ok can I ask u a question... what wud have been ur reply if the person i.e d prophet was igbo?...
I would have said that the messiah of our time could be found anywhere in the country. There are good Hausas, Fulanis, Ijaw, Yorubas, Igbos, Urhobo, Ikwerres and Edos all over the country but the mainstream politicians ll never allow them to smell d seat of power; the likes of Fashola, Soludo and Sanusi.....

EUROBOMBER:
The Igbo will surely take their rightful place in Nigeria. God has destined an Igbo man that will lead Nigeria to greatness soon. Everybody should wait and see how God will orchestrate circumstances to bring this prophecy to pass.

Thank God this vision was given to a Yoruba man by God.

Jonathan's presidency was designed by God for a purpose and this will become clearer with time. I had thought that from Jonathan power will move to the North but obviously God has other better plans. Power just might move to the SE within Jonathan's second term.

God bless Nigeria!
I strongly believed that if the same prophet has mistakenly named a Yoruba man as a potential messiah, your music would have been different by now.

You know what, you don't need a soothsayer/prophet to tell you how your future would look like; it's all down to you. pls take a proper look at south east as whole and see if you can entrust your destiny and that of your born/unborn children in the hands of any politicians from that region. Since 1960, Igbo politicians have played active roles in every single administration(military and civilian) and none of these politicians has national appeal.

Let's take a proper look at Jonathan administration as a case study. Jonathan govt is as good as any Igbo govt cos Igbos occupied every sensitive governmental positions under Jonathan govt but d administration remain d most corrupt and inept admin in the history of this country.

Messiah are everywhere across the country; it's not limited to south east, South west or North west; mmessiah of this country could come from anywhere.

My friend, stop deceiving yourself

@Op, please don't do this to yourself. I don't know you but I feel your pains.

The beauty of our existence on earth depends on what you want and how you go about it. It's in your hand my friend and I can tell u that you have got great future ahead of you.

Remember a gentleman called Djbola, he is a soldier; he fought like a gallant soldier for his precious soul despite life wasn't fair to him. He fought death with all his strength and heaven witnessed it. Despite where he was, he kept hoping, hoping and hoping..........The same life (which was like a gold to Djbola at the point of death); this great guy vehemently fought for, is what God has given you without any struggle(sickness) attached to it and free of charge. I believe that If Djbola was to have been asked to swap life with u on his sick bed, trust me, Djbola would have jumped on the offer without thinking twice. Why? Cos he has hope and that hope is all u need as a man.

If you kill that special soul; the soul that was heavenly given to you as a gift so as to achieve your dreams on earth. Guess what, not only would it turn out that you have fail on earth as result of robbing that soul of its dream on earth but you have equally fail in heaven. And d peace you are searching for after death would definitely elude u. Please, there are souls that are heavenly attached to you as a great man on earth and the manifestation of this greatness is just days away from u.

If everybody has rejected u, I ll not. I am with u as a brother and friend. I love u.

It's quite sad that democracy has finally and completely destroyed Nigeria; shamefully brought Africa at large on its knees. I remember the pace of development of Abuja city and the satellite towns during Babangida and Abacha regime; it's unprecedented and unrivalled development.

The provision and maintenance of social infrastructure within Abuja municipal area and the satellite towns under these two regimes is nothing but amazing.

Green bins and all recycling rubbish are taken at appropriate time, keeping to your appointments without having headache about traffic, 24hrs Power supply, apology from NEPA OR WATER AGENCY all over our TV before carrying out any major maintenance work which might affect daily activities of people living in d city.

Military government is the best form of government for Africa as whole but African slaves master(The western world) knows that it ll be very difficult for them to control military government, thus stylishly force democracy on us so as to control our destinies. All their attempts to destroy communism in China and Russia......

People like you hold Nigeria back because you don't want to admit it needs major improvement. I save my proper English writing for when it matters, not when it comes to engaging fools like you!!!
You r an idiott.

Halfwit, take a look at my moniker; my name is Tokunboh; born and bred in UK. I am in Rochester, Kent at moment if that ll help u out of your mystery. I live here in UK and i see what the British police men do like Nigeria and America police every now and then.

What put u idiot in this situation is your inability to access satellite tv channels where u ll see both British and America police doing the same thing u r accusing Nigeria police of.

Why don't you go and display this same attitude that would make Nigeria police to attack you to British police men and see how your miserable life ll be handled by your glorified british police men? Slave mentality at its peak.

