your argument in this case is out of place. Nobody is taking away anything or adding anything to the scriptures. It is about translation. That's why you have different translations of the Bible.

Education / 12 Richest Universities In The World by genuinechimere(m): 7:50pm On Nov 30, 2017
In looking for a university to attend, you are probably considering such factors as location, reputation, faculty and majors. But are you considering a school’s wealth

The wealthier the university, the better its facilities are likely to be, and better facilities mean more up-to-date technology and research opportunities. Moreover, richer schools tend to attract a world-class faculty, and usually have more scholarship moneys to distribute, sometimes even waiving tuition costs entirely for students in financial need.
Though a university’s wealth typically comes from
donations of money, people and charitable foundations also donate such things as land, buildings, artwork, rare books and documents, and other things of high monetary value. The following Universities are considered the 12 richest in the world.

12. University of Cambridge – $8.1 Billion

Hands down the richest university in Europe, the University of Cambridge sits on a large piece of 800-year old history in the United Kingdom.

With large numbers of high-achieving alumnae who give back, and a lump sum from Bill Gates to offer international student scholarships, the University of Cambridge is lucky, and wealthy, number 12 on the list of the richest universities in the world.

11. Columbia University – $8.2 Billion

Surprisingly supported by lottery funds is where Columbia University began its journey.

Being a largely known research university, the shift to wealthy self sufficiency quickly came, and now Columbia runs a host of patent programs to keep the funds rolling in.

10. University of Michigan – $8.27 Billion

Established in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the story of University of Michigan’s wealth started back with Henry Ford.

With support of the Ford Motor Company and a dedicated decade long fundraising campaign, University of Michigan continues to fill up on all kinds of riches.

9. Northwestern University – $9.78 Billion

With three campuses in Evanston and Chicago, Illinois, and Doha, Qatar, Northwestern University is a well known name when it comes to wealth.

They find richness in their esteemed educational programs, such as the Kellogg School of Management and the Feinberg School of Medicine.

8. Texas A&M University – $11.1 Billion

Situated among eleven campuses lies the Texas A&M University’s wealth.

They have become well known for their research backed programs, which includes support from NASA and The National Institute of Health. You will also find them rich with books at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum.

7. Massachusetts Institute of Technology – $12.4 Billion

Its first donation left by a mysterious donor named only Mr. Smith helped put the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on the university map.

The secret sir was later discovered to be the owner of Kodak, and it was then that MIT took its technological turn to become the leader of science, technology, and a wealth of wealth.

6. University of California – $13.1 Billion

Home to ten campuses and loads of land, University of California is a system of success.

Five of the campuses are listed in the top 50 universities across America, and is one of the favorites for public education. Its wealth is supplied mostly by the lay of its land, but also thanks to donors and program sponsors like The Hewlett Foundation and BP.

5. King Abdullah University of Science and Technology – $20 Billion

Founded in 2009 in Saudi Arabia, the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) quickly jumped to one of the wealthiest universities in the world thanks to a hefty donation by King Abdullah himself.

Now well known as the ‘House of Wisdom’ and referred to as the Arab MIT, KAUST has doubled its net worth and has secured its progressive roots as the first co-ed campus in the region.

4. Princeton University – $20.7 Billion

The richness of Princeton University seems to roll off the tongue. Ranked as the sixth best university in the world, it’s no doubt Princeton hails in the big bucks thanks to its esteemed graduating class, which includes the founders of Amazon and eBay.

Princeton also houses a world-renowned art museum stuffed with artwork from Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet and Andy Warhol.

3. Yale University – $23.9 Billion

Ivy league in education and wealth, Yale University has achieved most of its riches through the traditional route, meaning it has many large and luxurious assets.

In recent years, Yale alumnae has chosen to give large sums of gratitude in the form of money to the university as well, from smaller donations up to $50 million or even $250 million.

2. University of Texas – $25.4 Billion

Splayed throughout Texas in a system of nine schools, the University of Texas can kick its heels up in its high net worth.

