That's insane cash for one midfielder. Why not add some more & target Messi?
Perhaps Mouthinho want to tackle the issue of height & being bullied in the air by the likes of West Ham.
Smalling, Fellaini, Bailly, Jones, Zlatan, Pogba these are above average height in the sport.
Messi is never leaving Barcelona especially to United. We are used to paying premium for average players, I don't mind overpaying for Pogba. He's class.
Fellini, Jones are no starters. Even Smalling isn't guaranteed a place because I won't be suprised to see Jose bring in another defender.
codedguy1:
Na true oo Mourinho no go send how the guy was let go all he wants is a player that would help him achieve what he wants regardless of the money.
And Pogba coming to OT means he misses CL football that again fit affect price.
But the amount too much sha. Wetin?
shocked
It depends on how pull Mourinho has( at least far better than LVG's) and if he can sell the project to Pogba. We might not get Pogba but we are a far more attractive destination now for players than we've or would have been under LVG. If Jose pulls this one even at any price, it's gonna be a massive coup given that Madrid are so interested and Zidane actually wants him.
SIRcumalot:
I no even reason go that angle.
I guess the price dey alright then.
I will rather we overpay for a player at the very beginning of his prime.
than some mid level tier player like Herrera them.
Exactly and I don't think he's gonna cost as much people think. Let's say he costs so much, I can see us selling him again at a very good price after 3-4 years. He's already world class and hasn't even entered the prime years of his career so he can only get better.

Lahm vs Alves....... Lahm everyday of the week and twice at the weekend.

A right back should be able to join in the attack whilst not negletting his principal Duty....DEFENDING!. And that's where Lahm clearly separates himself from Danny boy.
Alves was very good defending at his best, even when he was extraordinary at attacking. Stop propagating this myth.

What's your opinion on Alves vs Lahm?

Cause there is no way a Barca fan would pick Lahm over Alves, vice versa.
I don't know exactly you're asking of me but I would tell you want I think.

Alves had an higher peak than Lahm IMO. At his best he was a simply an attacking force of nature too difficult to ignore and his defending was also decent enough contrary to what a lot of folks think; I find it ridiculous when they label Alves poor defensively because he's so good at attacking; he has gotten worse in his latter years though because he fails to track back consistently. Lahm however destroys him on consistency or longetivity in excellent performances. Lahm is one of the cleanest tacklers of the ball and I think he had a very good record like that regards booking for so long.

Alves never matched the performances of Lahm on the international stage, and some may argue he greatly benefited from Barcelona's system. This argument too is flawed because I remember Alves standing out in his previous team Sevilla. Lahm can also be considered the more versatile player and the more intelligent one. He has had very good performances even in midfield.

Who is the better player among them is down to a lot, even more than what I've stated so I hope you guys figure it out yourselves. My business here is limited.

Dani alves was d 15th in ballon d'or ranking in 2007
And if we are to judge by your logic, Neymar shud b better than ibrahimovic because neymar has ranked 3rd in ballon d'or ranking and ibra hasn't
Wasn't Neymar been better than Ibrahimovic at that point in time?
This example is a wrong one, find some other to give.

I think we bid a bigger sum for Varane but it was rejected. Varane isn't exactly world class yet either, in fact far enough from it currently and would never be worth the silly price Madrid would want for him. I'm perfectly fine with this signing at the reported price.

so you never liked how we kept scholes and giggs way past their expiration date?
all teams have their own bad contracts or just got rid of one.
The point you are trying to make here is wrong. Playing Scholes so long and shoehorning Giggs in midfield are some of the terrible acts by SAF in his latter days which did us more harm than good. It's on record we didn't sign a single midfield player for over 6 years. That decision is still costing us even till now.
You're not going to like this,Rooney means to UTd fans what Messi and Cr7 means to both their teans, and those two will soon sign extensions that we take them way past their prime.
we can't always pull a "Chelsea"and let our legends(except it is their choice)walk,It is a classless move (exceptions dey as always) and I think Chelsea extending Terry's contract is because dem Don learn their lesson.
You are going overboard here again. You cannot compared the level of performances Ronaldo or Messi were bringing or are still bringing to their respective teams. We are talking very elite level of players and Ballon d'or winners not some fraudulent English player in Wayne. We have never won the league title with Rooney as leading scorer, never, I repeat never. We have been very close in one instance but people like to delude themselves thinking Wayne is on the same level of those players when clearly he's not. He's best at support those elite players and hardly ever good enough to lead the line as the main man and never would be.
This United and classless reference is bullsh1t also. In England, United is the most hated club and for good reasons too. People were laughing and labeled us clueless when we stuck with LVG but the same silly folks said we lack class when we dismissed him. It's a relationship of falsehood created for different intents. No big club has class, not even United.
Rooney has himself to blame here. I know of two significant events that made him lose some support from United folks and changed the way we saw him; when he wanted a new contract and held us hostage, and when he threatened to leave us or asked to be sold to rivals like City claiming we aren't ambitious enough( fine here, he might have had a point.) But obviously these aren't actions accrued to a legend, these are potent acts of a mercenary. Rooney is no legend; He's a bloody mercenary! Now the mercenary relationship should be quite simple. You deliver, and you get paid your worth. When Rooney was delivering, he was getting his money. Now is Rooney delivering? Why should we hold on to him when we're paying him big time and he's not delivering? Aren't we better off finding ourselves another mercenary?
Why do you think there are calls for him to get sold and the China links?
We saw how eventually Real Madrid treated Casillas or how Barcelona phased out Xavi. Those guys possess more legendary status than Rooney would ever get at United and they weren't even on bumper contracts like Rooney. Bayern didn't have any problem selling us their legend in Schweinsteiger when they realized he wasn't good enough anymore. Rooney can feck off!
In fact being United's top scorer soon isn't gonna change the way people view Rooney. United has done far more for Rooney than he'll would ever do for us compared to folks like Giggs or Scholes. Please stop this nonsense of Rooney being our legend. We have enough of those already.

