After going through your post, there was a place they asked you if you're pregnant and you answered ''no'' and later you're talking about preparing to give birth in U.S even providing financial details... maybe it was a typo please reread your post. thanks.

I think her post is clear enough.

She is not pregnant at this time but if she does get pregnant, within the validity of her visa, she will be happy to birth in the US.

Haba!

A lot of people (including me) have patiently answered your questions on this thread... yet you're still looking for someone that will literally hold your hand, walk you through and even go for the interview with you.

Later someone will say it is lack of information that makes people fall victim to agents.

Nooooooooo,I earn 79k which I wrote there and a 1.5m bank balance, how ll I convince the VO to check my statement.

Oh ok... you were giving us your story in bits. So this is a summary of your query- correct me if I'm wrong

Your uncle in the US is celebrating his wedding anniversary. He invited you and three other relatives for the the anniversary and gave each of you letters. Now you applied independently of each other and have different interview dates.

You work as a senior accountant in the civil service and earn 79k monthly. However, you've been able to save 1.5m.

Basically you have 2 questions
1. Does it matter that he invited three other people... will it affect you in any way?
2. How do you convince the VO that you can afford the trip?

If I'm right... here's what I think

No one can tell you your chances of getting a visa.

Every individual is interviewed on their own merit. That's why a father and son will be interviewed and the father gets a visa but the son does not.

The most important thing is to show the VO that you have very strong ties in Nigeria. It could be your job, family etc.

All the best

Am a civil servant,a senior accountant with the state govt, savings of 1.5m

I honestly don't know if 1.5m is enough to sponsor a trip to the US for four adults! It may not even cover the cost of tickets.

I have an explanation and clarification please....goes thus, the uncle gave us four (4) letters carrying out names differently but we filled in the form that we are not travelling with anyone(that we are travelling alone),and picked different dates of interview are we still on point even though we have letters from the same invitee and for the same occasion. Pls I want to know if there is no issue and if there is any issue, how do we rectify it now

Letters are hardly checked!

What is also curious is that the first few times this narrative was posted by Onyiify, it was about her brother, who somehow morphed into her husband. A husband priest who skipped from one wife to another in a matter of weeks. In our experience, a person who lies about small details is also likely to lie about more serious things. These people are not ideal visa applicants.

It gets worse. In her other posts she said this same big brother is married with a child and expecting a second one.

My big brother is married with a child and his wife is expecting a second child. He resides in the church compound and he is a priest in an Anglican church.

there are lots of folks who contact agent to help them in visa application, their intention may not be to lie or misrepresent, just due to lack of information.

Honestly, I don't think anyone in this generation should give this excuse... If we can spend time on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Nairaland etc we should also be able to Google "how to apply for a US visa in Nigeria".

Lack of information is NOT the problem. I think the problem with our generation is LAZINESS. We want others to think, read, pass exams, do everything for us!

Hello Ladeonas...

I understand you want information urgently and all but you can just ask once or do a quick search and then directly contact the people who have the information you seek.

For instance, the information on LA that you seek is on this thread. Very detailed information sef. I gave birth in L.A. and put up my experience. All you have to do is click on my moniker and go through my posts.

Thank you!

Check zoemummy's post on page 343. She gave a detailed checklist. It's better to have more than less so add as many as you can...

It will also be helpful to group the documents and label them so you are organised and can bring out documents without faffing around.

We need to know the status of his visa too before we go for collection. We have to travel, we are far away from Abuja or Lagos. Is there any way we can do this?

Yes there is!
Go to https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/
Click on "Check my visa application status
Enter his details (DS 160 number)

It will show "issued" if your husband's visa has been issued.

You can also track his passport on http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-passportretrieve.asp

My people come and help me o, this visa thing is becoming somehow o. I was trying to book follow up apointment but the first available date (April 11)has passed my EDD. What option do I have?

How do one book for emergency apointment pls? I saw requirements like letter from US doctor, letter from Nigeria doctor, then proof that I can pay. has anyone used this route pls?

I never expected this.

Eh... if you got a 221g "refusal" (i.e. applied via Dropbox and asked to schedule interview) you may not be able to expedite your appointment.

The date I got for interview was two days to my travel date (I was going for a meeting). I tried to expedite it.. called, emailed and chatted with their customer care agent and was told that you can't expedite a 221g appointment.

