Please if you intend deceiving yourself, do that solely without misleading the public. Patience Jonathan is only interested in her husband's reelection and not women empowerment. In her about 5 years of being First Lady what programmes has she created?? What empowerment has she provided for women in different parts of the country? That's the empowerment we're talking about not going around shouting and insulting opposition like a mad woman

Installing the First Lady seat is not woman empowerment, it is what is done with that seat afterwards that matters. One would expect Patience Jonathan to list out how she has empowered women during her and her husband's 5 year tenure but instead she goes about creating hate and encouraging disunity with her hate induced speeches.
Pls ride on and tell that dimwit to have mama war has as his mentor.

The worst and worthless Senate President ever in the history of Nigeria. Mr everything goes!!!

Can you imagine a senate president saying "mobile phone are not meant to be used by everybody. These sorts of human being would have prefer d only extremely expensive phones so as to stop poor people from having access to what they have access to.

I remember Nnamani and Okadigbo....... These guys would have kept Jonathan wasteful spending under control. Can u imagine Obanikoro becoming a Federal minister for Christ sake after that evidence, Jesus!!! I just pity the coming generation; the present day politicians have already finished this present generation.

Go on the street of Lagos and Abuja and see able young men striving for unavailable success and financial freedom which have been cornered by these kinds of people; David mark.

In a sane society, these kinds of people are treated like someone with Leprosy but in my own country called Nigeria, they are well celebrated and adored by the same wasted generation.

I remember when these guys(David mark, Babaginda etc) were all growing up in this country, this country gave them that opportunity of becoming "who they are today". The platform to strive for success and get the result, not strive for success without any possibility of getting anything out of the painful struggle which the youths of today have been subjected into.

These guys were given position of federal ministers at age of 29 during their days, but today, at age of 29, you are either sleeping behind your mum, being fed by your parents or still struggling through Colleges. What a pity!!!!! Come to Holborn Private College in UK and see the lives of these politicians' children, you ll cry for the ones on the street of Lagos and Abuja........

You are right; the same story here in UK. At my working place, you ll see all these other Africans shivering over trivial working related issues but trust Nigerians; you see Nigerians saying to one another "Nothing they happen".

I never believe that other Africans get intimidated by the presence of Nigerians until I started working in UK. What an interesting experience..............

I have taken my time to look into this issue holistically and all I can come up with is that Nigerian ladies and guys are far beautiful and handsome than other Africans from other africa countries; just my observation in UK and US.

Nigerian ladies in diaspora are killing other african ladies with their swagg; the way they talk, chat and walk is killing and it's d same story with Nigerian guys.....

You ll hardly see Nigerian ladies dating other Africans due to the fact that Nigerians are more superior than other Africans

More often than not, your environment determines the kinds of Yoruba you meet in life and I think your own environment has done justice to that by allowing you to meet Yorubas of your class.

It's shocking and heart-trending to see a woman or a lady indulging in this tribal stereotypes but it's all good.

It ll be wrong for Mrs Osinbajo to act as if her husband is the presidential candidate; it is not done anywhere to lead as a deputy while your boss walk/stand behind you. lt will definitely send a wrong signal to the media and beef between these two women ll pick up from there.

And being a Yoruba woman, trust me, respect is an inbuilt and natural gift from God to the Yorubas. And this alone will make Mrs Osinbajo to respect d wife of her husband's boss.

You need to realise that at every ceremonial outing , president or presidential candidate always lead the way by protocol not d other way round. Have u ever seen Mrs Jonathan standing in front of Turai Ya Adua when Jonathan was a vice president? No i presumed. And as at today, I equally believed that you have never seen Mrs Sambo acting too forward in any ceremonial outing with Mrs Jonathan. Capital no I believed.

Finally, the combination of these intelligent, brilliant and gorgeous ladies is really good. It's quite heart warming to see the wife of president and his deputy doing things together.

@ GentleToks

What you said above actually is a complete TRAGEDY of immense proportion. Generation twisting histories to suit their tribal and ethnic ego, and handing over useless habits to younger ones.

However it was wrong of you to solely accused the Igbos of this. Am already in my mid-40s and I can tell you is the same (perhaps stronger) among the Yorubas.

Vast majority of Yoruba will rather re-echo tribal stories and beliefs instead of investigating same. No they will never because such fallacies favours them. Even on this thread a Yoruba fellow said his 'grand mother told him something...' and he came to public to use his granny ethnic folklore to debunk others belief.

Also have you observed many Yorubas denigrate the Edos and their cultural value? Have you observed many so-called history the Yorubas spurn about Benin/Edo just to obliterate and subjugate the Edo values to the black race? Please tell me did you ever investigate any of those 'histories' to ascertain the truth or you also swallow book, line and sinker?

Just a while ago I responded to a Yoruba guy describing the Great Benin Empire as 'landlocked' and claiming Itsekiris are Ijebus. My friend did you believe such folklore as truths or research further?

