Not exactly
Merino is a better alternative and trossard
We just need a creative midfielder or another left winger
No, i wouldn't want that Merino experiment again, he tried as make shift but no please. If only Arteta can try the Emery project with Martinelli where he tried playing him as CF. We still have Trossard, Saka, Max and Madueke as wingers. Jesus still dey this team baa?, I no even know again.

Raya was superb. That save he made while standing and still able to get down fast just very close to his feet was fuckibg good, I screamed.(I no know who even shoot that ball, be like na Cunha abi na Dorgu). He really kept us in the game.
Zubimendi tried too, recoveries and tackles. Rice was really off, but Zubi covered up.
Odegaard was missing the links in attack but he put up a resilient game. Did everything well except finishing up attack.
Having Calafiori and MLS as lb option is fire. While one likes to hold the ball more to create more balance and clarity, the other likes to push as fast as he gets it to hasten the attack.
Kai had more touches per minute than Gyokeres and completed more passes and that is because of the difference in their game. In the first half Gyokeres was so isolated that most if not all of the passes he got was out of position. That stupid crossing from Martinelli and the one Gyokeres made after running down to the right would have made a difference shaa. Make dem still train dis week and know how to put up Gyokeres more.
Timber controls the game more from the rhs but white offers more in freeing Saka while in attack.
Yesterday's positive for me is that, even though the team was off, they still managed to grind out a win in a tough ground. That's the spirit and mentality we need all through the season.

Yes
did you notice that we didn't play much crosses yesterday, we made more direct play based on transitions but odegaard, Saka and Martinelli killed it off most times. And that baby shot Martinelli made was unlike his game, I even expected him to pass or cross, but when he made the shot I was surprised and disappointed. Like, you're a right footer and that's the best shot you can give from inside the box?. Well, I expect a much better game next weekend against Leeds, like see how they turn up.

When not if he put on the jersey, I will support him (that's my emotional side) but the jury is still out on him cool cool cool
"don't be triggered" bro na you know how you take dey read the comment. Your emotion is high and no matter what anyone says, it won't make sense to you. You will always find a way to shift the goal post.
Shalom.
Madueke na Arsenal player and Eze is not, and probably won't be(with spurs putting up energy than us in his pursuit).
Ps: u no later mention the players better than him in the same price range oo. And no be me "drag you for any willingness to join", na talk i talk but you want to play an emotional game and make it look as such. I dey with bro, na talk we dey talk no dey shift post to claim agenda.

Up until xhaka left, Martinelli wasn't a touchline hanging winger. Maybe, just maybe the reason for his only crosses and only trying to cut in at the edge of the post is according to Arteta's instructions. Saw Madueke did same against bilbao too(alas more effectively).

Have never said Madueke is a bad player but better players are available in market with better outputs with same price range... Trust me if it's about versatility, Eze is more versatile and productive than him ( he can play as RW, LW, Free role, no 10 and cool...

Am sure you can't even be he will start ahead of Nelli and Tro.... He increases the depth but not the team overall quality like Eze or Rodrygo would do
Baba speak for yourself on the bolded. Eze florish in a free role more and that is not even arsenal game. Saying other good players are available for the same price tag is not just right and fact(you can mention a few if you think so). For one i was all in for maddison till we got odegaard and I had no excuse than to support him, and today he lifted our game so greatly, same with white. Once you're an Arsenal player I have no choice than to support you, because I love my team and want to see them prosper. Of all our wingers search this season only Madueke had a less amount to be paid for and willingness to join. Madueke na baller, you're free to drag me when his output is rubbish, but if he turns up, just take your L and move on.

How is the bolded difficult to understand bro?
This is a simple detail a little kid who watch Arsenal matches will understand. Dowman is still developing and Nwaneri is not a winger... At least from all indication.
it's all because he was signed from Chelsea. We got a a better Madueke with epl experience for a break down fees and only made about 14m up front, but Chelsea got Gittens for a fixed price of 48m and somehow it is a bad business for us and Gittens deal would have made more sense to some of us fans. Madueke wey his few minutes as a lw was more than what Martinelli offered before he was subbed against bilbao.

MSGAMBLE9:
Talking of primary position, Madueke own is as a RW, he has zero G & A for Chelsea as a LW... For Eze, he played mainly free role for Palace and as a LW for England to accommodate Jude, the reason why Palace are so deadly is interoperability of Sarr, Eze and Munoz you will find any of them across the frontline interchanging behind Mateta...

If it's about primary position and rigidity White, Timber would not be at FB and Rice would still be no 4 instead of no 8 plus Henry would be a LW instead of being world renowned no 9 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.....
in Arsenal I think one of the major reasons for signing any player is versatility. Unlike wingers, the midfield is already choked and we only have THREE 3 notable wingers. Guy did you watch Arsenal vs PSV last season?, we had Tierney and sterling as wingers. Common man, no dey downplay the signing cus you don't like the player and turn around to say it wasn't important. Chelsea made the deal easy for us and that it why it didn't take much to get him. For how long have we been negotiating with Palace for Eze ?, or we should just give them the money because we have it?, field football aside, this is still business. Madueke was signed as a major back up to Saka and same time to provide support at the left side too, he played 7 matches as a lw and scored zero goals, so that makes him bad?. In the match against Liverpool where he played as a lw, he got 7.6 rating, against man utd he got 7.0 rating as a lw. So tell me how that is bad?.

