Falcons at the 2023 World Cup tournament played better & surpassed our best outing at the mundial USA 1999. Falcons looked like a formidable side in AUNZ 2023 In 1999 we were all about attack without defense discipline. In 2023, defense discipline was there. |

Deltamani: Copied
I am posting this to call the attention of Nigeria Super Falcons Media department and show them how it's done in this 21st century.
This is the arrival of the Black Queens of Ghana🇬🇭 and their first training session ahead of their 2024 WAFCON qualifying match against Namibia🇳🇦.
I have been monitoring the Super Falcons page/account via Facebook and X (formerly known as Twitter) since Monday but nothing of such, then how do you want Nigerians to know about their players when they are around to represent our country🇳🇬?
During matchday too, no live streaming, no action pictures during the match...
What exactly the media department are doing to promote the Female team?

Mkenya2019: Why would someone go to a Hausa businessman selling dollars more expensively than their local bank?
Make me understand. Are Hausa using guns to stop people from going to buy cheap dollars (850) and go the backstreet for 1150?
You're incredible.
Black market exist because the commercial banks cannot meet dollar demand. They cannot meet because there is free market - where demand and supply forces - work to align.
Banks should sell dollars at 1150 like black market - and soon nobody will go backstreet. In 2016, we made new rules that somehow mandated a restricted official market. Banks giving to only a select few. Thus even till this day, the Banks hoard dollars and direct you to the black market (Abokis). Therefore no matter how high black market is, the general perception is that you get dollars quicker there than the Banks. This is where I blame Tinubu. His Government quickly devalued without giving confidence to the market first that the Bank process has been made easy and dollars would not be hoarded in Banks for round tripping at the black market. He devalued to quickly get investors but they did not come quickly because of hikes in interest rates in UK and USA. |

forgiveness: Doesn't change the fact that naira is sill freely floating.
New policy against black market will be unveiled very soon.
Remember, blackmarkert is the source of income to an ethnic group in here hence the need to tread cautiously to avoid being tagged as witchhunting them. You mean the Abokis right? I understand. |

Mkenya2019: Freely floating yet people are still buying from backstreet.
Nigeria need to do what I have always told you - long before brilliant Tinubu came - and implemented.
FREELY FLOAT NAIRA. It not freely floating now. Do you hear of black market dollar rate in Kenya or South Africa.
Tinubu should keep faith 1) freely float naira 2) end fuel subsidy 3) end import substitution policies 4) fix electricity 5) invest in security, free education & health esp in northern nigeria
Those 5 will pay off h Black market in Nigeria is more than the eyes can see. It has been a big cartel for so long. You can't keep allowing that market dictate to the CBN. What the CBN needs to do is to find a way or policy to channel the inflows that go to the black market back into the official market. We had that balance before 2016 but due to some policies then we gave the black market a life of it's own for a long time and now it's difficult to tame. |

As for Naira - God help you - even after such huge devaluation - the black market still exist. Yeah black market still exists. The problems leading to such huge black market in Nigeria are not straightforward and this is what Tinubu and his team failed to realize before devaluing at once. Lots of these issues have to do with the huge crypto market in Nigeria and P2P. Hundreds of billions of dollars have gone through the Nigerian crypto market which is beyond the control of the CBN so I don't believe devaluation was the silver bullet. I said this here as well last year. |