Its flagship school sits in Austin, and has received donations from many independent donors. Additionally this high class college system has a deal with ESPN worth about $300 million.

1. Harvard University – $32.7 Billion

Claiming the number one spot in both wealth and as the best university in the world, Harvard University is flowing with riches thanks to its accumulation of land, art, books, and generous alumnae.

Donors include Bill Gates, the NFL, and a Rockefeller, just to name a few.

Science/Technology / Six Capabilities Only Possible In The World’s Most Advanced Fighter Jet by genuinechimere(m): 10:39am On Dec 27, 2016
Imagine flying virtually undetected with a clear 360-degree view of your environment.
With advanced targeting and radar systems, you can identify and engage air and ground targets using a combination of infrared search and track technology.
Secure datalinks allow you to share information across your entire network – on the ground, in the air and over the seas – improving the lethality and survivability of your entire fleet.
This isn’t science fiction, and there’s only one place on earth such capabilities are possible: the cockpit of an F-35 Lightning II.
Check out these six things you need to know about the F-35 Lightning II:

1. ABILITY TO FLY VIRTUALLY UNDETECTED

Undetectable. Untraceable. Invisible. These are some of the words that come to mind when we hear an aircraft is stealthy. The F-35’s advanced stealth grants pilots unparalleled access in contested areas where 4th generation aircraft can be easily detected by enemy radar.
So what is stealth, really? It’s the ability to evade detection by radar, infrared sensors or emission interception. The F-35’s shape, internal fuel and weapons carriage, mission-system sensors and advanced stealth coating all play key roles in keeping the F-35 stealthy.

2. COMMUNICATING ACROSS A SECURE NETWORK

In today’s world, we stay connected with our network at all times. The F-35 is no different. Equipped with a sophisticated mission systems suite, it enables seamless communications across the entire fleet in any battlespace. The F-35's advanced sensor fusion gathers information from the aircraft’s multiple on-board sensors to create a single integrated picture of the battlefield.
Through secure datalinks, this data is automatically shared with other pilots and command and control operating centers, helping not only the F-35 pilot, but all of the allied forces.

3. LOCKING ON WITH LASER PRECISION

In increasingly challenging battlespaces, the F-35’s Electro-Optical Targeting System (EOTS) provides pilots with precise air-to-air and air-to-ground targeting capability. The system enables aircrews to identify areas of interest, perform reconnaissance and precisely deliver laser- and GPS-guided weapons.
This system is integral to maintaining the F-35's stealth. As a sensor integrated into the F-35’s fuselage, EOTS can be used without detection by enemy radar.

4. BIG DATA MEETS AIR SUPERIORITY

For the next five decades, a global fleet of more than 3,000 F-35s will soar through the skies. With such a long lifecycle and operations across 12 nations, efficiently and effectively sustaining these aircraft is a major focus of the F-35 program.
That’s where the Autonomic Logistics Information System, better known as ALIS, comes in. ALIS acts as the information nerve center of the F-35, providing a comprehensive platform that transforms vast amounts of data into actionable information. ALIS provides mission planning capability, tracks training plans, logs maintenance activity, automatically orders parts and displays tailored step-by-step maintenance instructions. With big data analytics, ALIS pinpoints trends to keep the F-35 fleet in peak flying condition.

5. REAL-TIME VIRTUAL REALITY

The F-35 helmet takes virtual reality to the next level. Through the Distributed Aperture System (DAS), high-resolution, real-time images are streamed from six infrared cameras mounted around the aircraft, straight to the pilot’s visor. Additionally, DAS projects mission-critical information such as airspeed, heading, altitude, targeting information and warnings – all on the helmet’s visor.

