Sorry about the refusal. Canadians and their love for purpose of visit sha. However i believe they have issues with her ties in Nigeria which may not be strong enough to discourage her from staying back with you in Canada.
Well i think this one is not home ties otherwise they would have stated it. She has three kids and her husband that are not coming with her. She is fully employed as an accountant -Federal job. She added leave letter. The reasons they gave is purpose of visit and travel history.

After much thought i think we didn't do justice with purpose of travel.

1. No itenery submitted or flight booking made
2. The only reason we gave was to visit for Christmas.
3. My brothers graduation is coming next April, i think she can use that as purpose of visit and this time we will be more specific by including itenery.
4. I thought I was already a guru in the house having helped many people but my inbility to help my sister is a humbling experience.
5. I appreciate this forum, it makes me more current on documents to submit.
6. I am waiting for her GCMS before looking for next step.
7. Her job and family are waiting for her so she has no reason to stay behind after visit, and I will
strongly oppose such attempt because it is not the right way at all.

Thanks again Nairalanders for your relentless support and empathy.

BVL received for online application made 21st August. Biometrics 22nd August. BVL November 3. How long more to wait?
This is for my sister's visiting visa
Unfortunately my sister was denied based on travel history and purpose of visit. Is coming to see her brother who she has not seen for more than 4 years not enough reason. And why travel history? Yes she has not traveled to any other country and so. Does everyone not have first time of travel. It made totally no sense to me.

Hello Guys,

Please I just need a little information about my canadian visit visa. I submitted my application 29th September, and my proposed travel date is November 19. Does anybody have an experience or thinks there is a possibility my application would be processed before my travel date, and if not what generally happens if my application was processed after my indicated travel dates (can the visa still be issued?)

I would appreciate any feedback from you guys on this.

Thanks
Wow congratulations September already. I am still waiting for next mail after BVL for my sister.

Be warned and beware of a church named Canada Pentecostal Bible church. This church is not in existence in Canada. Someone has been using that name and most likely a fake website to swindle many Nigerian pastors. Giving them offer letters

Immediately I saw the offer letter from a friend I knew it was fake. I had to investigate. That cell number on the website belongs to a pastor who lives in the USA. He is worried that some unscrupulous individuals are using his number and a fake name to swindle pastors from Nigeria.

Please spread the message and be warned. A friend fail for it and spent a lot of money. He did phone call interview, got offer letter and signed contract. All fake.

Please beware don't let desperation cloud your judgment. Anyone demanding money for job is not genuine. To be forewarned is to be forearmed.

I am sorry to hear that your friend's study permit application was refused. It's no longer a rumour that medical request is not a guarantee for visa issuance. Since the beginning of this year I have encountered over four (4) different applicants that were called for medicals and ended up been refused. With regard to the refusal grounds which was highlighted by the visa officer on her refusal letter, I will have to redirect you to my post way back in 2017 where I addressed the above refusal grounds and possible ways on how to tackle them. YOUR FRIEND'S REFUSAL GROUNDS, take your time to go through and also take a bold step by ordering her GCMS note.

Never lose hope. Storms make people stronger and never last forever.

I wish you guys the best!
Thank you so much Frank I will check your write up sir

I have come again. Please I need suggestion, I guided a friend who is currently studying in Philippines to apply for Canada study permit. It was refused based on the following reasons:

• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in
subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your family ties in Canada and in your country of
residence.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in
subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in
subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the limited employment prospects in your country of
residence.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in
subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your current employment situation.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in
subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your personal assets and financial status.

I need advise on way forward, how can she address these issues.

Additional info:
Her dad provided all the necessary documents in support of her visa including bank statements, landed documents and she provided her own statement including evidence of tuition payment both in phillipines and part payment for Canada. The course will start in May. She applied for the visa this January, they even sent her for medical after 5 days of application. Her current study ends in March.

