kokoA: Seems there will be more technocrats than career politicians on the old man's list.
If I were him, I would just give those career politicians the post of Ambassador. Make dem be Ambassadors, finish. Give young people, women, and other technocrats ministerial positions.
Obaaderemi2: How do you expect them to compete against cheap imports from Asia? He's trying to protect the industry, like Buhari did with rice. The only problem with this kind of path is that you will end up producing substandard but expensive local goods.
My point was that he was saying Buhari should always allow free market. Buhari should have allowed competition 😂😄
ClassicMan202: I will answer your question after you either confirm or deny what I said in the previous comment. Has he failed without government support or not?
How do you know Government didn't support him too in the other businesses he failed?
Also, did Government single only him out to support so massively? If so, why did they do that?
misano: The point is a man that has failed in many other ventures can still fail if not careful. That's the point. Hopefully he will not fail but failing is a probability.
Failing is sometimes part of the stories of successful businessmen. Nothing strange. However, the refinery project have come too far to fail with many vested interests already.
ClassicMan202: Bro.... He failed in tomatoes and dansa fruit juice even the sugar business is facing serious competition from his northern brothers (if not government would have helped him), what about the noodles business?? d€ad
Any business he has a serious competition always falters.
But he succeeded in Cement and has succeeded not just in Nigeria but across 10 African countries. Are you saying Government is helping him manage his cement business in those countries? Also, is he the only one in Nigeria who has been helped by Government this way?
XerXers: His Tomatoes factory failed in Kano. Now overrun by bush. Dangote has always been a government baby and not a real business man. See how how he runs to Aso Rock like a coward
So because he failed in Tomatoes, it means he is no businessman? Is he the only Government baby in Nigeria?
Message from the press service of the President of the Republic of Belarus.
This morning, Russian President Vladimir Putin briefed his Belarusian counterpart on the situation in southern Russia with the private military company Wagner. The heads of state agreed on joint actions.
As a follow-up to the agreements, the President of Belarus, having additionally specified the situation through his own channels, and in agreement with the President of Russia, held talks with the head of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin.
Negotiations continued throughout the day. As a result, they came to agreements on the inadmissibility of unleashing a bloody massacre on the territory of Russia. Yevgeny Prigozhin accepted the proposal of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to stop the movement of armed persons of the Wagner company on the territory of Russia and take further steps to de-escalate tensions.
At the moment, on the table is an absolutely profitable and acceptable option for solving the situation, with security guarantees for the Wagner PMC fighters.
As previously reported, also during today, the President of Belarus held two meetings with the power bloc of the country on this situation.
Obaaderemi2: This mutiny is probably fueled by America. Wagner will not be a problem to the world if it takes over. Putin himself is a threat to world Peace and prosperity. Look how the war has messed up grain prices across the world.
Wagner would definitely be a problem to the world. They are mostly a bunch of dickheads. Who knows? They may start selling nukes or other sophisticated weapons to the likes of Mali and Central African Republic in Africa.
rvp2018: News - Wagner are pulling more and more troops from Ukraine occupied Luhask as we speak - as they are going to become big bosses of Russia. Why fight when you can take over Russia oil fields and minerals.
If Wagner eventually overthrows Putin (which would be a long one), that wouldn't be good news to the world. An unknown criminal taking over Putin and controlling Nukes?? Hmm.
Just40: Putin address the public on what is going on and has promised to punished everyone responsible and has played a part to the situation with Wagner getting here.
Prigozhin himself will be punished because he has overplayed his hand, he was only allowed to get to this point because Putin directly permit him and that is why his beef is not with Putin but Shoigu.
There's not even a possibility of it being a coup, it is not even a coup against military leadership but a rebellion against them by wagner to defame Shoigu enough to cause Putin to remove him.
Hmm, okay let's see how it goes. By next week all will be clear.
Obaaderemi2: Are you aware Putin already addressed Russians on the possibility of a coup taking place and that as we speak Wagner is marching towards Moscow?
gidgiddy: The issue is not if Tinubu attended Chicago State University, most people believe he did
The real issue however is if he is the person the university initially gave admission, or was he an impostor who assumed someone else's identity to attend university there?
The answer to that question may expose the long held fact that Tinubu was born by a different name, but only started answering "Bola Tinubu" from University
In that case, the University should have flagged it down. Are you saying the University have not realized this until now, and it would take our court to notify them?
With this single act of taking a piss, the Russian military hands that is tied behind it back by Shuigo who are conservatives will sit up and allow the military to fully do their job. Wagner have been stabbed in the back by those two people for so long a time.
