Mutemenot: Oga Gazzuzz, I encountered 5 hours traffic jam last week, infact at a point I spent over an hour without moving .. My AC was on as the weather wasn't friendly, at a point I discovered my car temperature was going high. I had to off the engine and AC, it normalized .. so later I realized one of my fan stopped working and the coolant reduced... Now my fan has been restored, I discovered there's a little bubbling in the coolant once I start the Engine.. Pls, could this be burnt gasket or is there any possible cause ? Is it safe 5o use the car ? If it's top gasket, is 2AZ Engine safe when replaced with a new gasket? Thanks in advance
If you have consistent bubbles in radiator when cover is open, it is very likely you have a blown gasket.
numericalguy: after the scan, it gave this error code P2196
The engine oil is also very dark and it wasn't that long ago since the car was serviced.
Disconnect the B1S1 O2 sensor , it is giving off wrong info to the engine ECU. You should replace it as soon as possible, but if you cannot disconnect it, it's better of not connected than the havoc it is currently causing.
numericalguy: Good morning GAZZUZZ and other car gurus in the house,
My younger brother's Toyota Camry 07 just started bringing out black smoke at the exhaust and the rate of fuel consumption has increased tremendously. We were at the mechanic but he wasn't around and we would go back later.
Pls what could be the cause of that and what are the possible solutions.
femi9naija: Good morning oga Gazzuzz. What's the best oil to use for the first time oil change for a 2003 Toyota corolla altis with 3zz-fe VVTi engin? Attached is the manual recommended oil type for different temperatures
I cannot respond without having a service history. This vehicle was not used in the USA so common sense must apply not assumptions
idmoore: LolZz... Out of fuel...ke? The Stallion guy, Technician is here and he confirmed the fuel control module is fault. I wonder while a new fuel Co trol module will go bad. Though, his changing ni Sha... and will later diagnose the car. He assured it it will be fine.
Volkswagen.... Lovely drive but the wahala.
I wanted to say something but..... Congrats solution found
I no fit park the car outside, Moreso na official car. Though the Mechanic is on it way, but I was just worried what could be wrong with the car, having changed those components.
I perceived the fault is still from the fuel line...
idmoore: @Gazzuzz Yes it worked, I drove from Mile 2 to Maryland, from Maryland to Alapere, from Alapere to Ikorodu.
I still went to a few places within Ikorodu, till I got home around 12 midnight lastnight.
It was lastnight and I was about entering my gate the engine stopped and I tried to start it again, it will start and off immediately. Now this morning, just cranking no starting.
So, it worked, well with AC and full operation as at yesterday afternoon till midnight.
Seems pretty straightforward. Avoid using that gate. Park outside.
idmoore: A VW Passat cc 2015 model engine just stop when I was about to park into my compound after several waka.
The car has being abandoned for a year but overhaul was done early this week.
I changed the followings: Fuel pump and it assembly. Oil filter Spark plugs Air filter Fuel control unit Engine oil Buzzer horn Instrument cluster Coding of the Cluster
I tried to start the engine multiple times, engine starts and off back immediately. As at this morning, the engine is just cracking not starting.
What could be the problem again. @Gazzuzz @Nurey @Sienna @Raduauto
especially in terms of low temperature pumping and flow. High‐temperature stability leading to protection against deposits is also superior. These attributes translate into less engine wear, which helps keep your engine running like new
Synthetic blend is a mixture of mineral oil and synthetic oil with out specifying the percentage mix. If it's a 10per mix of synthetic oil to 90per mineral the label will still read synthetic
FAQs for Mobil 1™ What makes Mobil 1™ motor oil superior to our synthetic blend motor oils? First, the performance of Mobil 1™ line of motor oils is more robust, especially in terms of low temperature pumping and flow. High‐temperature stability leading to protection against deposits is also superior. These attributes translate into less engine wear, which helps keep your engine running like new, and obtain long engine life. Synthetic blend oils lack the high level of performance of synthetic motor oils in the areas of low‐temperature performance and high‐temperature oxidation stability. The base stocks used in Mobil Super™, one of our synthetic blend motor oils, are of a high quality, but those used in Mobil 1 fully synthetic oils are better.
I recently started seeing this new Mobil Super 3000 fully synthetic 5W-40 engine oil at their partner filling stations all around Lagos.
The details on the oil gallons are not well explained to specify the application on cars either by models, year of manufacture or certification/standards.
Has anyone come across this engine oil?
Have you used it on your car?
What cars are they recommended for?
Is it applicable to Toyota cars of engines from 2009 upwards?
Is it an alternative to Mobil 1 advanced full synthetic oil?
freemayor4u: Gazzuzz and nurrey Please I was directed to you to help me out My 07 highlander fan works both at ignition on position and at start wish should no suppose to be so Pls help me out it's a toks that was how I peak when it come out from port last week and nothing has been touch on the SUV. Pls I need your help I don't want kazeem to toy with it Thanks
open your bonnet, near the fan you will see this Siver module with lots of wires. Where I pointed this arrow, you will see a tiny wire on the socket that has been cut, join it back and fan will work like factory.
nurey: This particular model doesn't have issues though compared to the 08 above model year. check if you left the fan on not necessarily with the AC on, just the fan settings.
if that isn't the issue then it's electrical, you need a good technician to trace your issue like Gazzuzz cause me no be car technician
EgunMogaji2: We don’t post much about bikes on here so I’ll entertain some of yah all with my exploits.
I picked up a Suzuki GSXF600 and a BMW R1100R this week. Special thanks to Shagati and Gazzuzz who valiantly tried to assist me. I just have to realize that I might be retired but most people I know are not and are busy people
I rode the Suzuki back from Osogbo but paid someone to ride the BMW down from Ajjah.
