Notice – Strike Action

June 11, 2013 — The Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers (PAFSO) union is currently taking strike action. PAFSO union members responsible for processing visa applications have been walking out of offices in Canada and overseadd.

Posted processing times for both temporary and permanent resident visa applications do not take into account work stoppages.

Anyone applying for a visa should anticipate delays and submit their application as far in advance as possible.

Contingency plans are already in place to ensure all offices remain open and are providing at least a minimum level of service. Priority will be placed on urgent humanitarian applications.

CIC continues to closely monitor the situation.

The visa applicants are frustrated because of the long wait. The visa officers are frustrated because of the ernomous applications they are expected to treat.

Hi Mercylicious. Long time. How are you doing? I re-applied again last month. Not yet back on BB are you on watsapp?
Is your friend applying for visit visa? Not seen much change yet. It seems most successful study permit applicants get medical invite between 6-8 weeks after applying now.

Okay guys I have got a question please.

As everyone knows, I used the online method. So now they requested for the following after my medicals:

Original Company documents. (I'm use a company account owned by my dad and I'm a director in the company although he is the sole signatory)
Bank statement.
Original School documents. (I assume it's my transcripts, admission letter, certificate, waec results, TOEFL result)
One year tuition fees.
Passport.
My question is as regards the transcript. I have an original copy of the transcript but it has been water-marked with the name of one of the schools I tried applying to. (On every page of the transcript there is the watermark) . Is it safe to submit it like that or do I have to collect another from my school because it takes almost a month to get another one and I don't have that time.

Please all input and contributions would be duly honoured.

This sounds like double work to me, coz if you had submitted these docs physically initially, you may only need to pay for tuition and board afterwards if called for medicals.

VCTROKOYE: My guys I just got a mail(not thru VFS) from Canadian embassy asking me to proceed for medical within 60 days. I can't find any information about the accommodation or tuition fee payment. At what time should I get information to make my payments please.
I submit my application on 27 March.

But rather he should call vfs if he is not OK with waiting, my opinion though.

I agree with latra. I think d jay caused confusion by not quoting the message as it appears on screen. Think it's something like "for more info......" and that's the usual message before anything happens. I dont think he should start running to vfs. He may call them for "more info" before he starts "running" from ph to lag!

Do you have a conditional offer of admission which states you must submit TOEFL result?

I think such a conditional LOA will require you show VO you have met the condition by including TOEFL score.

I just submitted personally at VFS Ikeja. Got admision to study Masters of Technology Entrepreneurship and Innovation (MTEI) @ Saint Mary's University, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Start date is September 4.

The admission process was quite hectic. Seems I got all worn out even before visa application!

When did you apply? had to make an important business trip overseas and needed my passport. Was to arrive lagos tomorrow but had to change my return flight till next week.

Will have to go to Abuja to pick my docs and admission letter then rush to lagos to submit.

Frankly, I am already exhausted even before submitting my application. Will reduce docs submitted to the barest minimum and let them decide whichever way they want. If they like let them return saying it's too late. I only got this admission last week.

Bloody thieves! Police HQ in Abuja. They took a total sum of 17k from us just to get a police clearance thing. That it would be sent to Lagos for processing.

Currently out of the country till next week. I am thinking of going to lagos to submit personally to avoid case of being returned for one reason or the other as I am out of time.

Just got admitted to St. Mary's University (Master of Technology Entrepreneurship and Innovation). My admission letter was dispatched to Naija on Monday via courier so I cancelled my Humber PGD admission.

I hope they will not say it is late to apply as program start date is September 4

I think the general rule is that it should be valid for at least 6 months moving forward but, the confusion is dat CDHC is not like USA visa interview where you go today and say my passport expires in 7 months time, Unlike US visa procedure, CDHC can keep your passport from now till November and then tell you that your passport has less than 6 months validity remaining so go and get new passport just as they do to people with respect to start dates. If your start date is one a year, that is automatic bouncing.
The sad thing is that they will not blame themselves for keeping the application in the freezer all this while. Unfortunately, I apologise for wasting your valuable time as I do no frankly know what to advice. It may be possible to get a new passport and cancel the old one. Mine got missing and I applied for renewal (Worst case scenerio, you declare it missing, get a renewal and then go and get the current one cancelled claiming it has been found grin

kelly4top: go to vac tomoro and tell them u need ur documents back. It is not a crime that u lost ur receipt. They have ur intl'l passport inside ur application so they will use that to identify u.
I told u guys to start tracking last week end that CDHC has processed a lot of applications. For those who submited aorund sept, & oct and has not heard anything from cdhc, congrats oh. Especialy if u used close relationship as sponsor. They are interested in ur case and verifying ur documents now. They have dismissed almost all denials files last week.

Hmmmm, I have heard that "interested in your case" line before. It does not always add up eventually but..., well if only to keep spirits up sha.

I will prefer to be turned down in a week or month than for them to be "interested in my case" for 4,5 or 6 months then turn me down eventually. Do they realise what you can do with your passport and documents in 5 months?

If I re-apply and don't hear from them in 2-3 months, I will probably ask them to send me my passport and tell them I need it urgently. Our lives do not revolve around Canada and so they should not detain our destiny or put it on hold for so long. Some human beings will say "we have delayed this persons application for too long, in consideration of that, let us just approve the application", but Never canada VO. Anyway, I hope they start the process where they do not collect passport until TRV approval soon. The delay is to discourage people and break their spirits to re-apply.

@ mercylicious, I still encourage you to give it one more try. If you can get admission and hold on to your cash (if you succeed, remember galala123 forever!). Since you are waiting for one year to probably try USA, you might as well re-deposit your application with them during the waiting period, you are busy at work, apart from the strain psychologically, visa fee, police report and other running around expenses, what more can you loose?. On the bright side, they called you this time around which means you got closer to your TRV than the first time. The denial reason, if not vague will guide you further ultimately. Winners don't quit and 3rd trial, like 3rd position is acceptable by any standard.

Sorry about the development. Ive been there.
You may go with another soft copy in additiin to a another vaid Nigerian ID.
You may also wish to go armed with a Court affidavit ad police report as well in case they want to make things difficult as they are encouraged to take us for granted by VO's attitude towards us.

when i re-apply. Will it affpplication?
