What is not clear?
Putin claimed he won't accept "compromised" currencies and I made it clear
that his pronouncements comes from a place of ignorance as he has no choice.

Maybe I am wrong perhaps you could enlighten us on how a European buyer can pay Putin in
Ruble without any use for US dollar or Euro.

BTW, US dollar is not used for just convenience. I wouldn't want to get into the details.

I doubt you can give any details, since you do not even understand international currency exchange. There is no law on which currency to use. Its just a trend that people increasing switched to pricing in USD, plus back door indirect bullying by US through USD denominated loans which third world countries have to pay back. I hope you know Europeans introduced Euro to rival USD and have been trading in Euro since the 90s.

Countries that are manufactures like to sell, hence tend to depress their local currencies to make their goods cheaper. Sometime in the 2000s the BRICS came together to launch another preferred currency, The US threatened them with all sorts of things individually. Today, Russia is simply saying, we have already fallen out with you, and you have used your so called sanctions (which is essentially that the US has majority control over many international organisation, which at the end of the day are associations not laws. UN is an Association, there are countries that do not belong to it.), Russia says we will now trade in our currency, just like Europe is doing.

What it means is this?

Before, If you are in Germany and want to buy Russian oil, You just sign a contract and wire you local currency Euro to Russia, and Russia will accept the payment and the money may not even get to Russian Gazprom, but may just sit in an account they have with a bank in Germany, till they decide they want to use the money for this or that. This money is what Europe says they have frozen.

Now, with Russias new pricing, they are no longer offering buyers that easy convenience because after all you can't do without their gas. So if you are in Germany and want to buy Russian gas, you will first contact a Russian bank to exchange what ever currency you have to Rubble. That your currency will flow straight to Russia and sit with the Russian Bank, under oversight by their central bank. They will later issue that currency to their people who want to buy things from Europe in Euros. You mean while will go to Gazprom and pay your Rubbles for the gas.

How it affects the sanctions?

1. European countries will be forced to bypass their own sanctions in order for their Euro to get to Russia so they can buy gas.

2.European energy companies will be holding a lot of Rubbles in Russian banks, which Russia can target in future for retaliatory sanctions.

3.Russians holding Euro and USD outside Russian banks will be mainly private company importers, no longer the Govt. owned oil exporters, so rooms for future currency sanctions against Russia by US or Europe will greatly reduce.

When you buy oil from Russia, you have to pay in Euro or Dollar.
Did you think Russia was selling oil for free?

Neither Europe the US has sanctioned Russia's energy exports, so Putin's oil money
have not ceased flowing since the invasion.
Not sure I get your point, as you are not clear.

There is no rule or law that says you have to pay for anything in any particular currency. The seller determines what currency you pay in. The use of USD is just a tradition that no one has been interested in breaking. But Russia today says it will henceforth sell I Rubbles. Just like European countries around the 90s introduced Euros to help them stop needing USD. So they insist you buy their cars and machines in Euros.

https://amp.theguardian.com/world/2022/mar/20/germany-gas-deal-qatar-end-energy-dependency-on-russia

Read the details and understand this is an empty political gesture. Germany is not ready to give up Russian gas.

Qatar LNG can diversify German energy supply, adding another possible source should Russia shuts its gas lines. It will not replace Russian gas as it is even much costlier. The deal you are talking about is an empty political move to pacify anti-Russian sentiments, its for LNG that Qatar is not even producing yet, they are expected to complete the facilities to produce about 7.8 mtpa more by 2025. There are no specific company or money contracts behind this deal. This is the oil industry, what ever they are producing now is being supplied to someone already.

In layman's term, (as I see you have no clue) Qatar, has agreed that if they finish building their ongoing LNG facility, they will give German companies, priority to buy the LNG, not exclusivity. This LNG would have been bought by a European company or a Chinese company either way and would go into reducing world oil consumption, not gas consumption. There is no volume mention in the deal, we know Qatar cannot replace Russian volumes either, not just because of OPEC, but because its not financially feasible, even as demand keeps growing.

