Bertha does not scout. So this is where you're wrong. Bertha only negotiates.

Any player we sign for the first team is scouted by Arteta.

What he does is to give the Sporting Director a list of targets and allows him get them according to priority.

Sesko was his first choice. Not because of his ability but because of his age and Arteta considers him as a player with high potentials.

Indeed one cannot deny Sesko has potentials.

The problem with the Sesko deal is not the talent, but those managing him. By asking for impossible wages and a release clause as low as 20% of the signing fee is madness. Hence Bertha pulled away and started going for the second choice.
this is just it. Saying he doesn't have the eye to identify talents is a just too exaggerated, Gabriel, jesus, zinny, timber, Ben white, Calafiori, Trossard, kai grin and Odegaard were all his scouting eyes. Eze that we're talking about too. The fact that some didn't make it doesn't mean he's bad, every coach have a player that didn't live up to the reason he was signed.

Okay that was an exaggerating statement
Before the January transfer some fans met Edu and video him asking what his plans was for January which he responded they are planning something
Arteta also made it clear he prefers seskô which was why during the tw we didn't bid for any player until deadline there were news about Watkins
Is that not seskô or nothing
your earlier statement was directed to this current window, why us your explanation all about last winter window?

With jesus coming back from injury and kai being a monster in the later part of the season before last, Saka replacement was much more needed than a CF. I believe everyone talked about it here. But now the story is that some fans mentioned Nelson when the talk of replacement came back. Nelson wey him loan matter don the buzz since transfer began last summer.

With Harvertz moved from midfield into playing as CF and a fit and in-form Jesus also available to play the position, the pressure to get another CF not better than Nketia last Summer was minimal. So I don't blame the club for last summer business. Cala and Merino are needed for squad depth.

The grouse was the inactivity during January window when it has become obvious that Jesus will not be available for the rest of the season.

But then on a 2nd thought, good CF are hardly available during January window, and getting just any CF might not improve the team as much or better than converting Merino to a CF. Also getting just any CF in January might discourage the board from releasing another money to get a decent CF this summer. Just thinking loud.
na business side of the club, you dey talk about oo. Dat one no concern me as fan wey wan see trophy. After jesus injury and knowing that kai is the only striker and Saka being out too. They all should have been proactive.

Last time Arteta said kai is a starter was in January after we lost to man utd in fact cup. So i don't understand how a statement that was made before kai got injured and before our pursuit of expensive strikers is still being quoted when talking about next season

Arteta said he prefers sesko, he led down reason and stats why sesko should be a better option for his system but didn't cancel the idea of Gyokeres at all, and everyone agreed with that. It's out in the open, no be me talk am. Now when the sesko deal was becoming more and more stressed and the player wasn't really interested, he optioned for Gyokeres and even gave a time frame for the deal to be completed so work can start with our new frontman from day one of training. All of dem board members saw the need to go for the two strikers simultaneously and it paid off exactly how they wanted it to play out. But somehow Arteta was OUTSMARTED by Berta

At least, Maresca competed in those tournaments and won. What has Arteta done in the ones he competed in? Same Arteta competed in lesser Europa league for 3 seasons and couldn’t beat the likes of Olympiacos. It became a lesser trophy to you guys, something the almighty Arteta could not win o.

I’m sure if Arsenal had qualified for this club world cup tournament and crash out as usual, you guys will still come up with excuses or call it a worthless tournament. Premier league we cannot win, champions league will cannot win, but we have the guts to undermine other tournaments we have ourself have competed in the past and couldn’t win.

Trust the process, trust the process, people taking jobs at other clubs are achieving things in less than 3 years. It would be a thing of eyesore if Amorim get something tangible before Arteta. I wouldn’t be surprised if that happens sha.
calm down... trust the process grin cheesy. Spy don turn one man squad for here. Any comment by lord spy turns to this fanbase that fanbase. Even if na fa cup, make we first win am, carabao cup na still something. No be Newcastle use us do training for semi final, still win Liverpool for finals and celebrated like they won the league?. Make the trophy cabinet dey fill up fess.

Arteta had 6 years too qualify for the same tournament, yet he couldn't. It clear Maresca > Arteta
Arsenal qualified for ucl the same period Chelsea qualified for conference, Arsenal only have 2 ucl season experience prior to this cwc, and couldn't win it last season. So how is that 6 years of qualifying for the same tournament?.

