NothingDoMe:Well i think this one is not home ties otherwise they would have stated it. She has three kids and her husband that are not coming with her. She is fully employed as an accountant -Federal job. She added leave letter. The reasons they gave is purpose of visit and travel history. After much thought i think we didn't do justice with purpose of travel. 1. No itenery submitted or flight booking made 2. The only reason we gave was to visit for Christmas. 3. My brothers graduation is coming next April, i think she can use that as purpose of visit and this time we will be more specific by including itenery. 4. I thought I was already a guru in the house having helped many people but my inbility to help my sister is a humbling experience. 5. I appreciate this forum, it makes me more current on documents to submit. 6. I am waiting for her GCMS before looking for next step. 7. Her job and family are waiting for her so she has no reason to stay behind after visit, and I will strongly oppose such attempt because it is not the right way at all. Thanks again Nairalanders for your relentless support and empathy. |
jj17cv:Will going to Dubai count as Travel history? |
geotherm:Unfortunately my sister was denied based on travel history and purpose of visit. Is coming to see her brother who she has not seen for more than 4 years not enough reason. And why travel history? Yes she has not traveled to any other country and so. Does everyone not have first time of travel. It made totally no sense to me. |
TMorse:Wow congratulations September already. I am still waiting for next mail after BVL for my sister. |
BVL received for online application made 21st August. Biometrics 22nd August. BVL November 3. How long more to wait? This is for my sister's visiting visa |
Contact: Pastor & Mrs. Johnson George Cell: 586-Bleep-xxxx Email: george@cpbc-inc.org Office Hours: 9:am - 1:00pm (Tuesday - Friday) https://cpbc-inc.org/INT/pastor.html Be warned and beware of a church named Canada Pentecostal Bible church. This church is not in existence in Canada. Someone has been using that name and most likely a fake website to swindle many Nigerian pastors. Giving them offer letters Immediately I saw the offer letter from a friend I knew it was fake. I had to investigate. That cell number on the website belongs to a pastor who lives in the USA. He is worried that some unscrupulous individuals are using his number and a fake name to swindle pastors from Nigeria. Please spread the message and be warned. A friend fail for it and spent a lot of money. He did phone call interview, got offer letter and signed contract. All fake. Please beware don't let desperation cloud your judgment. Anyone demanding money for job is not genuine. To be forewarned is to be forearmed. |

Has anyone who applied for visits visa online in August received " Eligibility review started?" |
Frankrobbn1:Thank you so much Frank I will check your write up sir |
I have come again. Please I need suggestion, I guided a friend who is currently studying in Philippines to apply for Canada study permit. It was refused based on the following reasons: • I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your family ties in Canada and in your country of residence. • I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit. • I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the limited employment prospects in your country of residence. • I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your current employment situation. • I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your personal assets and financial status. I need advise on way forward, how can she address these issues. Additional info: Her dad provided all the necessary documents in support of her visa including bank statements, landed documents and she provided her own statement including evidence of tuition payment both in phillipines and part payment for Canada. The course will start in May. She applied for the visa this January, they even sent her for medical after 5 days of application. Her current study ends in March. |
Great info here bankylan: |
You have better info than I do in this area. It was a friend that old me. I will ask him how it went because he is planning on visiting CBN next week. He also knows more of Bereau de change because that was his previous business. I dont know if he is using his business connection. I will report back as soon as I get more reliable info. He has received his passport, booked flight over the weekend, his sponsor will release money to him next week. canadabyfire: |
Naira is not an international currency. I heard CBN gives official exchange rate if you show them your study visa. Linzo: |
If it is for visa photocopy is okay. It's not a requirement for visa but it is discrete. Just like PCC is not a requirement but some people submit it. Oluwanifemi34: |
Thanks for pointing that out. I misread it. But I think she is a better candidate than most in terms of getting visa: PhD and full scholarship. All she has to do is to show home tie. It will complicate her application if the same supervisor who is funding her will also act as her visa sponsor except I also misread that part. I believe she will get the visa easily without much complications. toludadon: |
What course did you choose and how does it relate to your background course? What funding did you show? Do you gave work experience in the course? Post the answers and more detail about your application. Then we can make attempt to answer. 11111funmi: |
You have to choose one bro/sis. If visa officer gets any slightest idea that you don't want to go back after studies, you will be denied visa scholarship or no scholarship. Take it one step at a time. Think of PR when you have entered Canada and started your studies for now focus on getting study visa. If the Prof. will act as cosponsor - good but don't give impression in the letter of support that he will also sponsor your PR and don't also give impressions that he will be housing you in any way. It will be a strong application if he will show evidence of cosponsporship and state that he will ensure you have a soft start for your studies. But on a more serious note you don't need a cosponsor since you have full scholarship. Just like I advised initially your dad and your statement with the funding letter is more than enough irrespective of the amount in those accounts, provided it shows credit and debit history. rebeccausoro: |
I have answer for your 1st question, for the 2nd and 3rd I might make some suggestions. 1. Since you have full scholarship for PhD you, your dad who is a prof can show his statement however small and you too should show your statement however small, I believe you are currently working. Also you must show home tie in form of land, or study leave from a University or wife & kids. Your dad should write a very strong support letter in case the funding runs out that he will support you greatly. 2. You need at least money to take care of your 1st month rent and at least tuition for 2 terms. This will give you soft landing. Because fund for 1st month you may take some time to show into your account due to logistic reasons. Others can also make input. But I seriously advise you to either come with money for two terms tuition payments or at least money for rent and feeding for 6 to 8 months. Which University are you going to? There are Nigerians in every University. The international office can help link you to Nigerians or check for Nigerian graduate students from the website of the school or department you are going to link up with them to help arrange accommodations before you come in. 3. The public figure must show evidence and reason for support. It is easier when they are related but if they are not and they are just friends then affidavit of support and sponsorship will suffice. Many more documents hard to please the VO in this case. So it requires lots of documentation. rebeccausoro: |
It's not a red flag provided you have home tie (e.g land document, or building, or study leave). Dan90s: |

Wow!!! PASSPORT Request for my friend. He applied June 21 did biometric June 22. I encouraged him to do medical last week Monday we uploaded info sheet same day medical passed last week Thursday. Passport request today. Thank God it ended in Praise |
Sorry for the delay, it is well. But remove the notion that with 2.2 you can't get a masters in Engineering. It is possible if: 1. Your last 2 years CGPA is 2.1 2. You can apply for M. Eng (self-funded 1 year masters- taught-based) at U of S. I have seen people who transit to M.Sc right before they finished the M. Eng and also people who finished the M.Eng and got job/PR. Never give up on 2.2 it's far better than 3rd class. All the best with your quest. kingfintan: |
Have you tried to apply for Express entry I think your profile can give you rear score with your MSC Kaydee87: |
I answered this question yesterday that it started few days (3-5) after biometric and simultaneous with background check, up till now. Final decision shows " Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made." phemmisky: |
