP. Call a spade a spade, stop trying to glorify and embellish falsehood. |
Closecall is a divisive, deceitful and trouble seeking element for bringing news from two years ago, and then giving it a misleading title. This thread is in contravention of Rule 8, posting FALSE information on NL. The article was written on October 26th 2013 and had no such title. Cc:Seun, lalasticlala, Ishilove. |
Kudos to Kwankwaso for fostering the development of skilled manpower for the aviation industry. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/UFUnKCWG6CI/hqdefault.jpg www.nairaland.com/attachments/1393010_1_out_of_100_pilots_sponsored_by_kwankwaso___oduah_take_note_jpg5e70e6d6295d848056182bfd65e24594 www.nairaland.com/attachments/2144589_thumbnail_jpeg5181aefe480172bcf9fdd60e07a679f6 https://www.ncat.gov.ng/manager/modules/photo_manager/uploads/large/Tms43pCoBf.jpg cc: lalasticlala |
It is commendable that Kano State is leading the maintenance of this contribution to the Nations economy by sponsoring its students to aviation schools worldwide, and has started reaping early fruits like the first Northern female pilot celebrated recently. From the Nigerian College for Aviation Technology Zaria, the premier and most recognized Aviation college in West Africa, to its numerous airlines from Hold Trade, Albarka, Chanchangi etc to the current Kabo Air, IRS and Med-view airlines. Its refreshing that Arewa continues to consolidate its historical hold on the aviation sector. Kudos to Mubarak, another shining ambassador of our great nation. Let us hope his mates from huangcheng's neck of the woods that are notorious for being hanged like chickens for drug trafficking thereby disgracing the country, can learn a thing or two about hardwork from this young fellow. |
freeradical:For the purpose of clarity, NLNG is owned by four shareholders, namely, the Federal Government of Nigeria, represented in the shareholders' structure by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC (49%), Shell Gas BV, SGBV, (25.6%), Total LNG Nigeria Limited (15%), and Eni International (N.A,) N. V. S. a. r. l (10.4%). http://www.nlng.com/Media-Center/Lists/Press%20Releases/DispForm.aspx?ID=3&ContentTypeId=0x010400C761BBE83D1A3048BEBDA73F6147B805 Obasanjo clearly erred by ringfencing the dividends, although those State Governors should stop being lazy and generate their own revenue. |
einsteino:I took out the part relevant to me and commented on it, which was Oshiomoles assertion that GEJ's phantom Niger bridge was a monumental scam, which I elaborated upon. I focused on the message and not the messenger, besides I am neither involved nor concerned with Edo politics. |
einsteino:Pipe down, the scam is in the failed promise and the PPP agreement which enslaves the SE for 25 years through tolls on the bridge due to Jonathan's paltry contribution to the project leaving the rest of the funds to be provided by foreign investors, while he fully funded projects elsewhere. Jonathan did not deem his stronghold worthy of a FG-provided bridge and instead sold you all a dummy. |
chukwudi44:Ironically, your master has been running from pillar to post seeking PMB's favor ever since his adopted 49 PDP Senators pledged allegiance to the President, whose position is Tinubu/the party's position and we don't need a 'mgbati' newspaper to decipher that.

Impressive, yet some wailers kicked against his merit based appointment because he comes from the North. How many more competent men have we sacrificed on the altar of ethnicity? President Buhari should not yield to the myopic desires of advocates of the status quo. Change. Delivered. Cc: lalasticlala |
moshino:You don't have to insult me to make your point where it exists. I maintain it was a SCAM by Jonathan on the SE. Is it not true that according to the terms of this fraudulent business, the project is a Design, Finance, Build, Operate and Transfer (DFBOT) model to cost N117 Billion naira with the Federal Government contributing a paltry N30 billion naira while the consortium will raise the rest of the funds and thereafter hold the Igbo people to ransom by collecting a 25 year toll tax for raising the rest of the funds offshore? |
Finally a competent and model leader for Sakkwatawa. Change delivered.. adonbilivit:Thats a track suit Mr. Its akin to the protective wear street cleaners wear in other climes. |