I never said Nigeria police men are perfect but don't come here and sell me that your slave mentality. If you want to see America and British police men (not all) atrocities, go online, watch history and crime channels as well as Youtube

Nigeria police men are very gentle, non-violent and nice compare to British and American Police men. If you see American or British police men in action; squeezing life out of u, beating and folding u like papers, then you ll know that Nigeria police men are the best.

Pls dont be deceived by their picture oooo

It's just like seeing their Universities environs on d their brochures/websites and you are like, Waoh!!!! but when u get here, Nigeria Universities are far better in terms of environment and building structures; all na packaging.

Nigeria police wouldn't abuse your rights as a Nigerian if they come for your arrest and you follow the given instructions. The only thing that wld probably trigger the animalistic attitude of Nigeria police men is your bad/violent/uncooperative attitude towards them and this same bad attitude is what American or British police men ll capitalise on and beat shiiiit out of ya.

EducationRe: Mention One Crazy Thing You Did In Secondary School by GentleToks(m):
I always got away with bad stuff cos of my gentle and innocent look but all came to an end on one fateful day. I got into a bet to slap a female head of senior prefects called Senior girl, way back in d days and I did. The whole teachers in that School that day heard d news and gathered all their canes and whipped devil out of me; I came out of staff room and nobody was able to recognise me again apart from my bird's voice which came to an existence as a result of Wazobia(yoruba, hausa, igbo teachers) beating

I got up to about 1,000 lashes of canes that day. I pretended as if I ve gone home and hide somewhere around the School gate with my rag uniform after d beating.

However, as soon as the teachers started driving out of the School gate, I started smashing their cars' windscreens with some of the stones I had gathered before d school closing time and I was able to smash about 3 cars before the teachers came out of their cars and started chasing me......

I didn't go back to that School till date. I went straight to Grandma house cos if my parents see me like that.......... That School might end up in Court and as a big boy then(That was how we felt then as teenagers), d last thing to do in tough situation like that was to bring your parents to school; big Bleep up among your bloods.

I was taken to another private school (missionary school called Don Bosco) with hope that I ll be ok. I got to that School around 1pm on my first day, with all my luggage. As I was stepping into my dormitory, I saw this lovely bird flying around and I thought to myself that this bird has got issue cos it couldn't fly so high. I ran after this lovely bird for about 30mins or thereabout. I eventually caught dis bird but as I was about to rejoice about my newly found friend, the seniors were standing right in front of me, asking me to bring down the bird to where they were. I was reluctant and determined not to be cheated, as i was walking towards them, I began to strangle d bird stylishly and killed d bird( May God forgive me). They nearly killed me that day.....

Finally, after couple of months in my new school, i had already beaten half of d guys in JSS 3 while I was in JSS 2. So they all resulted to use their brother in SS2 and 3 to intimidate me. After breakfast in d dinning hall on dat fateful day, some seniors called me to stay behind to look after someone's food that didn't turn up for his breakfast. I waited for couple of mins in dinning hall cos they have warned me not to leave the hall until d senior comes around but class was on while I was looking after a senior food. However, I started adding one to one and realised that they were trying to punish me by asking me to stay behind. I made up my mind, ate d food and went straight to my class.........

Lol!!! People are still surprised when old friends tell them how stubborn I was back in d days.

All I am saying is that wise people do not ask foolish questions. Now that the thread has been created is the question being debated? Or ha it generated to something else. That was very easy for any person with sense to predict. All your rationalization serves no other purpose than vainglory. The fact is we are not answering or discussing the question here and we will not. This thread will only serve the purpose of hate and abuse.
Why are u sticking to these bad eggs among the good ones if u r not part of them? Here in Europe, you ll see some of our brothers claiming that slavery was caused by our greedy and selfish forefathers who took advantage of their positions to sell their subjects into slavery but the funny thing is that these brothers and sisters are unconsciously selling their own fellow brothers and sisters to 21st century slavery by their every day actions at work. What I meant with this example is that you may be part of these bigoted few without knowing it.

Lol!!! It's quite easy for a debate to degenerate to tribal bashing when our words are not carefully chosen. To be honest, take a look at your write up and see your chosen words; why won't there be a tribal bashing and all that when you see other people opinions as being foolish?

We can't all be the same and for this singular reason, people who have different opinions or ideas to yours would always and continue to ask questions as to why some decision are taken by you. This does not mean that you are being bashed, they might wants to be well informed about your decision.