For your reference, last year, Germany bought 53.4 billion cubic feet of gas from Russia. Qatar is planing to add only about 7.8 million tons of LNG capacity by 2025, thats just about 11.3 billion cubic feet of gas equivalent. Even if they give everything to Germany, it still won't wean them of Russian gas as it will leave 42.1 billion cubic feet deficit in gas supply.

You are wrong. Russia only export 17% of total world wheat export.
US has 14%
Canada has 14%
France has 10%
Ukraine has 8%
Etc.
Anything Russia does highest, many other countries like US are close.
You know what we have things Russia has zero market share
Phones - Russia 0%
Textile - 0%
Cars -0%
Airplane- almost 0%
Telecommunications- almost zero
Techs like Google, Social media companies, etc - Russia almost 0%
Bros, are you okay in the head. How does the fact that Venezuela also produces oil make Nigeria any less of a major oil producer?

Russia economy apologists should know that the richest companies in the world are those that produces everyday life commodities and services.
E.g
Apple
Google/alphabet
Microsoft
Amazon
Tesla
Facebook
Nvidia
Visa
Samsung
Etc.
None of this companies are Russian company.
Also, the top richest people are not into oil, they are into everyday commodities/services that people use around the world.
Countries that produces everyday commodities/services are the richest in the world.
Back to my question.
What do you use in your everyday life that is Russia made?
What percentage of your money goes to Russia made commodities?
You sound retrogressive in your thought.

1. Your list is full of tech companies that are US owned, but not necessarily producing their services in the US.

2. How many of those companies you listed do you use their products, and they are relevant to Nigeria for you to be calling them everyday products.

Apple- you mean second hand iPhone Nigerians buys from computer village or how many Nigerians spend close to N1million to buy overpriced Ipad tablets that are actually made in China?

Microsoft- we all use free Russian pirated Microsoft softwares from Windows to MS word. Ever heard of the Lavteam?

Tesla- you must be kidding right. Everyday items that make US economy big.

Visa- I hope you know its the branding and server network our banks pay for, and those servers are not likely in US. All the chips and cards are made in China.

Samsung- A US company? Really. If they were, you won't be using them so much as you won't be able to afford them. It's a South Korean company and most of their products are made in China.

Bros, answer the question posted above.
How many Russian commodity do you use?
How much percentage of your money do you spend on Russia commodities?
Whatever Russia produce more than US, the US is not far off.
US is the second largest exporter of wheat.
For your info, The US produces about 5 million more barrel more oil than Russia.
Sure, Russia export other things aside from oil just Like Nigeria. But this things are small compared to US, Chinese, Japan etc exports that even you spend your money on daily.
Pls answer my question?

Your question is just a fallacy of argument, hiding behind demand for precise data.
I just told you that half of all the bread you eat in Nigeria are from Rusiia, you start arguing that the other half comes from US. How is that relevant to Russian Production?

I will give you the numbers you want if you can supply same numbers for your own consumptions from US. How much of your income do you spend on goods from US and not China, for you to be here arguing about how texas economy is bigger than Russia? The bitter truth is that the US has so depressed your currency that you can hardly afford anything produced with their local labour, but you wakeup here shouting about the size of their economy. Next time, specify if its the real economy or the virtual currency valued economy.

No, they don't maybe military jets, but not planes or even ships.

The contracted French to build their ships and their air planes are Boeing and airbus which they can not fly as wee speak because of sanctions, their planes can not fly because sanctions blocked parts supplies from the west.

Everything you listed means nothing because they can not export or make 1 kobo due to sanctions and more sanctions are coming, even energy sanctions.

Rich Nations make global product and countless global brands and consumer products that we see around us, you can not show me any Russian made products anywhere outside of Russia, their cars are from the west and asia, their planes are from the west, their cell phones are from the west and asia, their financial services and products are from the west, their payment systems like Visa and Mastercard are from the west, heir chips and semi conductors are from the west and asia, even internet is from the west.

You can not show us TECH giants like apple, google, Netflix, fakebook, Instagram, tik tok, Spotify, global arts and entertainment platforms, Disneyworld, universal studios and so on anywhere in Russia, it's a dead and boring country.

Rich Russians don't live in Russia, never, they are always in the West having a good time.

