You're one of the reasons buhari called youths lazy. You even mentioned equipping of library with ASUU half salary. With this alone, I conclude you didn't know Jack, on why they embarked on that strike in the first place. Students welfare contributed over 60% of the reason they went on strike, including the equipping of the library you ignorantly mentioned.

If you were owed piled upn arrears in your workplace and.your employer keeps saying he'd fulfill his promise and years later, the situation remained same, what wouid you do to get your owed salary? Be sincere. That's what ASUU had done. It's not only the failed government of the day, which you're defending that were culpable in the reneged promises, past pdp governments, some of whom are now members of the apc today also caused the mess. That's why we're sending both parties off next year Feb. They've done Nigeria to many bad than good. That over 100bn stolen by that accountant-general alone could have gone some way in addressing part of the ASUU demands. Na so so corruption this government sabi. They're not interested in the Nigerian future.
No need for all this your nonsense long story.

ASUU went on strike because they wanted 180% increment in their salaries.

Their strike was totally for their own selfish interest.

If you believed otherwise, or you believe ASUU when they mention all those university revitalization and IPPIS matters, then you need your sense of reasoning to be checked.

This strike for nor reach 8 months if no be Ngige cause am. Ngige is not a good negotiator.
For your information, Governor Chris Ngige is one of the baddest negotiators on the planet right now.

Ngige is the type of person you need on your team if you are serious about striking a solid deal in any negotiation.

ASUU has been taking everyone for a ride since ages because only ASUU benefits from their strike while everyone else including the students, the parents, the government, the small scale business operators in the university town, etc, counts their loss.

But thanks to Governor Chris Ngige's SMARTNESS and tenacity, ASUU has been completely demystified, exposed and castrated.

I share the same opinion with you on this.

I want the government to consider thier plight and pay them because if eventually they are paid, I will still benefit.

But...

ASUU should never see going to strike as their right.

Nothing will do them. They will be voting for Tinubu, not APC of Ngige. These characters will be relegated when Tinubu assumes office. He is doing Igbo agenda to destroy Tinubu's chance. Also same thing Emefiele is doing, even though I support his naira reform but he is not doing it in good faith. They believe Tinubu has money in stock and want to prevent vote buying which I also support. These Igbo agenda are targeted at Tinubu. Even Buhari doesn't want Tinubu, not for anything but bcs he is seen being too powerful. But all of them will lule including u that I'm quoting bcs I know u are a zombidient grin
Tinubu's old age and health status rendered him completely unfit for the top job.

If Ngige and Emefiele are following Buhari's orders, why do you still want to see things from your ethnic angle?

Nigeria is finished , the kind strike that ASUU will embark ehhh
Obviously, you are not aware that FG has now completely defeated ASUU when it comes to strike.

That no work no pay strategy is really a huge game changer.

ASUU can no longer just wake up and call for strike the way they have been doing before.

If ASUU now wants to go on strike, they will also have to make arrangements on how to pay their members during the strike because it is now clear that the government will no longer pay them for going on strike.
EducationRe: FG Begins Payment Of 8-month Salary Backlog To Breakaway ASUU Faction by GeneralBuhari: 6:22am On Nov 07, 2022
9jatriot:
What many people do not realize is that ASUU actually started their strike in 2020, then the government warn them of the no work no pay rule. FG had already began to implement the no work no pay rule, then COVID struck, and there was lock down, and FG had to pay all its staff (civil servants) their salary even though they could not go to work during that period.

So, during the COVID/strike, all ASUU members had to do was wait till the end of the month, go the bank on a day they were working (many of them were working half day), collect their salary and then wait for the next month. Free money.

Finally, COVID reduced and life was gradually returning to normal, then ASUU begin to release lyrics that they were planning to continue their 2020 strike
. So, February, 2022 they began their strike again. They notified the government that they were downing tools and that the strike was total (meaning, no research, no marking of script, no lecturing, no attendance). Once again, they were reminded that labor laws transfers payment of salaries during such strikes from the employers to the union. That meant that since members have been paying dues to ASUU, now was the time for ASUU to replicate and start paying their members while negotiations went on. ASUU went on with that understanding but believed as they usually do that they will have their way.

To cut all the long story short, ASUU refused to pay her members during the strike and as such many lecturers have been left completely broke, whereas ASUU leaders are the only ones who get paid by the union.
What many people do not know is that, when ASUU say they are holding congresses to discuss whether or not to go on strike, it is only a handful of members who make that decision and not the generality of members.

Finally, ASUU called off their strike sometime in October of 2022, so FG has now resumed payment of their salary from the day they started work. So, forget that story that ASUU was paid half salary, instead government only resumed paying them as soon as they started working again. The implication of this if it is applied to the letter is that ASUU which has been collecting dues from her members, now owes them a salary of 8 and a half months.

The benefit of this arrangement are as follows:
1. Parent/students, FG and ASUU, everybody now loses. In the previous arrangement where they get paid for going on strike. Parent/students lose in terms of time, house rent, some even lose their sponsors. FG loses in terms of public opinion and goodwill as well as pay for no work done whereas ASUU was the only one that does not lose since they collect money for no work. Now, all parties lose.
2. If ASUU had succeeded with this strike, just know that there would have been more strikes loading, but right now many unions are very cautious
3. FG will now be obligated to try and be in the good books of the masses and will try to invest more in education but it won't be because of blackmail. Investment in education will now be more wholistic and cater also for primary and secondary, rather than ASUU wanting to corner everything all the time.

Hopefully, all parties would have learned their lessons
Point of correction, ASUU went on strike in 2020 because of their refusal to register into IPPIS.

The ASUU members who registered and even those who later went to register into IPPIS were all being paid during the 2020 ASUU strike.