Great info here

bankylan:
Go to your bank with your admission letter, passport, and ask for Form A. You can pay part if not all your tuition fee using the official rate. You can also get PTA of up to 4000 USD on presentation of your ticket and passport. Go to the main branches in Ikeja or VI/Ikoyi as branches on the mainland may not be able to grant your requests.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by geotherm: 11:42pm On Aug 29, 2018
You have better info than I do in this area. It was a friend that old me. I will ask him how it went because he is planning on visiting CBN next week. He also knows more of Bereau de change because that was his previous business. I dont know if he is using his business connection.

I will report back as soon as I get more reliable info. He has received his passport, booked flight over the weekend, his sponsor will release money to him next week.

canadabyfire:
Sir...."form A" transaction is wat you use for invisible transactions...invisible transactions are medical bills, school fees,.etc ....once u are doing "form A" transaction in any Nigerian bank....you get the CBN prevailing rate for that day of the transaction.....so pay your school fees via "form A".

However...for PTA, it is capped at USD4000.....banks will not sell more than USD4000 cash to you per quarter....and you must present an airticket, valid visa and international passport....so any additional cash you want....u buy from bureau De change....shikeena
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by geotherm: 9:36pm On Aug 29, 2018
Naira is not an international currency. I heard CBN gives official exchange rate if you show them your study visa.

Linzo:
Is it possible for one to carry along his/her fee in Naira to Canada and probably get official rate at Canada bank when paying fees? because I'm thinking of carrying my fee along with me to Canada to avoid this killing exchange rate in Nigeria. Nigerian students in Canada please advice accordingly

If it is for visa photocopy is okay. It's not a requirement for visa but it is discrete. Just like PCC is not a requirement but some people submit it.

Thanks for pointing that out. I misread it. But I think she is a better candidate than most in terms of getting visa: PhD and full scholarship. All she has to do is to show home tie. It will complicate her application if the same supervisor who is funding her will also act as her visa sponsor except I also misread that part.

I believe she will get the visa easily without much complications.

toludadon:
I think she is only saying that the supervisor is a PR holder not that she's thinking of PR now
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by geotherm: 8:54pm On Aug 24, 2018
What course did you choose and how does it relate to your background course? What funding did you show? Do you gave work experience in the course? Post the answers and more detail about your application. Then we can make attempt to answer.

I just
requested for my Gcms now and this were the reason they denied my visa. Pls can you guys help me out. Cos I’m not understanding
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by geotherm: 8:49pm On Aug 24, 2018
You have to choose one bro/sis. If visa officer gets any slightest idea that you don't want to go back after studies, you will be denied visa scholarship or no scholarship. Take it one step at a time. Think of PR when you have entered Canada and started your studies for now focus on getting study visa. If the Prof. will act as cosponsor - good but don't give impression in the letter of support that he will also sponsor your PR and don't also give impressions that he will be housing you in any way. It will be a strong application if he will show evidence of cosponsporship and state that he will ensure you have a soft start for your studies.

But on a more serious note you don't need a cosponsor since you have full scholarship. Just like I advised initially your dad and your statement with the funding letter is more than enough irrespective of the amount in those accounts, provided it shows credit and debit history.

rebeccausoro:
Thank you for taking your time to answer my questions. As for the question you asked, it is University of Alberta in Edmonton.

For the issue of sponsorship, if my supervisor, who is a Nigerian Professor at the University I gained admission, offers to sponsor or co-sponsor me as a Canadian permanent resident, will it be advantageous to my application? I'm asking this because I have a good rapport with the man and he's even from the same ethnic group as me. If I ask him to support me for official purposes, he will.

Thanks for the tips on budget too. I can sort all those, I believe, before leaving Nigeria. My supervisor will also accommodate me for the first few weeks before I get my own place.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by geotherm:
I have answer for your 1st question, for the 2nd and 3rd I might make some suggestions.

1. Since you have full scholarship for PhD you, your dad who is a prof can show his statement however small and you too should show your statement however small, I believe you are currently working. Also you must show home tie in form of land, or study leave from a University or wife & kids. Your dad should write a very strong support letter in case the funding runs out that he will support you greatly.