Bro last season after the season ended the first thing on everyone mind was to get deputy for saka and CF only for us to be seeing merino, calafiori after selling some attacking depth like nketiah and rowe I guess that was why the board stop the funding because this man was just packing defensive players
Last season the key areas we suffered most injuries was the attack that's because the coach favour defense
There were some key games we couldn't finish off opponents, another example is this current transfer we have gotten 3 defense line players with one incoming while we can boost of just 2 attack minded players

Tomorrow if things go sideways we will blame the board
are you saying this signings isn't needed?, or that we should have prioritise attack first and leave out the important gaps being left behind in those areas they already covered?.

Which respect is that?
Person bottled league with 8 matches to go after staying at the top for 90% of the season
we can all agree that Arteta is not delivering at the level befitting of us, but we can't say the progress isn't there and the fear factor isn't back in the mind of our rivals. There's a reason the board members and owner rate him so high and block their ears when we shout Teta out. Dude is bringing back profits for them(that's mostly what's important to them) and changing the old narrative. It's left to see what will happen at the end of this coming season if he still doesn't deliver an important trophy. I can only wish and hope shaa.

most of our incoming deals are in instalments of 2-3 years. With the confirmed deals everything should be around £177m with actual payments for this window being around 80m or 90m. So can we get half or more than half of it from players sales?.

You know the actual fee is 48m to be paid fully by 2027/2028 season?. We are merely paying about 16m this year. That's a smart business if you ask me. The additional 4m is only based on performance

Nobody buys "hope he can be the go to guy" player for £52m and depth not even far richer clubs like PSG, United or Real...

Is he an upgrade on Nelli to you?
let's break this down. Nelli got 8 goals and 4 assist in 2299 minutes of epl games and madueke got 7 goals and 3 assist in 2047 minutes of epl games.
Nelli had 45 shots with 19 on target, madueke got 80 shots with 30 on target with less minutes.
Madueke makes more forward passes when i watch him(this is personal view) than nelli makes when i watch him. And unlike nelli who have lost his drive for dribbling and advancing forward under pressure when his speed alone can't help, madueke does the dribbling and advancing a lot. Like I said Madueke Is a good player that can still develop too, but the price is just a bit too high for me oo. Being a Chelsea player isn't even the issue for me.

No matter how they twist it the deal is a big setback just the way Kai deal set us back
This guy is not even better than Ethan or martinelli that have lost his mojo
can we give him the benefits of doubt till he starts playing?. Just like kai, this whole fans outrage will certainly affect him mentally if he ain't strong enough. It feels like he is not welcomed even before he kick a ball in arsenal shirt. Personally I understand the feelings about the deal, but he's an arsenal player now and uk fans are doing a bit too much about it. With Nelli and Trossard future on the hang and Rodrigo deal looking more unrealistic, I think we should relax first regardless of how we feel and watch him in an arsenal shirt for couple of games. And I know his deal won't affect our pursuit of Gyokeres(na arsenal dey play smart with the deal at the moment, not that the money is not there or that the coach or staffs are not happy with him). Make we give Arteta his wants and watch how he turns things, some of us are already loosing faith, so let's give him wetin he talk say be him problem and watch how and what his excuse might be this time.

“No one said to Noni he has to leave. It was his own decision. If he is happy, we are happy”.

Hmmmnnn... so he is not such a reject or surplus to requirement, at least by his manager. Na Arteta and Berta go convince the boy to come. That partly explain why Chelsea used him to cash out on us
he is a good player that can still develop, the issue most fans have with the deal is the money involved and the fact that most Chelsea players we got recently haven't been what we needed for where we aim to be. But funny enough, the same fans that were saying few weeks ago that we let jorginho go for free to get lower grade in zubi are now saying jorginho wasn't it for us too.

Like @iamoyindamola rightly put, this is now stale and has gathered serious mold!

We have now seen teams go out and hire coaches who did not need 6 years to be successful.

He is now 6 years into his tenure, will enter his 7th by 12 AM on December 2025.

Now a few 100s away from spending a billion (10s, if Gyokeres, Eze and Mosquera all go through)

2nd highest tenured in the EPL.

3rd highest earning coach in the world.

Talk another thing!
Nwanne you sef ehh grin grin true true excuses don expire for Teta, na to just sit down dey watch dey wish and hope well for the club. smiley
