DANGOTE'S GREAT GRANDFATHER DEPOSITED 20 CAMELS OF SILVER COINS IN FIRST BANK IN 1929 Old Receipt Reveals Dangote's Grandfather as One of the First Nigerians to Deposit Money in a Bank
- Dangote's grandfather was one of the very first Nigerians to use a bank, according to an emerging old receipt
- Alhaji Alhassan Dantata opened an account and made a deposit in Kano state.
- His deposits were said to have been carried by camels.
The great grandfather of Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, was one of the first persons in the country to transact with a bank when they were established.
According to an old receipt shared on Twitter by Nigeria Stories, the businessman had made a deposit when the Bank of British (now First Bank) opened a branch in Kano state in 1929. Dangote's grand father was the first person to open a bank account and make a deposit in Kano Photo Credit: @NigeriaStories Alhaji Alhassan Dantata showcased great wealth even in the manner of his deposit at that time. He deposited 20 camel loads of silver coins.

Dangote's family were richest in West Africa years before amalgamation of Nigeria talk less of our independence. He was richest under OBJ through this Govt. If u are talking about monopoly then tell us what is monopolised to him? He is into Cement BUA breakthrough and is making great, he is into sugar, flour, salt and other food commodities and many are into them and making great fortunes. Your bigotry and fanaticism will keep overriding ur sense of decorum. Now he is into oil refining and many are going into it. During GEJ's administration many of his kinsmen were given licence and CBN supports to build refineries but wasted the money. Now BUA and Dangote have used their money and intellect, u are here shouting nonsense bigotry. Tell ur brothers into trade to learn how to venture into manufacturing! This is key. I admire the Igbos for being great traders but if they could develop similar enthusiasm for manufacturing, I believe they would also do greatly as well. What Africa needs more at this moment is Indigenous manufacturing. |

Ofolete: This man is enjoying Nigeria and is not helping Nigeria in anyway. He will soon be richer than Nigeria. Cement, sugar, milk, Noddles, rice and whatever that is his product is increasing everyday. How is he not helping Nigeria in any way? Which other ongoing investment is worth 19 billion dollars and the second largest in Africa besides Egypt's smart city of 30 billion dollars? |

Just40: This complex land system is the reason why no European could steal our lands ...
You deserve a complex system like this that no foreigner understand in order to preserve your lands. Exactly. I think among the 5 English speaking west African countries, only the Gambians have a loosed land system and I've heard a recent story of a European who bought a huge land space, left it and then came back after many years to claim it causing problems for the locals who moved in there within that time. |

Anyway latest
Last time Ghana lost to Nigeria was at AFCON 2006.
Since then:
GH 4-1 NG Friendly
GH 2-1 NG AFCON
GH 1-0 NG AFCON
GH 0-0 NG Friendly #AFCONwithGary https:///RyfBgjKKAM Yeah we also beat Ghana in 2002 and 2006 Afcon (in the days of the Okocha's and Kanu's), so I think it's been even till date in the 2000's. However, I don't rate any Nigerian team that existed before 1976. |

rvp2018: Why would people be building houses if there was no takers? Lagos & Accra have over capacity because there is no formal sector to generate jobs and income.
200 dollars is for very cheap house in Nairobi Eastland - a two bedroom. It's Nairobi lower middle income.
Rent in half of Nairobi - that is West part of Nairobi - plays around 2,000 to 5,000usd - even more than that - for standalone - and for apartments 800usd to 1,000usd. If you check LinkedIn jobs for example, lagos alone has 4 times more job opening than the whole of Kenya and we are talking just Lagos here in comparison to the entire Kenya.

rvp2018: Something West Africa Zoos can learn.
Kenya sorting it's housing deficit - Gov owns a lot of housing estates - that are now old and dilapidated - the land is given to developer - who demolish them - build affordable units and few market rates units.
In total 500,000 units - that on average can settle 3-4 people - is two million people living decently.
Gov expenditure - almost ZERO.
From this. So who told you this is not also happening in Nigeria and Ghana? Do you watch videos of Nigerian youtubers like Tayo Aina and Steven Ndukwe? The problem with you is that you get so easily excited that you just go haywire until we calm you down, then the next second you are out of control again. |

obaaderemi: This road was a major problem for decades in Lagos. Especially from Iyana Iba towards Seme. Agbara end was another wahala. Thank God it's getting the much needed attention. I don't want to be political though and I would be the first to admit Buhari's faults because I am neither APC or PDP, but I think in terms of Infrastructure (some areas of Infrastructure), the Buhari's Government has been a little bit more dedicated these few years especially in resuscitating abandoned projects. |

rvp2018: I suggest you use the money to rehabilitate your road network before you build new..the culture of maintenance is sorely lacking in Nigeria..no point building a road then 5yrs later it's like moon surface See who is talking of road network and yet you don't have paved roads in about 70% of your country Kenya? Even your fellow Kenyan here admitted that. |
