When I say the Mods on NL endorse and tacitly encourage tribal wars my posts get hidden. Why on earth will a topic that will obviously lead to a tribal war be the subject of a debate??

As if that is not enough, the contest will be between Yorubas and Igbos.....

JARUS and Co. do you really expect any sensible thing to come out of this debate?? You of all people should know how many forumers lose their sense of reason when issues that involve etnicity are being discussed.

PointB: Farouk the son of Lawan (Theme: Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer)

You know Salisu Buhari
And Ghali Naa’ba
Patricia called Etteh
And Bank-ole and so on

But do you recall,
The most crooked representathief?

Farouk the son of Lawan
Was a very outspoken man
And if you ever knew him,
You would even say upright

All of the other looters
Use to hail and call him good
They always doff their hats
For Mr. Integrity

Then one foggy subsidy probe
Otedola came with doughs
While the tapes rolled frame by frame
Farouk caroused the doughs

When Nairalanders heard these
They collapsed in heaps and sighs
"Farcrook the son of Lawan
You belong to the Hall of Shame!"

Keep the nominations coming, let's nail this crook! grin

Emmy9898: This is a classic juvenile reasoning!

We number at least 150 million, with at least 100million of us desperately poor.

Then, a few thousand animals among us suddenly decide that a legitimate solution to their personal problems is to embark on a daily kidnapping, raping and robbing spree across the country.

And you appear to condone their evil acts on political grounds?

Unbelievable!
I don't condone criminality.

It's thesame bad governance which has made it had for the poor man to feed that is making it impossible for the rich to also sleep!!
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Anti-corruption Index Improves - TI 2012 Report by GARRIx7(m): 7:05pm On Dec 05, 2012
From 2.4 to 2.7 shows IMPROVEMENT. Arguing against data released by TI is hypocritical, it might also ßξ an indicator that some folks criticise not because they want the country to ßξ better, but because they are just being Partisan and tribalistic....

That said, I think there is still enormous work to ßξ done in tackling corruption in Nigeria. Corrupt elements must ßξ prosecuted and jailed. That will no doubt convince most pple that the govt is genuine in its Anti-Corruption fight...

PoliticsRe: Fashola To Sack 30,000 Katangowa Traders by GARRIx7(m): 4:30pm On Dec 05, 2012
Wallie: EXACTLY! In the US, if someone occupies your land exclusively for 20 years, then the person becomes the owner of the land even though you have title to the land. In England, the period is 12 years.

There are tests to be met before one can claim adverse possession. For example, (1) you have to use the land in such a way that everybody can see thereby giving notice to the owner, (2) your use has to be without permission of the owner, (3) you have to physically use the property, (4) you have to have exclusive use of the property, and (5) your use has to be continuous for the period required.

The moral of the law is, if someone occupies your real property (land) kick them off or give them permission to use it.
I guess we don't have that in Nigerian law... or do we??

PoliticsRe: North East, North West Zones Lead In Personnel And Overhead Costs by GARRIx7(m): 2:35pm On Dec 05, 2012
If the level of expenses and internally generated revenue (IGR) remain unchanged for some time, only two states in Nigeria would comfortably pay their personnel and overhead costs without having to rely on the monthly federal allocation. These are Lagos and Abia States. In 2011, Lagos State realised N147 billion as IGR, whereas its combined personnel and overhead costs amounted to N70 billion, while Abia State made N31 billion as IGR whereas its combined personnel and administrative cost was N26 billion.
Something good about T.A. Orji at last!!!!

PoliticsRe: Fashola To Sack 30,000 Katangowa Traders by GARRIx7(m): 2:08pm On Dec 05, 2012
Wallie: The squatters might actually have legal rights under the law. I would advise them to seek counsel before even talking to the government because there are certain things that can easily reverse the rights like obtaining permission from the actual owner or even leaving the place temporarily.

In law, there something called Adverse Possession that allows someone to claim ownership to a piece of land that is not theirs if they've occupied the land exclusively and continuously for a period of time without compensation to the actual owner. In most countries, that period is 20 years. I wonder what it is in Nigeria but it's certain to be less than 30 years if the law does exist.
Can you throw some light on the highlighted part??

I think in very simple english you are saying: "An illegality becomes legal if practised for long:
