Kingspraiz: Good Morning, My Kia Rio 06 goes off after some minutes of driving, it starts and goes off again after some moments unless I leave it to really cool down. This started some weeks after I change the gear box. I got this code after scanning, P0708 & P1709 . Kindly assist.
Faulty range switch, has nothing to do with the codes.

Engine came out of a vehicle that was involved in a rollover in 2020 and sold October 2020. Very important to know when sold so you are sure it's not an old engine that was removed here in Naija .

Iv written about it more than once, but we don't buy engines blindly especially if they can be sourced from the American or Canadian markets .
Contrary to what a lot of so called professionals think about the Nigerian spare part market, you can actually get very decent engines and transmissions as long as you patronise the right source.
Currently this engine is scarce but I was able to fine one still sitting in a warehouse (yet to be shipped off to the retailers shop)
First thing, physical inspection of the engine , looks good almost all accessories intact , turn engine slow on the ground , no noises or stiffness, no cracks can be seen, all silicone gasket gums are stock, and a general feel of good compression when turned . Finally a peak inside the valve cover is heavenly , clean like it was just manufactured.
Finally picked out the vin tag and sent to carguide for a comprehensive report.
GAZZUZZ: Work is moving slow, as there is no pressure.
Engine oil inspected and found to be milky.
Engine must have had a history of overheating.
No metal particles in base of engine .
At this point a decision has to be made between a replacement and a rebuild.
Physical inspection of Engine reveals previous disassembly and also 2 layers of graphite head gaskets installed between the head cylinder and the block.
With this revelation Inam more than certain the abuse engine has received in the past is vast.
Full Aluminum engines do not recover well from overheating, there is a possibility of cracks and a lot worn out engine internals and based on our last MDX Viator possible missing parts.
So we don't keep this vehicle longer than necessary (I value my space a lot) we will be replacing the engine.
Please I have been saddled with the task of getting a family friend two toyota hiace bus to serve as a school bus.
Asides going with a trusted mechanic, Please what are the major things to look out for? What engines model should I avoid? What years are preferable? I am on the lookout for the long chasis type (18 passenger seats)
Most of these buses are from Europe and as such running a vin check on them might not yield so much in information.
Kindly see the attached pics of the hiace bus in question.

I have a week to deliver this task.
I once had a supply contract, this man was honest and straightforward.
molybdenum0012: Please I need your expert opinion. I got a Toyota 2005 from thr US recently and discover that the 4 Tyres are too small. 195/60R15, so each time I drive pass a bumpy road it scratched the ground.
Now I want to make a choice between getting a new Tyres, but unsure about the right size to go for that will not present a problem to the car. 195/65R15 is the standard Tyre size written on the manual, but someone suggests I go for 205/70R15 to achieve more clearance ground. While some other says I should have my car lifted up and then put the standard size, that it will be okay.
What's your suggestion sir? Should I go for 195/65R15, the standard size or 205/70R15 the higher one.
nenyewrites: Your country is on fire and this is the thread that makes it to the front page? I’m ashamed of the youths in this country. Continue being slow until the old ones quench you completely.
Should we Kee our sefs? Can talking about it solve the problem?
okoroemeka: okafors law no 1 states the simple fact that if you fvck a woman once you stand a 80-90% chance to fvck her again, only on one condition that you do the job properly the first time ,no matter what it will take,I am currently exploring the possibility of another law that okafor might have missed, that is if you are fvcking a woman and doing a pretty good job you also have a higher chance of also tasting her sister's,friends or any girl that is close to her,the law is still under analysis but it may be okafors no2 law.
mrover: Good evening mr Gazzuzz, Well done on the good work you are doing. Pls my civic 07 is having starting issues. At first it was random delay in starting sometimes after a refuel. I suspected battery and bought a new one, no difference. I then changed kick starter (after a technician tapped it to start) yet it persist. Another tech guy checked fuel pump, serviced the fuel line and changed coolant temp sensor, but it still persist.
Presently, this happens more often in the morning; the dashboard just goes off in-between while igniting, struggles then starts on 3-4 attempt. During the day it starts fine. My mechanic suggested it's a relay or electrical function. Thought to consult the guru as well. No check light. Kindly assist.
bastien: There is this loud noise that comes from my car every morning I start the car..... it sound like a whistle noise and the engine too later after a min or two it will reduced and died off... called a mechanic he tried to get where the noise was coming from and said it’s probably from the compressor
