The man doesn't provide for her. He's a loafer; always in one betting shop or the other but feels entitled to food.

He bares her from coming home after 7pm and often locks her out of the house.

Yet same nincompoop comes home anytime he wants. What should she do?

She's tired of his nonsense.

Don't call your AUNTs husband a nincompoop and be careful how you get yourself mixed up in their affairs because we can never fully grasp the issues between lovers no matter how long the aggrieved party narrates his/her story. Today they can fight, while you are taking a side, they settle and swear to love each other and you look foolish.

I find it weird that in this day and age with social media and women empowerment, your aunty is still staying in a marriage that is "inconvenient" for her undecided Or maybe it's convenient for her according to the value she has placed on herself and her self worth.

Your Aunty has not really told you the benefits she's still holding on to in that marriage, all the talk na just talk.

TV/Movies / Re: Crossdressing In Skits In Nigeria: A Rising Concern by generationz(f): 3:03pm On Feb 27, 2021
Because it's funnier when a man cross-dresses in a clip or movie especially when his biceps are obvious and his face with make shows he's a man. It's just funnier nothing spiritual or sinister about it.

It also doesn't promote homosexuality if not buff athletes who have fooled everyone with their presumed "masculinity" over the years wouldn't just come out as gay and shock everyone.

Remember when billionaire Richard Brandon wore a wedding dress to a program his company organized for marketing purposes, was he also gay? It was just funny and caught the attention of everybody more than if he had contracted a female model to wear the dress. grin

Bunch of CGI pictures. They're all fake. No man made object can land on the moon talkmore of mars. The earth is an enclosed system. Nothing comes in, nothing goes out. Yes Nasa's claimed Apollo moon landing NEVER happened! It was staged.
Stars like mars are embeded outwards on the glass ceiling covering the entire earth.

To those quoting me, you're free to believe what Nasa want you to believe. I know what I know.

Not saying I believe anything Nasa says but do you have proof (images, videos, soil, research papers,) to prove your claims? I would really like to know.

Yup, purchasing a house is no longer considered an investment.

There are provincial investment programs. Most of them require a net worth of ~$300,000 - 500,000 and the ability to invest > $150,000 in cash.

I believe NB has the lowest investment requirement of $75,000. I also remember that if you invest in a remote community in BC, the requirement drops to ~$100,000.

Just google "Investor PR (province name)" and all options become available.

4, 5 years ago some immigration companies would loan you the entire money for the investment at relatively high interest rates (> 10% APR) if you could provide 25 to 50% of the required investment.

Remember that for middle and high-income earners in Canada, these investments are equivalent to 1 year's salary.

What province do you reside in?

In some parts of Canada, the requirement drops to $75,000 or $125,000.

Usually, you have to show a net worth of ~$300,000 and be able to invest ~$125,000 or $75,000 easily.

But investments don't include buying a house, right?

I heard they return your invested money or something like that after 4or 5 years (that's when you get all your papers). How true is this?

Buy a house in Canada or business startup. Read about the requirements .

Buying a house doesnt qulaify. You'll need $400,000 and above to invest in a business and then still have to source for your travel fees.

Chiminemine:
Hello guys. I just received one of the biggest insults of my life today in church.

So I went to church today and along the line, I decided to scroll through NAIRALAND a little bit because the sermon was a little boring. So as I was pressing my phone in peace ohhh, one usher just came to where I sat and taped me. as I looked at her, she stretched her hand out signaling she wanted to sieze my phone. At first I was confused because where I was a lot of people where operating their phones but she didn't approach them. I didn't want to insult her or create a scene so I just lied that I was sending someone an important text. Then she said I should be quick and put out the phone, That if I were in a lecture hall would I use my phone in the presence of the lecturer? So I obliged. I experience similar scenarios a lot in my life and it makes me sad sometimes. Sometimes, teenage boys would be interacting with me as if I am in their age grade. My peers wouldn't want to be around me because they would feel I am just a kid. I can't get a girlfriend because girls look at me like their younger brothers. this has turned me into a full time introvert . I am really hurt. Even my own father uses my statur to insult me at times . It's only by my thick voice that people can tell that I am grown up and thats not enough.

