Don't be deceived by what Satan inspires atheists to say. They are inwardly miserable. They are uncertain about their beginning and what will become of them eventually.

I would also like you to answer some questions for me.

why is it that when it comes to prayers you must go sraight to Jesus ,since he is the only mediator between God and man ,but when tithes and offering are involved you are free to go through your pastor to Jesus?

also since Jesus died for our sins and paid the price for our  salvation ,why do we still need to pay tithes to obtain salvation and prosperity?

Also since you practice sola scripture (which is actually unbiblical) wy do you beleive your pastors when he tells you God spoke to him even when it is not in the bible?

Chukwudi, if the passage you cited as the basis of the "purgatory" doctrine  is what the entire Catholic church upholds, then  everyone in that cult is FATALLY deluded.

Here is the passage in full:

"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water." (1 Peter 3:18-20).

The scripture makes SPECIFIC reference to a set of "people" here - those who were destroyed in the days of Noah!!! Does it mention those who were destroyed in Sodom and Gomorrah? Does it mention those who died in rebellion in the wilderness? Does it mention all other groups of people who disobeyed God and perished? NO. It mentions only those who were destroyed in the days of Noah. How come you've been brainwashed to think that it applies to ALL who died in ungodliness in the Bible days and that it will still happen again? Any biblical basis for that? Did Christ say anything like that was going to happen when he taught about what would happen at the end of the world? Did any of the apostles prophesy it? Did John the Revelator, whose eyes God opened to see the events that would take place at the coming of Christ and after it, mention anything like it? What's wrong with you people that you often allow your leaders to pick a verse of the Bible, interpret it out of context and mislead you with it? (Remember the "Hail Mary" salute too? How it is being used as the basis for praying "honouring" and praying through Mary!!!). What do you mean by going through my Pastor to Jesus? I have no need for that. If I need to give towards God's work, I do it willingly and cheerfully, whether my Pastor knows it or not

You're also misled on the issue of paying for salvation. Money or any other thing that is given in church is not given for salvation. Contributions are made in church to help the needy and to advance God's work

I understand where you're coming from but when the information is true,we need to ask ourselves some hard questions.

We bring criminals too book here too, don't we? The fact that evil continues in some segments of the society doesn't mean the society supports evil. Even though they punish criminals in their societies as you mentioned, the atrocities continue everyday, in dimensions that may be different but no less alarming than ours!

And as I said earlier, we need to look into the issues raised in the article. I was appalled one day when I signed in to MSN and saw a bold headline on MSN TODAY. Guess what it said? "10 MOST DANGEROUS CITIES IN THE WORLD" and it listed Lagos as No. 1. To emphasise the point, a picture of the typical rowdy environment of Old Oshodi (before Fashola cleared up the place) was attached to the story. And, if I remember clearly, that was after the massive "clean-up" had begun. Now, let's even assume Oshodi was still the way it was, does that make the WHOLE OF LAGOS, a dangerous place to visit? Were there no better places in Lagos the reporter could have visited to get an objective view of the city? He simply chose the one that would perfectly reinforce the skewed perception of the people that sent him and it worked!

Here we are, acting like zombies and dummies. Has it not occurred to you that the western media will NEVER see anything good to publish about Africans? And instead of us to tell them to deal with the numerous anomalies plaguing their societies - paedophiles roaming about the streets, young boys going on shooting and stabbing spree, young women drinking themselves to stupor and collapsing on the streets, celebrities who're anti-undies but pro-drugs, couples who marry today and divorce tomorrow, beastly fathers and mothers who imprison their own children in cellars and perform sex acts on them etc - we keep allowing them to brainwash us. Have they rid their society of all the atrocities being perpetrated right under their noses on DAILY basis? So why won't they leave africans alone to deal with their own problems?

I am not saying what is being done to the young girls is excusable. The practice is worth decrying and denouncing. But you should ask yourself why the western media never sees anything good to say about Africa. Have you ever seen the picture of a healthy african child on their TV programmes? No way. It's ALWAYS the picture of a malnourished, maltreated child. Does it mean all that happens here is nothing but savagery and barbarism?

1.which is genuine in baptism,infant baptism or water immersion and would also want to know the differences.
2.some churches dont pierce the ear of their female kids and those that pierce dont wear ear rings including the adult ones,so i want to know if its wrong to wear ear rings or not and scriptures to support its usage or not.
3.In some churches they use on-speaker to disturb others while in a passage in the bible is said that one should not disturbs another with your prayers,so what do you think is causing this?

All these are just some of what i have observed in the pentecostal churches.I was born into the Christ Apostolic Church,and their services were real good and ok,but now they are already following the path of the pentecostals.pls your candid contribution is welcomed.

1) How many Pentecostals perform infant baptism? And if you've read your Bible, you wouldn't have problem knowing the "genuine" one. On all the occasions where baptism was performed, how was it done?

