Please solar gurus in the house, will solar energy be ok to power 4 fuel pumps? The area where the filling station is located don't have constant electricity and the generator here uses about 10 liters of diesel daily.... Will installing solar energy be better or will it be more expensive?

You have a very big roof, enough to accommodate dozens of solar panels. Solar installation makes a lot of sense and should pay for itself in 5 months or less. I would suggest you have a talk with @Cooldipo or Alejobs.

No, you can't pay a kid for his or her services. That is child labour. Errand, on the other hand, is part of our upbringing in Nigeria.

I'm practically a Pepsi addict and drink at least a carton of the stuff each week. Sometimes I buy more than one carton at once and best believe me, if I need help carrying it home, I will tip any kid that helps me. And where I buy the Pepsi is not up to 150 meters away. It's a tip not payment.

Same way if you travel and come back with luggage and neighborhood kids help you carry the stuff in, you buy biscuits and fanta for them.

To be fair to the OP, she has really tried. Allowing that many kids to walk into her home whenever they please is something. Personally, I can't deal. I'll develop instant mental breakdown and trauma. 5-6 children ke?

Another strange thing is why the woman allows her children to visit someone she doesn't want her kids to run errands for. That's not very common in Nigeria. If someone lets their children visit you and eat freely in your house, you can bet they feel safe around you and treat you like family.

So yes, the op has a strong point for feeling "used." There is no free lunch anywhere, whether we all agree or not. Even if a younger relative (family) comes visiting, you'll need to get used to doing some work in the house, or you visit with your personal chef and maids.

But then...... Would I send another man/woman's child on an errand, especially someone I haven't met in a long while? I don't think so. It's not because there's anything wrong with that or with feeding them in my opinion, but personally, I don't want to take responsibility for any problems. I don't want anyone connecting any dots when your kid develops stomach ache.

As some posters have mentioned, some Nigerians (especially the poor) have a strange mentality. Some NGO folks were accused of trying to steal the destiny of school children recently. Their offence? They distribute free sanitary pads to school children (as seen on Twitter).

They are not being sent on errand to mold cement or go up NEPA pole and reconnect light. They are being sent 2 minutes away from home to buy food ingredients that they themselves will eat. So I don't get why so many here are freaking out about that.

This is likely the case.

She doesn't like you like that, but just wants you around for the things she'll benefit.

She gives off a bitter, contentious vibes.

I don't know about others, but it is always very much a thing of "pride" to my parents to have us helping our neighbours run errand. Yes, some people definitely overdo it but that's not what I am defending here.

It is the communal intention behind it that I am referring to...others would also gladly, willingly allow their kids run errand for my parents. Like, we're more of our neighbours' children than our parents' and the idea is about helping each other out and sharing. Like you said, you cook for them too, and give them money. I don't think you're doing that from a bad place.

And the talk of something happening to the children on the way is just funny. Really? Like really? Over a long distance, I get. But kids that play in the streets all the time and go to buy sweets and biscuits for themselves, something bad will suddenly happen to them when you send them on errand. Like everybody goes outside to buy things with the thought of something bad happening to them.

Shey they were living fine before you moved in next door?
And you always get your things by yourself when kids weren't around you?

Great. Just keep your distance and everybody will be fine.

Also, let me add this, you see that person you fought that she went to beg, I'm 99% certain that they've badmouthed you.

There's a Yoruba expression for it, but it's not coming to me, and it is a very terrible attitude.

Two people will fight, with one person being the instigator o, and somebody will go and be begging that person. I really really h8 it.

Even if there was no clear instigator sef, she's your "supposed" friend. Her loyalty should be to you first and trying to pacify you both together neutrally at the scene of fight. But going to meet the person the next day again? Eish.

I guess this is why some people always say to be wary of old friends you reconnected with. They're hardly the same person you knew.

Couldn't have put it better. Thumbs up!

Can you just end most discussions and visits to her family

You can get into trouble assisting her

Besides don't pity her for having six children and living in that condition

She will still bear more kids and live a life of pity

As in, she can start saying the lady is helping her so to steal her destiny and those of her kids. Seen and heard that kind of nonsense too much.

Good. Face your business make she face hers.

Edit 1: By the way, this is not the first time I am hearing a case like this. Poor people, especially in Nigeria can be extremely arrogant, short sighted and stupid, even at great cost to their well being. I can never understand it.

One of them is currently trending because she went back to her abusive ex, with the ex only coming back when told the woman was getting monthly allowances. The said allowances was coming from a therapist who was helping the woman and her child get back on her feet. So, the therapist stopped giving money monthly when informed that the abusive ex and the aforesaid poor lady were back together, with the poor lady now saying the therapist was just being jealous and intent on breaking her marriage to a jobless and very much unrepentant ex.

Most times when you help poop people, you get nothing but abuses. They will go behind your back to mock and insult you and then form innocent when confronted. I have never understood what they gain from biting the hand that feeds them.

I don't have any more answers to suit your narrative. You will find more luck in digging the desert for water than you would in getting any more response from me.

That woman is not your friend. If I were you, I would be wary of her. If you must help, do so from afar and make sure her kids no longer come to your house for any reason.