Nigeria still leading African economy
After Nigeria, South Africa is the next country in line, but they haven’t released their GDP numbers for Q3 2023 yet.
The South African economy generated ZAR4.6 trillion, according to GDP Q2 figures from the country’s statistics bureau.
South Africa’s GDP is around $243.4 billion when converted to US dollars using the official exchange rate of about ZAR18.98/$1. With these figures, Nigeria is the leading economy in Africa.
Just like Nigeria, South Africa’s currency has also declined but not as high as the naira. The value of South Africa’s currency declined by around 15%.
Further analysis demonstrates that for Nigeria’s GDP to fall below South Africa’s when measured in US dollars, the naira would need to decline to approximately N900/$1.
Although the naira’s black market rate is currently above N1000/$1, this analysis has just considered the official exchange rates, assuming they are not artificially fixed.
And while the official rates have often sold above N900/$1, the NAFEX rates have yet to touch the N900/$1 rate.
The base year for constant prices utilized by both nations is another important factor to think about. While South Africa has changed its base year to 2015, Nigeria is still using 2010 for constant prices.
Although the current figures still favour Nigeria, this can change the relative values of the GDPs of the two nations.
Also, South Africa reported a real GDP growth rate of 1.6% for the second quarter of 2023. This is lower than Nigeria’s real GDP growth rate of 2.51% in the same period and 2.54% in Q3 2023. |

Deltamani: Is it the Swedish League you’re referring to as a Lower European League?? Let me know!
ahbi them tell you say the Swedish League da same level with the Netherland, Norway, Scotland, Austria,Iceland, Switzerland, Russian League??
Or the Turkish, Belarusian and Polish leagues Lol, I mean the Swedish league slowly lost its previous steam since around 2010 but I wasn't aware of this ranking though. My overall point is that I prefer bonding in a team and a team that clicks. Also some home based players may likely prove to be hungrier than some of these players we invite from Sweden, Russia, Turkey, etc. |

Season finished last week in 🇸🇪 so she’s arguably very free and available.. With her performance this sessshe deserves a call up! lovewins: That's our most important need. A typical Super Falcons striker is one with pace, agility and can convert chances. We however also have secondary needs. I think we still need forwards and or wing backs who can cross the ball and create chances. Most if not all our forwards (save Oshoala) are terrible ball crossers and chance creators. That's why Ajibade must move upfront. Aside Oshoala, she can create chances easily. Alozie in attack and Rinsola Babajide are also good crossers of the ball if they play as wing forwards. I would prefer Monday James as center forward for now and Oshoala as a winger. |

I was gutted Randy didn't give her more chance at the last AWCON especially as all other strikers were misfiring She had her chance against Burundi then though but failed to make good first impression. I remember she missed a one on one. After that we had the knock out stages and the era of trying out new players was over. Rosa and Mcclean both have potential but still quiet average for now and are not yet the all round world class strikers or attackers we need. |

lovewins: Yes, Onumonu sadly isn't a solution to the problem. Rinsola is just another player in the mold of Monday and Kanu with a few variations. Vicky Lopez isn't playing for Nigeria and it's time we move past her. She also isn't exactly a striker so doesn't address the problem. Yeah I mean we need attacking players in general not just strikers specifically. |
Sports › Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by GeneralDae: 12:26pm On Nov 21, 2023 |
lovewins: I think it's more about what kind of team we are building and not just who and who shouldn't be in the team. The team being built and the way the coach is building the team should largely determine who should make the team. Sadly we still do not have a substantiative coach so answering your question may be difficult. I can only try to give my opinion on where I think we are lacking and where I think we should improve based on our world cup and last match performance.
Defence
Much of what the defence needs is synergy, and you get that by the ladies having more playing time together and them having defined roles. We still haven't sorted out our full back positions as what currently obtains are makeshifts. Alozie can be efficient as LB but that isn't her role and Ashleigh played RB at the world cup was a makeshift. Against Ethiopia we were still experimenting Alozie at LB (she was atrocious there) in other to accommodate Nicole. Imuran was brought in at some point as LB but even she no longer functions in that role at her clubside. We need to get those roles sorted once and for all and allow them playing time to build synergy and understanding. Ideally we need 4 CBs; with Ashleigh, Demehin and Ohale already on the team, we need one more person to fit that role. I haven't been impressed with Akudo, maybe Comfort Folorunsho will impress, time will tell.
Midfield First, Ajibade isn't a midfielder and should be completely taken off that role. I'm most satisfied with our midfield cause of the growth of Abiodun and Echiegini. I'll rather they start so they grow into the roles.
Forwards Oshoala is a veteran and her experience in the team is invaluable, I however think she isn't as virulent as she used to be. Uchenna Kanu is at best a fringe player not a starter. She played 16 games for her new team in the NWSL and only started 4. Mind you she was bought to serve as their started and she did start the first few games, but got dropped to the bench after a while. She also had no goal and assist all season. I think she's a liability defensively and she sadly doesn't make up for it upfront. Really do hope she improves her game but that's where she is right now. Esther Okoronkwo in my opinion hasn't done enough to make the team. With the inclusion of Rinsola and really do not see the need for her in the team any longer. I'll rather go with a flourish or Ajakaye than Esther at this point. I wouldn't also mind trying Alozie as a forward and see if it works, but if there is any role where need to to recruit players for, it's in our attack. We just do not have the needed firepower right now. You have a point. Attacking position is still our biggest headache. We need two skillful forwards and it's unfortunate Onumonu is no longer her former self. Even Rinsola do not seem to have that form she had in the English premier league. Ajibade should indeed be moved upfront and of course you never know whether or not Oshoala would have a off day or play well. So I agree, our immediate need is a firepower attack. Vickylopez still too young and NFF is yet to go for her. |