2) Whether they pierce their ears and wear earrings or not should not be anyone's palaver. You should be able to distinguish between the BASICS of Christian discipleship and the "disputable matters" (See Romans 14). The BASICS are the non-negotiable matters e.g the necessity of being born again, living a consistent holy life and worshipping God in truth and in Spirit. The disputable matters are matters that concern an individual/group that may not necessarily be applied to everyone in Christendom. This is where the issue of earrings,  Christmas/New Year celebration, watching TV etc come in. Some people may avoid these things, not necessarily because they are sinful but because the individuals feel such are not important for them. And their opinion should be respected, since the things they're avoiding do not hamper their relationship with God. People who make much fuss either to defend or oppose these things are the ones who need to be enlightened.

3) Cite the EXACT passage, please. If you're not sure of a particular verse of the Scripture, study your Bible further, till you get what you need. This is RELIGION forum!

4) I would add this to the "disputable matters." Except you have a credible proof that it detracts from the quality of their Christian profession and lifestyle, let them be!

By the way, I don't think you need to attend a certain church before you can be delivered. Every true child of God is a potential "deliverance minister." And if you become one, by receiving Jesus into your life, you're automatically given the power to "tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you." (Luke 10:19).

I don't know about you, buddy. But I have always believed it's MY life, and I'd live it the way I think it's most appropriate - of course, without sidelining God or hurting others (if avoidable). NO ONE decides what I do with it, just as I don't expect anyone to share in the consequences of MY decisions.

Brother decide what's good for you, seek God's guidance and TAKE YOUR STAND. Remember: it's YOUR life!

And I can stop wondering why some women/men are stingy with money in their marriages. Why would someone want to keep their earnings away from their partner? If two become one in marriage, shouldn't their finances become "one" too?

No need to take cover, Joke. You made good observations. The Catholics were NOT the ones who made the Bible available to us as some would have us believe. In fact, just as you said, their leaders were actually preventing the laity and every one else from having access to the Scriptures. One of the ways this was done was restraining it from being translated to popular languages. Anyone who dared it was labelled a heretic and burnt at the stake. Why? Because allowing general access to the Scriptures would expose the hypocrisy of the religious leaders who constantly misinterpreted the Scriptures for commercial and other personal reasons. (Read the Foxe's Book of Martyrs - and you'll be shocked at the numerous atrocities perpetrated by these people)

Thank God for the great men and women of old who, despite various attempts by the false teachers to destroy and discredit them, refused to be deterred and secretly translated and distributed the Bible for the masses to read!

Keep it for herself, parents and siblings and occasionally support her husband or combine her earnings with her husband's to cater for the immediate family?

A woman raised the alarm, sometime ago, accusing her husband of asking her to share in the household expenses (even though he was to bear the greater burden). I was shocked because I thought marriage was supposed to be a partnership where things were shared/done together for mutual benefits.

Actually, it bothers me that some people in this modern world - even educated ones - still bring tribalism into the issue of love and dating. Should relationship be about the tribe a person comes from or the person himself/herself?

On Monday, Oprah talked to the men and women who occupy these different roles in the drama of domestic violence.

Take it Like a Man

The stories we heard from abused men are no less horrifying than those told by women. They were kicked, hit, stabbed, pushed down stairs and through plate glass doors. Like their female counterparts, the men often covered up for their wives, lying to doctors and authorities about the true cause of their injuries. As one man said, "I'm supposed to take it like a man." That often means not fighting back, not only because all the men on this show said they were raised not to hit women, but also because many police departments automatically consider the man the aggressor in cases of domestic abuse. Even when the woman is at fault.

The Cycle of Abuse

Likewise, abusive women sound very much like husbands who beat their wives. Lisa said the first time she battered her husband, "I beat the hell out of him… he walked away with bruises. I was so ashamed of myself. It's not that I didn't love him, it's that I didn't know how to react any other way… I know he's not going to do anything." Afterward, they apologize, they make up, and eventually, the cycle begins again.

Shut Up… And Listen

Claudia Dias has counseled abusive men and women for over twenty years. She criticizes the different ways domestic violence against men and women is viewed. "When a man hits a woman, it's abuse and felony. When she does it, it's because she has a bad temper." Claudia describes the cycles of domestic abuse as "a dance… it doesn't matter which gender does which part." The major difference, she says, is that men hit women to "make them shut up" whereas women hit men in order to "make them listen."

Walking on Eggshells

Rick kept his wife's abuse secret for 21 years before finally leaving her. At one point he was forced to defend himself with Mace. When the police were finally called, Rick was the one arrested. "I felt betrayed by the system… by the courts… and by my wife." Today, Rick has temporary custody of his children after his wife, angry because he returned them a few minutes late from a visitation, rammed his car with her vehicle while the children were still in it. Stephanie, their 14-year-old daughter, says her mother would often rage at the children as well, and that life at home was like "walking on eggshells"

Changing Your Children

By witnessing their parents' battles, children grow up believing that a normal family life is one defined by a cycle of fear, violence and tearful apologies. In turn, that begins another cycle, one that passes the legacy violence down from parent to child. As Oprah told Lisa, who believed her children were "very well adjusted" despite the violence they'd witnessed from her, "There's no question that when you argue in front of children, you change their self-esteem… in way that you will never know and they can't tell you." Obviously, both parents can be part of the problem in cases of domestic violence. And both can also be part of the solution.