There is no harm in trying though.

Good afternoon house, Please I need clarification on this.
I dropped our(myself&hubby) passports on tuesday for dropbox application

Are you the primary applicant? i.e. is it your details on the ustraveldocs or appointment portal?

I was the primary applicant and I got the same mail and it was "dear applicant" but both our passports were returned. My DH didn't get that mail. You will get another message from ustraveldocs when your passport is ready for pick up. That's when you will know if your husband was given the visa or not.

Let's know how it goes

Please what were you asked

What was their concern

I posted my post dropbox interview transcript on the birthing thread.

On why my passport was held for two weeks, I haven't the foggiest idea! I am sha glad it is all sorted!

This post made me smile yesterday... see as I don become reference point!

I finally got my passport back after almost two weeks. It was not funny waiting... not knowing what went wrong. I really was at my wits end because I had missed a meeting in the US and was on the brink of missing another in a different country.

It really is true what they say... Apply for visas as early as possible because anything can happen!

I did not envisage that I will be asked to schedule an interview after dropbox submission... or that the interview dates will be so far at this time of the year.

Lesson Learnt sha!

LegitBachelor:
It's in Lagos.

Does it take longer time in Lagos? My trip to a schenghen area will be this weekend and I need the passport for the trip.

I'm getting worried especially when the case of Fyorgyn comes to mind.

Hello Fyorgyn. We always advise applicants to apply for or renew their visas well in advance of their planned travel dates. You may e-mail to ConsularAbuja@state.gov or LagosNIV@state.gov depending on where you sent your passport.

Thank you for replying AbujaNIV.

I had my interview in Abuja and I have already sent an email to consularAbuja but got an automated reply.

I take responsibility for not applying on time... I really should have applied earlier. I missed my US meeting this year because of this.... but it's been almost 2weeks now and I really need my passport back to travel to another country this week.

Please please please how can you assist me.

Dear AbujaNIV and LagosNIV.

I know you do not comment on individual cases... However please I really do need my passport as I have an official trip on Thursday.

I have checked DHL but my passport is not there. I also called the Embassy's contact centre but was told to wait for a mail and no guarantee I'd get my passport back before Thursday.

I have tracked my application on the ceac website and it shows "issued" on November 3.

I am at my wits end because this could negatively impact my job.

Dear AbujaNIV and LagosNIV

Thank you again for patiently answering our many questions.

My visa was approved over a week ago but I am yet to get my passport back.

Sadly, I missed the meeting in the US. I am getting worried because I need my passport to travel to another country next week.

My application status on ceac says "issued". I have called and emailed the contact centre.

I am at my wits end and not sure what to do

Hello Fyorgyn -

We do our best to accomodate travelers who have imminent travel plans, and sometimes we are able to print visas faster than 3 days. There are some parts of the process which are out of the control of the individual Embassies and Consulates, so sometimes we are not able to speed the process much. Let the consular officer who interviews you know that you would like to have it printed that day if possible, and we will generally do our best to do so.

Thank you LagosNIV

The visa was approved and I explained to the consular officer... who was very helpful and explained that there are some parts beyond the control of the embassy.

Thanks again.

Some states have special, tax-funded healthcare programs for non-insured residents of the state. If you are a tourist in the US, you are necessarily not a resident of any US state. Hospitals and birth certificate authorities may take you on your honor if you declare local residency, but doing so may impact your credibility in the future as an applicant for a non-immigrant visa.

There are, unfortunately, some unscrupulous healthcare operators that may quote unusually low fees for medical care, only to send the balance of the bill to Medicaid.

Consular officers have ample experience looking at medical statements and receipts, and we have our own experiences with the US medical system to draw upon. So we know approximately what a range of procedures cost. Prospective applicants for medical tourism should do ample research and be suspicious of quotes that are unusually low.

The bolded, I think, is the reason why VOs are NOT smiling.

Apparently some inadvertently use the government funds we set out to avoid. Sadly, I don't think there is anyway we can find out which hospitals do this.

It's a "win-win" for the hospitals but bad market for the government and the VOs are government officials!

They may have already blacklisted some of the popular hospitals we use which might explain the high rate of rejection for both renewal and birthing visas.
