Akshow:With due respect to him and his dead sister, he never looked so sad at the thousands of people gruesomely murdered and many more thousands still in the cages of Boko Haram as when he lost just one person. As a President and Commander-In-Chief, how much price does he place on our lives? |

Has anyone observed that "where the snail goes, its shell goes with it"? Wherever Jonathan goes his vice, Sambo also goes with him. In contrast, Buhari goes to Yenogoa and commands a big crowd, Osinbajo goes to Osun and he likewise commands a great crowd. If #TeamBuhariOsinbajo are taking advantage of delegation and division of labour to cover more grounds and save time, that suggests there will be greater productivity and efficiency when they work together as President and Vice President. Just an observation of what I think Nigerians should expect in governance. |
I've been trading forex since late 2009 through Alpari. My concern with them is U have to "Open Dorm Acct" and funding will take like 10 days. No bonus on deposit, rather, their receiving bank.will deduct about $35 from ur deposit. All these became a thing of d to past once I switched to Instaforex. Meanwhile, my only concern is I'm suspecting these guys TRADE AGAINST THEIR CLIENTS. From my training and experience in forex trading, they always make me feel like a newbie each time I trade my real acct, but if it's the demo acct, I feel like a pro. |
It is my considered opinion that capable men and women who love God and love the people must offer themselves to serve when the opportunity arises, for, as Plato said, “the price good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men”. - Pastor Tunde Bakare. And when good men offer themselves, it's up to the people to be wise enough to elect them to manage their common resources, because in the end "a people will get the government they deserve". I've been following the hullabaloo that has greeted the news that the APC Presidential flag bearer, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari did not present his academic credentials to INEC and, with all sense of patriotism, I think we all need to get something straight, formal education doesn't guarantee good governance and lack of it is not an indication of absence of leadership skills and other personality attributes necessary to perform and deliver on the KPIs of Good Governance. My thoughts are better captured in the following post by Festus Eriye, in response to a statement credited to Professor Wale Oladipo in The Nation Newspaper today. "PDP National Secretary, Professor Wale Oladipo, says this February Nigerians will have to choose between Goodluck Jonathan the PhD holder and Muhammadu Buhari, the ‘semi-illiterate’ jackboot. Oladipo isn't saying Buhari cannot read and write in English, Hausa or Arabic. He isn't accusing him of not passing through the precincts of some primary, secondary or military school. The former head of state has been forcibly demoted to the ranks of the illiterate because he didn’t attend a university. Thankfully for the APC candidate that is no hindrance to his aspirations as the constitution only requires him to have secondary school education – a conditions he more than meets. Given that Oladipo is some sort of professor it is amazing he does not understand that mighty accomplishments are not a function of your string of degrees. Some of the greatest business leaders the world has ever known are either university dropouts or never even had the tertiary education experience. Names like Microsoft founder and one of the world’ s richest men, Bill Gates; Oracle founder, Larry Ellison, worth $28 billion who dropped out of University of Chicago; Chelsea Football Club owner , Roman Abramovich, worth $11.2 billion – a college dropout who once sold plastic toys out of his small apartment in Russia. But the most interesting example is Britain’s war time Prime Minister Winston Churchill who had a very poor academic record in school. He struggled through three independent schools before ending up at the famous Harrow School. After leaving Harrow he applied to attend the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. He would make three attempts before passing the entrance examination. Although he never went to university, Churchill is today regarded as one of the greatest wartime leaders of the 20 th century. He is the only British Prime Minister to have won the Nobel Prize in Literature since its inception in 1901, and has been voted the greatest Briton ever. Strong leadership comes from your innate character traits, not the number of paper qualifications on your wall . Enough said." Source: www.thenationonlineng.net/new/phd-illiterate/ My question to all Nairalanders: If Nigeria is a company under us as a Board of Directors, would we rather employ an incompetent business manager with strings of certificates or one who can very well deliver, but without much certificates? |

Fr. Mbaka appears resolute in his quest for a change at the central after this year's general elections. He didn't stop at that, he actually asked the people to vote for Buhari. A report from AIT today says, and I quote "A renowned Catholic Priest known as Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, during his New Year sermon titled ‘From Goodluck To Badluck” on Thursday, urged President Goodluck Jonathan to abandon his re-election bid so that the All Progressives Congress candidate, Maj.Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) can emerge the winner of the presidential election next month. Jonathan has disappointed Nigerians and cannot deliver the dividends of democracy to the people, the cleric said. Rev. Mbaka continuously knelt down in front of the altar, cried and asked God to give Nigeria a good leader and not Jonathan. He used the opportunity to beg Nigerians to vote wisely in the forthcoming elections. He said, “I love President Goodluck Jonathan and I used to be his ardent fan, but I want good for my people and that’s why I want Nigerians to vote out Goodluck Jonathan and vote General Muhammad Buhari. I don’t care if Buhari is a Muslim and from the North; all I care about is that Buhari can save Nigeria." He said he had never met the APC candidate but urged Nigerians not to forget that Buhari fought corruption to a standstill during his administration between December 1983 and August 1985." Now, for a spiritual leader who once believed in Mr. President but now has turned against him, what do you think has happened? Could there be more to it than meets the eye or is it another sincere call for change? Source: www.aitonline.tv/post-step_down_for_buhari___rev__mbaka_tells_jonathan