lovewins: If you notice, my first argument was that this matches should serve as some form of rehearsal, that is, preparation for our Olympics qualifiers and fixing areas where the team is deficient. Coming from the world cup, we had a team that was defensively disciplined but was impotent in attack. We played 4 games at the world cup and only scores in one of those games. So if there is any area we should be improving on now it should be our attack while at the same time strengthening other positions.
Esther Okoronkwo like you acknowledge isn't in form. I've never been a fan, I however also haven't been a critic cause I hadn't at the time seen enough of her to make a judgement. I have however seen enough now to posit she isn't bringing that much to the team (the injury asides). I of course expect us to beat Cape Verde but we still won't be improving as key members of the team aren't present and we still have work to do on attack.
In my opinion, Kanu wasn't impressive in the last game. Of course she scored a goal and should be acknowledged for it, but her overall game play was underwhelming. She's still not a starter in my book. In your opinion, name 3 players you think should have been called but weren't called. Also name 2 or 3 players you think should no longer make the starting line up or that you think shouldn't have been called. I ask because I think it's still a good list in general not just against a Capeverde but even against Cameroon. I score it 7/10. |
Sports › Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by GeneralDae: 9:42am On Nov 21, 2023 |
lovewins: I get the spirit of what you're trying to say. The first thing that come to mind as I saw the list was "we are rotating th roster". It's concerning cause we have Olympics qualifiers ahead of us and these games should serve as some form of rehearsal for the ladies.
As a fan, even I know FSU and Pitts have a game on Friday with one of them moving to the next round z so as happy as I was to see both of the girls in the team was surprised how that happened. Maybe there's something they know we don't.
Our striking option is the most concerning. Esther Okoronkwo isn't in form period! Monday, Rinsola and Kanu are too alike and basically play same role. Should Oshoala struggle on the day we have no alternative. This was an opportunity for the coach to test Alozie fully on the right wing of the attack or as a striker. |

AkinDS: As usual, the NFFs stupidity reigns supreme. Both Echegini and Abiodun’s teams will clash in the NCAA women’s Soccer Championship elite 8 on November 24, with one of them going into the final 4. So definitely, one of them will be unable to attend the match. Yet the bufoons who drew up the list didn’t even bother to check and make sure those being invited did not have any previous engagements. Also, the stupid selectors failed to realize that Okoronkwo has not played a match in close to 4 weeks, and then you pile the team up with some no namers who are simply not good enough to play at this level. What a bunch of morons! If I'm not mistaken, I think Okoronkwo played two weeks ago when Monday James scored two goals. |
