rvp2018: Actually, if I consider the entire security sector - Kenya outspend Nigeria. KDF Kenya Police Services - regular police & paramilitary & CID NIS Interior ministry - Kenya right to village has ass chief, chief, DO, DC, Ass Chief. Prisons Then we add Forest guards, Wildlife guards.
If I sum up the budget - it will dwarf Nigeria - that is why Kenya is very secure - there is very little you can do in kenya without it being known.
😂😂 so Nigerian security budget is only that of federal spending on military. No internal or state security budget we can sum up. Clown 😄
rvp20182: Find yourself more credible source like your own budget...you spend about a trillion naira on your military...which is just 2.something billion..for 250k force..joke...huge joke..to match kenya you should spend 14 billion..
That's what our budget says if you have any other source to the contrary for 2022, then bring it here. We don't spend a trillion naira on defense. It's mischievous to say Kenya and Nigeria have thesame budget for defense.
rvp20182: Where is the lie..our military is just 25,000 strong and we spend that much..compared to your useless militia of 250 000 underpaid ill trained poorly equipped force..they cannot deal with internal issues.Your police force same problem. Underpaid under equipped useless. SPEND YOU MONEY WHERE IT MATTERS..EDUCATION..SECURITY..THEN BASIC INFRASTRUCTURE LIKE ELECTRICITY N ROADS N WATER. Who spend 12 billion in fuel susbidy..is everyone abnormal in the Zoo
Nigeria is not spending enough on military is way different from saying Kenya and Nigeria have thesame budget on military.
rvp20182: I have no pain but pity for Nigeria. How much do you spend on your military force of 250,000...about same kenya spend on 25,000.How much do you spend on intelligence..Kenya spend 400m dollars on 1,000 intelligence unit.Go to police...same story. How do you expect underpaid underequiped security without even health n life insurance to confront thugs. You spend all the money in stupid fuel subsidy.Yet spend nothing on electricity.
Keep repeating your falsehood if it makes you feel better.
rvp20182: I have no pain but pity for Nigeria. How much do you spend on your military force of 250,000...about same kenya spend on 25,000.How much do you spend on intelligence..Kenya spend 400m dollars on 1,000 intelligence unit.Go to police...same story.
Obaaderemi2: Kenya is battling for its life. They have no option but to keep borrowing. Only a fool would take Ruto seriously on his talk about shunning borrowing.
Ruto is subject to the IMF dictates. Not his fault. There was a review of their 38 month loan program from the IMF, to determine if Kenya deserves another loan or not.
Obaaderemi2: That's the logic behind the clamours for state policing. I live in the South West and I can categorically tell you that since the introduction of Amotekun, as ragtag as it is, incidences of such attacks have reduced. Not making a move to bring any perpetrator to book for such atrocities is what I have against Buhari. He is always unperturbed.
This is where state Governors have to come in. Tinubu at his peak then in year 2000 was able to reform ineffective operation Sweep in Lagos by establishing new guys in the form of RRS. The RRS are still one of the best and most organized police forces in Nigeria today.
Tinubu's successor Fashola took this a step further by establishing the Security Trust Fund.
Today, relative to population, Lagos is the most peaceful state in Nigeria. Why can't other states copy these models?
It has also been confirmed by various sources (no more a rumour) that the vast majority of the people disturbing the farmers and people in the North West and the plateau are foreigners from Niger and possibly Mali.
Obaaderemi2: Even if we strengthen local governments and the security outfits continue to look the other way when these atrocities occur, the militants would only grow more bold. Buhari fvcked up seriously on security and economy. He didn't show any hunger for success on anything meaningful in his 8 years. Thank God the olodo has less than a week to go.
Believe you me sincerely, Tinubu and all state Governors must as a matter of urgency ensure intelligence gathering and effective policing administered by the local Governments in all 774 local Government areas.
There must be synergy between all of them and the police/army. Trying to solve security of the entire Nigeria just from Abuja with IG of police based in Abuja is in my books a waste of time.
If Buhari failed in security, this is what I believe he has specifically failed to do. A security restructuring ( if something like that exist).
Jamestown123: With almost 70k killings under his watch, and still counting self. See the current massacre that's currently going on in mangu local government, plateau state. If God no judge bihari for this injustice against us, then it's not fair.
We have to strengthen local Governments. Many of these crises especially in Plateau and the North West have been going on especially since the Obasanjo era. We thank God now for social media that makes us feel the pain from other parts of Nigeria and know watz up.
Kazikazi: Do u know the value of Malaysian jendala optic fiberalization plan? Or Malaysia's high speed rail?
And Malaysian GDP is below 400b.
Dangote refinery is the biggest project in Africa, and it is below 19b if we count the cost of the single refinery without adding other projects as some Nigerians have said.
Can't u see how Africans are just behind on anything?
But these are just plans and talks by the Malaysians right? Or are they close to reality yet?
rvp20182: Monopolies that are SOEs..Safaricom was gov owned company by 60 percent..and now gov owns 35 percent. THERE DIFFERENCE BTW SUPPORTING NNP AND DANGOTE. Dangote money belong to him.NNP belong to all of you. DANGOTE has shown with cement that Nigerian economy won't benefit from him...infact as we speak Nigerian cement consumption is what 20m. Kenya is 10m metric tonnes..as kenya has more vibrant competitive cement industry. Before Dangote..Nigeria consumed 30-40m but Dangote locally manufactured cement is more expensive. Expect the same drill in refined fuel.Youll continue to sustain a few Nigeria billionaire as you become very poor.
