Man utd werent going to CL when they attracted Di Maria, Shaw
We got Di maria but in the end we realized he actually never wanted to be here, and we knew how that worked out. He wanted PSG but the deal couldn't go through due to FFP. FFP is basically dead now.

Shaw was making a step up in his career from a significantly lower team in the league and we were the only ones who could match his fee comfortably when he was up for sell; our league position was as irrelevant as it got in the transfer.

Monaco werent playing CL when they attracted Falcao, James
Wages man, wages! Monaco has been paying huge in recent times and it's more likely due to that( not guaranteed)

Unlike in the PL when about 4 big teams can pay very huge wages as well and some have the offer of CL football. The situations vary.

Bayern wasn't playing Cl when they attracted Klose Lucatoni and Ribery
Bayern so far as i know can outspend everyone in the bundesliga. Even when they spent a good part of the previous decade being mediocre, the finances were still there.

i am not sure Liverpool was playing CL when they attracted Suarez
Refer to shaw.

We are discussing world class players here not those who are upcoming, past it or have been frozen out and currently (though i shouldn't admit it), City is a more attractive team to those players than United as we can both pay the same wages but they are in the CL and we are not.

I remember you stating recently Gotze foiled his move to Liverpool due to the latter's absence in the CL. The CL is a big pull but not everything though.
When Mourinho delivered at first attempt he took a team who just finished 2nd in the league and a team who no one in Europe could match their financial power
Chelsea may have finished 2nd in the league the previous year but Jose deserves a lot of credit, more than you'd be willing to give him for what he did at first attempt. Raineri spent over 100 million pounds but couldn't deliver any trophy, not even a spoon. Most managers would have gotten the same resources with conditions constant and not still win the league. Mourinho had to win it by 95 points, the record highest points till date and setting some other significant PL record that exist till today. That act was bigger than what you are trying to make it seem like.

If I were Goetze I will stay put. I am very disappointed with the way Kalle has treated that boy. The boy that was benched for 2 seasons you are still threatening him with bench. I don't think he cares at this point. They should just let him see out his contract

Rummenigge dropped the ball by not giving him an extension. If he shone at the Euros we would have gotten a solid offer for a player that would still have 2 or 3 years left on the contract. Now he could opt not to extend and go on a free at 25. He would probably get a massive signing bonus too and doesn't have to worry about being left out of any major competition for the national team

This is even worse than with Kroos because Goetze expressed his willingness to stay. We would be losing two of the best players their age group for a combined 25million Euros. We just bought an unproven Renato for 35m to put things in perspective
I feel sorry for Gotze but i can't really blame Bayern for this. Some times these things don't just work out as expected.

He should move on but he's smart to have rejected Liverpool though. I think he's hoping to put up a good performance at the Euros so he can get better offers. He's doing the right thing.

My own be say we shouldn't appoint a manager who had almost relegated his previous team.
he should have gone to another team to rebuild his image before coming to Manutd.
We needed a manager who's had just left his team in high shape like Fergie, Pep, Ancelotti etc did, coupled with the fact that Mourinho isn't coming to steady any ship like he did at his previous clubs, he's coming to rebuild a team, which is never his forte!
Like I already said, you're a lunatic.

Look at the nonsense you've written again. angry

So until July 1st before Mourinho can begin to talk to press about Manchester United.

Why not June 1st?
I think that has to do with some details in his Chelsea contract.

based on my understanding, the issue of youth policy is more of a club policy more than a manager policy. Barca have a very good youth set up which made it easier for guardiola to make use of them when he was called on to manage the senior team. he knew the youth players in barca very well because he coached them. the same cannot be said of his time in bayern. and I doubt if he would look to the youth academy in mancity too.

on ur point that rashford is more likely to fail on d long run....u r very wrong an dat assertion. rashford is going to be a successful footballer. it is evident in his game. at such an age u rarely see him make mistakes...with the exception of being still a teen, he might make some inexperienced decisions once a while but his overall game play shows a player who plays better than his age. the difference between martial and rashford is minute.
I would give you time and hope you read my post again to understand because this post of yours is not a reply to mine.