I will like to hear from you...

You can say that again bro. Thks for bringing the word Nigger/nigga as a good example here; brilliant I ll say.

Igbos are known to write their own histories when all histories and facts have been written and used by others hence all these assertions called Igbo histories.

Take a look at Nigeria politics and civil war as another typical example here, Igbo version of Nigeria history is pretty different from the versions that were written by foreigners and Nigerians from other tribes.

Have you notice how the service of Wikipedia is being used by the Igbos on this topic? The same Wikipedia that was tagged by them as an "individual thing".....

FATOYINBO has nothing to do with “Oyinbo”.
FATOYINBO is a contraction of Ifa to yin (praise), bo (peel off) ni ete (lips). That is, Ifa is so great, that you will praise it, till your lips peel off.
I know Oyinbo has nothing to do with the meaning of FATOYINBO(In terms of meaning only) but the words and pronunciation of Oyinbo are purely yoruba in all ramification.

The write up does not make sense from d beginning to the end. Why trying to alter what is unalterable? If slave merchants used Onye Ibo as derogatory remark in reference to hardworking Ibo slaves, how come the same derogatory words are being used against the same white slave merchants who used the same derogatory words on their slaves? It didn't even hard up in the first place. How could ""On""-ye Ibo be called Oyinbo?

As usual, you come up with this meaningless assertion to sell to d gullible ones to buy and funny enough, few have bought it already. Chaiii!!!!.......

How come there is no slavery book that has ever made reference to this Onye - Ibo? As at 13/03/2015, white people are still being called Oyinbo in Nigeria and they(the ones in the country) have never seen it as derogatory words.

Finally, my Family name is "FATOYINBO"(OYINBO) and this name was given to my progenitor cos he is xtremely fair in complexion (very fair in skin colour).

N.B Right from genesis, Igbos have always called white people Onye Ocha, how has Onye Ocha transcend to Oyinbo.
CultureRe: Etymology Of The Word Oyinbo by GentleToks(m):

Oyinbo was rather a derogatory remark made by the early white slave merchants to refer to an Ibo slave. It was transliterated Onye Ibo which means Ibo man. The early Whit slave merchant could not hide their preference for Igbo slaves whom they saw as hardworking. To register that preference, the whites usually asked for Onye Ibo which they themselves mid pronounced as Oyinbo. I have researched widely on this and can prove the word has its root in the Igbo history.

No I do not agree with you for the following reasons:

How many times do people wear native attire abroad?
We are not loud people.
We don't hold or passports everywhere we go.
Leanne are not popular for people to know I am Nigerian.
We are loud my friend, we are loud does not necessarily mean that we are screaming on top of our voice. It could be your swag or combinations of your clothes with shoes.

It has happened to me on several occasions at work, the moment i get to a new working environment, my instinct always pick my fellow Nigerians out; it has never failed me.

I normally looked around and trust me, I always pick Nigerians out; most especially Nigerian ladies; they have got this special swag in terms of their dressing, pronunciation of words when they see handsome dudes and of course their walking style but ladies from other Africa countries will be looking at you as if you are Dezel Washington. However, Nigerian ladies will never give u that pleasure of feeling funky abt yourself; they ll look at you as if you have got this same look as Obasanjo even though they are looking forward to meet you.

Nigerian guys have always stand out among others as far back as 16AD. Here in UK, when u see a mumu guy that is being used at work or in School by all these tiny tiny girls, trust me, the guy is not a Nigerian. However, if you see a guy holding down some babes either at work or School, straight up, that is a Nigerian.

To Saharareporters, it would've been preferable if the contract was won by either a former military General, Otedola, Adenuga or Dangote.

What I was expecting was the shortcuts in the contract publications, bidding processes, NSA denial of certification.

Was there gross negligence of due process and associated presentations of paperworks?

The contract was awarded to Authur Eze is not a sad news nor is it unlawful.
Like I said here and offline, people like you, not all (most especially from the East) have made this country to remain in this sorry state. The moment Igbo name is mentioned in any fraudulent engagements/contracts in this country, all you guys usually do is to stand and fight on behalf on these corrupt Igbo contractors and politicians. Shamefully, It is obviously stated in that article that the contract was inflated and the speed at which the contract was awarded was not consistent with the normal/due process but u failed to see all that just cos you want to blackmail others with your tribal rhetoric............. What a pity!!!!!

However, the good thing about this is that, you guys are reaping d benefit and result of your failed politicians and contractors in the East just like every other Nigerians.

I have read different articles in recent months about corrupt Nigerian politicians (Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa/Fulani) from different fora online but one thing always stand out whenever this corrupt topic comes up and that thing is tribal rhetoric from Igbos (not all but few); these guys usually blackmailed others with tribal rhetoric.

Finally, the good thing about this repulsive behaviours is that the same corrupt Igbo politicians are your leaders and they ll continue to hold you guys down just like Hausas/Fulanis have held their people down over the years.
