Kofi Annan, the former UN secretary-general and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, has today passed away peacefully at age 80 after a short illness.

The late Kofi Annan was married to Nane Maria and tied the knot in New York in 1984.

Nane Annan is the niece of Raoul Wallenberg, the Swedish diplomat who helped thousands of Jews to escape from the Nazis during World War II and who disappeared mysteriously in Budapest as Soviet troops entered the city in 1945.

In August 2001, she and her husband unveiled a monument to Wallenberg in Stockholm, the city where Nane Lagergren was born.



In Stockholm, she studied law, taking a degree in 1968, before becoming an assistant judge at the administrative and fiscal court of appeal.

She later took leave from the court to work with a parliamentary commission on ethnic prejudice and discrimination, before joining the office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Geneva as a legal officer in 1981.

Nane Annan, for the longest time, has focused on women's issues, programs designed to alleviate poverty, and the welfare of children, refugees and the disabled.

Kofi divorced his first wife Titi Alakija from Nigeria in the 70s before falling in love with his colleague Nane, leading to their marriage.

The Ex- UN Secretary General is survived by Nane Annan wife, three children kojo(Son), Ama Annan and Nina Cronstedt de Groot(Daughters)

But the problem is, salary does not commensurate with my role. My company makes a lot of money but dish out peanut to staff as salary, except for some few. My salary is 200k which is rather too small for my role. I handle some very sensitive aspect of the biz (there are things that only me knows how to to do,pls am not bragging); Even when am on leave, they just have to wait for me. There was a year I was 'begged' not to go on leave just to work yet no monetary compensation, my company is just too stingy. After 5 years, I started looking for another place and I recently secured a new job, salary is 450k but they claim I will have to be on contract for one year before they will absorb me so as to be sure I really know d job as claimed, am not really bothered because I sabi wella. The prob is, I resigned my appointment with my company hoping to resume with this other coy as I already accept their offer letter only for my MD to call me that he's pleading with me not to leave his company, that he will pay whatever they are offering me. I know he's capable of paying, Something similar happen eight month ago to another staff and she decided to accept our MD offer and she stays and shes still working now and not complaining. The truth is. Most of d I'll treatment I have endure in my former place is not known to my MD, and I think it's true because he's always out of the country, like 8 month abroad and 4 month in Nigeria. Some colleagues think i

The Secretary, Transportation Secretariat, Comrade Kayode Opeifa has announced fares as approved by the Federal Capital Territory Administration for Abuja Train Services from one point of the Stations to the other with effect from Monday,13th August, 2018 signalling the end of one month commercial free ride.

*Abuja Metro to and from the Airport Station*
Adults - N1000 (One Thousand Naira only)
Children and physically challenged - N700.00 (Seven Hundred Naira only).

* Abuja Metro to and from Idu Station, and Idu Station to and from Airport Station*
Adults - N500
Children and physically challenged - N300.

TRIP specific ticket purchases will be done electronically at the Departure Lounge of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport and at all our Operating stations Viz: Abuja Metro, Idu and Airport stations from ticket dispensing Kiosks, Ticketers and provided POS Machines.

Payment verification system is also provided at all the stations to control and count passengers after payment have been made.

Comrade Opeifa also appreciated Residents of the Federal Capital Territory and Visitors who patronised the Train services during the one month free train ride services provided by the Administration to commute through Metro- Idu- and Airport Stations of the Abuja Rail Mass Transit Services.

The Administration had announced the commencement of one month free train services a day after the commissioning of the project on the 12th of July, 2018. .