The minuscule thins you listed practically scored your own goal, you proved the point that Russia's economy is small and undervisified.

With ordinary energy embargo, Russia is dead.

The west will bankrupt Russia from 2 fronts, drain Russia financially in Ukraine, make them spend what they don't have on the war in Ukraine and drain their revenue and source of income at home and abroad.

As we speak, Russians are already lining up for food, their store are empty and I see mass protests weeks from now, also shouts for Putin to resign or he gets chased out of office.

Russia is in serious trouble, I just don't know what you people are drinking or what's blinding you.

Oga, Russia has many exports, that you were oriented (brainwashed) to think Britain all the time does not mean others are not there. Russia is responsible for almost 50% of all the wheat you eat as Bread in Nigeria, just do that calculation alone. While they don't control the mass markets, they can Rival US and Europe Technologically, even in IT Tech.

Some smart bloke is messing with Putin's head.

If Russia will only accept Rubble, that means the buyers must get Rubles somehow.
Since buyers can't print their own Ruble, they have to buy it and guess with what currency?
Euro or Dollar of course and we are back to square one.

While this move will prop up the value of Ruble a bit, it won't save Russia's economy in the long run
should the invasion continue.
You got it wrong.
When you buy Russian Rubble with Euro or USD, you have to send the money to Russia, to sit in Russian Central Bank. So your Govt. have to authorize you to exempt their sanctions against Russia.

The more surplus Euro or USD Russian CB has, the more the value of the Rubble, the more Russia can bypass all sanctions to buy whatever they want from US or Europe by simply routing cash through other countries. Cash is king.

Again, if you are going to argue, how facts, not just talk and peddling your own personal opinion.

What Putin want s or clarity has nothing to do with the fact that Europe is actively looking for alternate oil and gas suppliers?

What's Putin's payment plan got to do with the fact that Germany already secured long term energy deal with Qatar?

We are talking about A and you are rambling about B?

Mr man, stop wasting my time unless you are able to counter me with facts that Europe is not looking for other suppliers or that Germany did not secure energy contract with Qatar.

Your views are like the behaviour of an ostrich.

1. SAUDI Arabia spear headed the formation of OPEC to successfully counter what the Western countries are trying to do, get one oil producer to play against the other. Even if Qatar sells to Europe, they will not produce more than their OPEC quota, so the Russian production will go to whoever Qatar stopped supplying. Middle East countries will never go outside OPEC because they have learnt bitter lessons from same Western countries in the 1970s oil price wars.

2. The same applies to Iran, who has been living under sanctions, and is closer to Russia, to suddenly start being courted by the British Prime Ministet so they can destroy the only ally they have in the UN security Council with veto powers. They might sign and ride along, but will stick to their OPEC quota. If Iran comes back on stream, OPEC will reduce everybody's quota to keep oil price steady.
So you have not figured the cartel part our yet.

3. Qatar has no pipelines to Europe, neither does Iran. Even if they start building one today, They both have to convince Syria and Turkey, these are bets they Europeans would likely forsake and rather go to Russia.
So the only feasible gas supply means is Liquiefied Natural Gas.
For LNG:
To the equivalent oil price,
add cost of liquefaction,
add cost of transportation is shipping Tanker,
add cost if cryogenic processes while shipping to keep the liquid cold and liquefied.

Then compare that to Russian gas, which only gets dehydrated and pumped to Europe via pipelines with 30-50 years lifespan.

Truth, is Russian gas in Europe still has no feasible alternative. Even making cheap green energy still will not displace Russian gas, as green energy storage for night use is also a costly venture.

The Europe is looking for replacement for Russian gas is just a political talk. They have been looking for the past ten years, even when Russia incurred into Georgia. That alternative does not exist yet.