I hate the fact that we always go to Chelsea to shop when we can get better players elsewhere
Guess what the amount we paid for madueke is what Chelsea paid for gittens so what are we saying
i know your issue is because we signed him from Chelsea. Talking about Gittens, he had 12 goals and 4 assist in 49 matches while Madueke had 11 goals and 5 assist in 46 matches. I understand buying willian, jorginho and sterling (loan) from Chelsea and they didn't turn up. But Madueke was Chelsea's best winger last season. I'm not letting media hype get to me, I watched Madueke last season and he's a good signing.

Maybe Rodrygo is expensive, buh is Eze expensive? £10m plus Madueke fees would have gotten him and probably on a lower wages than Madueke, Eze can play across the frontline too and a much more better productive player than Madueke...

I would just pray Madueke comes good....
You need to understand that Eze's primary position in 8 and 10, so is odegaard and Nwaneri who was promised more minutes in his natural position, and we still have Kai who can also play as 8. Dowman is still in his break out season and knowing Arteta he won't rush him, but surely he will get playing time. We need a right wing backup, regardless of Dowman and Madueke offers that. Even if either of Martinelli or Trossard leaves, he can also play there. The signing is as important as getting Eze. They checked what they considered as priority and went for it first.

People problems with Madueke signing isn't because of his qualities or lack of it, it's the opportunity cost of making that move when supposed better players in Eze, Rodrygo were available that irked angry fans knowing funds are tight...
Rodrigo isn't just too expensive, but his wage will be high too. Funds are tight but it's only 14m that we spent on him this summer, the rest will be settled down till 2026, so how's that wasting funds like some fans suggest. The problem is that we signed him from Chelsea and most players we got from Chelsea didn't turn up as expected. Nothing else.

Arsenal fans should be ready for heavy criticism and media eyes this season because the talk about us will be endless. Every divk and tom will want to be in our conversation. Criticism and talks about us will be too much this season, whether we loose or win or draw, many eyes will be on us. This season is not for the faint hearted.

With the coming of max dowman, Ethan is no more regarded as a winger
That's why he's been playing his natural position all through preseason.
If we bring in Eze, that could reduce his progress unless he's coming to play as LW
i read that it is because of Nwaneri that we didn't go all out for Eze in the first place. Instead of Eze they would prefer an all out winger. That interchanging as much as Eze's quality would be an added advantage for us, I think it makes sense to allow Nwaneri get more chance. And from the bilbao game we can see that Madueke isn't as bad as the media want us to believe.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by germaphobe(m): 5:39pm On Aug 14, 2025
Earlier when I saw the new epl rule concerning talking to referees, I knew we were in trouble already. Odegaard no get ginger, but i won't say the weight of the captain armband is affecting his output. He has been captain all through and was effective till last season. Adams said what everyone can agree with, but I think he also knows that the timing is wrong. In the new rule, a team can select another player to do the talking if the captain is a goal keeper. So I don't know if clubs can still select another person for the role if their main captain is also an outfield player.

We might suffer more with referees this season with the rule of only captains talking to the referee. Odegaard no fit shout or complain strongly. If only they can appoint Rice or Gabriel to take the role

True. Not even argue. But it is a fact. I guess his bulking up helped cos if na before he for don fall teytey dey gesture to ref or to the stands. But how he calmly finished that is sweet.

I also noticed the speed at which Odegaard, Zubi and Saka released the ball for the goals. No delay no unnecessary back passes.
we now have a striker that runs behind and on the shoulders of defenders, so yeah, that sense of urgency in attack should be our new model not 90 passes and cross

Zubi! Absolute masterclass in the middle of the park. Closest player i have seen to prime xavi of Barcelona. Already looks to be a crucial player we must keep fit at all costs. As for Victor, he will grow into the team philosophy with time and his introduction will force Kai to step up big time. Interesting times ahead.
Watching Zubimendi and Rice today made me think of what a genius Pep Guardiola is. That interchanging and freedom to dictate the game is something he wanted to try with Rice and Rodri two years ago. Zubi/Rice partnership today made odegaard less under pressure. With Calafiori and Gyokeres, I think Martinelli might click. Can't wait to see how Arteta tweaks this team to bring out the best with different players when opponents seems hard to break. Let's see what the season brings from next week.

It's joyful having two different strikers that offers entirely different things to the team. That low header by Gyokeres is 🔥, baba dey put body.
See that goal by Kai, many would have argued that he can't score that kind of goal if it was another player.(one even said it's the first time of him scoring like that, but I remember watching him make a run and finish it). I just pray both of them be clinical in front of goal throughout the season.
Calafiori brings life to that left wing.