6. THREE MISSIONS, ONE JET

To meet the needs of its customers, we designed three variants of the F-35: the F-35A, F-35B and F-35C. While all three are supersonic stealth fighters equipped with advanced avionics, they are distinguished by the unique requirements of each base they will operate out of.
The F-35A is designed to operate from conventional runways and carry out traditional air-to-air and air-to-ground engagements. The F-35B short takeoff/vertical landing variant is designed to operate in austere environments and on aircraft carriers. The F-35C, the U.S. Navy’s first stealth fighter, is designed and built explicitly for carrier operations.

Religion / Pope Francis’ Remarks Disappoint Gay And Transgender Groups by genuinechimere(m): 2:53pm On Aug 04, 2016
Leaders of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender groups expressed dismay on Wednesday after Pope Francis said that schoolchildren are being taught they can choose their gender as part of what he called an “ideological colonization.”

Francis was meeting privately with bishops in Poland last week when he broached the matter. “Today, in schools they are teaching this to children — to children! — that everyone can choose their gender,” he said, according to a transcript released by the Vatican on Tuesday.

Marianne Duddy-Burke, the executive director of DignityUSA, a leading organization of L.G.B.T. Catholics, said the comments represented a “dangerous ignorance” about gender identity, which is no more a choice than height or hair color.

“It’s very troubling that the pope would say this,” Ms. Duddy-Burke said on Wednesday. “It also shows that the pope doesn’t understand the danger that his words can mean for gender-nonconforming people, particularly those who live in countries with laws or cultural pressures that put these people at risk for violence.”

In his remarks, the pope said the idea of choosing gender was being taught with schoolbooks supplied by influential donors and countries. He did not identify which.

“This is terrible,” he said, according to the transcript.

Francis, who is Argentine, also did not offer examples of classrooms using such a curriculum. But church analysts say he has long harbored resentment over so-called ideological colonialism, the notion that international groups offer aid to developing nations contingent upon the adoption of Western values.

“It’s not all that clear who he’s mad at and what’s upsetting him,” said the Rev. Thomas J. Reese, a Jesuit priest and senior analyst for The National Catholic Reporter. “But there’s something underlying there. And I think it’s primarily that he feels that this kind of stuff is being pushed down their throats.”

During a trip to the Philippines in 2015, the pope warned of “the new ideological colonization that tries to destroy the family.” Asked by journalists what he meant, he was reported to have given the example of an education minister in Argentina who was offered a loan to build schools on the condition that the textbooks include “gender theory.”

The pontiff’s latest remarks represented a letdown for gay rights groups that were encouraged by the pope’s conciliatory remarks in June after the massacre of gay patrons at a nightclub in Orlando, Fla. Francis said at the time that gays were owed an apology for past mistreatment by Christians.Sarah McBride, a spokeswoman for the Human Rights Campaign, said the words sent a ripple of hope through the L.G.B.T. community that the Vatican might be embracing a broader stance on inclusion.

She added, however, “I think what’s clear in this last statement is that maybe those sentiments weren’t universally applied — that for transgender people, the pontiff is applying a different standard.”

Francis, whose papacy began in 2013, has won admirers, and detractors, for his relatively progressive views on social issues, once declaring, “Who am I to judge?” on the matter of gay priests.

Austen Ivereigh, the author of “The Great Reformer,” a biography of Pope Francis, said the pontiff also has a track record of reaching out to transgender people and telling them they are “children of God and part of the church.”

Perhaps the best-known example was in early 2015, when a Spanish daily reported that Francis had invited a transgender man to the Vatican after he wrote that he had been rejected by his parish. The man, Diego Neria Lejarraga, later said the experience “changed my life.”

Mr. Ivereigh said the pontiff’s remarks last week represented no prejudice toward transgender people, but rather a rejection of so-called gender ideology.

“His view is that gender is a gift of God — it’s part of the created world,” Mr. Ivereigh said. “And that gender ideology, which says that gender is something that you can choose and select, is an abstract ideology which doesn’t correspond to that human reality.”

In a major document regarding family issues released in April — titled “Amoris Laetitia,” Latin for “The Joy of Love” — Francis warns of “an ideology of gender” as a threat to the family.