Good morning friends and special welcome to year 2015. Some of you are fast accepting the rate at which ur smartphone consumes data, thinking "nothing I can do about it". U should be free to use the mobile internet on ur own terms, but U should not allow ur device use ur data for U the way it likes. To achieve this, U need 2 first know the data thieves. Those I found most culpable in 'eating' data are: 1) When U STREAM VIDEOS, ur Android Smartphone/Tablet won't be merciful on ur data, 2) It seems to be a sort of crime to have soo many apps on ur phone and U don't control their BACKGROUND DATA consumption. U can get there thru Settings => Data Usage and scroll below d graph to reveal the apps, starting with d highest consumer and tap to open whichever U choose to restrict the background data. 3) How about autosync, images and video auto-download in ur mails, WhatsApp (not all images and videos are of value, so disable them by default), Google Chrome (U shd use Opera more cos Chrome really eats data, though it has an option to "compress data), etc? 4) Maybe you also enjoy the feature of using ur smartphone as a modem for other devices. (Cool). But unless really necessary, keep to using d phone. So, the key is TAKING CONTROL. If anyone has some other methods of achieving reduction in data consumption, pls drop it here for others' benefits. Enjoy ur smart device.

Two-hundred and sixty-two days after their daughters were kidnapped from school, some of the distraught parents of the students of Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, on Thursday criticised President Goodluck Jonathan for not fulfilling his promise to rescue the girls from the custody of Boko Haram. The abduction of the 219 girls from their hostel at night on April 14, 2014 has attracted global outrage and the President had promised several times that the girls would be rescued alive. Nine of the abducted girls’ parents, during their meeting with the BringBackOurGirls group on Thursday in Abuja, carpeted the President for failing to bring back the schoolgirls. The leader of the parents, Rev. Mark Enoch, accused the government of having a hand in the abduction of the girls, noting that the principal of the school in Chibok had, few hours before the abduction, locked the girls in their hostel and warned them not to leave. Enoch explained that the relatives of the principal and the school matron were able to rescue their daughters from the sect, leaving other girls in captivity. “This is intentional, the hand of government is in the kidnapping; we want the government to bring back our girls. If they cannot do it alone, they should seek the assistance of the United Nations and some advanced countries, the distressed father said. The cleric, who appreciated the BBOG for not giving up on the girls, noted that but for the activities of the coalition, the issue of the girls would have been forgotten given the remote location of the Chibok community. Another parent, Mrs. Samuel Abana, asked the President to fulfil the promise he made in July, 2014, when he met with the parents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The President had told the parents that the government would secure the release of the girls. Abana, who broke down in tears while speaking, recalled that the Federal Government had initially denied the abduction before Jonathan met with the parents and pledged to rescue their daughters. “I want to remind the President of his promise when he met with us; he promised to rescue our daughters, he said he would bring the girls back, but six months later, there is no result. Mr. President, will you fail to rescue them, if your daughter is abducted? If you can’t do it alone, invite the United Nations to come and rescue our daughters,” she said. Another parent, Bulama Jonah, recalled how the school principal sent his daughter home because she had not paid N300 for testimonial certificate, adding that the girls had just two subjects to do in their examinations before they were taken away by their abductors. “The saddest thing was that my daughter was sent home because of N300 just a day before she was kidnapped; I gave her the money for her testimonial and she went back to school only for her to be abducted,” he said. Mrs. Martha Enoch said she was tired of government’s failed promises, and urged it to take whatever action was necessary to rescue the seized girls. “Government kept saying they would bring back the girls, but if they can’t bring them alive, they should bring their dead bodies,” she stated. The BBOG lamented the failure of the President to mention the issue of the Chibok girls in his New Year broadcast, stressing that it showed that the government did not care about them. Few days after the girls were abducted, Boko Haram claimed responsibility for the kidnapping. It released a video of the girls while the sect’s leader, Abubakar Shekau, boasted that the young girls, most of who were said to be Christians, had been converted to Islamic religion and that they would be given out in marriages at a token. While unconfirmed reports said that some of the girls had died of snake bite in the forest where they were kept, a handful had escaped from the insurgents’ captivity. The United Nations in August had announced rehabilitation facilities for the escaped Chibok girls. In a statement on the UN website, the United Nations Population Fund had said that it was working in collaboration with the World Health Organisation and the United Nations Children’s Fund to set up clinics to provide health screening for any of the girls coming back, as well as educating those who had escaped. The representative of the UNFPA in Nigeria, Ms. Rati Ndhlovu, had also been quoted as saying, “The girls are running from home and they have no menstruation pads and have nothing to use. They need water. They need the basic things that keep a woman dignified.” Source: The Punch Newspaper, Jan. 1, 2015 http://www.punchng.com/news/chibok-schoolgirls-parents-blast-jonathan/ |