Wagner will get an audience from Putin and they will receive the weapons they need.
😄😄😄 I am sometimes surprised but I must give it to you.
Maize247: No genuine case against Tinubu here from Chicago University to dual citizenship
The rate at which Atiku and Obi have proven to be so desperate with the kind of petitions they presented makes it even scary to me that these guys were once presidential candidates.
Kazikazi: am not sure how much it was devalued in 2016,and if it was floated at the time. What we see now issomehow different with the previous devaluations. Currently, they r floating it,and that will lead into massive depreciations unlike the devaluation of the past few years. That's why I said earlier, it will be harder for them to let it float freely Anyway, time will tell, its too early to make the long term predictions
No nation in the world allows her currency float freely continuously without intervening at some point in time. Central Bank of Nigeria made it clear they would intervene much later when some backlogs are cleared. For now, naira is still trying to settle.
Kazikazi: I doubt if your tinibu can freely float the currency and do the necessary reforms to attract foreign investments which was unacceptable too low for a huge Nigerian population
There are some reports which were saying about naira being overvalued by a as high as 250%. If naira is floated freely, it might loose value by more than 150%, now imagine how it will affect the GDP figures and inflation, and the pride of being Africa's biggest economy. I don't think the shortsighted folks will accept their ego to die just like that.
Expect a lot of resistance when reforms are being implemented
You are getting it wrong. Naira was devalued in 2016 too. It had minimal impact on GDP. Within a year and as Nigeria got out of recession, value of output in naira terms simply doubled all round to balance out the devaluation. We then got back to around thesame GDP as 2015 before the devaluation and we've been there for a while now.
I understand the logic that devaluation of currency should automatically lead to big fall in GDP but it's not a linear relationship. Also, naira has already been floated. At the moment, the black market is cheaper than the official rate already.
Black market is 755 naira to a dollar while official is almost 800 naira. So your assertion that they are scared to float freely because of pride is false. Experts say the real value of the naira should even be lower at 600 or 550 when everything settles down.
TruthinAction: In the midst of it all, he is making it more comfortable for the rich. How can a sane man focus on salary increase of the rich by over 100% and ignore that of the workers who are worst affected by his thoughtless decision?
Where did you read Tinubu increased salary of the rich by over 114%?
Joe4real1988: Bro sorry to say, you are a big fuul. Reasonable men are talking of what's affecting the country due to the bad leadership choice we usually make, you are here being tribal. What da fuc:k is wrong with you guys sef.......
discusant: At least, I am mentally healthier than you.
Nobody who is mentally healthy will sideline all the presidential materials in Nigeria but goes for Tinubu to become president of his/her country. Those who sidelined healthy and cleaner Osinbajo but put Tinubu with Shettima as VP have intention for a president Shettima shortly, I understand this; you don't have the mental capacity to understand this.
Thesame Osibanjo you speak so beautifully about worked for Tinubu and was part of Tinubu's team. If Tinubu is as bad as you think how did he work with great talents like Osibanjo as the leader? Think about it.
vaxx: now , check this video and see how mr sami diplomatically explained the issue . I can't do the justice better than him.
And know this , there is no way Benin will not owed Ghana . It is just common sense , because electricity supply is about take and pay , therefore there will be pile up unused energy by Benin from Ghana that is yet to be consumed that will be pay for after it has been used . It is like your nepa giving you light before your bill
Ghana herself is trying to restructure her 1.4 Billion dollars electricity debt last I checked. You think they won't try to get what they can from Benin this period if truly Benin is indebted to them?
vaxx: Listing good , on a diplomatic note , why will the issue be exposed ? Are you so sure Benin is not owing Ghana . ( I guess your best answer is because you are looking for a similar situation in which it was exposed in Nigeria ). Nah Ghana isn't that way unless it has become a public nuisance .
Our church building wasn't even an issue until some people make a politics out of it .
There is something we call diplomacy
Here's another thing that should be exposed but we hardly talk about it. Buhari didn't mention names of the defaulters in this plea.
President Muhammadu Buhari has made a passionate plea to member-states of the Gulf of Guinea Commission (GGC) to remit their outstanding Annual Assessed Contributions to the Secretariat. According to him, the continued non-payment of dues by most member-nations had greatly affected the ability of the Commission to fulfil the mandate for which it was established in 2001.
According to him: “Through the Deep Blue Project in June 2021, the Government of Nigeria unveiled $195 million worth of boats, vehicles and aircraft to spearhead the country’s fight against piracy in the Gulf of Guinea.