“Creation is prior to us and must be received as a gift,” he writes. “At the same time, we are called to protect our humanity, and this means, in the first place, accepting it and respecting it as it was created.”

L.G.B.T. leaders said Wednesday that the pope had failed to grasp that one’s gender identity is discovered, often at a very young age, not chosen. Ms. McBride, of the Human Rights Campaign, noted that transgender people have been a part of humanity throughout time and across cultures.

“There have been times where he’s demonstrated compassion,” she said of Francis. “Then there have been other times where his words have been not only hurtful, and frankly harmful, but really demonstrating a misunderstanding of what it means to be transgender.”

Business / U.S. Has More Untapped Oil Than Saudi Arabia Or Russia by genuinechimere(m): 5:53pm On Jul 06, 2016
Move over, Saudi Arabia and Russia. America now has more untapped oil than any other country on the planet.
That's according to a new report from Rystad Energy that estimates the U.S. is sitting on an incredible 264 billion barrels of oil reserves. It includes oil in existing fields, new projects, recent discoveries as well as projections in undiscovered fields.
More than half of America's untapped oil is unconventional shale oil, according to Rystad. Shale oil is the previously-unreachable crude that, thanks to fracking and new technology, has reshaped the global energy landscape and vaulted the U.S. into the upper echelon of global oil producers.
"This has been a revolution. Ten years ago nobody would have dreamt this would have been the result," Jarand Rystad, CEO of Rystad Energy, told CNNMoney.
chart most oil reserves

The findings suggest the U.S. could shoulder even more of the weight of global oil production in the future, especially as prices recover. U.S. output has declined modestly over the past year as a result of oil prices crashing to levels that aren't profitable for all but the best shale oil fields.
But there are seas of oil just waiting to get tapped once oil prices rebound. Texas, home to the Eagle Ford, Permian and Barnett shale oil plays, holds more than 60 billion barrels of shale oil alone, Rystad estimates. That's more than the untapped oil in all of China. There are also vast sums of oil beneath the ground in North Dakota, where the Bakken shale oil play sits.
Thanks to the shale oil boom, the U.S. is now sitting on more oil reserves than Russia, which Rystad estimates as having 256 billion barrels of untapped oil. The next-richest countries in terms of oil after that are: Saudi Arabia (212 billion), Canada (167 billion), Iran (143 billion) and Brazil (120 billion).

kostadinis:

Igbo culture is complex and assimilative like other cultures around the world.

The word Obi as it relates to authority, means a house in the Igbo traditional family. That is where the head of the family sits to welcome visitors and mediate disputes within his family and beyond. The earliest known people to use the word Obi in Igboland to address their village chiefs was Nnewi, 1200AD. About 500 years before Onitsha appeared on the scene.

Dressing in white is not unique to any chiftaincy house in Nigeria. Akwa ocha as we call it, is prominent with the riverine/Northern Igbo. By the way, there is no mono culture. We are all a bit of one another in many ways and still evolving. It does not mean that those who wore "asho ebi" in Igboland today would be classified Yoruba tomorrow.

Do you have any link of an Onitsha chief making those "sacrifices" in Benin?

Benin empire was one time strong and trendy. It was about greatness and every community wanted to associate with the institution. The empire was tough enough to pick any individual from any community and make him chief of the people, and in line with the ruling structure/titles. Zik was like any other child told oral tradition.

We could be pure Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Idoma, Edo etc., by tribal classification, but no one is by DNA 100 percent of these tribes.

Phones / What Can Be Done To Fix A Counterfeit Tecno M5? by genuinechimere(m): 11:54am On Mar 29, 2016
My sister was given a new Tecno M5. Unknown to the person that bought the phone, the phone is fake. It selects charger. The charger it came with doesn't charge it. My sister that uses similar phone, tried to configure it and make it surf the net, but it couldn't work. She now got a new Samsung Galaxy. I've been thinking if the Tecno M5 can be fixed.
