Engineered bamboo is a low cost product manufactured from bamboo . It is designed to be a replacement for wood or engineered wood. Engineered bamboo comes in several different forms, including bamboo scrimber and laminated bamboo, which has three times the structural capacity as normal timber and is defined and regulated by the ASTM International Standards. Engineered bamboo has been used as paneling, vehicle beds, concrete formworks, lightweight building construction and even for shelters after the 2004 tsunami. In comparison to the woods that have been traditionally used, a number of benefits and drawbacks have been identified. Lower cost, especially when replacing wood that would otherwise have been imported, is a key advantage. Further benefits include greater hardness and shape retention, especially in high temperatures. Interest in bamboo for construction continues to grow as focus shifts towards reducing the environmental impact and embodied energy of the built environment. Bamboo in its natural form is a cylindrical pole, or culm, and is part of the grass family. The production of bamboo products in utilises the whole culm, with different sections used for various manufacturing processes. The use of the entire culm is highly efficient, but within the individual manufacturing processes, the material use efficiency decreases, although waste material is often used for energy. Of particular interest is the use of bamboo culms for boards, which can be easily compressed or laminated to form larger sections. The process of manufacturing bamboo boards in China began in the 1970s and has increased in production through industrialisation of the manufacturing process. China leads in production and export of bamboo-based products; export is mainly to Western countries and Japan. The Chinese processes for manufacturing two bamboo-based products, bamboo scrimber and laminated bamboo, are shown in Figure 3. Bamboo scrimber, also known as strand-woven or parallel strand bamboo, is manufactured from crushed sections of the bamboo culm, which are coated in a resin, compressed and then heated to cure the resin. The term scrimber originates from a timber-based product that was developed in Australia to utilise small-diameter material that maintained the longitudinal direction of the fibres. In contrast, laminated bamboo is manufactured with strips of bamboo that are processed to form rectangular sections, which are then laminated to form a board. Comparison of the material input and output in the production of a product can be described as the production efficiency. In timber, van der Lugt (2008) estimates the efficiency of sawn timber as approximately 30–40% of the original volume of logs, with the remaining material accounted for in losses due to processing. For bamboo, the production efficiency varies by manufacturer and is approximately 80% for bamboo scrimber and 30% for laminated bamboo (van der Lugt, 2008). Also an orthotropic material, bamboo has varying strength and stiffness in the longitudinal, radial and tangential directions. Bamboo’s strength is found in the longitudinal direction through fibres within a lignin matrix, which makes it strong in tension and compression. Key Benefits 100% rapidly renewable bamboo material. Green lumber material for building projects. Manufactured using energy saving cold press process. It is stronger and more durable than most other hardwood and only takes 5 years for bamboo to grow to maturity as oppose to other types of hardwood that requires 40 to 50 years to grow. Can be milled and work like hardwood. Raw bamboo is prevalent in the south south region of Nigeria and with the international export market for Engineered Bamboo reaching $12 Billion in 2014 alone this is an opportunity to invest and partake in the agricultural revolution of the federal federal government. If you are interested we at Gee-Vee Ventures for a token of 25,000 naira will provide you with a comprehensive business plan to enable you successfully setup an engineered bamboo production plant. other services we can provide for a mutually agreed fee are - - Site Location Advisory - Help in accessing bank of Industry financing - NDDC support for farmers who will provide the raw bamboo stalks to the plant. - Local regulatory support at both state and local government level The above services are only available if you decide to site the plant in a specific part of Delta State where the major raw material (bamboo) is abundant. The war in corruption has started. 4th December 2015 Justice Bilkisu Bello Aliyu of the Federal High Court, Yola, Adamawa state on Friday handed 10 years imprisonment to sentenced former Commissioner of Local Government Affairs John Elias for defrauding Adamawa State government of the sum of N51.5 million while in office. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Elias along side two others who were discharged as well as a company owned by Elias on four count charges of fraud. Justice Aliyu said the judgement will serve as a deterrent to public office holders who may want to divert public funds. For personal benefit. "I hereby sentenced the first convict, John Babani Elias to 10 years imprisonment on count 3 and another 10 years imprisonment on count 4 but the two sentences will run concurrently," Justice Bilkisu Aliyu ruled. "In addition, the first convict must return/refund the sum of N51.5 million to Adamawa state local Government joint account fund from where it was stolen and diverted by him and his company," she said. The judge also ordered the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to wind up Al-Akim Investment Limited and have its assets forfeited to the federal government of Nigeria. Hope this clarifies and puts to rest the need for army aviation. An army aviation unit is an aviation-related unit of a nation's army, often described as an air corps. These units are generally separate from a nation's dedicated air force, and usually comprise helicopters and light support fixed-wing aircraft.this The tasks of each army's aviation units are defined slightly different, depending on nationality. Some general characteristics, however, apply to all army aviation units regardless of provenience: Logistic and battlefield support Tactical transport both internally and externally, of personnel and material Assault duties and anti-tank warfare Search and rescue Medical evacuation Reconnaissance and fire support in a combined arms team Surveillance Liaison Flying training Disaster relief In order to fulfill their manifold tasks, army aviation mostly uses helicopters. These helicopters can be classified into the following categories: Attack helicopters for close air support of ground troops and anti-tank role Transport helicopters Observation helicopters Utility helicopters CSAR, Casualty Evacuation (CASEVAC)/MEDEVAC helicopters Training helicopters In addition to helicopters, many armies also operate fixed-wing aircraft. They include the following categories: Reconnaissance Surveillance Transport Airborne command post List of countries with dedicated army aviation unit 1st Army Aviation Brigade (Greece) (Hellenic Army) Argentine Army Aviation (Argentine Army) Army Air Corps (United Kingdom) (British Army) Army Aviation Corps (India) (Indian Army) Australian Army Aviation (Australian Army) Brazilian Army Aviation Command (Brazilian Army) Colombian National Army Aviation (Colombian Army) French Army Light Aviation (French Army) German Army Aviation Corps (German Army) Indonesian Army Aviation (Indonesian Army) Iranian Army Aviation (Iranian Army) Italian Army Aviation (Italian Army) Malaysian Army Aviation (Malaysian Army) Nepalese Army Air Service (Nepal Army) Pakistan Army Aviation Corps (Pakistan Army) People's Liberation Army Ground Force Aviation (People's Liberation Army Ground Force) Polish Army Aviation (Polish Land Forces) Portuguese Army Light Aviation Unit (Portuguese Army) Republic of China Army Aviation and Special Forces Command (Republic of China Army) Republic of Korea Army Aviation (Republic of Korea Army) Royal Thai Army Aviation (Royal Thai Army) Spanish Army Airmobile Force (Spanish Army) Turkish Army#Turkish Land Force Aviation (Turkish Army) United States Army So Google and wikipedia helps rather than argue blindly and trying to be a doctor on an army aviation thread Last shot, Nigeria will need to have deep strike capability and that is where the air force needs to be upgraded. It already has rotary platforms for other utility uses. NAF needs Su-30 and the JF-17 thunder like yesterday. I am out jump in the lagoon if I in anyway hurt your feelings. It's a small price to the lives of our guys we lost in combat. |
