TravelRe: Migrate To Canada Or Stay With 400 K Monthly Salary In Nigeria by Fusion23: 4:04pm On May 07, 2017
Babaelemu:
The only reason to leave a job of 400K per month should only be IF YOUR LIFE IS IN DANGER IN NIGERIA. At the age of 35 you are still willing to migrate and live your life for uncertainty. As a BLACK man and again a FOREIGNER in developed country (built by whites) If you like have PHD, PPD, BSC or whatever you call it you are still gonna have it very tough and you are still gonna prove yourself x3 for any position against the citizen and permanent resident.

At 35 with that income you should be thinking how to establish, create employment and give your family the best in life. Abroad drains energy physically and mentally from certification, to paper, to learning the culture (it takes years to adapt)

Abroad is not designed as a place to get everything easily it a place to live a simple and easy life and this takes lot of years working.
hmmm you have a good point, but please do you live abroad ? the way you talk like you are so sure its not just black and white,
I think the most important thing is planning its sad for a bank manager in Nigeria to come abroad and work as a customer care that is downgrading,

But if you making 400K monthly in Nigeria and you are good , you might make like 3m naira here per month before tax,

so my advise is on the most important point you made , certainty or uncertainty so the person can plan very well and do a research on his chances, but what is certain is also quality of life for his children thou abroad is not roses at all.

We keep deceiving ourselves in Nigeria, I know quite a few people in this guys shoes that will end up spending over 10K dollars to give birth to a child in the USA just cause of the uncertainty of Nigeria. And am just shell shocked.

I dont even regret making the move thou am much younger and a lot of people i met older than this guy worked in bank for 7 years say the same

@supedoll You are good to go by evaluating just your MBA which has higher points than "2 or more certificates". Don't bother yourself with the BSc. Please read the first few pages of this thread diligently for more insights. Cheers!

@Fusion23, I sight you! wink

How is it going? cheesy
Thanks boss , its good where u at

No she's not an agent. She's an acquaintance I met online and has relations in the passport office. To my own knowledge she's just genuinely offering to help me get a job. So she said she might need to get my approval to access my personal data to get this done.ous, the o

And No, I have not paid her anything serious, I only made a contract with her as escrow just $30 to look for a job for me in Canada.
I still dont get how this affects your PR status,
first dont put her even if she has access to your login.

two have you gotten ITA ,or you waiting for the Job to get ITA , or you just want to open express entry profile, dont put her for now

I need someone's advice, I have someone that agreed to be my representative on my Express Entry form under "Use a Representative" . Please how did you guys do yours? She's a Canadian Citizen, works in their Federal Ministry of Defense as a Secretary. Please I need help oo, should I say "Yes or No" since she also said she'll be on a look out for a job for me.(I've sent her my CV and Cover letter sha)
Is she registered ? I think CIC has list of registered agents.
Also the Job thing is that what will get you points?
if you truly qualify on points, you do not need any agent o o o
big waste of money , hope you have not paid ?

if your scores are too low like 390 and the agent is promising you jobs then thats another story

Depends on what you are into...

If you are into travel, BMO has a nice air miles package on their credit card

If you are into movies, Scotiabank is bae for free movies.

If you are into customer service, TD bank is it.

You can also chill till TD bank does their annual Samsung Tab free gift for new customers.

I would recommend visiting the site redflagdeal.com/forums to learn about rent, the best banks, tips/tricks/scams, companies to avoid working for, taxes, your rights as an employee, your rights as a tenant or homeowner, mortgage taxes, daycare etc.
No mention of RBC ,

True mehn, I just had to reply to your comment because the thread was dying like you said and some people were arguing over unnecessary stuffs and derailing the thread so it was perfect timing.