Go to school, you won't go. Read and learn, you won't read. You think landsize is what makes economy big. Russia is the biggest country in the world by land size. So are you saying that they are the richest?
Oil is Russia major export to the world. How many other product have you seen or have in your house that is made in Russia. Texas have oil but have diversify it's economy to also focus/export advance technology, biotechnology, aeronautics, manufacturing, life science etc. This are values that are exported and used in everyday home around the world.
US, China, Japan, Germany, UK, India, France are all smaller in size to Russia but are far bigger economy cause they offer more to the world.
Fun fact, Texas produces about half of oil that Russia produces per day. So Texas is not even far off when it comes to oil.
Another fun fact, Top ten biggest economy are not major exporter of oil.
Lastly, the fact that oil is not your highest expense monthly should show you that being an oil exporter isn't as important as technology manufacturing, biotechnology etc put together

I think you are the uneducated here. Take some initiative and define things as they should be and not regurgitate whatever is thrown to you by the west like a dog. Economy size as defined by Western countries today is a huge function of how much they have depressed your local currency.

Basic, 1usd equalling N600 means that if you labour to lay same piece of brick in US vs in Nigeria, your efforts, same effort will be worth so low in Nigeria, and the question is why are they not same? 1gram of gold in Nigeria is 1gram of gold in US, so why is effort to lay 1 brick in Nigerian village not equal to laying 1 brick in US village.

It's not because texas is diversified as they are still consuming Chinese goods like you here in Nigeria, its also not because texans work harder or smarter. The simple truth is that it is because their Govt. find political means of making their resources, goods and services , to be priced above yours.

By reason of landmass and population, Texas Agriculture is not more than Russian, neither is their manufacturing, since China is doing that. So Texas is not economically more productive than Russia. The difference is in the artificially proped currency pricing.

These sanctions has revealed the strength and endurance of the Russian people. Every country should try as much as possible, no matter how difficult to be sanction-proof, it's the only way to live well in a world led by imperialist, and post-colonial warlords. Sovereignty is sacrosanct, and sadly, only few countries are truly Sovereign.

The rule of thumb used to determine truly Sovereign countries are any country the west hate with burning passion, AND will do/support anything to break it internally and externally. Russia is one, then China, Iran and Syria. Before it was Libya, but its been defeated. You can argue that some of these countries are poor, and you're probably right. But a golden prison is still a prison. Freedom is priceless.

The reality is that you can make this move if you are relatively debt free. A country like Nigeria whose President devalued the currency from N360 to now N590 to 1 USD just to continue borrowing from IMF and Co for stupid projects, like Railway that would have boomed the economy if it was built locally. Such a country has already sold her sovereignty for peanuts

Thats the lie to feed you to keep your currency low so they buy your resources cheap! Texas is the size of Nigeria, with an oil industry that belongs to American bygone era. Its about a 10th of Russia in landmass. Its economy might appear big based on the value if USD to other world depressed currencies, but in terms of real economy and productivity it is not.

Lol he is actually the sole supplier of piped natural gas to Europe. The alternative is LNG which has to be shipped from unstable countries like Nigeria. The fact that it is piped means thd cost of transportation is amortised over many years (about 30years pipeline lifespan) Europe cannot get any other gas as cheap as Russian gas.

This I have said before, if Buhari has any reasoning economist, all Nigerian crude should be paid for 60% in Naira. Why sell your own goods in another person's currency? European countries do not accept anything but Euros for their exports.

Please I'm kinda confused, this might be a stupid question but why do countries not house their own foreign reserve on their own soil or is that the prerequisite of a foreign reserve. Is it like a Nigerian opening an account in Ghana and saving in Ghana cedis, won't it be possible to create the account in Nigeria and save in that currency, just like we do with a dollar account?

I get your confusion, its because in Nigeria politicians have been telling us that foreign reserve is where they store our wealth.

Foreign reserve is an emergency fund you hold of other countries currencies for emergencies. So if you had a natural disaster or war you can simply use your foreign currency to import what you need. Because the currency is in another governments, who are usually your major trading partners, it makes more sense to leave in with a bank in that country. So Russia does not hold just USD, they will hold Chinese Yuan, and Euros, etc. Some they will also keep as cash with the Russian central bank. They will also keep gold, silver, etc, in case they enter a situation where currencies fail.

That's why we keep shouting about the idiots who keep stock piling USD at Nigerian CBN at the detriment of the economy. Once your reserve size can fund your imports for 3 to 5 years, in which time you would have recovered, you do not need more reserve. Rater you pump your wealth back into your economy to make it grow.

