PoliticsRe: FG Okays N2.2bn Party, Events Hall For Aso Villa by GARRIx7(m): 11:55am On Nov 29, 2012
HammedSodiqq: Today, the impact of globalization manifests in all independent states, making it necessary for all countries to adjust to prevailing realities. If the FEC decides in its wisdom that the present hall doesn't represent the image of the country, or presents some challenges, then a call for replacement mustn't be out of place. There are features in the proposed hall that are non existent in the old hall. For instance, security post, press briefing hall, and technical unit. All these are cardinal facilities that every seat of govt should have, especially given the present challenges in the country. We may not be direct beneficiary of the project, but the problems it safes us from, and the image it creates abroad cannot be overemphasized.
Nonsense!!!!

Israelmossaic: Banquet hall causing uproar. But let's be objective about this. Who wouldn't give Villa a facelift if elected as president? All facilities in the Villa must reflect new realities. Let's be fair, N2b isn't too much for us to be fighting over. Case closed
Mor.0n

Murphy T: i think wot we need to ask ourselves is the comfortability of the previous to visitors and the sort of facilities therein, does it march the prevailing situation in the country, i think most times b4 criticizing we must understand that there is a reason for everything, the govt is not foolish to build another banquet hall in a time like this, probably there are alot of facilities, including security facilities lacking in the former, and all this must be put in place...letz be slow to criticize and castigate most times...if anything bad show happen (God forbid) during any function, we will stl be de ones to condemn them for not putting everything in place...this r things foriegners see when they come into the country, it says alot abt our country, so if this will project us well in the world at large and further bring more investment, then the shud go ahead but also remember that we out here also need beta facilities too to better our lives.
Just like you, the Govt. is f00lish...

Unknown Member: - Okada is the Lazy mans option for a means of livelihood.

- Okadas became a nuisance in Nigeria.

- Okada has sent a lot of Nigerians to an early grave.

- Okada accident victims had special wards in many teaching hospitals across the country.

- The association of Okada riders did nothing to control its members.

- Criminals used it as a means of a quick getaway.

- They didnt even bother with any form of safety precautions like wearing seatbelts and carrying just one passenger at a time.

- The era of Okada has come to an end. in another 20 years, Keke Napep (which is now worse than Okada in terms of menace to vehicle owners) would also fade away.

PoliticsRe: Any Part Of The Country Can Break Way From 2014 — Shuluwa by GARRIx7(m): 9:40am On Nov 29, 2012
There is a clause in the amalgamation of 1914 which says that after 100 years of existence, any part may decide to go. Therefore, because of the oil that we have in the South-South, the Niger-Delta people believe that they can go on their own. And all the arrangements they are making is to make sure that by 2014 they will write a memorandum to the United Nations saying they want to become a nation separate from what is today known as Nigeria and they will draw a map, they will compose their national anthem. It’s just like what happened in Sudan. And that is the reason they insisted on Jonathan being the President this time because if you allow a northerner to be president, it will not be as easy to break away as when Jonathan is President.
Is this true??

How can I confirm the validity of that statement??

Does anyone have a link to the said almagamation document??

The insecurity that has now reached a level at which daring gunmen will attack the police and the military, the very institutions the country relies upon to ensure its internal and external security, is a reflection of the deep rot in other spheres of life in Nigeria.

ACN blasts Tukur over insecurity comments

The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) said the statement credited to PDP Chairman Bamanga Tukur, that the PDP is
not a security agency and should not be blamed for the insecurity in the country, is the clearest indication yet of the party’s alleged “cluelessness” over the worsening state of insecurity and other ills bedevilling the country.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, ACN said ”What the PDP Chairman is saying, in essence, is that his party is no longer fit to rule and that Nigerians should look elsewhere.”

ACN said it is inconceivable that a man of Alhaji Tukur’s standing, experience in public life and international exposure will not know the powers and responsibility of a ruling party.

”The PDP sired the President Goodluck Jonathan-led Federal Government that controls the security agencies in the
country, and the party’s Chairman is not unaware of this fact.”

ACN in the statement urged Nigerians to take their destiny in their own hands.

”The insecurity that has now reached a level at which daring gunmen will attack the police and the military, the very
institutions the country relies upon to ensure its internal and external security, is a reflection of the deep rot in other spheres of life in Nigeria.

”To be fair, the rot did not start in 1999. But 13 years is a long enough time for a party that is worth its name to make an
appreciable effort to turn things around. Sadly, the situation is worse today than it was 13 years ago” ACN said.

Fashola Tackles FG over $600m World Bank Loan

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola, Tuesday approached the House of Representatives Committee on Loans, Aids and Debts, seeking an intervention in an alleged attempt by the Federal Government to halt a $600m loan facility the state had with the World Bank.

Fashola who met with members of the House Committee on Loans, Aids and Debts, told the lawmakers that it was improper to halt a running loan facility, particularly when the loan had been factored into the 2013 budget proposal of the state.

In a petition presented to the House Committee Tuesday, the governor said the loan was procured on the understanding that Lagos State would access $200 million in three tranches over a period of three years, spanning from 2012 to 2014.

He however expressed surprise that after the state had accessed the first tranche, there were indications that the Federal government was no longer prepared to guarantee the loan.

Fashola, who stormed the National Assembly with his retinue of aides, was also joined in the protest by several members of the House of Representatives elected on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) at the meeting.

According to Fashola, the sudden refusal to guarantee the loan could frustrate the plans of state to deploy the borrowed funds to boost its infrastructure development plans.

“We have a commitment with the World Bank for a loan of $600 million offered to Lagos. It is supposed to be in three tranches and the first tranche was paid in 2011. We were expecting the payment of the second tranche when we got the shocking information that the loan facility had been stopped.

“As I speak, we have not received any official communication from the Federal Ministry of Finance about their concerns. I know that through the telephone communication I had with the Minister of Finance, she had told me that she could not accommodate Lagos State in the 2013 borrowing plan. My plea is for the second tranche to be included in the 2013 borrowing plan and the third included in the 2014 borrowing plans,” he said.

In the course of the meeting with the House Committee, some lawmakers suggested that the action of the government may have been informed by the general fears that states were bad debtors and Lagos may have problems liquidating the loans. But Fashola dismissed such fears an unfounded and cited the case of his predecessor who took a loan facility and the state paid back fully

Ejiné: Patrick Utomi should grow a brain and come run for governor in his homestate Delta.
Or has he abandoned it? He wonders why he can barely scratch 1 percent in a presidential election when he doesn't give two shiits about his home.
Who go vote you kwanu? Abi you no sabi say governorship also follow for promo?
How do we rally behind you when you're more interested in rallying behind a ready-made state?

At the current state of things, Pat Utomi is a joker at best... A very bad joker.
Seconded...
He is needed more here in Delta than in Lagos..
