mcstan18: Much as I agree that Nigeria is hard and getting the pof is not easy for most people, I would argue that claiming 100% of the pension funds borders on dishonesty! The CIC clearly states that it is expected that the funds are readily available to you (and for good reason) and the truth is you really only have access to 25% of the funds. It is not a matter of "oversabi" it is a matter of speaking the truth. 3 Likes |

4hardey: I don't think it's a problem. However, it also depends on the POE and the CBP officer you meet. Just go with your "burden of proof" and make sure you have enough money (in cash or in cards) for the "business". All the best |

Oh dear! Filling this Post ITA form eh get as e be. I am having a headache filling my very extensive travel history...Looking through all the stamps on my passport and figuring out dates is draining. I do have 2 questions though A few years ago, I traveled to Spain for a week but my passport was stamped (entry and exit) in Zurich (Switzerland)- I only stopped over at Zurich airport enroute BCN. Now, in filling my travel history, I have, of course, stated that I was in Spain during that period but do I have to attach a Letter explaining the Zurich stamp? For those who gave birth in the US, what did you put as "purpose of travel" for the period? I put "Medical Tourism" but it sounds funny because birthing is just one of the many medical procedures one could have gone for. Did you explicitly state "Child Birth" in your purpose of travel? |

Livy2018: Hi, I successfully removed a credential from WES. I used the contact form stating that I wanted to remove a credential and I got the reply below. I followed the instructions and sent it again. The credential was removed 8 days later and a notification was sent to that effect. I got my evaluation report 19 days after that. I hope this helps.

Psychostar: I am relatively new on this thread but I've done a bit of background reading so I will attempt to answer your questions. The first thing you need to do is estimate your points using the CRS tool using each of you as primary applicant. There are things you need to consider. 1. Age. If either of you is between 20-29yrs you get a whooping 100 points. From 30 to 40 the points reduce by 5 every year. So the younger person will have an advantage. 2. Educational Qualifications If you are the primary applicant, you get 112 points for your bachelors and your wife will contribute 10 points for her MBA (122 points in total for educational qualifications) If your wife is the primary applicant, she gets 126 points for her MBA and you will contribute 8 points for your bachelors (134 points in total - an extra 12 points) 3. IELTS The primary applicant can contribute up to 128 points if they ace the IELTS. The spouse contributes a maximum of 20 points. So if you score better in IELTS than your wife you may contribute more points eventually. 4. Work Experience With your 8 years experience you can contribute 50 points if you ace your IELTS. If your wife is the primary applicant, with only NYSC (I am assuming she has served) she will contribute only 25 points and this is if she aces IELTS. So you do need to consider all these factors to determine who will be the primary applicant. For POF, you can use a gift deed. Go to page 0 to see more on that. However, I think that this requirement is for our own good. Moving is something that should be properly planned and it is essential to have enough cash when moving to a new country. As for moving with family, a lot of people have done "short landing". It means going with your family, getting your documentation and then returning back to Nigeria. To renew your PR card you only need to have lived in Canada for a total of 2years. This means you may still have 3years to move finally. All the best 16 Likes 2 Shares |

Hello people! I don use style become Canada EE evangelist...lol. A friend of mine has a degree in Pharmacy and an MPH. She does have about 6 years experience working as a pharmacist BUT in the last 3 years she has been working with international organisations using her public health degree. She doesn't want the stress and extra cost of PEBC and wants to only evaluate her (ivy league) MPH with WES. She also does not intend to practice Pharmacy in Canada (at least for now) Can she claim points for her Pharmacy experience? Getting reference letter for the work experience is not a problem. Can she "claim" to be a pharmacist without evaluating her pharmacy degree? Thank you. |

Taike: Thanks Taike. My study strategy for every exam I write is to understand the purpose of the exam and how it is assessed. For IELTS, interestingly, I only used British Council resources. 1. I took the British Council's free "Understanding IELTS" course on FutureLearn (https://www.futurelearn.com/courses/understanding-ielts). It helped me understand the exam format. 2. The Official IELTS preparation book from British Council. I used this to familiarise myself with the questions and marking scheme for Reading and Writing. 3. I downloaded the IELTS prep app provided by British Council to have a feel of the Listening Test. Basically, instead of practicing many questions, I focused on understanding the exam and how it will marked. My husband only used 2 and 3 to study. He got LRSW 7.5/8.5/8/6.5 20 Likes 13 Shares |

This is a fantastic thread! I decided to join #TeamCanadaHopefuls and have been spending all my spare time going through the thread(s). Special thanks to the people who started this. Glitteringstar... you are really a star! Thanks for all the links and summaries. They have been so helpful. So far, IELTS has been dusted! Got my result last Friday and it was LRSW 9/9/8.5/8. ECA is in progress. I am trying to gather documents so I'm ready when I get ITA. 1. PCC I will need for Nigeria and UK. For those in Abuja how did you go about it? (Seems like a large number of the folks here are based in Lagos). I saw the online process and it seems straightforward in theory...not sure if it is, in reality. 2. Reference letter (Employer) For those who work in very big corporations with plenty bureaucracy how did you surmount this? Can I get a letter from HR in my subsidiary or does it have to come from the Headquarters? I read that it can be addressed "To whom it may concern" rather than specifically to "CIC" 3. Proof of Funds About 70% of my POF is in my UK account. The bank won't send a reference letter and I can't travel to apply for one. I did see where someone's naija bank didn't give a reference letter but the person was able to explain this. 4. Passport My international passport will expire in October but I am already in the process of getting a new one to be on the safe side. This one that we are not sure of passport booklet availability. I will definitely keep the house informed as I go along. To be honest, the reason I never took this serious was because I wasn't sure I wanted to leave the certainty I have in Nigeria to the uncertainty of starting a new life abroad. I do have a great career here and I am still wondering how I am leaving all that. I am very aware that life in Canada (like every where else) is not a bed of roses and one really needs to think critically about the future and all. Getting to Canada is one thing, thriving there is another. I wish all of us here the best in this quest for a "better" life. 34 Likes 3 Shares |

Yels: Hello, Welcome to the 221g club I got one when I applied via Dropbox and i put up my interview here in November 2017 We've also had a couple of people who have towed the 221g path. The success rate is 50:50 and there is no clear cut reason why folks are denied and others get. Zoemummy dropped a very detailed checklist for us. You can check through her profile. Ugoguchy was refused the first time (in abuja) but reapplied and got it at the third try (in Lagos) I guess three was a charm for her Please let's know your story when you go for the follow up interview. |

Lajoie33: Hian This one that you are back... Wehcome ma! To your question... My sister! This is a capital intensive waka so apart from unku T and all, one does need time to plan the journey in its totality. Just to add my opinion here...I don't think unku T is selective in his hating... he probably doesn't even have Nigeria in his mind sef. His narrative (Which made him attractive to the crowd that love him) is "America First" which means all others do not matter and should "stay in their lanes" Having said that, people are still getting visas for childbirth... I won't put pressure on myself by having another baby when I am not ready just because I want to have an Americana 6 Likes |

Dy2005: If you want to travel July ending you should apply asap. The reason for this is that you MAY be called for interview and getting a date can be a headache! My visa was to expire in November and I applied late September/early October. My passport was returned after like 15 days with a 221g request. This was already mid October. The closest date for interview was November 2nd and I had to be in the US by November 4 for a conference. I got the visa but missed my conference because the US embassy kept my passport for another 15days!!!!!! So please apply to renew your visa early especially if you need to travel. |