Btw, who doesn't like free things? lol, no time to form mehn. All my friends know me that I like good deals and awesome sales. I don't care what people think. Nothing wrong with free stuff if the quality is good. I don't joke with buy one, get one free on black Fridays and Boxing day cool cool cool
And nothing is free lool , we pay taxes

Like maternal said, all the big 5 banks are pretty much the same. Personally though, I use RBC and CIBC, I have been with RBC for almost 8 years now and I use their credit card too. They offer the low rate credit card with 11% purchase interest and 11% on cash advance plus they gave me a very juicy credit limit. CIBC too has been very generous with me plus I got all these when I was an international student. But I believe the most important thing is having a good credit score and paying bills on time.
Almost 8 years, thats long anyway my initial post was not really about wanting free things lool, I work, but good infromation cos i saw the thread was dying, i also found out like IOM gives reduces flight via Lufthansa if you were coming on PR.

You can rent places already furnished until you've saved enough funds to be able to buy furniture. Personally I've never heard of the government providing furniture, you're pushing it. lol
Lol I never thought of it too, It wasnt my idea , heard from someone .

Sure, I wouldn't do free mattress either. There are a lot of liquidation/warehouse stores for brand new mattress with great deals that you could check out especially if you stay in the Greater Toronto Area.
Ottawa , have had my hopes for IKEA thou....but am sure there are some nice services Immigration Provides like free french or something..just saying their are lot of positives to talk about

You can go on www.kijiji.ca under free stuffs/furniture/garage sales, you might be able to get some stuffs for free or very good deals especially if you check frequently. But watch out for beg bugs. All that glitters is not gold smiley

I do not know about the government giving out free furniture. I know they gave stuffs to the refugees from Syria last year but not quite sure about Skilled Immigrants. But might be true.
Yeah definitely not doing free tins if they are used.
Especially mattress..but will find out.

"2 days"? Wow! shocked

Please, don't mind my asking the question in a different way: what was the duration (in days) between the time that you did the medical tests and

(1) date that you submitted your application?

(2) the actual date that your profile changed to "medicals passed" on e-APR?

I have been made to understand that each application is unique but I am trying to understand your timeline. Kindly indulge me wink
Lol i know dat feeling just calm down cant remember . but when u submit and pay ..i got Acknowledgement of receipt, two day later medicals changed to passed..i think i did the medicals 3 weeks before submitting cos i waited for the money to be 6 months in my account so no need for letter of explainination

I have a GT account were my salary is paid and its my basic spending account but not were the funds i want to use is domiciled. Do i still need to get the reference letter and bank statement from GTB or should i ignore?
Hmm no need for gtb ..a bank with 6 months statements with the desired funds is perfectly ok

Bimpsy99:
Hi Vcole and Fusion23

Please how did you eventually resolve GTB and CIC format for POF. Thanks
If its savings account they dont give reference , ask for the letter they give to pension on savings and instead put the cic address they charge for that. Six months banks statements too, GTB is a silly bank that letter with 6 months banks statement is better than 6 months bank statement alone..
cic has a way of verifying

What will be your salary ? What are you willing to spend on rent ? Where is the job located in the city?
700-900 monthly is the ok one bedroom or bachelors....location is around Nepean or Antares Drive
so any where on merivale road or baseline will be fine.

what about transport?
TravelRe: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by Fusion23:

Please can you clarify the bolded?
no reference letter for savings account , however there is a letter they give for pension purposes for savings, it will have ur picture in it possibly.
its state the day the account was opened ..no balance.

this and you 6 months statement on savings will work very fine ...its better than 6 months statement alone. Then also attach the canadian dollar equivalent using oanada or xe..
they know how to verify statements anyway

Hello everyone..gtb has refused to indicate balance on the account on the letter ..the only thing they did was to indicate when the account was opened and type.please who else had the same problem and how was it fixed..we decided to collect the statement of account but it is just too much as most transaction happens on account.are we suppose to upload the statement for six months ignoring the fact that it is many.the account that has the bulk of the money has just small statement as it is for savings and we got a letter from the bank indicating the balance for the last six months..gtb is just a supporting account to balance the pof.please help..
Gtb is a silly bank for savings account , they dont give referemce ..i used the letter they give pension people to apply and it worked ..in canada now