You keep making this mistake. Dangote is not the only big player. Lafrage is very big and recently opened a very large cement plant in Nigeria.
BUA cement just keeps growing.
Dangote cement was 2500 naira for a long time until not long ago and the price varies across Nigeria. Some cement prices are cheaper than that of Dangote. Nigerians have the option of using those.
In recent years, the Nigerian cement industry has grown from import dependency to an export-thriving epicentre within Africa. The country possesses the largest cement industry within West Africa, with at least 12 registered companies amounting to a merged cement capacity of 58.9 Mt/yr. Dangote Cement is the largest cement producer in Nigeria and West Africa, manufacturing a combined share of more than 28.5 Mt/yr of cement capacity. Also, LafargeHolcim (through its subsidiary AshakaCem & Lafarge WAPCO) and BUA Group boost 18.9 Mt/yr and 11.5 Mt/yr of integrated cement capacity, respectively.
rvp20182: You mean at discounted rate as rest of you bought at 750 naira to dollar. Never before has a country surrendered to private oligarchy. I don't blame. Your gov is pretty dysfunctional and as evil as Dangote is he is better than nothing
Many developed economies in the world today started with Government supporting their monopolies in-house. The monopolies then get so big, they spread to the world and some eventually divide into several branches.
Even Safaricom is a bigger monopoly than Dangote, and if it has problem today or a major beneficial project it can't execute alone, the Kenyan Government (if they know watzup) should do everything within their power to save Safaricom.
These are the details of the financing:
Project Cost - $18.5B
50% equity provided by @DangoteGroup, 50% debt financing
Debt financing mostly provided by Nigerian Banks
Of ~$9B in debt, @DangoteGroup has repaid down to under $3B.
rvp20182: You do realize Dangote only provided 3B..the rest are commercial loans n maybe some equity from Nigeria federal gov.Youll pay dearly for this refinery in very expensive refined fuel.Capital is important but at what cost? WHAT IS THE DISCOUNTED RATE OF THAT CAPITAL? CROOKED DANGOTES as always expect even 50 percent...you Nigerian will shed tears because DANGOTE doesn't intend to compete with efficient Indians, southnkoreans.,uae and Saudi refineries..expect tomorrow for old goat buhari to ban import of refine oil. Then music starts
Dangote owes just 2.7 Billion dollars on this project at the moment from 9 Billion dollars some time ago.
The Dangote group has almost 90% shares in Dangote cement ( the biggest firm in Nigerian stock exchange) plus the Fertiliser urea plant gave them over 600 million dollars revenue in exports last year.
theenchanter: well, it could be the biggest industrial project, I don't know until I confirm that...... But if it is, u can't compare Egypt's city project with an industrial project built by a single person.
U know what WB rep said at CBN's RT-200 bi-annual summit on the 9th of this month? He commended dangote ( dangote was there ), he said and I quote "dangote single handedly built what sovereign nations build". I.e, it is rare for a business man to single handedly build a refinery, refineries are built by states!!!
Exactly. It is the biggest private investment in Africa to be real. Egypt's project is being built by the Egyptian state.
Kazikazi: You mean all those things will be 19b? Or is a refinery alone costed 19b?
All these plus the refinery and the petrochemicals. The section for petrochemicals to produce plastics is also included. The fertiliser cost should be separate from the 19B I believe ( not totally sure).
However, the Fertiliser section producing and exporting urea cost 2.5 Billion dollars. That section has been completed since last year March.
Kazikazi: capital I just a part of problem. There are too many things which need to change in Africa. But I still doubt if 19b is the biggest in Africa. It's just am shocked. That means Egypt or SA have never done a single project worthy of 19b?
Egypt is still working on a city estimated around 25-30 Billion dollars but Egypt has suffered a lot in their economy due to this particular project and others.
Dangote project itself is like a city with a land size of over 2650 Hectares (thereabout), a special port, housing estate for workers and some top class chemical equipments specially built for the refinery in Europe, a special power plant with a capacity of 435MW and a subsea gas pipeline of over 1000km (to be ready probably 2026).
Just40: We know that Kenya is poorer than Ghana. So you're neither here nor there.
There's no link between sugar consumption and rich or poor but there's a link between diabetes, chronic heart disease, high libido in women, low manhood performance and sugar consumption .
Obaaderemi2: One pained monkey here said the refinery would never be completed. He thinks Nigeria is broke-ass little India. It's the same way he keeps wishing Eko Atlantic would never be completed but we would all be here to rub it on his ugly face when it happens, just like the refinery.
Lol. Refinery is completed, although I believe it's not at full capacity and Dangote would confirm to us the start date for production (most likely June). Eko Atlantic is also moving well.
swaggerjack: The country is destined to remain the poverty and corruption capital of the world. And you will see leaders of United Kingdom with a two car convoy and two motorcyles and Netherlands Prime Minister riding his bike to work.
Obaaderemi2: Ruto is that leader saying one thing and doing another. At least as the borrowing to pay salaries has shown.
The guy is a smooth talker. Both he and Akufo Addo are blessed with the gift of oratory/motivational/brilliant speeches and making the public love them. Reminds me of Fela Durutoye in our 2019 election. Peter Obi also have such skills (to a lesser extent though).