One of the new ideas around this is sovereign wealth funds. Norway, an European country that is less than 20million or so, has become so rich from oil, that they want to save money for their children. So they go to other countries with bigger economies and keep their extra funds in fixed deposits as investments that their children can recoup. This is a risky way to store wealth, because the money can be lost easily. Nigeria, a very poor country is was trying to copy this under okonjo ideals. Smart countries like China store wealth by using the money to fund projects in other countries as loans for projects that will be executed by their own companies, like Amaechi's railway. They gain both ways by doing this, the money goes back to their economy, create jobs for them at their home, you owe them and you get the luxury of trains.

You guys seem to be unable to wrap your heads around the fact that out of the 7billiion people on earth, western countries are just about 20%.

Why you keep masking western intrest as international interest is rooted in colonial brainwashing.

China, Iran, Turkey, India, all have investors.
Even western investors will still lend to Russia irrespective after the war. They will only lend in Rubble. Lending to Russia is still less risky than lending to Nigeria because they truly have the money to pay.

Post this conflict, you will see new trading platforms that are alternatives to western systems. Any country with responsible leaders will ensure their financial system is not solely dependent on swift fir international banking. The same will apply to other business the west are manipulating. More countries will begin to censor and restrict social media, since they can be manipulated by their home governments.

Nobody is called "International". It is a term used to give the impression that we are collectively bigger than you.

Yes, this is a big possibility, but the real truth is that there ain't so many countries rich in oil and gas, and capable in technology, and with a stable government able to prevent war from Russian territories. So investors will readily lend to Russia, again and again as long as they issue that directive for Payment and the funds exist. Who is more risky to lend to, Russia or Nigeria?

You can't supposedly make a payment from a frozen asset. It's like owing and then the bank, CBN or EFCC had already frozen your account but then you tell your debtor "I have the money but can't touch it because it is frozen. However, I have written a cheque, now it is up to the CBN or EFCC (to unfreeze my account in order for my debt to be made) and they should be held responsible if my debt is not cleared."

I don't understand how these Russians think or do things.

You do not understand because you are one of the minions who think somebody somewhere in the Americas owns the whole world and can sanction you.

Your analysis are wack because as a citizen you are subject to a government, so your account can be frozen as the government is superior to you.

Russia is a sovereign government, US is an equal colleague. US cannot punish or pass judgement on an equal government. So Russia is simply saying for all our debtors who are in the US, or Europe, we have made available your money, hold your home government responsible if they block the funds from flowing into your accounts.

This way, the US and allies will be shooting them selves in the foot by their sanctions, just like they did with oil. Since they will only be punishing their own citizens only. So Russia will hence forth be using the so called frozen funds to be paying their debtors from western countries.

Putin just traded the future of Russia for a morsel of Akpu and onugbu

Keep quiet pseudo economist.
Foreign Direct Investment is another British American invention for your economic enslavement. It simply means you should measure your productivity and success by how much money, they (the gods) are willing to bring into your country, not by how much food, films products your citizens create.

Russians and China on the other hand are not stupid like you, so they do not care about fdi, rather they are talking about their internal purchasing powers and surplus products for export.

A country of human beings (not lizards) who are majorly consumers not producers are exchanging their currency at 570 per another countries currency? For what? Their leaders measure economic success by how much usd they earn for looting, not the well being and satisfaction of needs of the populace.

Western world has destroyed Russia without firing a shot.

Putin should have known that the Western world runs the world economy.

Justice for Russia

You have been brainwashed to think the value of US D to your currency determines your economic value.

Before pitying Russia, pity yourself. You that your country is subsidient to the West, your currency is still worth only 30% of Russian Rubble. Who needs help, Russia or Nigeria.

You claim that a coalition was put together by Julius Berger

Fashola cancelled PPP so if you see toll there then likely the FG will either concession them or operate them directly.
The SE is a tiny place and does not contribute much so pro rata it should get less that the SW but that is not happening.
The money for that bridge is paid upfront by the FG with funds from the Niger Delta ,Lagos and Abuja

Shut up, the South East produces oil that Britain has been Stealing forever, the SouthWest produces nothing. Lagos port is not a production. The transit port can aswell be in Warri or Port Harcourt or Calabar if not for Obasanjo's manipulation to close these function ports, and its for goods that is not being consumed in Southwest. South West is worse than the North, at least northerners produce food.

