seyewest: I think her post is clear enough. She is not pregnant at this time but if she does get pregnant, within the validity of her visa, she will be happy to birth in the US. Shikena 8 Likes |

Yeanca: Madam... Haba! A lot of people (including me) have patiently answered your questions on this thread... yet you're still looking for someone that will literally hold your hand, walk you through and even go for the interview with you. Yeanca: Oh ok... you were giving us your story in bits. So this is a summary of your query- correct me if I'm wrong Your uncle in the US is celebrating his wedding anniversary. He invited you and three other relatives for the the anniversary and gave each of you letters. Now you applied independently of each other and have different interview dates. You work as a senior accountant in the civil service and earn 79k monthly. However, you've been able to save 1.5m. Basically you have 2 questions 1. Does it matter that he invited three other people... will it affect you in any way? 2. How do you convince the VO that you can afford the trip? If I'm right... here's what I think No one can tell you your chances of getting a visa. Every individual is interviewed on their own merit. That's why a father and son will be interviewed and the father gets a visa but the son does not. The most important thing is to show the VO that you have very strong ties in Nigeria. It could be your job, family etc. All the best |

Yeanca: I honestly don't know if 1.5m is enough to sponsor a trip to the US for four adults! It may not even cover the cost of tickets. |

domcreative: Honestly, I don't think anyone in this generation should give this excuse... If we can spend time on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Nairaland etc we should also be able to Google "how to apply for a US visa in Nigeria". Lack of information is NOT the problem. I think the problem with our generation is LAZINESS. We want others to think, read, pass exams, do everything for us! 6 Likes |

Omodadi2: Check zoemummy's post on page 343. She gave a detailed checklist. It's better to have more than less so add as many as you can... It will also be helpful to group the documents and label them so you are organised and can bring out documents without faffing around. 5 Likes |

babiechic: When I submitted my passport for renewal it spent about 14days before I was sent a mail to schedule interview. I went for the interview, got my visa approved and it took another 14days to get my passport back again! |

Omodadi2: Eh... if you got a 221g "refusal" (i.e. applied via Dropbox and asked to schedule interview) you may not be able to expedite your appointment. The date I got for interview was two days to my travel date (I was going for a meeting). I tried to expedite it.. called, emailed and chatted with their customer care agent and was told that you can't expedite a 221g appointment. There is no harm in trying though. |

Omodadi2: Are you the primary applicant? i.e. is it your details on the ustraveldocs or appointment portal? I was the primary applicant and I got the same mail and it was "dear applicant" but both our passports were returned. My DH didn't get that mail. You will get another message from ustraveldocs when your passport is ready for pick up. That's when you will know if your husband was given the visa or not. Let's know how it goes |

This post made me smile yesterday... see as I don become reference point! I finally got my passport back after almost two weeks. It was not funny waiting... not knowing what went wrong. I really was at my wits end because I had missed a meeting in the US and was on the brink of missing another in a different country. It really is true what they say... Apply for visas as early as possible because anything can happen! I did not envisage that I will be asked to schedule an interview after dropbox submission... or that the interview dates will be so far at this time of the year. Lesson Learnt sha! abujaniv: Thank you for replying AbujaNIV. I had my interview in Abuja and I have already sent an email to consularAbuja but got an automated reply. I take responsibility for not applying on time... I really should have applied earlier. I missed my US meeting this year because of this.... but it's been almost 2weeks now and I really need my passport back to travel to another country this week. Please please please how can you assist me. |

Dear AbujaNIV and LagosNIV. I know you do not comment on individual cases... However please I really do need my passport as I have an official trip on Thursday. I have checked DHL but my passport is not there. I also called the Embassy's contact centre but was told to wait for a mail and no guarantee I'd get my passport back before Thursday. I have tracked my application on the ceac website and it shows "issued" on November 3. I am at my wits end because this could negatively impact my job. |

Dear AbujaNIV and LagosNIV Thank you again for patiently answering our many questions. My visa was approved over a week ago but I am yet to get my passport back. Sadly, I missed the meeting in the US. I am getting worried because I need my passport to travel to another country next week. My application status on ceac says "issued". I have called and emailed the contact centre. I am at my wits end and not sure what to do LagosNIV: |

Thank you LagosNIV The visa was approved and I explained to the consular officer... who was very helpful and explained that there are some parts beyond the control of the embassy. Thanks again. Fyorgyn LagosNIV: |

abujaniv: The bolded, I think, is the reason why VOs are NOT smiling. Apparently some inadvertently use the government funds we set out to avoid. Sadly, I don't think there is anyway we can find out which hospitals do this. It's a "win-win" for the hospitals but bad market for the government and the VOs are government officials! They may have already blacklisted some of the popular hospitals we use which might explain the high rate of rejection for both renewal and birthing visas. 2 Likes |
