My worry here is that through out the period of watching the car.... 10mins with ac (fan ran non-stop), another 10mins without ac and the fan never came on.

thanks a lot for your response bro. Just dat I need a bit of clarity concerning my specific concern/question. I believe and agree with you that it won't be same. The truth is that I hope to change it back to 13pin someday soon but I do not have almost 180k I was told it will cost. So my plan is to manage this 10pin for a while before buying the 13pin. So please advise me if the 10pin will cause any damage to any vital part of the car while I am using it before I gather money to buy 13pin. As in, what is or are the specific impacts or disadvantages of using the 10pin for a short while before switching back to 13pin when I raise money to buy it?Can it damage the engine or brainbox or any other major part of the car? Imagine you were driving a manual 5speed transmision, normally you would switch from 1-2-3-4-5

Now what was done in your case 2 was skipped, now you switch from 1-3-4-5 that's why it feels funny from 1-2 cause its actually doing 1-3.

The transmission ecm looks for solenoid valve 2 does not find it, then switches to 3 that's why you have that break in transmission.

Drive the 10pin as long as you like enjoy it, the drive will not be smooth but the pocket will be happy.

Worst case senario its the 10pin gear that will get damaged.

Hello good people NL, I need urgent assistance on what I can do to resolve the dashboard lights on my '06 RAV 4

I have scanned the car twice in two different locations and same fault: "rear right wheel sensor faulty"

I have changed the hub twice now (mechanic send we can't purchase the sensor on its own) as they say the sensor is an integral part of the hub but lights still persist.

Please can I get any assistance from the gurus in the house?

The dashboard lights are ; ABS, brake lights on, skid lights on and VSC

Since you have replaced it and it didn't work let's go about it a diferrent way. Get a multimeter and set it to resistance (Kohms) test if the abs sensor is actually working, next go to the abs pump and dissconnect the socket (remove car battery terminals first) from there you can check all four abs sensors using your meter. If the all checkout then I'm pretty sure you need a new abs pump.

Standing in fron of the car look inbetween the bumper and the condenser/radiator, you will see an aluminium canister with a wire connected to an a.c line close to it. Bridge 1-4 and take the car for a short test if the a.c does not trip replace the switch.

Please get an auto electrician to help you do this.


The gas will be discharged before the switch is removed.

Any gearbox can be rebulit, urs is relatively cheap (25-45k) not sure, so I don't see the point fixing.

My car AC switches between hot air and cold air when idling, say when am in traffic.

When I'm in traffic with the AC on, it blows cold air but then after some time the engine sound changes (to the way it sounds when AC is off) and the AC starts blowing hot air. After some minutes, the engine sound changes/engages again (the way it sounds when the AC is working normally) and it starts blowing cold air again.
It continues to behave like this so long as I'm idling.


What can be the cause of this?

Problem is most likely the preasure switch located near the drier, its failing, locate it disconect its socket, take a pic and ill show you how to test if ts the culprit.

The general rule is this (mostly Toyota's) a.c on fans will be on, when the aiconditioning cool temp has peaked in the cabin, the a.c module will signal the compressor to cut off, which will also signal the fans to stop working (unless if temp is above 90deg)

So OP turn off your ac and leave car running idle, it might take a while but your fans will come on eventually and go off when the fans have blownfor a while.

This will continue weather or not the thermostat is installed, the only diff is that with the thermostat installed the temp rises quicker and you don't have to wait forever for the fans to come up and go off.

Exactly! Gazzuzz, It started smoking n burning oil really bad just immediately after they grind the valve, that was y I had to buy another engine. Could that be d cause? How does it relate to this pls?

Your catalyst is blocked!!!! (I'm 90per sure) take it out and do a test to be sure, if you cannot affoard a new catalyst, remove the contents of your old one and space the oxygen sensor. Stop using the car until you check the catalyst.

I drive a 2003 toyota highlander, i noticed 2 days ago when climbing the pavement at the entrance of my house (it is a bit steep) that the car engine just went off on its own. I started the engine again and was able to move it around afterwards. Yesterday, while leaving the house again, as i reversed on this same steep surface , the engine also went off, i started the engine again and drove all the way to the office and back without any issue. In recent times, i also notice that the car's response time is a bit high when accelerating after a brief moment in traffic, the rpm also goes up suddenly when doing the acceleration. What problem could this be suggesting? I plan to do a scan this weekend though, but would like to get opinions so as to guide on areas to check

There is a defect in early U660E that the Camry v6 2007 on are fitted with. You may delay its manifestation considerably if you are not a power thirsty driver. You will remember this transmission was introduced in 2007, and in as much as Toyota did all they could to give owners a powerful engine-to-wheel connector, it came out with an unforeseen. I have learned to stay away from automobiles with pilot drive trains and technology, and this car falls well within this category.

In my earlier post, I mentioned that a TCM flash corrects this, but in some instances, it does not When a flash does not correct it, you will have to replace it (with another defective unit). There is a bearing in the unit that was not designed to spin, but immense torque tends to flex the transmission case and frees the bearing! The result is massive aluminium dust getting into valve body assembly, and we can imagine the effect.

If your unit so malfunctions, it needs to be torn down, and cleaned up. It is a rugged transmission, but its case is a letdown.

Just to update how far I went with the repairs.
1.All 8 plugs & 8 coils were replaced.
2.Engine filter & Cabin filter replaced.
Tried starting the car but refused to start.
2 of the 4 cats close to the exhaust were removed, car still refused to start and in the process 1plug went out fortunately I had 3 spares.

Not a very smart way to go about fixing a car.

Like a human check for vitals

1. Engine compression
2.A spark at the plugs (continuous while cranking)
3.Fuel supply (pressure must be minimum 3bar for ur engine)
4. Timing marks must be set right.



The fuel supply must pulse according to combustion sequence in the right order.

If all these are ok car will start 101per.

SEems you have an intake leak also looks like there's a faulty o2 sensor. Those codes came like dat without extra info?

yes my s430 does using c3 scanner it might not be exactly viscosity and oil grade the way you think but its more like oil quality on scale of 1 to 9 or 14 then a threshold value as well as the calibrated value of the current oil quality inside . Also, on long journeys and fast driving for like 12 hours it might advice you to change oil,i think there are some sensors and algorithms programmed on the ecu that actually calculates oil quality.
In the case of mobil 1 my car starts indicating change oil after driving 4000km within two and half months only, secondly if i drive say at 215km/h for a few mins it starts indicating change oil even though i changed oil two days ago. luckily with forte oil synthetic i have not experienced any of the above under the same driving condition hence my conclusion.

What type of mobil 1? 0w40? What of forte oil?

Don't be a smart ass when you are at ur mechanics, if not you might be surprised how little you know when it comes to tricks. Try and strike a balance and don't be rude.