Although I'm not in support of brutality on both sides and believe in a Two state solution for Israel and Palestine, with an acceptable solution on Jerusalem.

However what even makes you think Jews have no claim to the land? There is something known as indigenous people. People whose origin is traced to a particular land. Jews originated from Israel and have consistently occupied that land more than any other group of people. The Jews were forced out by the Roman empire and the land of Judea was renamed to Palestina. This is all documented history.

I googled what you asked me to but I don't see any relationship it has with what i'm saying. I don't even see any relationship with Hezbollah.

You know I have not even debated you on the matter you are raising. I'm only correcting the mistakes you are making due to some lacking knowledge on the Middle east. Mixing Syrian army up with Hamas, Hezbollah and other groups. Then mixing up Palestine with Hamas among a host of other things. Even when the PNA government existed before Hamas, is in opposition with Hamas and has totally different goals. I haven't even made an opinion on the Palestinian struggle for Statehood.

I'm refraining from making any comments on whether I think Israel is right or wrong because my aim is just to correct the wrong premises on which your arguments rest on.

It might interest you to know that Hamas existed as a neutral organization in Palestine long before it became a belligerent on the Israeli front. Hamas (As we know it today), Hezbollah and IRGC were directly born from the Islamic Revolution of 1979 when the Iranian monarchy was toppled by a theocractic religious conspiracy of Shia dominance in Mesopotamia, Arabian Peninsula and the Levant. I termed this "Shia extremism".

I promised not to comment, but I must and this will be my last attempt. On this my resolution is final.

The Iranian monarchy wasn't toppled by a Shia conspiracy or whatever you are saying. And to even say that is asinine to the nth degree.

The fact is that the CIA helped topple the last democratically elected government in Iran because that government was about to nationalize Iranian oil assets. The Shah the CIA helped install then became an American asset and was free to buy almost anything in the American arsenal, from Tomcats to Phoenixes. In fact, he often had access to weaponry that the American armed forces had yet to field.

But the Shah was deeply unpopular and repressive. Few shed tears when he was toppled in the Iranian revolution. Dunno where you are getting the whole Shia conspiracy from, because if the US had not shoved out the Iranian democratically elected leader, in all probability there would never have been an Iranian Islamic revolution, no Iran-Iraq war, no Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, no Gulf War 1 and 2, no ISIS and so much more. Imagine the many millions who could be alive right now if the US had left well alone.

And another thing, the Party of God was born from the Israeli invasion of Lebanon. Dunno where you got the stuff you are spouting. That particular invasion was by the way because the Israeli government held the PLO responsible for an attempt on the live of an Israeli ambassador, even though the attempt had been made by a group that was so hostile to the PLO that Arafat had long declared a death sentence on all its members. Israel used that assassination attempt to invade, till the Party of God chased them and their Moronite traitors out of Lebanon. But that has not stopped Israel from near daily violations of Lebanese airspace and I am very sure that If I dwell on that you will find another thing to excuse it away.

And as for the stuff I asked you to Google- it is about a group formed by Israel for the sole purpose of punishing Lebanon with car bombs. Why does that matter? Because you have been shouting Shia extremism here, whereas if I had the time and the motivation I could show you examples of when Israel has done every atrocity it has ever accused Hamas and Hezbollah of, from car bombings to the indiscriminate bombing of civilian areas and massacres, to the use of human shields. In fact, the only thing Israel has yet to do is suicide bombings, but then I am sure an "expert" like you would know that.

My advice is to lay off mushrooms/weed/Colorado and stop seeing Shia conspiracies in every corner and before you talk religious rubbish, I am an atheist, not a Shia extremist.

Israel may not be best of friends with many countries of the world but in the current geopolitical climate, they have only three enemies:
Iran
Hamas
Hezbollah

They all have the same root. Shia extremism.

The complication comes in when these guys operate from multiple countries and make use of tribal and religious proxies.

Lol. I no go debate you because this is clearly not worth it. Someone comes to your region, says God promised them the land, takes it by force, kills you and keeps killing you and says you are a terrorist for daring to refuse giving your land and possessions to them for free. But you are here shouting Shia extremism. You can't see the direct route that goes from Israeli actions to groups like Hamas and Hezbollah that are created to oppose these same actions.
By the way, do me a favor and Google "Front for the Liberation of Lebanon from Foreigners".
And this is my last comment on this matter.

I don't know the narrative you want to pass with this statement but most centrist to left wing news outlets have been very objective with their reporting.

Secondly I doubt if you fully understand the complexity of conflicts in the middle east and the fact that it involves a lot of so called non state actors and proxies. Israel doesn't attack the Syrian army but IRGC operators who are embedded within to "support" the Syrian army. Israel doesn't even support anybody militarily in the civil war although they have been friendly with YPG-PKK. If you know IRGC you'd understand the main reason they're in Damascus.

Similar thing with Hezbollah and the Lebanese army. Although this one is much more divided by tribe and party affiliations.