2012?
That was building with mouth

Fashola has changed that

https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/491717-why-fg-abandoned-ppp-arrangements-on-second-niger-bridge-lagos-ibadan-expressway-fashola.html#:~:text=The%20Minister%20of%20Works%20and,secure%20needed%20funding%20from%20banks.
Changed what exactly, cause I see more tolling booths on that bridge than you have at Lekki. What exactly did he change about it or its a case of the more you look the less you see.

Fashola has not completed a single federal road in the South East since he has been minister. Yet thats not how he is building in the South West.

Lovely. The fourth picture looks like they want to put toll gate there. Haba!
They have not finished and they already built toll gates.

Answer: Because the bridge is not being funded by the Nigerian government as they claim, but a coalition put together by Julius Berger. So I heard from Julius Berger MD, face to face, in 2012.

Dude, it's Monday morning. The amount of nonsense heaped into this one post is alarming!

At the emboldened, Russia already invaded Ukraine.

Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine and last I checked, Kyiv is 100% in the hands of Ukraine. Zelensky, as a matter of fact is in Ukraine and so far, Russia has not captured any of Ukraine's regional cities but you created a sharp contrast using Cameroon, Nigeria and Abuja.

So 'denazification' led to Russia invading Ukraine? I'll be damned!

How is Ukraine not winning when its capital and regional cities are still in their hands and when their enemy is supposedly bigger and larger?

Inputting is not necessary. Just watch on instead of this posts which somehow sheds light in your thought process. Just stop.

Bro, news flash, about 30% of Ukraine territory is in the control of Russians. Kherson and two largest nuclear plants are in Russian control. Mariopul is expected to fall in a few days. Russian forces are moving towards Odesa. The actual resisting cities are just Kerkiv and Kiv. Russia is already outskirts of Kiv, while they are bombing Kherkiv while both are surrounded and cut-off.

Nothing is good news about this, since to me they are unnecessary deaths. Ukraine should go neutral.
Lets Stop hyping people who are dying in a conflict that we all know the outcome.

No they can't repel the invasion by virtue of their military might but they can prolong it, Russia would succeed initially in taking the cities but the fighting will be very prolonged after that.

This is a people that don't want to be invaded, they have the motivation, the vast majority support the central Govt, that is where Russia got it wrong.

So what is the value in prolonged death, just to prove you can be friends with the enemy of Russia, all at the expense of your infrastructure, economy, peace, population? If your friend cannot help you defeat Russia, then you are just being stupid and should have stayed neutral ab initio.

What a poor anslyst,do you know that ukrain airforce is still fkying the sky of ukrain while killing russian invaders.
Ur putin is a failure.

Oga, na lie.
Even Ukraine could not maintain air presence in the breakaway regions before all this. The rebels armed with Russian mobil anti aircraft missile truck were shooting them off the skies.

And frankly, I do not support Putin, but I also can't support stupidity. In my own interest, the world is better as a multi-modal political landscape, than a mono- modal world with US as the only apex. The rest if us will be doomed, as they will have no restraint. The best outcome to promote that world is that Ukraine remains neutral, that ensures US and Russia do not confront each other.

Before writing these things always ask yourself how it affects you. Assuming its possible, UKraine winning this battle will only lead to a bigger conflict that will end as a world war. The Bible book of revelations already tells us there will be a war in which US will be destroyed. But imagine that kind of war, we will all be affected, and assuming its with Russia we end up again with 1 world superpower. Imagine Russia as the sole controller of world affairs. Something we smaller countries should not want. Russia and US balance each other, this is the only reason why Britain is not still ruling the world like her backyard colonies. Russia is the Reason why Britain does not just directly dictate to Abuja what to do and what not to do. The so called International coalition like UN and rules were built to avoid another world wide conflict between superpowers. Sovereignty for smaller nations, especially African ones will mean little or nothing is world powers where not balancing each other.
