sambas: Onitsha (Anambra) – Dr Tim Anosike, the President of OnitshaChamber of Commerce, on Fridaywarned that the Niger Bridge might collapse sooner than envisaged by its designers and engineers. He made the observation when he spoke in Onitsha, Anambra.Anosike said that the bridge was being overburdened by the daily traffic gridlocks and had to carry tens of trucks with goods of thousands tonnage each day.He said that the commencement of the second Niger Bridge was overdue considering the increasein vehicular movement on the bridge in the past five years.“This chamber will never cease crying to the Federal Governmentuntil the construction of the second Niger Bridge is achieved.“Without this project, the entire life and economic activities of thepeople in this part of our countryare hanging on the balance as the existing bridge can collapse sooner than envisaged.“We have thought that the criticalnature of the project is not something to toy with.“But very sadly, it has become a strategic weapon for political campaign in the hands of our politicians since time immemorial,’’ he said. The Federal Government had awarded the construction of the bridge to Julius Berger, but work is yet to start. (NAN)We can't sit and watch this bridge collapse Anything to save it How can Amosun be building over five bridges and neglecting the Niger Bridge? How can Fashola build the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge among others he's built and not look in the direction of the Niger? Wickedness at its peak |
I think Amosun and Fashola better act fast Afterall people that cross the bridge every Christmas pay their taxes in Lagos and Ogun #Team2NB |
After the Presidential pardon, the Supreme Court will say the never committed a crime Tomorrow, another commission will award billions of Naira in damages because they 'suffered' for a crime they didn't commit Hmmm |
solomon111: Look at this idiott. If Lagos isn't part of the SW, then where is it? SE? Now tell us Kano is not in the NW because a lot of Igbos live there And you called someone an idiott while the trait is all over your post |
If kidnapping in one region is taken away, Nigeria may drop to the 20th position |
Okay now this is what we call massive and not some backyard garden farm some people posted in what was left of their eroded soil last week Fashola level developing your land Other SW governors will do the same Others can hate but we no dey look Uche face |
ngozievergreen: - Tell me the region of the country that has the highest concentration of indigenous industries if not SE.KFC = Kentucky Fried Chicken and not Kelechi Fried Chips Even if they just opened one in Polo Park, its coming after three in Ibadan Let's see how Enugu people will keep the business open amidst the poverty in the region |
NO LONG TIN: I dey laugh in Spanish! No they are not Ogun but Abia pictures Believe them now? |
FreeGlobe: LMAOOO. SHOPRITE IBADAN! HAHADespite the 'low' patronage, they opened a second outlet in Ibadan in less than six months And despite the 'high' patronage in the whole of the SE, they still have only one outlet more than two years after Shoprite must be very stupid and you're smart. Oya clap for yourself |
ngozievergreen: SE govts have low taxation culture.Low taxes should be an incentive for industries which the SE lacks More and more corporations are opening in Ogun, Oyo and Osun further driving the IGRs in those states Abeg one question before I forget How come Enugu and the whole of the SE have only one Shoprite outlet more than two years after it was opened and Ibadan already has two less than six months after one was opened? I also wanna know why KFC hasn't opened any outlet in the SE despite opening one, two, three in Ibadan Is it that S'Easterners don't eat chickens and can't shop or the poverty rate is so high that people can't afford to sustain these businesses? I believe the latter is true. Why also does Slot, owned by an Igbo man have branches all over Yorubaland, including Akure, Oshogbo, Ilorin, Sango Ota, Ife and 'poor' Ado-Ekiti with only one in the SE which is in Enugu? Of course he knows his kinsmen can't afford most of the phones he sells.