Lol. Excuses must always surface when it is Israel doing the killing and bombing.
Israel that for decades keeps violating Lebanese airspace and occupies the Shebaa Farms. Israel that out of the 200 plus countries on the planet has ignored UN resolutions the most. And the Party of God you dey talk about, hope you know that Israel had a hand on creating it during their 1982 invasion and it was this same Party of God that was instrumental in driving them out of Lebanon.

Israel has long annexed and control the Golan Heights, something that's very illegal according to international law. So, if the Syrians bombed the area, it makes a lot of sense seeing that is their territory. But they ain't gonna do that because you Mr Complexity will come here to wail about how Syria wants to annihilate Isreal.

Keep creating excuses while Israel keeps killing Syrian soldiers and civilians via JDAMS. As if you will be here talking about complexity when Syria retaliates for the latest bombing by bombing an Israeli airport. There cannot be peace unless every country, from the US to Israel obeys international laws

They have already bombed Syria and Lebanon. No one will say pim. But wait till the Syrian army or Hezbollah lobs one rocket into Israeli territory and the world media will suddenly find their voice and start screaming that Assad and Hezbollah wants to annihilate Israel.

I didn't type it to be funny.. As there are useless adults, there are also useless kids.. Yes even at that age....Adolf Hitler was also once a kid..

I am a living example... When I was a child and in play class, not yet three, this my female classmate was in the habit of cornering the male classmates including myself to the back of the school and putting our little peepes in her own little peepee... That shit went on till I left the school in primary four.. One 2 year old girl molesting her male age mates up till I was eight years old... That year, the world wasnt as woke as it is now... Teachers and even parents kept catching us in the act.. But they would either give us a few spanks on the back, or simply shout at us to "common stop that nonsense".... That girl is now a popular Nollywood actress with a penchant for fvcking anything that moves and has money..

You don't know the child in question. You haven't observed the chikd to know how naughty he or she can be even at that age...you don't know what kind of morals the child is being exposed to in his or her family... Only thing you know is that the child is two, therefore can do no wrong.

You dont have to agree with me, just as I don't t have to see through your own eyes on issues...

But you calling my comment shit and nonsense puts you on an equal level with a tantrum-throwing 2 year old.... You are too silly to be an adult... And I sincerely hope that you have no kids to pass on this your thoughtlessness to.

I just stumbled upon this thread on front page about how Pinnick and Co paid Davido $96,400 to perform at a show in Warri, Delta State. See link below

https://www.nairaland.com/7868608/pinnick-calls-out-davido-allegedly

As much I won't take sides on that matter, what immediately struck me in that story was that a Nigerian paid another Nigerian foreign currency to perform at an event holding in Nigeria... ..

To the best of my knowledge, the naira is still the sole legal tender within the geographical entity called Nigeria....Or is it?

If it is, why will Pinnick pay Davido in dollars to perform in Nigeria.. Or is there some sort of parallel legal tender running in Nigeria that the rest of us are not aware of?...

Is that why it appears the government is paying lip service about stemming the free-fall of naira's value... Is it that these bourgeoisie have since adopted foreign currencies as their own legal tender, so they honestly can't care less about the naira falls into the abyss..

Or to take it a step further, it's even to their own benefit that the naira becomes worthless because the lower the naira's value falls, the higher the domestic value of their foreign currencies?

This is more appalling considering the current FX crises where even petrol importers can hardly source these foreign currencies to deliver this essential commodity to Nigerians... I don't even want to talk about how Nigerians seeking FX foreign education or for legitimate importation business have practically been left at the mercy of the black market...it is far easier to get a pint of Ab-negative blood in a Nigerian Hospital than for a citizen to walk into any bank and get $1k equivalent of his naira.

Despite all these, it's depressing that a Nigerian in this country has approximately $100k to pay another Nigerian to come sing "E Ma Dami Duro" and "wey the money" in Nigeria, while many essential service providers and citizens seeking personal development abroad can't even have access to even $5k..

And what makes it even worse is the guts that Pinnick has to shove this disgusting act in our faces...If this isn't economic sabotage, then I don't know what is...

Can Davido or Pinnick go to the US and run a local transaction there in the Chinese Yuan, and boldly publish for the American public to see?

If the Government has given approval to set of private citizens to run their domestic transactions in foreign currencies, please It should extend it to the Public and shut down the naira and let's all adopt the dollar as our legal tender...

That being said, I want to believe there is a plausible explanation why Pinnick can pay Davido Dollars to perform in Nigeria, but the goat meat seller in Oshodi market can't charge in dollars per Kilogram of meat... Or why I can't walk into GTbank and demand that I be paid in dollars the equivalent of my withdrawal from my account with them.

If there isn't, some people need to be made an example of if the fight to save the Naira isn't mere playing to the gallery.

This dastardly behaviour isn't limited to only Pinnick and Davido.. Numerous Nigerian entertainment artistes, lawyers, schools, hospitals and even some hook-up girls now charge in foreign currency for their services rendered in Nigeria... And we act as if all is well while working to stabilise the Naira?.... You dey whine?

Many schools, especially in Lagos have been charging fees in dollars and if I remember correctly, there are some restaurants in Lagos and Abuja where you can only pay in dollars. So yeah, it's like the Naira is legal tender only in some parts of this country and not all parts.
