I have over 10 Years experience as an IT Support Manager in an Aviation Company in Nigeria.
I have a Masters in IT Management with a Distinction from the University of Sunderland
A B.Sc. in Computer Science
I am a Member of the British Computer Society
I am a Scrum Master.
I have a computing award I received while in Uni and I can also still get recommendation letters from the Aviation sector based on my work in the industry.
Am I qualified to apply for the EB2 VISA? What are my chances of succeeding?

Yes you do qualify , its quiet expensive if you use a lawyer , I used a lawyer and premium processing and got approved in 4 days , I am in IT also and I dont have a phd .

However you need realistic excpectations from applying to getting a green card can be over 2-3 years with current back log and priority date.

Lawyer fees are now like 6500 usd average which is expensive , premium processing is over 2800 now also.

check the lawyer I used talk about my case.
https://www.akinalaw.com/blog/78/two-eb-2-niw-approved-with-two-separate-eads-approved

..I think there are cheaper options than lawyers now ..especially if you live in NIgeria and the dollar rate is not smiling 7k usd is over 8m naira.

Well, if you’re asking for my honest opinion, I’ll say “No, it wasn’t”😄.

But then again, from a medical perspective, anxiety and anxiety-related disorders could manifest in different grades for certain individuals. If an individual knows that the anxiety that comes from a long wait is detrimental to their health…..and the additional cost is not a problem. Premium processing could be an answer, cos peace of mind is worth every penny.

Also, I’ve heard someone say they’ll rather go for premium processing so that should there be a denial of the petition, they can quickly submit another application and secure a new priority date on time.🤷🏽‍♀️

Oh wooow not seen a process like the USA lol...PR in canada is less complex...but the premium is not so cheap 2500 usd and if they deny someone the person wants to quikcly re - apply to pay another premium? na wa.

Yes, you’re right!, long long wait time🙃. The next thing for you is patience, brace up cos you’ll need A LOT of it seeing that your priority date is only January 14, 2024.

Congrats on your approval!, the next stage is NVC processing and then your case will be sent to the American embassy in Canada, they’ll be reaching out to you in due time.

Thanks someone finally gets my question...so aside from the anxiety of knowing if your petition would be approved...with the current priority date was it worth is paying premium processiong and getting the approval in few days?

Hi everyone, I’ll be coming to Winnipeg in May. Was going to pick Alberta but I hear there are no jobs.. I am a pharmacist and working on getting licensed and all that.
My issue is right now from my research I can’t really find jobs in Manitoba compared to Alberta (using job bank -)

Is there anyone currently in Alberta or Manitoba? Please tell me what the job prospects are for pharmacists after everything necessary is completed. Please respond..anyone.

Alberta is way better , once you pass all your exams even better prospects..am not a pharmacist but know people on that route you need to pass the exams , mcq, osces and co

Don’t have to come to Canada . Never found it attractive. Lived in DC area for four years and made trips to Buffalo a few times but never found a reason to cross over . Americans see Canada the way Nigerians see Niger. Canadians are not as open minded as Americans (met a few of them) and can only imagine what they are like at home . If it was such an attractive place why is the Express entry program only attractive to citizens of third world countries ? Haven’t heard of Europeans and americans take advantage of it in large numbers.

Why would Europeans and Americans want to get PR in Canada when their passport means they can visit easily , or even get some special work permit if its work they want? And same for Canadians...and if you don't find Canada attractive its all good, Its all about opportunities thou, Canada is super immigration friendly , have seen someone move to Canada in less than 7 years become citizen and running or like a post equivalent to house of rep in a province.

While UK , USA, Germany are a bit ahead.. from a naira lands view or naija view Canada still has the best best opportunity for migrants...USA UK are full and are super competitive ..I don't even know what programs or visa one can use to live in Germany.

So at the end its all about opportunities and status its way better to be in Canada legitimately than to be in the usa or uk on the wrong visa status..almost wept for africans/black when i visited new york....

Nigeria is not the only country that is high risk with US visas.

