The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Dr Lawan Abubakar has debunked media reports that the union had postponed its National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting slated for tomorrow.

According to him, the Union had previously postponed the scheduled NEC meeting to mourn the death of Festus Iyayi, a former President, who tragically passed last Tuesday in a motor accident along the Abuja-Lokoja highway. Abubakar also denied that the striking lecturers had accepted the over N1trillion offer by the Federal Government, adding that the Union is agitating for the full implementations of the 2009 agreement, and ” nothing less”.

Though we all have our individual differences but lets not take away the fact that there are principles and values governing our existence on earth.
Below are some of the tips that could help us have a good life if we apply it appropriately...

Live Today: Past can’t be brought back and the future will always be uncertain. Today is yours, so make the most of it.

Fair Punishment or Not?!
According to the Punch, four women have been sentenced to 200 hours of community service after they pleaded guilty to the charge of prostitution brought against them by the police on Tuesday.

The women whose names are Blessing Esu, 28; Nancy Brownson, 35; Patricia Timba, 34 and Josephine Idoga, 21- were asked to sweep and clean the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court and its environs for 200 hours as their punishment for the act.

The police had told the court that the ladies of easy virtue were caught on November 11, 2013 and on different streets soliciting customers.
According to The Punch, the investigating police officer particularly said the area was within vicinity of banks. A raid was said to have been conducted around 2.25am on the Victoria Island area of Lagos.

They were apprehended and detained by the police before being taken to the Magistrate court. The single count read, “That you, Blessing Esu, Nancy Brownson, Patricia Timba, and Josephine Idoga, on November 11, 2013, at about 2.25am within different streets in Victoria Island, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District were found loitering for purpose of prostitution within banks vicinity.”

The prosecutor, Inspector Chidi Okoye, said the offence was contrary to and punishable under Section 166(a)(ii) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.
The problem i have with this police is that they only managed to arrest four when there are thousands of women like them on the streets of Nigeria who need curbing.

Park Eun-Seon a South Korean Footballer has been asked to take a Sex test to prove she is a woman, even after scoring 19 goals in 22 games in the country's women's soccer league. The entire league is threatening to boycott all games unless Park, the competition's best striker, takes a sex test. Some of them think that Park is actually a man.

In response to this accusations, Park took to her Facebook page a few days ago to express how she felt about the situation saying,

"I have gone through the gender examination thing several times. I did it in a World Cup, in an Olympics and in several others and there were no problems. I've worked so hard to get to this point, and I will not give up easily. I know what these people are trying to do, and I won't fall down." She wrote

Secretary General of Seoul Sports Council Kim Joon-soo supported Park in a statement, saying,

“This is a serious violation of human rights that she’s suffering for a second time. The question regarding (Park’s) gender identity shall never be raised again. The city of Seoul will take all necessary measures to protect our player’s human rights,” he said. Local media reported that six of the WK-League’s seven coaches held an informal meeting on October 19 and subsequently filed a complaint with the Korea Football Association that if Park did not take a gender test they would boycott next year’s competition. Park has agreed to go through another test.

On the my sports news of today is the man who chews gum like the retired Manchester United Manager, Alex Ferguson in person of Mr. Austin Eguavoen.

Sources say that the Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole has approved the appointment him Austin Eguavoenwho was the former Super Eagles coach as the administrator of Insurance Football Club of Benin.

Also, another former national team coach, Shaibu Amodu, was named as technical adviser to the state-owned football outfit in announcement made in an Benin over the weekend.
Others named to pilot affairs of the team are the Edo FA Chairman, Chief Abel Ehigie, Charles Ihiemekpen who will serve as the secretary while the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere was named as chairman of the interim board.

Oshimhole said Insurance must be returned to where they belong, “not the lower league.”
He mandated the interim board to oversee the transition of the club for a period of three months preparatory to the appointment of a substantive board.
Part of their responsibilities includes ascertaining the club’s position.

This is becoming a common phenomenon in the Nigerian Music industry where groups separate, artists originally signed to a record label decides to leave for personal reasons and counting.

You all will remember the popular Hip Hop group Plantation Boiz which included Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo (Blackface Naija), Innocent Ujah Idibia (2face Idibia) and Chibuzor Oji (Faze) back in the year 2000-2004 where they released 2 albums together, Body and Soul in 2000 and Sold Out in 2003. It was after this that the beef began which led to their permanent separation. This separation had positive effects on some but the reverse was the case for the rest. Since then no one has ever mentioned or heard anything about them.

The next on the list is the Mo' hits crew which included D banj, Don jazzy and Wande Coal. Mo' hits as at 2004 was filled with many talents, including D Banj (the first recording artiste of the record label), Wande Coal, Dr Sid, D Prince, Don Jazzy and K switch ended up being another failure as one of the artistes became unsatisfied with the record label and decided to announce his separation from the group. This was the koko master himself Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo popularly known as D'banj on Thursday, March 31 2011. it even led to the eventual Defunct of the record label.

Another one is the Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) which includes Mode 9, ID Cabasa, Eldee, Wizkid, Skales and Banky W (Baddest Boss). Speaking about Whizkid, this is another Nigerian artists who somehow divorced from a record label, EME. you can read about his reasons for leaving the record label HERE.

Now the latest on the news is Wande Coal versus MARVIN Records. Trending in the Nigerian Music Industry is the shock exit of the Black Diamond popularly know as Wande Coal from MARVIN record which initially included Don Jazzy, Wande Coal(Now removed), D Prince, Tiwa Savage and Dr Sid. MAVIN records was founded by recording artist and record producer Michael Collins Ajereh on May 8, 2012 after the collapse of Mo' Hits.

I don't know how long this will continue but we are all humans with wants that can never be satisfied... I don't want to be on the negative side but i foresee more artists leaving record labels that they are signed to in the near future.