Emaprince thanks, BTW.

People are just following the bandwagon.

He chose to play a 22 years old Cech over Cudicini

Mourinho played a 17 years old Santon at Inter Milan

He gave a 20 years old Varane ample playing time at Madrid, same story for Zouma at Chelsea.

I believe that if he feels a player is ready and good enough he will do the needful.

I can't wait to see what he can make do with Fosu-Mensah. The guy looks a lot like a Mourinho style player.
Very good post. You can add Robben at Chelsea, Varane, Di Maria etc at Madrid as other examples of youngsters who got ample playing time because they were simply good enough. We aren't Arsenal please who just play young guys for the fantasy of it and end up with nothing. That's the key point here. These are even at clubs with no good policy regards young players like Madrid or Chelsea. Chelsea and Madrid have had other managers over the last 10 years; so can anyone tell me the young players those other managers have brought through? Anyone?
So why does Mourinho gets all the blame?

People need to wake up. Since the turn of the century we haven't produced a single world class player from our youth academy. This is fact. Rasford looks a terrific talent but to be frank he's more likely to fail than make it. This is realism again.

SAF in his latter years cared less about bringing folks from the youth academy and you know what? those periods coincided with the time of our greatest dominance with him and everyone thanks him for the trophies and everything.

Pep considered a genius, right? Dominated well at Barcelona even using some players from the youth academy along the way whom he turned into world beaters. The point here again is that these players were good enough, they were played and that's why they suceeded.

But now at Bayern his time is done. Can anyone show me this world class player he has brought through? Or why his policy regards these young folks wasn't as impressive as his time at Barcelona? undecided
Anyone?

People should wake up!

them work together for Barca,
although Jose level Don change now.

we should only play youth if the said academy player is good enough to keep his spot not just playing youth because we are Man Utd the stakes, too high for mumu decisions.
To be frank, I'm really irritated by these "bringing through youth" tag some use as beating stick for a manager like Jose while others use to praise LVG's tenure here.
People should get their priorities right and be reasonable as much as possible. I mean everything is so clear. We've been mediocre for about 3 years now and it's no joke, and it doesn't seem the slide has been arrested. Getting back to winning is the most important thing right now, and Mourinho offers the greatest chance at that.

I love good debates and could dispel some myths or end some illogic being peddled but i don't even see the need right now.
All tags like "he doesn't play youth", '' his bad behavior/antics'', " he doesn't last more than 3 years'' , "boring football" etc are all extremely pointless and useless as they can get.

It doesn't matter if a manager is without those tags. Without the wins, you are nothing. Please when we get back to winning ways, then we can trash out the rest.

The most important thing ever to United has always been winning. Winning through whatever means; yes I said it, and I mean every bit of it. Bringing through youth while doing it, or playing attacking football etc are simply bonuses we've come to enjoy. That's realism.

Like I said earlier, I enjoy good debates but if you disagree with the above, then I don't even fancy trying to convince you. It depends; I might try though.

Do you know what players were in the Barcelona team LVG almost relegated before he got sacked? undecided

Crying wetin? We won the Fa cup already.
No manager would have managed to win anything with that pathetic midfield of ours and lack of quality strikers.
On the other hand, Mourinho managed to almost relegate his teams consisting of quality players like Hazard, Fabregas, Costa and Matic who would seamlessly slot into our team.
I would really loves how he revamp our midfield and move out Rooney because he's always been lucky with quality midfield in every club he took over. For example, Alonso at Madrid, Deco at Porto, David luiz who was a solid holding midfielder under Benitez and got deployed in the same role under Mourinho. Or even Oscar who was quality under many Benitez before Mourinho came.
He's also been lucky with quality midfielder that suddenly became available like Sneidjer, fabregas and Ozil (after his worldcup performances).
However, there are no quality midfield available on the market right now and our midfield isn't a quality he could work with.
Eventually, we would see who's the fraud.
So how is it Mourinho fault that LVG failed to get good midfielders you think we needed? And now you are claming that Mourinho has always had good midfielders because he was lucky to sign them when they are available?

You are a disgraceful lunatic, and there's no redemption for you!
