vickyehi:Congratulations! I never knew IQAS is in existence I used ICAS during my time. |
njbybrthnly:Thanks |
flosk:Thanks |
I have been following you guys silently ever since I started encouraging my younger ones to apply and come over. Your suggestions are the "bomb" and always on target. I salute your resilence and sometimes wish my siblings have such tenacious approach to this journey. I guess they will read this thread later because I introduced them to it yesterday. ![]() My younger sister knows basic French and I want her to use it as way to boost her scores, she is currently at 439 (based on IELTS max simulation). Does anyone here have info or link on TEF approved centers in Nigeria? I asked Google but not sure of the websites I saw. Keep pushing guys and all will end in praise. |
At last my mother has got a passport request. Application since June. Thank God. |
Thank God at last my inlaws got passport request today application date June 18th I fired an email for status update to them last week. I await my mum's own because they applied same date. |
DrNeoCortex:I wanted to suggest applying for an open work permit bit I didn't know how far you wish to go. But you will make a good case: family reason like I did when I was applying to come in as students. I applied for study permit and open work permit for my wife same time - though this was 4 years ago. Harper government looks easier than JT's |
DrNeoCortex:For clarity did you include your wife in the application for Permanent Resident? If you are already processing PR for both of you then you guys require patience. I have a friend who is also processing PR through provincial nominee he has applied visitor's visa 2x and study permit once for his wife and they were all denied. So he resigned to waiting for the outcome of the PR. |
justwise:I thought you got my point. I will rephrase it. I am not saying whether he is wrong or right. Yes in this case he might be wrong or he is wrong but my point is before we point out people's wrong let us form the habit of also highlighting their right answers because once you focus on the negative you will place a doubt on the 90% of his answers and focus on the 10% thereby confusing the person who asks the question as to what to believe. In summary commend his 90% and point out the 10% that is wrong and proffer a better solution to the wrong. Don't just shout "it is a lie!" without given the questionaire a better solution. We learn everyday, the truth is that I am too selfish. Because I visit forums like this only when I have an ongoing application, therefore I respect and commend those of you who are consistently in the habit of helping people out, it is not easy. I reappeared because I helped my younger brother apply for his study permit and as soon as he got it I stopped visiting the other forum. I am currently here because I have an ongoing application for vsiiting visa for my parents and in laws. Therefore I respect you guys and will never pick querrel with anyone of you because you are better off than me in helping out. |
justwise:You will be working at CIC or IRCC. The truth is that nobody has figured it all out because everyone is treated differently based on their circumstances. But we usually satisfy our conscience by subitting beyound the basic requirements to convince the VO. Forums like this has contributed to my successful applications both study visit and PR but I filter all suggestions. I have been told several times in this forum not to communicate CIC in the course of my application, I did because I had special reason to do so and that even made my application response time faster. I am not stereotype in my approach especially when it comes to visa application because I see the VOs as human beings that can reason well and make decisions based on what they have. They dont go about witch hunting people, except that you have to first be truthful to yourself then it will be easier to deal with them, because being truthful and genuine makes their work easier. |
justwise:Anyone relying on public forum to solve problems should be ready to sit down and consider all suggestions and make decisions. how sure are we who is right and wrong. If you know it all you won't be in this forum |
jayfierce:@Jayfierce, rather than pick out people's wrong in every answer make your own suggestions, especially when the person took out dedicated time to answer the question. People come to this forum seeking for answer's they get answers from different sources it is left for them to filter and apply the ones they choose. Don't always be on the attacking side or could it be from the name you chose. Just my advise. I have followed your reaction whenever Awelekiti answers question, it looks like you have other problems with him. Please deal with the problem outside the forum. THanks for understanding. |
Any idea of what month of visitors online applications are treated now. I applied for my parents and in laws since 15th of June |
1koboko:Check momondo dot and bookingbuddy |
nampofo:Since you have your visa it doesn't really matter how you choose to travel. Trying to get permission from CIC is a waste of your time. When you get to boarder, they will ask you about your visit, thenjoy you can give them details including where you want to stay. |
jayfierce:Oh I see I thought they meant the same. I am enlightened now. |