Other countries like India and China are also facing the US visas very high scrutiny at the same rate as Nigeria.

True, you are right ... thats why I summarized it saying it is at their discretion, lots of countries have visa free to usa

even thou its nof fair ..some people want to genuinely visit or study....

of me i didnt even apply to usa until i was sure i would get it ..and when i went i was 99.9 percent sure i would get it. and i did.

I promised myself I will share my experience no matter what. This morning 7.30am lots of people were denied. I could only see a man in his 70's that got the visa. They were just dishing out pink papers anyhow.

Vo: Good morning, your passport pls
Me: Good morning, I gave him

VO: so why are you going to New York
Me: I'm going for the Youth Assembly Conference and after that some sight seeing.

VO: Looking at his system( have you travelled with your old passport)
Me: Yes

VO: Let me have it
Me: I gave him ( I have also been to Dubai with my new passport but he didn't open it, my old passport Indonesia and Dubai also)

VO: Mr ...., I'm sorry but your application does not qualify you for a US visa at this time
Me: Thank you, collects my pink paper.

No question about the conference or organizers or my job or income and I was loaded chaii

I will travel more and strengthen ties, also get married if I find love. Mehn I only wanted to go for the Youth Assembly Conference and come back. Having my banking job , but like you people said, looks like USembassy hates bankers now especially when you ain't in managerial level. Chaii it's well

Well they have a quota system and to be honest Nigeria is a high risk , the number of application from Nigeria sef..it is well

Going to USA is not a right..you apply and they use their discretion...

doesnt mean it is fair thou...but it is what it is...

Please i need you advice,My wife got PPR last month ,we are a family with 3 children but my main worry now is what to do in canada, My wife is a medical doctor but am a private business man but am also a graduate , l have never worked with my bsc engeering certificate and i have little or no working experience on that line .....i do not like the idea of staying back in nigeria while my family goes to canada and l will be visiting sometime,am 37years and l believe in family staying together ..i have decided to go with them and settle down in canada for the sake of my children,i will hand over my business to my brother and my tenant send the annual rent to my accout but what can l do in canada,i know l cannot run my business in or from canada..i just have to face reality on ground and start looking for job but what type of job can l seek as a new arrival with no specific job skill in canada and graduatelly progress ..please l need advice from people on ground on what l can do.

Hi Denaven, you have asked a very nice questions, I can understand the anxiety.

Depends on your capital also, but my advice is you try and network with people on ground..but most importantly google..Nothing like a do it yourself attitude. You also need to be careful of people. But then am sure Canada has lot of Opportunities for Entreprenuers also. Even with import and export . You might want to google Export Development Canada.

Summary do lots of research, talk to people , and try it out when you land..am sure lots of people will be happy to help you.

All the best.

My brotha/sista, I don talk am before. People even laughed at me earlier in the thread, saying I too dey talk about Alberta a lot. The province is unbelievable. Most people who land in the GTA like you said just want to see tall buildings, go chop suya/star with their friends on the weekend, then go to a owambe. Even these IT or other jobs they talk about, by the time to pay for transport, insane housing prices, etc how much does one have left living in the Toronto area ? How much ? My good friend, his sister, along with my cousin moved out of the rat race called the Toronto area as I pressured them to do so. Within 2 years they're all doing good and purchased new homes. Something they could never do in Toronto. Because you need a million dollars or more to get something decent in the GTA.

I have many more of these stories. But a lot of Nigerians are becoming wise as the Nigerian population/community has grown a lot over the years in Alberta. People are starting to come here first. The province leads the country in highest wages and immigrants are striving there. Even though the oil sector is struggling a bit, there are so many other decent jobs one can get. Lastly, taxes are much lower there, no PST.

https://www.thestar.com/edmonton/2018/06/12/alberta-the-cool-new-spot-for-immigrants.html

Have always been a London, Toronto kind of person ..but its all about Opportunities...my first job was in Ottawa..then got a better one in Edmonton ..since then I love western Canada to be more precise Alberta...but then to each his/her own
