NairobiWalker:Pre world war 11 era, people only saw potentials in China due to their population, but if you talk of technological advancement or politics or anything else, then you are very wrong! Some decades ago, China had so much poverty like Africa today and they weren't a force to reckon with on the world level in any way. Their Japanese neighbours treated them as rags and subhumans. **** China took the world unaware after the Mao revolution. Don't try me on history, this is my field. How China brought 800 million people out of poverty within a few decades is still a shock to the western world. First, you may have the largest population in Africa but still there are many countries ahead of you that are doing extremely better than you. For a country with your population to be a superpower, it must be run extremely well. However, Nigeria is one of the worst run countries in the world. We love to see Kenya as poorly run but when we look at Nigeria, we feel like we aren't so badly off.Trust me, the feeling is mutual. I used to see Kenya as a country's development to question Nigeria's current state, till I discovered the superficial and fake nature of Kenya's development. This makes me feel Nigeria is really trying. Two, you love seeing yourself as hardworking but you'll never know the definition of hardworking until you visit countries such as Japan or Westen Europe. The problem with Africans is we think being busy is being hardworking. You walk into African cities and see everyone on the move hurrying and you think they're working but look at their productivity - you can't compare to Europe. Go to an African office, too many staff but you'll sit the whole day waiting for something as simple a signature. Meanwhile you'll see workers just there drinking tea, chatting and on Facebook all through.Bro, we Africans are truly hard working. We just have a very corrupt and anti-people's government system. If you tell me East Asians are hardworking, I believe you, not present day westernerns. Present day westernerns are just very smart and very privileged to reap off the exploits and spoils their parents accumulated. ****** I don't know about Kenyans, but Nigerians who perform average here outcompete westernerns in their various fields of endeavours in their countries. Every Nigerian who arrives the west end up making great wealth within a period of time. |
genieluv:There you go @ NairobiWalker |
NairobiWalker:Ok. |
NairobiWalker:Same way you guys rub the western based poverty rates on our face and deny same western based GDP sources. It takes 2 to Tango afterall. ***** Besides when you talk about people being extremely poor in Nigeria, that poverty is overwhelmingly rural northern Nigeria, so it can never come into relationship on how must urban Nigerian men live their lifestyles of spoiling women. ~~~~ Westerners say anyone who cannot spend 2 dollars a day is extremely poor. In Nigeria, that is about #750. Less than that amount of money can get someone nutritious 3 squire meals in Northern Nigeria. That's why they call these people extremely poor, but this same people are well fed and very healthy. Shouldn't extremely poor people be sickly, hopeless & starving ?? You yourself, do some reasoning on this. Remove the sake of arguing and judge it with common sense. Please just stop.Imagine you comparing Europeans who have a very different working government and history with Igbos, WHILE I was comparing my people and Igbos who are under the same government and share a common history and heritage. **** What you could have done is compare people from Advanced nations who spoil their women and those who don't. Nowenuse is so right afterall when he said Kenyans lack good use of analogies. Sometimes the analogies you guys bring just makes one shakes her head. ~~~ Igbos have a very materialistic society that pushes them to work harder and that is why they may be richer on average than the other Nigerians, nothing else. Ask any Nigerian and even the Igbos themselves, they will agree with you that Igbos marry at a later age than anyone else. I even heard that in some parts of Igbo land, you must build a house in your village before marriage, whereas in some other Nigerian tribes you can even get married in your father's house as a man ![]() >>>> There is no other difference between Igbos and others Nigerians. I wish you could point it out. You guys just wanna argue everything including our own cultures and lifestyles over here ![]() Lady, I know somebody who owns a mansion when I see one. See, there are some pretty well off Nigerians here who rent nice apartments and live a good life and nobody would doubt they have mansions back home but telling me somebody who shares a bedsitter with 5 other men and came here shortly but when the Visa expired he couldn't afford an air ticket back home thus resorted to 'hustling' has a mansion at home is just stupid. Nobody would build a mansion back in Nigeria and come here and live worse than a college student whose village fundraised to pay his school fees.Well, I can't argue this anymore cos I don't know anything about Nigerians living in Kenya and how they live their lives. Until I witness first hand, then I will judge. ***** However, I can't take your biased views any seriously. Many women will support materialism because it works to their advantage. 