Guys please help me, I need advice. I am 20 years old and 5 foot 8 inches tall.

You are the same height as Eminem and I'm sure wizkid is smaller than you. Just be squeezing your face angry look people in the eye and don't laugh.

Danhoys:
I thought I knew what dirtiness was until my cousin's sister started living with us. We gave her a room, a roof over her head until she finds her bearing.

She's an orphan, almost going to 28 years, and sells food on Sundays for cash.

But, looking at her, she's the replica of the word 'unappealing.'

Her hair is always shabby, dirty, and she never attempt to even braid it to keep it in order. Black is beautiful, but hers comes in brown patches and acne.

She doesn't even care.

We have a water closet, and she's ready to keep popping without an attempt to flush. The last time I traveled and left the home for a week, the toilet was beyond what I could comprehend.

To the point I had to do renovation, repainted the wall, and had to hire a cleaner to help wash the toilet thoroughly.

I couldn't risk catching a disease doing it myself. That was how bad it was.

After doing all these, she stopped using the toilet, but would prefer to pop in the compound with a black nylon at night.

Sometimes, she even forget to throw them away. I had woke up very early in the morning. Saw her bucket and wanted to use it, what I saw changed my day.

I saw her feces, and since then I vowed never to touched a bucket that is isn't mine.

Aside from her protruding stomach which she does little to hide, the wrapper she wears every evening have never seen water in months.

Women are supposed to be conscious of their unclothedness, but not this cousin of mine.

She can avoid all the bathrooms, and choose to bathe outside in the open at night.

Like, around 8 to 9 pm when everyone is still very much awake.

Sometimes children will bump in on her unintentionally, and the kid will run away traumatized by what he or she have seen.

I dare not go into details to recount how she prepares the food she sales, and how dirty her coolers and kitchen utensils can swim with maggots for 6 days before she finally washes them on Saturday and prepares food on Sunday for her esteemed customers.

She's not beautiful facially, nor wear makeup or earrings since it's against her belief.

Doesn't wear clothes that suit her. If she dresses like an mbeke, that wouldn't be a problem. I just don't understand her dressing at all, coupled with her dirty look.

When it comes to religion, hers is the worse, jumping from one church to the other. And worse, we hardly sleepy at midnight.

She is always in battle with demons, with her speaking of tongues that don't just sound ridiculous, but deafening and irritating.

She's just 28, and I doubt if any man has ever stopped her on the road, and I still suspect she have never laid with a man before.

She's not mentally unstable if that is what most of you might think.

She's lively, knows how to joke and hold conversations like we all do. But when it comes to her body, grooming, overall cleaningness, she's zero.

There are grades of dirtiness, but when it comes to a stage where someone now dines and wines with feces, then there is a problem somewhere.

She's shapeless and doesn't want to do anything about it despite my numerous advise. She eats junk, like...

She runs to the backyard, gets some vegetables and fry it up with some concoctions and food is ready.

I know all their foods, and the things she cooks is nothing less than a concoction. I've eat her food once and my stomach testified.

A thoroughly analysis of her personality fascinates me to some extent. Is this her personality? Something that is genetically engineered into her that she has no control over?

Can she change?

Do you think I can help her, how?

You said she's an Orphan. Being an Orphan or not having strong parental influence in your life can make one become careless. Do you watch those programs where people are so fat they have to carry them out of their rooms for surgery? Who do you think is responsible for that deterioration? The parents. It's the parents who keep buying the child food when he/she throughs tantrums and nobody can tell them, "your child is too fat" they'll fight you. Parental influence is so vital and can determine if one will be lazy or resourceful.

For your cousin as an Orphan it would have been better if she was in a home with someone with an iron fist even if being maltertread because it builds character and self-sufficiency sometimes.

You are her parent now. You have to talk to her. You have to keep shouting at her. You have to remind her of her looks and teach her these things now. Please, help this girl. No one loves dirt. She doesn't know better. Tell her if she must have a roof over her head, she has to clean the house, bathrooms daily.