GBR1, there are questions you don't need to ask Elampiro, coz you already know what would be the answer. There's no way on earth Elamp would have given you anything else apart from what he typed about Rooney. That's Rooney's no. 1 fan, so expect such replies from him.

As for England, all I know is that if Rooney is not benched and Vardy/Kane partnership preferred in the attack, England MUST flop. It's a no-brainer!! I've read over 4 editorials lambasting Roy for trying to squeeze in Rooney between Kane and Vardy and causing England more harm than good. Same fate awaits Mourinho, sadly. If Mourinho adopts Roy's and van Goat's policy of Rooney must play, I swear on my balls that United would suffer massive defeats next season!! This is the time I wish Rooney can cop 6 months injury a week before EPL starts, so I won't bother seeing him anywhere near my bench. I wonder if Barca had held unto Ronaldinho, what would have been their fate by now. Maybe Liverfools will still hold on to Fowler. Maybe United will recall Scholes just coz he's legend. Nonsense!! Rooney has got to go as long as United is concerned, he can still remain with England, I give no fùck about them.
Elampiro is one strange fellow. His undying loyalty to Rooney is one I still can't fully comprehend. I could care less though but i can't because Rooney is still a United player. Rooney's best position is as a forward or striker but it's beyond obvious he's isn't good enough to play in there any longer. Trying to shoehorn him anywhere else is always going to cost us one way or the other and that's why i can't wait to see the back of him. He once threatened to leave to even our rivals claiming we weren't ambitious enough and he also has held us by the balls numerous times when he was trying to get a new contract; He deserves no special status or extraordinary loyalty besides what he's been getting. He must be moved on from, and the sooner the better.

elampiro:
Rooney scored within 10 minutes on coming on for England the first time since his return from injury. Where Vardy, Kane, etc had scored one goal in 90 minutes, they were seen as gods. But Rooney, the man with nine lives always outliving England strikers since forever, came and scored in just 10 minutes. If he werent selfless, he could have scored two.
I didn't ask you for this. My post was regards the previous match. You did well to earn your reputation by coming on to gloat after Rooney's had a good a match with England and it's only fair I return the favour as I'm doing currently.
In the last match, the coach went for 3 strikers all playing in the entire attack as front three. What do you expect? Rooney is England highest goal scorer in the last three or four qualifiers, don't rubbish him. He paired Kane in about 4 to 5 matches and Rooney always outshone Kane, except in one occasion.
Here's the problem. Always having to fit Rooney in somehow. Sometimes it might work and may not. How do you play 3 strikers as a front 3? Especially Kane who appeared to be completely wasted on the wings?
England actually doesn't have any true wide players besides Sterling who is average at best.
Let Hodgson do the tactics, not you who have not been following. Although Rooney might be substituted this time around. He is not going to get 90 mins all through. But he is still their king, followed by Sterling.
So you think Hogson is a very bright chap? Even the English folks would stone you for this comment. What King? You mean the white Pele title? It's quite different when you have the actual Pele regarded as King in Brazil and all over the footballing world and when you have a fraud like Wayne as King. One was leading his country to World Cup wins, the other cannot help his country win even a spoon.

It's no surprise England hasn't won any major tournament in a long time. Over reliance on players like Rooney is not gonna get them anywhere.

dubylhover:
not just you bro,a large part f me feels wrong abt d signing...I hope im wrong tho
I know he's coming off his best season ever but I really doubt he would replicate such level of performance in the PL. There's a significant difference in quality between the PL and the ligue Un and the team he played for again, was a cut far above the rest so his job was considerably easier. He has had a poor record against English opposition in the CL and that's also worrying. He doesn't appear to have declined that much even at 34 but I feel when the decline sets in, it would be rapid and overwhelming. I think we have enough old and slow players already;Bastian, Carrick, Rooney etc and I don't want another. There are other issues as well I would discuss as we move on...
I'm certain it's a big risk in general but there are some positives and maybe that's why it's one too good not to take.