2. You need at least money to take care of your 1st month rent and at least tuition for 2 terms. This will give you soft landing. Because fund for 1st month you may take some time to show into your account due to logistic reasons. Others can also make input. But I seriously advise you to either come with money for two terms tuition payments or at least money for rent and feeding for 6 to 8 months. Which University are you going to? There are Nigerians in every University. The international office can help link you to Nigerians or check for Nigerian graduate students from the website of the school or department you are going to link up with them to help arrange accommodations before you come in.

3. The public figure must show evidence and reason for support. It is easier when they are related but if they are not and they are just friends then affidavit of support and sponsorship will suffice. Many more documents hard to please the VO in this case. So it requires lots of documentation.

rebeccausoro:
Thank you sir for taking time to answer my questions. I'm sorry to bother you with more but I have to ask.

1. In the case of a sponsor, what amount would be needed, in Naira terms, for a candidate like me who has funding. And do I need to have a minimum balance on my personal bank account? Can my father, who is a university Professor here in Nigeria, stand as my sponsor? (I don't think he has up to 2m in his account as of now though).

2. Thanks for this estimate, it'll help me in budgeting. Again, how much should I budget as cash at hand when going? And do I get a place from here or do so when I get there?

3. For the public figure part, would there be any need to show proof of relationship or anything of sorts? Because the sponsor is not related to the person. He's just a public leader in the Niger Delta.

Thank you once again sir for your time.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by geotherm: 8:36pm On Aug 17, 2018
It's not a red flag provided you have home tie (e.g land document, or building, or study leave).

Sorry for the delay, it is well. But remove the notion that with 2.2 you can't get a masters in Engineering. It is possible if:
1. Your last 2 years CGPA is 2.1
2. You can apply for M. Eng (self-funded 1 year masters- taught-based) at U of S. I have seen people who transit to M.Sc right before they finished the M. Eng and also people who finished the M.Eng and got job/PR.

Never give up on 2.2 it's far better than 3rd class. All the best with your quest.

My TRV was delayed

This people make racist decision towards our application sometimes..

This is my second attempt.

Brandon University Manitoba
2 years Applied degree in Applied disaster and emergency studies..

SOA of account of over 35k US dollars, sponsors are brother and mother.

Brother is a professor in a university in USA with 35k US Dollars
Mother’s SOA of 4Million naira.
Paid first year full tuition fee of 9,000 CAD
Honestly I am tired of this people..
I don’t know if I should change school, or change my program to PGC.. can’t go for a masters as I graduated with a 2:2 from Engineering.

Mehn this stuff is not about the SOP you write, it just God’s favor.. My SOP was written by a top professor in the USA who happens to be my blood brother and with the help of some gurus here too..

Have you tried to apply for Express entry I think your profile can give you rear score with your MSC

Kaydee87:
Thanks for taking time to read my post.
Well, to answer your questions
1. I dont even intend to return to Naija until maybe i get a life over there
2. I also do not intend to tender my previous MSc too in order not to stare questions in d mind of the VO
3. No Uni offer an extensive course in Naija .NB the course is quite different from a normal Masters degree in Education.
4. I have taken several online certificate course but all are not as detailed as having an MSc (the type im going for)
Àll these are the points i will have to tackle in my SOP.
Apart for purpose of visit , what other obstacle could i experience with the list posted earlier.
How about having sponsorship from the school i work(i could make them do something).
I really need advice please!!

Remember this yesterday. Today it shows medical passed. Hurray!!! It will sure end in praise.

geotherm:
I helped my friend applied June 22 (online). He did biometric on 25th. But since medical request was not forthcoming I encouraged him to do an upfront medical. He did it on Monday, we uploaded the medical sheet same day. Today I saw an update "Review of medical results We are reviewing the results of your medical exam". Hopefully it ends in praise. He called the children's practice today they told him to call back tomorrow evening to confirm if the results had been uploaded from their end. I wrote a short note on reason why he decided to do medical.