6,000 HECTARES CASSAVA FARM UNDERWAY IN OGUN The Ogun State Government has taken yet another step to increase cassava production in the State as it is collaborating with the Federal Government to establish a 6,000-hectare semi-mechanised cassava farm at Ijebu Igbo in Ijebu North Local Government Area of the State. Commissioner of Agriculture, Mrs. Ronke Sokefun who disclosed this in an interview recalled that already, the State had embarked on a 10- hectare cassava multiplication project where high yielding stem had been planted and would soon be distributed to farmers across the State. Sokefun said while the State government is providing land and clearing equipment for the project, the Federal Government which had already constructed the road leading to the site would provide cassava stems to be planted there. The Commissioner also disclosed that as it was planned for the rice plantation in Eggua in Yewa North Local Government, a cassava processing plant would be located close to the plantation to help process harvested cassava into finished or semi-finished products, saying the gesture would enhance price and the living condition of farmers. Meanwhile, Sokefun said work at the ‘Green House Project’ to provide a controlled environment for the production of tomatoes, cucumber and green pepper in Kotopo and the Farmers Market in Asero had reached advanced stages. The two projects according to her, are to be commissioned by Governor Ibikunle Amosun next month. |
For some reason, I'm provided with armed escorts whenever I travel around the SE, SS and understandably the North I've not experienced any incidence but I've always been told to be cautious in those areas Isn't it also amazing that 99% of crimes in the SE are committed by people from the region while up to 60% of crimes in the SW are committed by people from the SE as well These are not made up facts |

ifechez: you are a cow, a big one at that. list the so called yorobar wack writers let's see. is it by making mouth? u used an unknown basement oil soup writer to compare a world renowned beautiful AdaAda like Amanda. ewu yorobar!!!!!How does this your ranting change the fact that Ogun's IGR is more than double Abia's which is the highest in the SE? How does it change the fact that Osun has a higher IGR than Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra and Imo? How does it change the fact that Ekiti has a higher IGR than Enugu? |
superstar1: Ondo too is ok. Only Ekiti is lagging behind. I hope their official Cbn record for 2012 will be better. That's why I think Fayemi needs to shape up His budget for 2014 is higher than that of Enugu but Enugu has a higher CAPEX I'm not impressed with Fayemi |
Lagos, Ogun, Osun and Oyo are unarguably very viable Their IGRs are a function of increased economic activity in those states This must really get some people worried Osun's IGR is almost twice that of Enugu and higher than Anambra's. If Osun was in the SE, it will be the second largest economy and Oyo will be by far the biggest if it was in the zone with almost N6bn ahead The northern states of Kano and Kaduna are surprisingly impressive |
A university built with cocoa proceeds but which oil money can't maintain ![]() |
@OP, you must provide a credible source However, the rate at which Obi started splashing money about just before the elections is curious It may be a way of settling political affiliates or enriching himself for life outside Government House Whatever it is, time will tell |
If he wasn't caught, he would have been home this December claiming to be a successful business tycoon and in the league of those that control the economy of Lagos |
Impressive OBJ |
I think this should be part of the national conference and should be subjected to a referendum Any region that wants to opt out of the federation should be allowed to do so |
What's massive about this? I was hoping to see acres of farmlands and miles of ranches with animals grazing And behold they present us a backyard garden |
The question is - did Tambuwal lie? Its unfortunate Abati made this statement. Very unfortunate |
Lord have mercy! Just when you think you've seen the worst, you're left dazed ![]() And this apparently excludes the 10% that is allegedly stolen daily |
One of the key ingredients required to attract and sustain viable investment is security Ogbeni on point |
No matter what side of the fence you are on, you must give it to BRF He's a performer Except you drive around the streets of Lagos blindfolded, you can't claim not to have seen at least one impressive thing he's done everywhere you go |
Sometimes, beyond the office, the personality determines the extent of your influence If BRF was president, I'm not sure any serious nation would snub him like this He's ruthlessly intelligent and aptly presidential |
Afam4eva: I can bet my blokos that the real thing cannot be like what's in the render. No be Naija we dey again? Anyways, it's a good development sha.As with everything good happening in the SW, I know this is hurting you But guess what Your heartaches are far from over because you ain't seen nothing yet |
