It is because you are not reading my write-up with an open mind. I said brand finance , a reputable financial institution that rated values of nation rated Ghana as one of the influential country in africa ( Nigeria and kenya aren't even consider). That is my point . It is not about financial brand located in Ghana at all. It is you who is not reading or has another subjective mind .

And because I wasn't getting the question you raised , I suggest you are trying to know how some Ghanaian company are wealthy. I try listing some that comes up my mind. I actually don't know you didn't not know brand finance is a global organization and not peculiar to Ghana . You were actually comparing what those not exist .
Okay cool, although brand finance speaks of Sychelles, Mauritius, Rwanda, Tunisia, Ivorycoast, Ghana as countries with this so called soft power.

So I'm asking: What are the metrics for it or on what basis was their experiment conducted, since it wasn't clearly about financial institutions?

So what is this influence Ghana has in the African continent.

vankelvin:
Where did he say that?
[b]
You can read up from the beginning. This is a quote from him that got us into this argument:

[quote]vaax

" Influence is mostly about economic , governance and leadership and when you are factoring this aforementioned stastics , a reputable financial institution like ""brand finance"" raised Ghana among the top 10 most influential country in africa ( Nigeria and kenya are missing in the spot ) they don't even qualify. south africa and Morocco comes first and second respectively.

Let's start from brand finance first ."
[End quote]

Last I checked, brand finance deals with influential financial institutions in countries, of which Nigeria and South Africa are top two. Ghana, Senegal, and the likes are emerging.

If they decide to measure African soft power and they put Rwanda, Sychelles, Ghana, and the likes as having influence, then the question is: Based on what metrics? since it can't be finance brands.

you aren't making sense man, having influence is not about highest capital market . Why are you comparing Orange's with banana. If there is anything Nigeria has over Ghana . It will be population only and that affect the size of his market and not because the former is more successful or more influential than the later , I can argue it is even the other way round .
You said Ghana is influential because it has Finance Brands. That was how we got into this argument.

You then went on to list some of those Finance brands that makes Ghana influential. GCB, Engineering and Planning, Zoom lion are some of them according to you and you implied they are worth over 1 Billion dollars which is why they are top financial brands making Ghana influential in Africa.

You brought this argument up, not me.

1.6 Billion dollars general capital assets is too small to be anything influential in Africa.

how do you think a country influence another to vote with it on issues tabled by them (politically and diplomatically)?

Yes, it's quite unique education wise and the legal framework
Lol. Ghanaians on this platform are very entertaining grin.

it depends , it sometime computed as total assets minus total liabilities . So you will see in some organization , market cap can be more than total value of the shares if the shares is trading well
The market cap of GCB (one of Ghana's biggest banks) is 848 million cedis (84 million dollars). So what are you arguing again?

You should check how they vote in ECOWAS and you'll understand.

You should also find out why they still have hopes of being one country with Ghana and why Gambia has modelled it judiciary and jurisdiction after Ghana's
So when they vote in ECOWAS, what evidence do you have it's Ghana they are following and not Capeverde for instance?

Is Ghana's judiciary model or Jurisdiction unique? Why do you feel they modelled it after Ghana and not UK their forner colonial masters?

it is a serious big deal because mahama is a politician and the other one is a business man.

This is anon bias link
Asset is different from market cap. For instance, total Bank assets in Nigeria is over 70 trillion naira (140 Billion dollars) and still increasing but the highest market cap of any Bank in Nigeria is that of Zenith Bank at about 1.7 Billion dollars (or 1 trillion naira).

A fellow Nigerian from your clan ones describe it to you in the previous forum.

He ones told you how the Ghanaians he met in school from Japan to Korea and Germany were treated superbly different from all other Africans and kept wondering how Ghana managed to archive such soft power.

There's a reason why Rawlings was worshipped across west Africa as a bad influence by all military leaders across the subregion. Just like how our political movement during pre-independence modelled so many others across the sub region. That's the same way our democratic dispensation has influenced a lot strong shift in the political dispensation of the sub region through policies intervention and our effective civil society. I can go on to name countries and how Ghana intervenes
This Ghanaian influence and soft power you speak so orgasmically about is news to my ears but I'll likely stop here.