By the way, some dirty women still have sex. So she's just not loose.

Brother,
if you are thinking about Law, then you can definetely get t the top of your career.

Especially look at Corporate law, you can carve a niche for yourself there.

i think what you need to do first is to develop enough passion, to drive you enough to get the best outta Law in school, Honestly irrespective of the fact that we are Nigeria and you need connection to rise, the biggest law firms ( Talk of Aluko Oyeabode, Olaniwun Ajayi LP) those guys are the smartest lawyers in Lagos and Nigeria, and they only take the best of the best graduates from the best Nieria Universities and abroad. and i have seen how they close deals of billion for the biggest boys in the economy, while making billions for themselves too.
Get a first Class Law degree, Try to come out top of your class, Join/lead a law association while in school, Ace Law school and try to bag an Award.
While you are doing that and prayin as well, The big shots are looking for stars, and they will find you.

Most of those Charge and Bail Lawyers, actually dont know law, they wasted in school and are now blaming the economy.

Develop a Winning mentality, I did some work with some of the best shots in the legal industry lately, and i was like, i could be a lawyer too and be as good as this people. While in school, let that mentality be your guide, apply for internships with the big shot law firms in lagos while in school, understand the VI way, and prepare a plan for yourself to get in there. The truth is that, if you dont get in the high class corporate world early enough you may not get in again,

Corporate Law, Real estate Law, Tax Law...Mergers and Acquisitions, any law that has to do with Finance and economy, you will make Money there and also be a star. All those Murder and Domestic case laws...abeg leave am.

BTW, go and watch Suits, you may find love in Law.

I was enjoying what you were writing until i saw the last paragraph then i realized you were in Lala land. sad

Seems like you are also a law student?

Of course. Even those with good jobs in chambers still have outside hustle. Some become lecturers and have their own chambers. Those are the successful ones.

As a lawyer, you have to make a way for yourself. You will build your connections yourself. You have to be sharp and dogged. Law is not like other courses especially salary-wise and not many chambers pay well so you have to be sharp and grab every opportunity you see even if it has to do with selling land, houses etc.

To be honest, if you have the opportunity, just study another course or if the opportunity to make money comes, make the money then enrol to study law while you are comfortable. It's sweeter then to get the certificate when you already have the money just for bragging rights like Kanayo.

Note: You can see most lawyers here avoided this thread. grin

Hello Nairalanders,

I've been here for a while now and having evaluated certain things on the forum I think I'll get the sincerest of answers to my question.

I intend to study law; I'm good with my English, have a formidable sense of logical and critical reasoning and naturally charismatic. These should be the basic requirements for intending lawyers( at least, according to the naive me).

Academically, I will humbly say I know my worth: with the beyond-basic knowledge of Government, a fair knowledge of the mechanics of politics and the ability read without wearing out, I suppose a lawyer is in the oven, soon to be baked.

However, my very close confidant advised me to drop the dream and seek something viable. My mother who have not had much to do with lawyers and who believe them to be just hungry folks scavenging for cases from one police station to another doesn't think it's a good shot.

Now, I plead we leave sentiments aside. Be critical with your reply and please, let your comments not be made out of prejudice.

What are my chances of making it as a lawyer in today's Nigeria?

PS: You might have better options for me, like migrating to a computer-related course or learn a soft skill. I've gotten much of that . Just kindly answer the question.

Thanks in anticipation.

Many people will learn too.

Op i can't tell you your chances of succeeding in any given course what I'll say is while in school don't get carried away with your white and black, raising shoulder and chasing girls as per law student. School is the best time to widen your Horizon. If you are not on the first-class try and have a side hustle because most lawyers end up making it through their side hustles than through court cases.

Meet with lawyers, ask questions, try and intern in law firms and see one on one how lawyers even those with first-class are hustling. Don't get carried away by the name of the firm. Put your hears to the ground and listen well to the subtle words they say.

Except you are from a connected family, it will take years for you to stand on your two feet as a lawyer no matter how good you are but it's possible.

If you can port to computer science, great. It helps when you want to leave the country as IT jobs are always available abroad.