99.9% of the time, a materialistic relationship involves a man giving and a woman receiving. However, there's nothing good comes out of materialism. There are many reasons Southern Nigeria is richer than Northern Nigeria but I can assure you materialism is not one of them. It's just that a richer society doesn't always have the better culture than a poorer society. I know several men, including my uncle, who got nice jobs at a very young age but never made progress in life because they were busy spoiling women and the society pushed by young women was busy convincing them how real men spoil women and how it's ungentlemanly not to spoil a woman.I don't really support materialism. However I don't support absolute non-materialism. I prefer a balance between both, cos I have seen the pros and cons of both. ***** Have you wondered why 99% of the people's names you see disgracing Nigeria outside Nigeria are Southern Nigerians? At same time an amazing percentage of those making Nigeria proud outside are same Southern Nigerians? Some may think illiteracy of northern Nigerians is the cause, but that is largely untrue because we in the middlebelt are just as educated as the South. Materialism is the answer.... If you still think it's not, then pls I look forward to you to tell me the reason for the discrepancy. |
rvp20183:Why then do Kenyans sing many of their songs in English? Why do they also write in English among themselves online in their social network space? ***** Even, northern Nigerians use more of Hausa online amongst themselves compared to how much you guys use swahili. |
rvp20183:Kenyan rural dwellers are not as self sufficient as those of rural northern Nigeria. And Kenya is not as cheap as Nigeria. |
ednited:I use the language, dressing and funny enough skin tones. **** I've watched quite enough Ethiopian musics to be able to tell the difference in the language and traditional attires. ••••• I discovered that Tigrays tend to be lightest in skin tone on average, perhaps buttressing their greater semitic mixture. Amharas tend to be lighter than Oromos but not as light as Tigray. Oromos look closer to other Africans compared to Amharas or Tigrays. >>>> Somalis look quite different. I can hardly mistake them for Habeshas, but i could mistake them for Oromos. |
NairobiWalker:Beauty, Elegance, Grace, Charisma, Body and Intelligence are among the factors used to judge a beauty queen. And all of these were found in the Nigerian lady. You can't take somebody like Lupita there and expect her to win no matter how intelligent or graceful she is. ***** Here is my problem with your hypocrisy. You judge the Entire Ethiopia based on Habesha women but you judge the entire Nigeria based on Southern Nigerian women? Yes!, Nigerian Hausa, Fulani, Shuwa Arab and other Northern Nigerian women can give Ethiopian Habesha women a run for their money when it comes to facial beauty! Those are not my opinions, those are the opinions of the average Kenyan man towards Nigeria women. Trust me, I'm not saying this for the sake of arguing.Do you want me to link you back to the picture contest of Nigerian/Kenyan women we embarked on in the past? I'm not sure you were the Kenyan involved. Just say yes! Kenyan women don't come in the same shape either, that's common sense. But on average, Nigerian women have wide shoulders and wide faces.***** How can someone say Lupita is more endowed than Yemi Alade or Tiwa Savage? We watched 12 years of a slave when Lupita was stripped naked and flogged. Should we go and bring the scene and past it here comparing them with music videos of Tiwa Savage & Yemi Alade? Don't make us take this to the next level by serious picture and video posting o! You can tell me Corazon Kwamboka is more endowed, not Lupitia. ***** Same Corazon that denigrated all Black African men before her white boyfriend. Highly buttressing the inability of Kenyan men to handle a real African woman. Perhaps you haven't seen this thread? https://www.nairaland.com/3772641/loyal-servant-life-kenyan-lady No Nigerian woman can dare such when we have so many Nigerian men to treat us right and spoil us better than other men. Well, I can only speak for East Africans and specifically Kenyans. Maybe you can tell me why other West Africans don't want you. All I know, in Kenya,Which other group of women desire Kenyan men and are obsessed with them. I'd like to know. **** Kenyan men are very local and pretty much do not see beyond their localities. Same with most East & Southern African men. How many Kenyan men marry Habesha women? Few of course, in spite of how much you idolize them. I can bet Habesha women marry more Nigerian men even though you are next door neighbours. Can you show me 10 Kenyan + Habesha marriages of note? (Pls don't show me those of Oromo Kenyan and Oromo Ethiopian or Somali Kenyan/ Somali ethiopian. I mean pure Kenyan Bantu/Nilotes and Habesha women).***** ~~~It's so surprising that the best and biggest entertainer in Kenya had to settle for a Nigerian girl. This buttresses my point along. Nigerian women can only look the way of extremely enlightened and wealthy men in other parts of Africa. It's so good that the everyday Kenyan man doesn't think of us, cos we are way above their league. We can only manage the best of the best Kenyan men ![]()

