mercylicious: Cdhc just called less than 5mins ago. They asked d duration of my course. I told them 2yrs. They said I wrote 1year, to end 2014. I told them yes. That jan 2013 to dec is 1 year. Jan 2014 to dec is 2years.
She said ok and dropped. Whatever it is, I know it will be positive. My dream doesn't fail me. I had a dream were I was sharing ppl rice and stew yesterday night.
This morning, I went and sealed d dream wit a seed in d church.
Whatever happens will be in my favour.

VAC must have tracked before giving U dat info. I guess U R not tracking properly. Meanwhile, I advise U keep calling VAC every otherday for update till U sort the tracking issue out. Cheers and good luck.

Have you tracked to know when it was delivered? It may still change as it could have been delivered on Monday or just yesterday.

Honestly @galala123 ive been thinking the same thing myself the year ia almost over considering the fact that even if one is called for medicals now, it takes in a best case scenario 3 to 4 weeks before the trv is ready and knowing that most winter start dates is january 7th. This is really sad. Anyway i have a question, i had already deferred from fall 2012 september to winter 2013 january, would it be possible for me to defer again to summer 2013 may?......please answers from anyone. School is carleton university.

It depends on your program. I found link above for graduate studies. Each course has various start dates depending on volume of prospective students among other factors. Sometimes a program is cancelled if they do not get enough students for the proposed start date also. You may write or call them for answers or check your program start dates online. The most important person/ people to answer your question is/are the college advisors who will understand what you are going through.

Been viewing and reviewing the thread every minute hoping to see good news. It crossed my mind a few minutes ago too. I hope they have not gone on holidays oh! Only to start calling eventually to ask if awaitees can get registration extension deadline letters from their various schools conSidering the christmas and new year holiday.
Meanwhile, while as optimistic as ever, I urge awaitees to begin to search if they can get May start dates and prepare to apply in case they have application deadlines. The problem with CDHC is that oftentimes, they just waste your time and block your chances of catching other opportunities by holding on to your package till it's too late to re-apply. There is no harm in being prepared for the worst.

When did the mail come in? Have you tracked since you got the mail?

My Bank is UBA Plc. I will go through my statement later to get the exact figures. I believe I paid in a cheque of about CAD12,800 and was credited with about USD12,3+ (seems they further took yet another fee from this amount again- will get the figures later).
I lost CAD500 non refundable accomodation deposit also. In fact the school got the non-refundable fee, CDHC got non refundable visa fee, VFS got their processing fee, DHL got their own share, the hotel I stayed in when I went to submit in Lagos got their own fee, transport company got their own, Bank got their own initial transfer fee + Bank draft for CDHC fee, and also got commission on clearing international money order and even corresponding bank got their own too. Na only me no get my own for the transaction oh! BuT the struggle continues. I did not submit for winter 2013 but, the tension is killing me as I wait eagerly for positive feedback for our peeps waiting for medicals invite. It is not an easy process which perhaps makes it all the more "worth it" if you succeed.

kanayogod: Joe is correct, its 3-4 working days, i have used it severally.

@effizypo, why not call the school to find out if they will accept a scanned copy. I sent a scanned copy and received my refund cheque about a month later via UPS from Humber, then waited another 6 weeks (or so) for international clearing (though it was international money order) and of course my Bank cut a huge chunk in fees as if it was part of the national cake not mentioning the unfavourable cross rate used to convert CAD to USD.
With all this forthcoming shortages you should avoid postage fees if possible as it is even more annoying considering the fact that they are not additional expenses linked to a "mission accomplished"; otherwise, I'd go for DHL, UPS or fedex which can be tracked and is more reliable if the document to be sent is so important (you don't want someone telling you it was not received in good time for full refund especially considering the holiday's ahead and be left with no evidence to prove date of delivery). Can U track EMS speedpost?

I do not think so. They have to stop at their hub in France to make the connection (perhapd CDG)

My brother, you sure say you for no get bill eventually if you had accepted the offer for services? In the US you pay for everything (even if Doctor comes to say good morning, his secretary will send a bill for that in the mail eventually). If U no pay, no problem, but na your record.

It is safe to pay. If you get TRV, no loss. If you are refused visa, all you need to do is send them a scanned copy of the refusal letter and they will send you a cheque being refund for the amount paid. Having waited so long, you may also wait till 5th to send the money in case you get feedback fom CDHC before then which may affect your decision to or noT to send.

I never said I had a stock pile of cash! The cash in my account at that time sef was used to balance a company for some equipment I just imported. The equipment was worth over $100k and I put the contract inside my application package with evidence of payment of significant deposit in Dubai (next time I will reduce documents) My plan is that since I had paid for tuition if they request for statement again, I would have just paid for my accommodation! So if no money for account again and I have paid all tuition, residence and board fees what else? I know I can take care of me whether VO agree or not! VO fit dey this forum sef!
The equipment just arrived Nigeria after more than 6 months delay and almost developing hypertension. The equipment was shipped from the company's manufacturing plant in India and they kept telling me lies and I kept threatening them I was coming but my dilemma was that my passport was with CDHC and I did not want the Indians to know as they will just relax knowing I cannot come! that's another reason why I felt I was not ready for the program in canada as I still need to get raw materials from overseas and had become confused coz I would have lost over #2m I paid to the school if I got visa but failed to turn up. So when they bounced me, I said "Thank God" though I am happy for the learning experience to benefit from in future when I try again. It may never be convenient but will keep trying. Something must give in.

I think I have talked too much on this forum. some people just pull you out of your comfort zone. Maybe deliberately.

my friend, I am still inclined towards the student route oh. I think it's better than starving myself to gather 180k and then collect loan of 620k which I will be paying interest on for 5 years at a disadvantaged interest rate (see how banks were fined in USA for charging discriminatory rates towards African Americans Recently). Once they draw the agreement you don't have much say since you are not shell or Mobil unlimited with financial muscle and consultants to negotiate fees and rates downwards. And if you don't meet up payment as and when due....OYO!

With 1/6th of the cash, I'm good to hit the road and can use subsequently earned money to cater for myself along the road.

As you are counting your 5 years on that route people will be succeeding after 3 years of residency.

Besides, not too keen on moving there completely with my family (my wife especially is not too keen or interested but I keep arguing we should have a plan B for our kids especially as these things get more difficult with time so lets not wait till they are of college age) or permanently as I earn more money here but for insecurity.

UPS. You will make payment at gtb for pick up service and then call vfs.

Check vfs Canada/ Nigeria website to get the process flow.

Problem is you will need to include Police report if you are going on a course with more than 6 months duration and need to get the report from Alagbon close in Lagos!

I think it still goes through vfs as it will be returned if required documentation is not complete and I hear they can return it for somewhat silly reasons. That's why vfs opened VAC's to help applicants check for errors and submit once and for all.

However, your package is sent back to you by courier after processing at CDHC. So you do not have to deal directly with vfs. Think you will still track on vfs website to see your application status. You may avoid going to a VAC or having direct contact with vfs but you cannot bypass them completely. It is on their website that you get the ups pick up procedure and have to call them to send ups rep to you.

This is my laymans opinion which is subject to further and better observations by fellow forumites.