To this may seem rational and sensible to me it is a rationalization and justification.
If you have a neighbour who is a prostitute it is legitimate to wonder about sexually transmitted disease do we then approach her to ask if she has done HIV Test. Leave Eboes alone .
If an elder has bad breath we do not ask him if he washed his mouth and so your rationalization at best if I am to be polite is naive. We do not ask a man how his wife got pregnant. So asking stupid questions and trying to dress them up in specious logic may seem attractive to some but it is a stupid and offensive question all the same. The analogy yo provide with Scotland is quite childish and may appeal to weak minds. Go back and read the heading of the thread again. The mark of a wise man,an adult is he does not say or ask every question that enters his head.
Life could be funny sometimes! I used a proper nation/race - Scotland just like Biafra and Odua nation as a typical example, u faulted it but only for you to turn around and used peoples' disabilities such as bad breath and being a prostitute as an example.

If you are a prostitute around typical Nigerians, they will question your sanity and self - esteem but it's left for the prostitute to develop a thick skin which is always the case anyway or explain what led her to it so as to make people around her to see reason with her; it could be an economic reason or psychological one. And guess what, some of people who would question her as to why a decision to go into prostitution might end proffering a solution. Tackling that point of HIV that was raised by u, the first thing that comes to normal and sane humans when they have any encounter with a confirmed prostitute is asking d prostitute if she has already been HIV tested or not.

All I said is that we should always try and look at things from objective perspective rather than tribal perspective.

You are almost the only one who sees the question as innocent and well meaning. The question have not achieved anything so far but has increased the tension between the two tribes. It's no secret they take anything coming from another tribe to their own tribe as offensive. Even when you praise them and praise another tribe as well giving them almost the same qualities or different qualities, they would never be satisfied... they just have to reduce and ridicule that tribe especially if it's Yoruba... Why would anyone want to dabble into their affairs especially a Yoruba person. You need no soothsayer to know how they would react to this question posed by the OP.

Leave them to their affairs, I'm sure they know what they are doing.
Before I proceed, are you Igbo, Edo, Yoruba or others? Let me quickly say this, I know there are tribalists here who pick on every little things. However, these tribalists are equally divided to both sides but among all these tribalists, there are open-minded and unbiased minds who could debate about Nigeria politics without resulting to tribal bashing.

The point u made was clearly understood by me and respect your submission on this issue but you seemed not to get my point. I cited myself as a typical example as to what my reaction would be if anybody throw that question to me from the other divide-Igbos.

I put it to you that it's only the bigoted ones that would find anything like this question offensive. Let me cite Scotland as another typical example here, last year, Scotland voted for either to remain in UK or leave to become an independent nation. Questions were asked around the world about Scotland decision to leave UK and one of these questions was "what would be Scotland gains if Scottish people vote for independence?"or "what would Scottish peoples' future look like after independence"? These are healthy questions and i hardly read anywhere that scottish nationals got up as a result of these questions being asked. People around you ll question you naturally.

In every sane society, questions ll always be asked and the need for the open-minded and unbiased ones to chat about failures and success from both divides should be encouraged. If I fail in School as a student and my parents get to know about it, it's natural for my parents to get upset about it and it's equally natural for my well wishers to be disappointed in me and ask questions as to what causes my failure. If you r open minded person, the answers to my unresolved assignments in School could possibly be handled by one of these well wishers but if I m arrogant person, I ll get upset about the fact they are getting involved.

So what have you said Now? Is this really a political debate? Is this question really genuine? Is it too much to allow them do whatever they want to do?
judging from the nature of comments from the Igbos so far, do you think they agree with you?
It's really painful when people just don't know when to back off. The education system has failed, Yes, but you can't use me to judge that because I know what not to do so it wouldn't trigger ethnic bashing, Mr.

Innocent question or not, it's uncalled for. Take a Good look at the topic one more time before you write me another long epistle. If they do it and fail, you would need not advice them again It and if they succeed, I would really be happy for them.

I think everyone should be concerned on how to advance his or her own region. Leave the Igbos to think for themselves, biko
My question was that why must we see things from tribal perspective? No. Is it wrong for an Igbo guy who wants to know what Yorubas stand to gain in forming alliance with CPC just like the Op? No.

All I need to do as yoruba man who knows what yoruba nation stands to gain in a less corrupt country is to explain to him/her the reasons why I prefer Buhari to Jonathan. Let me cite corruption as one of the reasons why i would be asking my family to vote for Buhari. Secondly, as a former military of state, d issue of boko haram ll be dealt with less corrupt military institution and other reasons.............. That is all

You have just opened another avenue for every Tom Dick and Harry to come and start spitting fire and brinestone not leaving behind all the derogotary words they can think of on the Yoruba people and they would be justified cos you called for it.

