False..... interesting how you lie yet insist Nigerians don't lie on this thread.

Nigeria last had a civil war in 1960s, as late as September this year, Reuters reported cases of starvation in Nigeria. See? Were it a Kenyan you'd have already labeled us Kenyans.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/mobile.reuters.com/article/amp/idUSKCN1LK2BV

Another lie - if starvation is alien to Nigeria, then it's alien to the rest of the world. You're simply giving me reasons why people starve all over the world and claiming Nigerians don't starve unless those reasons happen. grin

There you go again giving me reasons why Nigerians brag. See, they brag. Giving me a reason why they brag doesn't make them less of braggarts. To make it worse, they don't even have the bragging rights.

Don't explain how the title came, thing is, you call yourself a giant when you really are not yet still complain about Kenyans painting a rosy picture of their country. Hypocrisy.

You don't believe in it but find no issue with your brothers doing it yet when a Kenyan does it, it irks you. Hypocrite.

Are you even listening to yourself? You used attitudes of Kenyans on this thread to judge most Kenyans yet complain that I'm using attitudes of Nigerians on this thread to judge most Nigerians.

/I should expect Nigerians to brag/ to cut it short, you're mad at Kenyans for daring Brag about their little achievements but completely okay with Nigerians for bragging about their similarly little achievements. How hypocritical can somebody get? Reason I said I prefer open haters like bantudra than wolves in sheepskin like you.

***** From your comment, it is very clear that it is impossible to have a reasonable discussion with you devoid of insultive words. So, I think I'll pass. I rather spend my time with a more reasonable and courteous individual, otherwise I'll bring myself down to your level. Have a good evening smiley

**** Besides can you and forgiveness please tell me what this obsession with sky scrappers are? European cities do not have much sky scrappers, yet they are deemed some of the best and most liveable cities in the world with the best economies.

A bigoted mind of cause is selectively blind of cause. It'll only see what it wants to see. For one, just a few hours ago, your brother forgiveness claimed there's a tower in Lagos called Ministry of communication tower. I'm yet to hear you call him on that.

Personally, I don't even know anything about these sky scrappers and their names.

Thank you for at least being logical. Now let's get them one by one.

1. The 3 Azuri towers are not topped out yet. We agreed on only topped out towers. That leaves you with 10.

2. The Ministry of Communication tower does not exist. The ministry of communication headquarters in Lagos are housed in Necom tower which you already posted. Basically you listed the same building twice. Please genieluv, come call out your brother in his lies now that you're the lies caller of this thread. That leaves you with 9.

3. Independence House in Lagos stands at 83m hence does not qualify to be a skyscraper. https://hotels.ng/places/building/1194-independence-house

That leaves you with 8.

4. 4 Bourdilon tower is not 100m. That leaves you with 7.

......at 7 you think you can compete with Nairobi's 14? Even if I remove the 3 Avic towers, we're still left with 11 - way more than your 7. When we tell you our competition is in South Africa, we mean it.

You can see that forgiveness has replied your post grin

**** Trust me, this argument has existed before on sky scrappers and I saw how there were so many counter arguments. I really can't tell who is lying here or saying the truth other than reading sheepishly, perhaps till one person taps out.

gems like Nigerians run business in African countries, the giant of Africa, Nigerians are the most good looking Africans, there are no slums in Nigeria (when we can clearly see them), no one starves in Nigeria (when it's well known Nigeria has one of the highest malnutrition in the world with among the lowest life expectancy). I mean - your brothers wouldn't be believing in such absurdity if there wasn't any blind patriotisim in Nigeria.

I don't get the enthusiasm of Nigerians towards their country either especially considering your economy has been shrinking for the past 5 years.

These 2 more points.

***** Yes, Nigerians starve, but the truth is that this only happens in the case of a civil disturbance like a war or uprising.
The entire landmass of Nigeria is fertile and the cultures of 98% of the population are agragrian.
So, if tens of millions of people farm to produce food year in year out, how practical is it for them to starve? Assess it yourself and judge for yourself.

Boko haram displaced millions of people from their homes, and these people are all farmers. Of course there would be starvation. Outside all this. Starvation is alien to Nigeria.

>>>>> About Nigerian business men running businesses in the continent. (sighs). I can't say, cos I do not know much business related stuff.
South Africans have the largest and most influential businesses in Africa, so, if any one should brag about that, it's them. However, Nigeria has the richest man and some of the richest people in Africa and their business span across the continent. We also have a tribe like the Igbos who are extremely good in business and have apparently developed one of the best apprenticeship system in the world.
These may be the reasons why Nigerians brag about this, but as usual, sometimes it's definitely an exxageration.

++++ That giant of Africa title I guess came about in the 60s when Nigeria truly seemed like the giant of Africa.

