The issue is I reside in South Africa, so I have taken my car to this particular mech who extort me 12000 Rand, without any solution.

N.B : With the exchange rate now in Nigeria, 12000 is almost 300k naira, that has really got me pissed off, once again I sincerely apologies to Mr Gazzuzz, Sir if I'm forgiven kindly. Let me know

A malfunction indicator lamp (MIL), also known as a check engine light, is a tell-tale to indicate malfunction of a computerized engine management system. It is found on the instrument panel of most automobiles. When illuminated, it is typically either an amber or red color. On vehicles equipped with OBD-II, the light has two stages: steady (indicating a minor fault such as a loose gas cap or failing oxygen sensor) and flashing (indicating a severe fault, that could potentially damage the catalytic converter if left uncorrected for an extended period). When the MIL is lit, the engine control unit stores a fault code related to the malfunction, which can be retrieved with a scan tool and used for further diagnosis, the diagnosis maybe retrieved without a scan tool in some car models. The malfunction indicator lamp usually bears the legend check engine, service engine soon, or a pictogram of an engine. In the United States, specific functions are required of the MIL by EPA regulations.[1]

The MIL appeared in the early 80s along with computerized engine controls. Even the earliest systems, such as GM's CCC (Computer Command Control) system had self diagnosis functionality. When the computer detected a fault, it illuminated the MIL. Up until OBDII, on most cars the MIL could output codes, when two pins on the ALDL are jumped, the light would flash the codes, for instance (blink) (pause) (blink) (blink) for code 12. Some manufacturers, such as Honda, retained this feature even after OBDII.

It's common in camry Avalon and rav4. It has a very simple fix. I fixed mine myself. It just needs lubrication. There is a TSB on it.

My camry 2.2 99 model power steering pump failed leading to the steering not turning freely without much exertion of muscle. I have tried replacing the pump but it appears that after 3 different pumps were fixed, the car steering remains the same. My mechanic is suggesting that it may be from my steering rack, don't know how possible that is. Please Gazzuzz and othe auto gurus in the house I need advise on what to do as I am losing sleep over this.
Note: steering rack was replaced about 4 months ago.

Having an overheating issue with me infiniti Fx35.. D car was idle for 3weeks and when I moved it, I noticed it was overheating and one of ac fan not working. I hav repaced the ac fan but still ovrheating.. I scaned it and got P1721 error code. I have disconnet and onected back the battery but noticed that though I over heats but not as fast as before.. Before the temp jumps vey high under 5 min of driving but after disconnecting and conecting the batery, the temprature rise is gradual.. Attains a high temperatue rise after about 45 mins of driving. The car doesnt overheat while idle and even with the Ac on... Plese how do i reolve this overheating isue .. Whats the implication of this P1721 error code as per this overheating in my infiniti fx35 2005 model?

Check if it has thermostat which the road-side mechanic call thomostat...if there is, it has to be removed...it was placed there to cause heating on cars in the temperate regions during winter it keeps the car going...but here in the tropic region it usually causes over-heating.

Dear NL, Little help would be appreciated.
I have been having fuel pump issue for the past month since i purchased a Babyboy.

All the pumps i keep getting(new/old/tokumbo) keeps getting weak after a short period of use. i will have to throttle down for the vehicle to move or pick... and when i turn on the AC.. well same senario only that i will have to throttle much longer. like the supple of fuel is not enough.. the car never switch off. in the morning for a few minutes it performs well and den goes bad
Mechanic claims i have been buying fake
secondly the engine does not have an exterior fuel filter like other honda engine(dont know if that the cause) but that was how it was designed. has only the one in the tank.

I am now in search for the best fuel pump i can get.