dotcomnamename:I don't understand if you have Irish passport why do you need visa to enter Canada. You don't need visa to enter Canada, however due to recent changes effective March, 2016, you need to apply for is eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization). That is if you really have an Irish passport. |
irebami16:I notified them of my inlaw's passport renewal through case specific enquiry and uploaded the scanned copy after 3 days I got a confirmation from Accra that it was received. So go ahead. |
kisstaye:@Kisstaye I will attempt to clarify this once and for all. When requesting for your passport CIC makes a general statement that your visa will not be issued beyond your passport expiry date. The rule-of-thumb for Nigerian passport immigration office is that if your passport has validity of more than 6 months you cannot renew your passport (some peoplemay have succeeded doing that with passport expiry beyond 6 months, I sincerely don't know how they did it). So if your passport is less than 6 months it's advisable to renew it. But if you have a 1 year valid passport CIC will give you 1 year trv. Which can be extended as soon as you extend your passport with Nigerian embassy in Canada. Nigerian embassy in Canada gives students special consideration when renewing your passport you collect it same day in Ottawa. But for others you buy self-addressed courier envelop and receive it within 5 working days. Then renwal of study permit within Canada is less than 14 days everything done online. So no need to panic focustomers on getting your initial trv. Renewal of trv is not compulsory except that you need it in order to re-enter Canada when you travel out of Canada. |
burrytee: wealth360:You cannot renew your passport if you have more 6 months on it. My advice is when you come into Canada you can renew it at the right time and extend your study permit. I have done that before. |
Ngezee:I am hearing this for the first time. When I submitted an application for study permit for my brother in June I did not include police certificate and now he has his trv and tentative study permit. |
Please has anyone travelled through UK to Canada without transit visa? |
Please has anyone travelled through UK to Canada without transit visa? |
Victory1989:I had similar experience in 2012 when I got my student visa in September 12 and registration deadline was 15th I boarded flight on the 13th and arrived Sunday, 14th and was able meet the deadline. Although it was tough to catch up with the class. I will advice you to consider writing CIC and also differ your admission to January. Don't be in a hurry especially if you are going for MSc or PhD |
I helped someone to apply for visitors visa and another for study permit in June. The one of study permit got his visa last week but no response yet for the one for visitors visa. My question is for the later: he has renewed his passport recently because the one he used to apply will expire in January, should I send his updated passport to Ghana (I used online method to apy for both candidates) or wait for passport request? |

@earthgreen, I have never been under this kind of academic pressure before, it is a highly demanding environment full of competition, I don't have choice but to adjust (naija factor). my PhD will offcially commence Jan, 2013 its funded, this means I have to switch schl, becos right now d program I am doing is not funded. The good thing about courses here compared to naija is that it is practical and up to date(current research work, ideas and technology) not archaic. Lecture notes changes every year although methods of teaching remains constant. The negative part is the relative performance part, meaning the percentage of class performance determines the pass and fail for e.g if the average of the class is 70% and you have 60% you fail and most times in our case here the class average is 75-80% meaning there is strong competition with majority of the class always above average. Sometimes sweet sometimes bitter. You can call these ones good or bad, its up to you: Too many assignments with deadlines (if u fail to meet deadline -5% per day), alot individual and group project, report and presentation, field trips at least 2x per term with follow-up report or is it the lab work that is at least 2x a week with deadlines b4 the nex lab. Well if you are coming here you must be prepared to drop Giration and groooves ( I hav nt seen any, mayb in summer wen I will be wrking to mak mony for winter academic stress), but the hope is that after studies with good grade u have wide range of opportunities to explore. Canada is a very nice place for people who purposely want to succeed. I will end by quoting shakespeare "The heights reached by men were not attained by sudden flight but they, while their companion slept, they toil through the night" therefore hard work backed up by divine grace will get you to that height you want to be. Hard work pays here I don't know about that in Nigeria. |
Greetings from Canada I dey hail all of you guys who are consistent forum members. Academic pressure did not allow me to visit except now that I have only one exam left (on Tuesday). I wish you guys all the best. We shall all reach our goal in life. |
Ready to fly to Edmonton today. All the best to all in ur pursuit. |
Austria lillaowow: @geotherm, which country did you apply from? |