GCB probably worth more than two billion dollars ( you will need to go checked their market capitalization .

Engineer and planners are into mining of gold and diamond . It is owned by former president brother ( john mahama
You got jokes. As at June 16 2023, the market cap of GCB was 848 million cedis.

I know Engineer and Planners is owned by mahama. I saw it on their Website. Give me the link that states how much it's worth.

Ghana has no influence yet it can pull enough countries from West Africa through it soft power?

Have you asked yourself why countries like Gambia, Liberia, Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Benin and Togo as well as Nigeria itself will always follow Ghana path politically, diplomatically and economically?

The Ghanaian brand is very attractive... You should see Ghana leadership role in voting in ECOWAS and AU
Give present day examples of this. Not example of 1960.

Finance brand is a reputable global organization , they do rank and value the worth of every organization.amd nations. Go read about them and check there methodologies
You are funny. GCB is a state owned Bank but I don't think it's worth 1 Billion dollars. It's market cap on the Ghanaian stock exchange (GSE) is just 848 million cedis (84 million dollars).

Engineers and planners, I can't find any information as to what it's worth.

Zoomlion is a Chinese company except you have another Zoomlion we don't know about.

it is either you are suffering from cognitive underload or you are not learning at all. Four nation strive in hosting the afcta headquarter and it eventually lands on the feet of Ghanaian and you called that irrelevant? You must be abussing borncleer ( aka Codeine syrup )
That's cool but that doesn't signify much in terms of influence/relevance in Africa.
Ethiopia is home to the AU and was never colonised but how relevant is Ethiopia in Africa? Even in East Africa, many would consider Kenya more influential than Ethiopia.

Influence is mostly about Economy, Military, and spread of your culture.

Ghana is doing well but she is not even the most influential in English speaking West Africa. Ivorycoast is the most influential French speaking West African country and Nigeria is still the most influential English speaking West African country.

Kenya is the most influential East African Country just like South Africa in Southern Africa. Egypt is the top dog in North Africa.

Economic ranking, Military ranking, and Cultural spread in that order are the three topmost metrics to guage influence/relevance here.

Nigerian billionaires feel pain as Abdul Samad Rabiu loses a third of his fortune in Naira devaluation, losing nearly $3 billion in a day Mr. Rabiu’s valuation fell by $2.73 billion to $5.54 billion.

Most wealthy Nigerians maintain most of their business exposure in the country, which means their wealth is denominated in Naira. In other words, Rabiu’s wealth valuation was further weakened by the recent unification of the naira’s exchange rate system.

If you use a Non-Explosive Composite Fibre Cylinder, you won't have to worry about explosion with LPG, LNG, CNG or any other type of gas.

I'm just waiting for the results to come in, so I can decide on what to do next with my generator.

In terms of pricing, it is possible that petrol prices will fall a little with less demand if many Nigerians switch to gas to fuel their cars and generators, but what will happen to the price of gas with the high demand? You expect price of gas to remain below N700 per kg?
We have abundance of gas. If we can build the infrastructures.

When your ancestors were busy with those wooden gods, they were wiped and taken to slavery

Meanwhile when Europe was busy with Christianity in the with and with century, that is when a huge development and industrial revolution took place.Europeans and Americans got richer during that period

Today when Africans are coming out of a dark hole and embracing a Christian God this is when u see countries in Africa are starting to come out of a hole.

And the same Europeans are now turning back and embracing atheism.
You don't need a big brain to see how Europe is regressing.

They got rich without God,they used their strength, and definitely it is just a fluke.

You can be rich by either
Your own strength
Or God's help
Satanic help

Choose one son.
Europe and America began to progress when they adopted critical thinking in their christianity. They didn't make leaps in progress when they were just fanatics.

There was first the Renaissance (combination of christian ethos and Greek philosophy), then the Reformation of the Catholic church, and finally the so called enlightenment (in England with Christian deism in 17th century as well as so called humanism/agnosticism in France).

England had their best scientists and thinkers during this period of free thinking guided by staunch Christian ethos.

Religion is not the problem. Fanaticism and lack of critical thinking amongst many religious followers is.
