So my vehicle has been displaying this VSC and TRAC OFF warning lights for a while. I know the Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) isn't working properly which is why the light is on and the TRAC is off which is why the light is also on.
Suddenly my ABS had a problem and the ABS light went on. The vehicle couldn't move into transmission. So I used the emergency way to move it to my mechanic.
The mechanic fixed the ABS and the light went off. But he couldn't fix the VSC.. do you know what this man did? He used something to block/off the VSC and TRAC light and told me my vehicle is now perfect.
My vehicle is perfect and "Check Engine" light is still on and my TRAC is OFF so the light should ON not off So I suspected foul play and waited till night and looked at the dashboard closely and noticed this crazy man smuggled a small piece of paper into my dashboard to block off the lights from showing. And collected my 50k for ABS and VSC
I unscrewed the dashboard and removed the paper myself and both VSC and TRAC lights started showing again. Can you imagine that?
That is why Nigeria is where it is...
Please take your vehicles to authorized dealers and engineers only. Not those oluwole and Owolabi mechanics.
ZIMDRILL: From the discription, thats has nothing to do with ABS, do you know how ABS works ? Its simply stops the brake from locking all the wheels during braking, his/her problem is the brake pedal not returning after braking
Faulty abs pump could cause a loss of pressure on brake lines seen it lots of times.
kessel: ok,thanks....whats your advice now, should i leave honda hallas totally or what,am actually considering that cause of the amount of cash i ve at hand and the need for mobility for me now is very high.
you are only buying that car based on your budget sir. If you had the means you wouldn't buy it. Get a sound tech, to check the vehicle, list the issues, quantify the cost of fixing the issues, then make a decision if the cost of vehicle+repairs still fits your budget.
karo93: My brake has gone flat and soft for over a month down and doesn't return unless pulled back up using the toes....
So far.... The brake has been bled frequently, master brake changed, servo changed, brake pads still in good condition, brake fluid level constant.... No leaks......
Both myself and the mechanics are confused....... Any one with suggestions and pointers will be appreciated
kessel: Wow Why do u say so...I guess u are in Abuja lagos, heard so much about u.....gazzuzz everywhere
production started in 1989- ended in 1993, vehicle is approximately 26years old, possibly 10years naija used. Chances that it is still in good shape are very slim sir.
aoshi: Many thanks for your response. Would the CEPSA 20W50 put a stop or mitigate the oil shortage damages? Bottom line of what I get you are saying is that I should start saving for a new engine, right? How much would a new engine cost me (4 cylinder)? Many thanks again.
aoshi: i use mobil xhp. Recently serviced it before a trip to Benin and back to PH
2AZ has known oil short issues with recommended grade of oil at high mileage . Using expensive 5w30 will not help in your case. Your engine is spent, if I were in your shoes use CEPSA 20W50 until I can afford to get another engine.
kessel: Good evng people, I will be paying for a Honda halla today, please advice me on things to look out for to ensure d car is in good shape, thanks in anticipation