NairobiWalker:No East African or even Southern or Central African nation has a lingua franca dominant in it's country that isn't the native language of the ethnic majority. (except Horn African nations like Ethiopia). **** Widely used lingua francas have never been an African thing throughout history, not especially East and Southern Africa where there was no wide travelling and trade amongst the local tribes (not until the Arabs arrived at the coasts). ~~~ So, believing an African language lingua franca would have emerged besides Swahili which would have had as much influence as Swahili is nothing but wishful thinking. Empires are another reason besides trade for the spread of lingua francas and we all know East Africa (outside horn africa) never had any empires or widely propagated cultures. **** So, you guys should continually be grateful to the Arabs for giving you and helping you mobilize the best thing you could ever be proud of ![]() PS....... Hausa has a lot of Arab and other languages involvement too. No language is an island. You're just trying hard to discredit Swahili as an African language.Hausa incorporated Arabic words into their language because of islam. They did it through the Koran and not through Arab contact. The original Hausa words for every arabic used word in Hausa language are still intact and also used. Otherwise, We never had contact with Arabs. ***** I'm not trying to discredit swahili, just trying to point out the hypocrisy of you guys trying to discredit Nigerian pidgin while you take pride in Swahili which would never have existed without the Arabs who helped you create and mobilize the language among yourselves. |
NairobiWalker:Ok. ~~~ You seem to have omitted my last 2 paragraphs again On Kisumu or the local politics of Nairobi. |
NairobiWalker:Change is instantaneous. Tell anyone China would be a world power some decades ago and it would unbelievable. **** They started the reformations few decades ago and voila, here they are. So, you saying even in a 1000 years Nigeria cannot wield so much influence shows you are not in touch with history. |
NairobiWalker:I see the way you Kenyans type swahili here, so much english between it. Even on your social network space among you fellow Kenyans, you still type much in English. **** Most of your modern songs are in English or have more of English in them. I have seen pure Kenyan stand up comedies and movies, and a lot of what they say is English mixed with Swahili. Then I wonder if these are not enough facts for me to conclude that educated Kenyans heavily mix English & Swahili unlike in Tanzania where you hardly hear any word of English in their daily lives, musics, movies, social media space or anything. Not even in their news or interviews with their government officials. |
NairobiWalker:Nigerians are judged to be so poor by western statisticians who just cannot comprehend how people survive in rural northern Nigeria without spending cash. *****Otherwise, Nigeria definitely has a far higher percentage (not just population) of the richest black Africans. About spoiling women, maybe that's why you're poor. There's a thin line between treating your woman right a just being a fool.Actually, the culture of spoiling women makes men richer. Let me tell you how. In Nigeria, if you compare let's say, the Igbos and we middlebelters, the Igbos are far richer than us. This is because they have a very materialistic society which causes their men to work more harder and smarter. ***** In many parts of Igbo land, you must spend millions of Naira just to marry a wife (pay her brideprice). This culture drives many young Igbo guys to make serious money from an early age. Like I told your brother Naijalander, you'll find 5 Nigerians here in Nairobi sharing a bedsitter (a bedsitter is a self contained one-room house - I don't know how you call it in Nigeria) yet the same fools will walk into a club and spend all their money on strange women they don't even know. You wonder, why can't these people use the few coins on affording a better life for themselves - like move in a better bigger house? There's nothing romantic about that, it's just foolishness that will eventually see you die a poor man. No Kenyan or South African man can entertain such nonsense.Let me clear some things for you. Most Nigerians you see living such lives in Kenya may have big mansions and projects back in their hometowns. They even do such here in Nigeria sometimes. Unless those guys are into internet fraud, then that is their way. ***** They may not be interested in living large in Kenya cos they know they are only there for the fraud and nothing else. They're not interested in establishing their lives there. Fraudulent money keeps coming in, in the minds of those Nigerians, so they spend it stupidly. Materialism is killing your society. Nothing to be proud of. I am afraid though it's finding it's way into Kenyan women but based on what you guys say about Nigerian women and the attitude I observe amongst Nigerians here, yours is worse.Materialism is one of the reasons Southern Nigeria is far richer and more progressive than Northern Nigeria. **** It is one of the reasons capitalist outcompete socialists and also one of the reasons Americans outcompete Europe. It has pros and cons. |