Both were sold as “Tokunbo” but they are most definitely not. I’m okay with it because I “stole” them price wise. So one can say that the eyes say what it wanted to see
None of these bikes will be restored. But I will try to unNigerianize what has been Nigerianized. Yah all know what I mean.
The Suzuki:
Makes all the sweet sounds, runs like a raped ape, has decent tires. I performed an oil change using K&N filter and Visco 2000 oil. Cleaned and lined the chain.
I foresee this being replaced by a classic GSXR1000 soon.
The BMW:
Well, it rode down from Lagos under its own power abi
I stalled out on the way home and the battery is dead. I’ll sort out a proper brand new battery today. Of note, I tried jump starting it and even in 3rd gear it simply locked the tires. In my layman’s opinion this means that the engine has very good compression. A very good thing.
I need to change the oil before I even start riding it but I can’t find a K&N163 locally.
Anyways keep tuned for our exploits.

Or you lost some good weight
Congrats on your barn finds, looks like a 2 for the price of one
DanielsParker: Good evening, I just got 2003 Lexus ES 300. Please what’s the correct oil I should use on my V6 , 6 cylinder engine. ? Thanks in anticipation
I have a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. Drives smooth but when I do a scan it gives an error code P0102 and also consumes fuel. Was advised by my auto MECH to change the MAF sensor. After changing it, same code popped up over again.
It was later found out that the plug for the MAF sensor wire had no earth (The wire cut somehow). After fixing the Wire and scanning, there are no codes. But now, the car keeps jerking or shaking on neutral and on gear one.
drakeskull: What's the solution to Camry 2013 transmission shudder that makes it exhibit a brief, intermittent transmission shudder while driving under light loads between 25 and 50 mph?
Boss.... Post am biko
Na only torque converter I replace, sourced from local tranny sellers.
Main problem was identifying the updated torque converter (oyibo has a part number for it). I'm not even sure the one I used is the updated version but it's been working fine.
Basically.....
I took car there Went with the torque converter I bought myself Told them exactly what to replace.
Tranny filter was replaced All ATF was replaced (drain and refill)
Did another drain and refill a week after(careful not to overfill).
It's been driving good ever since.
NB: the only sure way to get the updated TC is buying from eBay
Have you ever wondered how you can identify fake custom papers?
All you need to check is what we call “CUSTOMS REFERENCE NUMBER“ or C-Number on your SGD form "Single Goods Declaration Form".
How To Verify And Rectify Your Custom Duty Papers As we all know, Nigeria Customs recently set a deadline for offenders to pay outstanding import duties on their cars.
Have you ever wondered how you can identify fake Customs' papers?
All you need to check is what we call “CUSTOMS REFERENCE NUMBER“ or C-Number on your SGD Form - "Single Goods Declaration Form".
This particular number is actually used to input details of your vehicle and payment of duty into the customs’ database. It shows information like the Consignee info (agency handling your job), the means of entry (road for vehicles through land borders and ports for sea), office of entry (Idiroko Customs Command or TIN-CAN PORT), location of vehicle and place of discharge (Idiroko Border, Seme Border, Tin-Can), name and address of person/persons responsible for financial settlement (the owner of the vehicle) etc.
What fraudulent dealers do is called MO or Machined Outside - This is a process where a forger forges the bank receipts and all customs documentation. The documents look genuine but are not in the customs data base. It is a giant syndicate at the ports and borders because the vehicles are ultimately smuggled out of the Ports or Borders with the connivance of fraudulent Customs Officials.
At the top right hand corner of your document is a very bold set of numbers. This is the “C”-Number. You can not miss it because it is bold and prominent. Underneath it is a date. That date is to reflect the date duty was paid at the bank and stored in the customs ASSYCUDA data base. ASSYCUDA means “automated system customs data”. And the date under the C number means that that C-Number was computed into the data system on that date plus all the charges paid. If the payment reflects on the data base it means your documents are genuine. On the other hand if it does not reflect it means your car documents are duds/fake and your vehicle is liable to seizure and confiscation if you are stopped at any check point or if you are on a long distance journey.
My advise to any one buying a car from anybody is to request for the relevant documents in particular the SGD form which means “Single Goods Declaration Form” and has the C-Number boldly written at the top right hand corner. Under the C-Number is the date that document was posted into the data system.
No two vehicles can have the same C-Number and date. So armed with this you can visit any customs station to know if your documents are genuine.
With some cotonou smuggled cars showing up on our streets with forged documents as Lagos cleared cars and vehicles been machined out of the ports, this is a stress-free method of verifying your papers.
I am making this post for verification of Customs Papers (Duty Payment/ C-Numbers) from the following points of entry :–
1. Lagos Port (Tincan, PTML, Apapa) 2. Onne Port 3. Idiroko
All you need to do is supply your name, address, VIN and the C-number of the vehicle and we run checks on it.

calculusx: A lot has been going on here lately, got no much time to follow-up. When you are done with this MDX come and pick this Acura ZDX in Ilupeju as your next project. I have forgotten I have this idling away for 3yrs.
MrEnigma: Good evening Oga Gazzuz, i recently got a 2005 Toyota Camry Tokunbo (4 days ago) and i want to perform an oil change later this week. Please what brand of engine oil would you recommend I use?
Please bear in mind that the car would be used for e-hailing. Thank you.
first you have to understand your engine. A 2005 Camry would be nearly 200-250,000miles.
Oil burn would have set in.
Start by buying what would make sense long term (forget what the books say)
5w30 full mineral oil for 3000 miles let's see how the engine handles oil burn.