Can't you just leave them alone already?
Nigeria education has totally failed going by your response to this political analysis. What was the purpose of those debates during our secondary school days? These simple questions threw to us by the Op only need who knows much about Nigeria politics to address those questions one after d other without resulting to tribal bashing.

If any Igbo, Hausa or Ijaw man comes here to ask questions about Yoruba contributions to Nigeria politics since 1960 with an open mind like this Op, why shld I result to tribal bashing when I know that I have read extensively about Nigeria politics right from 60s till date and the answers to his questions are right there in my pocket(my pen/finger to type with)?

Must every political questions be viewed from tribal perspective? The only person that would find these questions offensive or Igbo bashing are these village based Mushkins.

All these questions were the questions that I have equally asked myself several times in recent months but couldn't find answers to and coming to Nairaland to ask these questions from others who might be able to analysis and provide reasonable answers has now become or perceived to be an act of tribal bashing.

We all knew how much Igbos were demanding for a shot at Presidency before Jonathan became Nigeria president. And as political calculations were then, it would have been difficult for PDP not to present Igbo man from the south as Presidential candidate after Yar Adua tenure....................It's just a political mathematics

Right from 2014 till date, everything has politically changed; In 2015, it ll be a suicide mission to present an Igbo man as a candidate for any national political party like APC and PDP cos Hausas/Fulanis/Kanuris and Yorubas will not vote for such candidate going by Igbo attitude in recent months under Jonathan administration(My opinion which does not represent all Yorubas and Hausas views).

The Olorunsogo Power Plant commissioned in Ogun state on Thursday by President Goodluck Jonathan, as part of vote-winning gimmicks that his government has done something for the South West people, was commissioned by former President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2007, eight years ago.

The Obasanjo administration actually built many of the gas-powered plants across the country, or awarded the contracts for them. They are now being commissioned by the Jonathan administration. The Olorunsogo plant, not far away from the industrial complex of Sango-Ota Farm, Ewekoro Cement and the Obasanjo Farms, was among the plants that were ready before Obasanjo left office in May 2007. And he cut the ceremonial tape to declare it open.

The plant, with eight turbines, could not produce much power, because there of inadequate gas supply.

Thanks to Okeke Godwin Iyke, we now publish the photograph of the former president commissioning the plant.

CultureRe: Why Do Igbos Especially The Anambrans Marry From Their Tribe? by GentleToks(m): 6:10pm On Feb 22, 2015
bigfrancis21:
Igbo bashing has become quite a common thing in Nigeria such that it has become normal to bash Igbo on every single thing, even on things that are meaningless.

You created this thread to ask why Igbo prefer to marry from their tribe. Are you really serious? This is a question you opened this thread for looking for 'answers'? Would you have opened this very thread in the first place had a Yoruba or Hausa guy been the one who preferred to marry from their tribe? Yes or No? Why would a Yoruba parent reject a non-yoruba suitor, and that will not be an issue. In fact, such action is justified. A Hausa parent will do the same and no dust will be raised about it. But when an Igbo parent does the same, then its a big deal. It is a serious issue that calls for serious attention and criticism, then you begin to get tags like ''Igbos are 'tribalistic'', 'they are 'selfish'', it is an 'Igbo problem' e.t.c. Minor issues that aren't issues when done by other tribes become a serious issue when Igbo is involved.

I look around me, majority Ibibios marry within the Ibibio tribe, majority Hausas marry within Hausa, Yoruba within Yoruba, why should the Igbo marrying within themselves even be a question in the first place? Despite the level of inter marriage between whites and blacks here in the US, majority whites marry within whites, chinese within chinese, blacks within blacks, and you're going to sit there and tell me that it is a problem when Igbos prefer to marry Igbos?? Like seriously??

I get your point about love being the most important factor between 2 people from different tribes and there are marriages between Igbo men and non-Igbo women however majority Igbos don't need to look outside for love when they can find it within themselves. The same love you mentioned as important, Igbo men get it from within the tribe. Why look outside? What about culture preservation and values? Why should Igbo preferring to marry from within even be an issue in the first place when other tribes are doing the same? Is the creation of this thread even justified in the first place?

Tomorrow you're going to open another thread asking 'Why do Igbo people speak Igbo?' Like seriously??
It baffles me when i see Igbos(some) putting themselves on a spot for no reason just like this poster. Why, when and how has Igbo tribe become the only victim of tribal bashing either online or offline? Why is it all about me as an Igbo man?

These 3 tribes: Yoruba, Hausa and of course Igbo are being bashed at every passing second on different fora for all sort of reasons(political and tribal). And if someone should complain of being bashed at all time, that should be Hausa/Fulanis not Igbos.