NairobiWalker:Well, your opinions are highly false. I have posted my picture here before and I didn't have the features you posted. The first black African to win a miss world didn't have the features you posted. Who then does? ***** I can remember we had a picture posting contest about ladies and body shapes between Kenya and Nigeria in the past and we even won. Don't forget that Nigerian ladies come in different looks. Yoruba women do not look like Hausa-fulani women on average while Igbo women do not look like Ijaw women on average. The most famous Kenyan woman (Lupita) doesn't have a mesmerizing body figure. So I wonder how you guys arrive at your lame and baseless statistics. ••••• Besides let us assume you are right. Why do Nigerian women still don't intermarry other West African men in spite of the fact that we and them look the same? Or can we go by your point and say other west African men also find Nigerian women to have wide faces unlike their women? When we all look the same? You can see that your point truly holds no water. Nigerian women are not interested in other African men not just because of looks, but because of styles and attitudes. We tend to just see our men as the best when it comes to stylishness. |
NairobiWalker:Kingozi wouldn't have enjoyed lingua franca status without Arab mobilization, it would have remained as one of the native languages of the coast spoken by only a handful of people. ***** Yes you are correct that Swahili is still a Bantu language, just that it would never never have become widespread as it is without the Arab involvement. >>>> If there is any language that should be praised in Africa for being a naturally spread lingua franca, it should Hausa. No foreigners were involved in the spread of Hausa in any way, yet it has about 100 million non native speakers. |
NairobiWalker:Ok, interesting. **** So, apart from Swahili & English, which language is most likely to be heard on the streets of Nairobi? Which ethnicity dominates local politics in Nairobi county? You seem to have omitted my question on Kisumu. |
NairobiWalker:Hahahaha, (In Travis Scott's voice) Stop tryna be God..... That's not who you are .... ![]() |
NairobiWalker:Do you have to visit the US, India or China for you to have an idea of how these people speak? Smh. |
Nowenuse:Thank you. I try my best. If I don't educate them, who will ![]() |
Jonraid:OMG, maybe I would have to use a swahili translator. **** Where does Nigeria come into my comparison? I am analyzing the huge discrepancy between advanced nations, where did Nigeria come into my analogy? ~~~~ Answer my question on the discrepancy between these advanced nations since you claim that life expectancy is synonymous to wealth. Your failure to do this makes complete rubbish of your assertions. |
Jonraid:Get my analogy here. I am doing a comparison of wealth and life expectancy. ***** Why should some countries live up to 7 years higher than Americans if life expectancy was all about wealth and poverty? Answer my question to prove your assertion, don't tell me if US life expectancy is modest or not, cos 7 years is no joke. ••••• 78 may be modest to your eyes but to those of Japanese and Koreans, it is not. |
tlann:Yes.... Only a little differences. I used to think it was very different until I watched a Liberian documentary on TV. I could understand almost everything they were saying even without the subtitles. |
Ibrahimanis: It seems to be all they have and all they may ever have ![]() |
darfay:This is the pure undiluted truth. **** Tanzanians are just like the true native owners of swahili. They speak and sing with the language in a very melodious and sweet way. |
tlann:Hahaha, no dear. Pidgin is also widely used in Ghana, Cameroon, Benin republic, Sierra Leone & Liberia ![]() |
NairobiWalker:A slum is a slum, even when it has no name? ***** Why do slums in every part of the world have names, but those of Nigeria do not have accurate names that describe the entirety of those so called slums? ~~~ Why is Makoko so so so different from all the other areas you guys classify as slums in Nigeria? Sometimes our brains should do more work than our mouths. |
NairobiWalker:Many Kenyans communicate with each other in English. ~~~~ I also noticed Kenyans hardly make a complete sentence in swahili without a huge chunk of it being in English. Only Tanzanians I observe who can speak swahili for hours and days without a single word of English. |
Jonraid:Keep on dreaming. Nigeria has been leading Africa in online marketing with a wide margin for years. https://guardian.ng/business-services/nigeria-leads-south-africa-others-in-online-shopping/amp |
NairobiWalker:Who ever thought the Roman empire will collapse? Tell the Romans this same thing millenia ago that their descendants will end up speaking and taking pride in vulgar latin, they will say you are mad What is happening today?~~~~ American English which was a corruption of British English is now taking over the world and heavily displacing the original British English. Life has proven itself heavily unpredictable throughout history. **** At the height of the British empire centuries ago, tell them that their children would one day take pride in the identity of American lifestyle, they would have said God forbid, cos then even American born Europeans were regarded as untrained, ill-mannered and far away from home cultured savage individuals. |
Kazikazi:If Pidgin is made official in Nigeria. It will then be standardized and in no time become the most spoken language in Africa. |
NairobiWalker:This is nice. Clearly, swahili is not a threat to Kenyan native languages unlike Tanzania. **** What ethnic group are the natives of Nairobi/environs? I heard Kisumu is a Luo city. So, what language is most likely to be spoken on the streets of Kisumu? Luo, Swahili or English? |
Jonraid:We have moved on to online markets and online shopping. It's more progressive than the stress of navigating crowded malls ![]() |

On Kisumu or the local politics of Nairobi.
