And I hope ppl trying to justify this rude behavior are not d same ppl that will shout 'racism' if this happens to a Nigerian artist in another country.
Must we show our 'animistic' behavior in everything? I just pity the way most of us reason. It just shows why we are still where we are as a nation.
can you Imagine?  peeps are actually trying to justify uncivilized behavior.  Some claim he's a washed up artist, Nigerians dont understand reggae etc
But yet most of our contemporary Nigerian artist are influenced by reggae. Yes! go back and listen to Duncan Mighty, Wiz Kid, 2face, Nneka, General Pype, M.I there
are tinges of reggae influences in their songs. Luciano may not have had a hit song in a while but neither has Beenie Man, Sean Paul, Shaggy etc but we still enjoy there music.

I play naija music to a lot of my Jamaican friends I play soccer with and they love it, they also enjoy our movies.  Show some respect to art and comport yourself in public we
are better than this.  Stop making excuses cause u sound LAME.

Did this really happen in PH? i mean come on!  this is unreal.  if u were involved in this melee then clap for yourself for a fine display of crass behavior.

did these peeps in PH for once imagine what if a Nigerian artist was welcomed in the same manner in Jamaica.  Luciano is a positive, conscious reggae artist, if
you don't like the music why not just leave. smh

Written by Chukwudi Akasike

JAMAICAN reggae icon, Luciano, was on Saturday night pelted with empty water bottles by some youths that attended the closing of the 2011 Rivers State Carnival popularly known as CARNIRIV at the Liberation Stadium.

Luciano, whose real name is Jepther McClymont, was invited by the consultant handling this year’s cultural festival as the star artiste to perform at the event.

Though the music fans, who streamed to the stadium, had earlier been entertained by some Nigerian artistes that included Ras Kimono, Maleke and I Go Save, a few of them were, however, not comfortable with Luciano’s reggae music.

Not ready to listen to the lyrics and rhythm of the Jamaican-born reggae idol, they resorted to throwing empty water bottles at him.

Luciano, who was shocked at the hostile attitude of the crowd, asked, "What is happening? You don’t want me? I was told that CARNIRIV is an event to showcase African Culture and that is why I am here for you.

"I am a messenger of God; don’t you want the message. I was in Ethiopia, they (Ethiopians) received me. I was in Gambia, they received me. Why won’t you receive your brother?"

The reggae maestro immediately sang his popular track, One way Ticket to Africa, to appease the crowd. But those who appeared not to be in love with the Luciano’s reggae genre of music continued to pelt him with objects.

He eventually left the stage after the rendition of another track, Sweep Over My Soul, before the Nigeria twin artistes, P-Square, were welcomed to the stage with an ovation.

So in order words, by feeding hungry school kids, living standards will be raisedhuh?

I wasnt born in the 60s or 70s, but I do know that living standards were higher, and definitely NOT because free meals, milk and shakes were daily given to the kids. Besides, the population at that time is a far cry from what we have now.
there are tons of research on this already, kids need to eat for their brain to develop, even better if you give them "proper" nutrition.

Free Meal For Lagos Pupils

Pupils in Lagos public primary schools will be entitled to free meals during school periods beginning from next year.

Governor Fashola

This disclosure was made by the Special Adviser to Governor Babatunde Fashola on Public Health, Dr. Yewande Adeshina, while addressing members of the state House of Assembly yesterday.

Dr. Adeshina said the state government was working on the possibility collaborating with private organisations to bring this to fruition.

“We are working to create an atmosphere where primary school children, from primary one to six, will have access to a meal during the school periods, Monday through Friday.

“We are working in collaboration with some food companies, international partners and we are looking at whether to use the option of pre-package or to use vendors to serve them rice, beans and fried plantain on regular basis under the public-private partnership scheme at that level,” she said, adding that her office had made serious progress on the project.

She said the government is also planning the school clinic projects which would be located in schools. “We are working on a population control policy since the state is having challenges catering for the increasing population.

“We are still trying to figure out whether we should stop catering for families that have more than four children so that they will have to pay for the fifth one. In this case, we may be able to discourage indiscriminate breeding in the state,” she told the lawmakers.

She said the move was to stem the spate of hunger among the school children as it has been observed that children cannot cope with studies when they are hungry.

She noted with dismay that despite the knowledge that hawking of drug is an offence, it has continued within the state. To stem the activities, she said her office had secured the permission of the state governor to establish mobile courts which will try offenders of drug hawking and those selling drugs not meant to be sold.

The Special Adviser, who also used the opportunity to solicit for finance for the various projects she listed for 2012, said the public healthcare revitalisation scheme which is being embarked upon by the state government will gulp N3.7 billion.

According to her, the scheme involves the selection of a primary health centre in each local government and local council development area to be fitted to run for 24 hours and to have about 56 staff each, including three doctors. There will also be a pharmacy, a pharmacists and three pharmacy technologists, a laboratory scientist and three laboratory technologists, 10 nurses and midwives each.

She said her office had done a system audit to know the centres that needed more facilities.

Obviously, participation of local food vendors will aid the local economy so its unnecessary to bring in international partners.  Not to mention thousands of caterers who are experienced at feeding all those owambes soirees every wkd in Lagos.

Not sure if we should be feeding the young ones fried plantains though, if they want kids to stay alert then they should consider a healthier nutritious option served in a box.  I would recommend sandwiches, vegetables and a side options {baked beans, potatoes}.

dembele is a wonderful player! he should be playing in the big teams.
his hold up play, usage of the ball and general awareness is world class.

imagine if arsenal had him today playing behind van persie!
i doubt he even broke a sweat today, the entire 90mins he handled the game effortlessly.

Glad to see diaby back tho, perhaps he can borrow a leaf from RVP and turn it on this season.

1. dont choose a candidate based on tribal sentiment
2. question the pedigree of all candidates i.e what have you accomplished before vying for presidency?
3. avoid a candidate that refuses to debate and even worse opts to debate himself huh lipsrsealed
4. know your candidates position on a wide range of issues that will effect society as a whole.

Arsene got todays lineup all wrong. Park will flourish with better experienced and intelligent players like Arshavin and Benayoun/Rosicky around him, when you start to add Ramsey and Theo to that equation you get a watered down solution. undecided
Once again Ramsey was crap today, is the same ol story with dude, i personally want to smack the taste out of his mouth if he does another back heel pass.

Our defenders looked solid and its great to have Verm back.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread (the Night Is Darkest Just Before The Dawn) by Gekko(m): 4:21am On Nov 01, 2011
Yep, Ramsey had far more negatives than positives.  Like previous games, Ramsey gives the ball away too often, he is over elaborate on the ball, hesitates to pick a pass, and gets knocked off the ball easily.  For the most part Ramsey seems to be the driver in Arsenals midfield engine room and i'm not inspired about him 'driving us anywhere.  Ben, Rosicky or even Diaby would be a far better option till Wilshere gets back.