I myself do not believe that title and do not see the need for it, cos it's all about bragging.

~~~~ If you think the attitudes of Nigerians on this thread is the daily attitude of most Nigerians, then you must be mistaken. Most Nigerians criticize our country and only a few praise it. The ones here just feel the need to oppose the title of this thread.
Nigerian economy is shrinking, but as long as Nigeria is accepted as the continent's largest economy, expect many to brag about it. However I personally don't see anything special in that, afterall we have the largest population, so, anything short of this would be shameful.
Kenyans are as patriotic as any other people in Africa. Going by what I read on this thread, Nigerians aren't different - you've been posting a picture way way way more rosy than what's actually on ground - gems like Nigerians run business in African countries, the giant of Africa, Nigerians are the most good looking Africans, there are no slums in Nigeria (when we can clearly see them), no one starves in Nigeria (when it's well known Nigeria has one of the highest malnutrition in the world with among the lowest life expectancy). I mean - your brothers wouldn't be believing in such absurdity if there wasn't any blind patriotism in Nigeria.
I don't get the enthusiasm of Nigerians towards their country either especially considering your economy has been shrinking for the past 5 years.
grin This sentence is ridiculously self contradicting. grin. How can we not be criticizing the government when we are painting a gloomy picture of ourselves?
You've definitely never been to Kenyan social media, lol. Kenyans could be the biggest critics of their government on this planet. Please, follow a Kenyan on Twitter or join a Kenyan Facebook group - stop talking out of ignorance.
Again, you've always been an ignorant girl. The last time you were here you were going on on how Kenyans are dark skinned and not good looking, now you're saying the most ridiculous thing one could ever say.
Kenyans have been known to be the harshest critics of themselves - after traveling through East Africa, most people will tell you for instance that the only reason Kenya is ranked as the most corrupt country in East Africa is because we criticize our government too much and make everyone see it's weaknesses.
You're beyond being enlightened. You're extremely ignorant.
First of all. Let me address the tone of your language. You sound so insultive. You need to stop that if we are going to get into any meaningful discussion to learn from each other.
*****You can see that I left this thread and nairaland as a whole for more than a year, this was because I noticed that this forum started turning me into what I wasn't.
I do not wish to tow that part again, hence please let us refrain from using insultive words on each other, thanks smiley
>>>> Firstly, I have learnt something from your post, and that is 'I shouldn't just pass my judgement with the views of the Kenyans here alone'. I truly have to be in a Kenyan forum with thousands of Kenyans, for me to be able to pass my judgements on how Kenyans criticize their government. That is settled. So, I don't think I will ever ask or talk about Kenyans being so secretive about their political discussions or Kenyans being so optimistic about the progress of their government.
~~~~@ Your first paragraph.
Yeah, I know there was a lot of bigotry in views in my past here and perhaps I need to apologize for those. I do so. I really can't even remember everything I said here or the views I supported more than a year ago.

Some Nigerians on this thread have criticized and berated our government and country, praising Kenya at the same time, including I myself. However, I haven't seen any Kenyan do likewise. Then I wonder who truly shows more blind patriotism between Nigerians and Kenyans.

+*+*+*+ About the points you raised in the first paragraph, beginning with issues of slums. It first of all depends on what we define as slums. If Kibera or Makoko is the basic definition of slums, then truly believe me, Nigeria does not have such (excpet Makoko of course).
However, if the favelas of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil are regarded as slums, then Nigeria has slums, because before unbiased views, there is a very very big difference between what Kibera or Makoko looks like and what the favelas of Brazil look like.

------About skintone, Nigerians and Kenyans should be about the same skin tone. Nigerians may only have more lightskin people because of our population.
Another factor is media presence. For instance, the coastal swahilis and perhaps Somalis should have the lightest skintones in Kenya, but these people are under-represented in Kenyan media, while in Nigeria, the Igbos who tend to have the highest population of lightskinned people dominate Nigerian movie industry.
Kenyan marathon runners are some of the most famous Kenyan people which we all see on Tv and apparently, they are mostly nilotes which tend to be darker skinned than Bantus and others.
As black Africans, We can't really say one group is more good looking than the other cos beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.
••••••••One factor you must consider though is that some cultures tend to value personal grooming than others. Even you Kenyans here have sometime admitted that Nigerians give preference to grooming of looks and appearance. From my point of view, that seems very true! I have observed that Kenyans do not seem to have this grooming culture compared to that of Nigerians and Tanzanians. Perhaps this is the reason why I and some other Nigerians find Tanzanians to be more charming than Kenyans (these are our personal views only).

¤¤¤¤ For example, all Westerners accept the fact that Eastern European women are more beautiful than western European women (you can do some googling on this if you are not aware of the stereotype).
Now, How come this discrepancy when Europeans are of a common stock? This is simply because the wave of feminism did not hit hard on Eastern Europe. Most eastern European women do not have the same mentality with that of western Europe. They believe more in good looks and being very feminine in order to attract a rich man to get married to, while Western women are more of working hard to make their own money to become richer, hence do not give much attention to looks.

So the issue of knowing a tribe of a dude doesn't carry a weight to us.we have more than 127 tribes which makes harder to know the tribe of someone.For those who uses their tribal surnames can be identified although isn't easy since we have many tribes sharing surnames!

Ok, thanks.

"Demography" as in,?

This has to be impossible with the kind of political tensions witnessed.
There must have been some serious compromise and exchanges, perhaps in secret which people may not be aware of.
That's one thing about some 'opposition fighters'. They sell themselves and their supporters for their own benefits.

Demography as in the geographical spread/division of Kenyans according to ethnic/religious/racial/linguistic divides.

Hahahaha @the bolded. We have so many of such people in Nigeria here. They even claim to be able to cure HIV/Aids, Terminal cancer, brain tumor and all other sicknesses that even advanced medicine cannot treat grin

But any way, in every nonsense there is some sense.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3158503/

https://mamalette.com/blog/pregnancy/ask-mamalette-what-is-traditional-womb-setting-and-massaging/amp/

Can you see the links above? These people are actually good in what they do.
When I was in Port Harcourt, I witnessed a neighbour who had a terrible accident and the medical doctors adviced that his leg had to be amputated. Trust the Ijaw natives of the city, they took the man to a traditional bone setter. I accompanied them, so it's not as if I was told some story. Lo and behold, that man is walking today with his legs very well and he is healthy and sound.
These traditional bone setters work like magic. They use their bare hands to reset, re-adjust and re-allign the bones, muscles, nerves and everything else.

Same way you have the womb setters. When doctors advice women to go for a surgery, they seek the help of these traditional women and these women do the work better than medical doctors.
